I have setup report subcription with stored credential using a valid domain account and "Use as Window Credentials..." checked. Everything tested fine and works properly when the report is viewed in a web application. The problem is this report renders fine in the browser 80% of the time and occasionally it gives me Logon failure error:
An error has occurred during report processing (rsProcessingAborted)
Cannot impersonate user for data source 'Pinnacle'. (rsErrorImpersonatingUser)
Logon failed. (rsLoginFailed)
Logon failed: unknown user name or bad password. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007052E)
Since the report is working 80% of the time and the user domain account hasn't changed. I am confused why I am getting bad user account error. Please help!
I want to send a deployed report (report manager), through email, by calling reportingServices webservice. But the requirement is that, time is not fixed for sending this email, so I want to trigger the sending of report as a one time event, no subscription to a daily time...
How to achieve by using SSRS. How we can "quick run" report within the subscription menu to ensure report was set up correctly during creation.  Is there any way to generate sample subscriped report without waiting for scheduled time.
I mean whether we can verify the report parameters & data in generated the report. I have verified SSRS report manager .i cant see any button or option to test run the report in subscription feature.
I've gotten to the point of publishing the new reports on the SSRS server and have run into the following problem.
I use a field in the primary report with the "Go to report" action to open up another report (also published) for more details. It works properly from within ReportBuilder (2.0) using the report server and I can go to and from the secondary report as I expect. Its passing the correct parameters to the second report and its runs.
But when I use the reports from the SSRS web, the Go To link no longer works. Mouse hover shows its still a link but clicking goes no where. I can run both reports independently from SSRS and they still work. Â
I've tried this in IE and Chrome with no luck in either. I also poked around at Compatability view and popup blocker but nothing made any difference.
I have created couple report through report builder which using AS cube as the data source. Every time when I try to access the New Subscription from the web UI. It complains about "Subscriptions cannot be created because the cedentals used to run the report are not stored, or if a linked report, the link is no longer valid.".
So I went into "Properties" -> "Data Source" and use the custom data source. I've selected "Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services" and put in the following Data Source=SQLTEST;Initial Catalog="Data Warehouse AS". I've select "Crednetials stored securely in the report server", using my Windows login and password.. and I've got the following error.
" An error has occurred during report processing.
Query execution failed for data set 'dataSet'.
The SemanticQuery element at line 7, column 351 (namespace http://schemas.microsoft.com/sqlserver/2004/10/semanticmodeling) cannot appear under Envelope/Body/Execute/Command. "
When I begin Enterprise Manager and open a connection to a Server, it fails with a timeout error. But if I do a refresh and then connect again, it immediately works. I have had similar symptoms setting up a data source for ODBC. When you initially logon to SQL Server to define the connection it times out. But then if you immediately try again it succeeds. Furthermore one of my application programs fails to work (due to the timeout) on systems that have this behavior. I have had these symptoms occur on 2 diferent workstations, but other workstations access the SQL Server with no problem. All systems are WinNT 4.0; the engine is SQL Server 7 with SP2. The timeout is defined as 15 seconds so should be long enough.
Does anyone know what is going on, or how to fix it?
We have 2 databases ( Guider and Talker ) and we have a WCF service that is logged in with a domain identity.
In our SQL Server we have the service ID added to the Data Server Logins and both Guider and Talker are given access to the user.
When we access Guider we have no problems getting data.
When we access Talker we have a login failure:
Cannot open database 'Talker' requested by the login. The login failed.
Login failed for user 'AcornCommunicationServices'.
The thing that gets me is that the user is created at the Server level, in both Databases, and at the server level both databases are checked for the user. master has been set as the default database for the user.
Basically, as far as I can see Talker and Guider are configured identically! So I cannot figure out why I cannot login to the second database!
Is there a specific setting I'm missing somewhere to grant login access to the user? I'm using
Is there a way of passing a default parameter value into the subject title on a report subscription?
Currently there are std global variables i.e. @ReportName was executed at @ExecutionTime, but what other variables can be passed here to make it more relevant to the recipient?
I've been working with Database Mail for some time but I haven't seen this one before. I have a maintenance plan that does the following:
1. Check database integrity On Success: 2. Perform backups On Success: 3. Perform a maintenance cleanup On Success: 4. Notify operator of success
Steps 1 - 3 are also linked (via On Failure arrows) to a singular Notify Operator of Failure task.
The maintenance plan does exactly what I want it to, and if everything goes correctly, it successfully sends an email to an operator.
If steps 1 - 3 fail, the job ends in an error state, but does not trigger the Notify Operator of Failure task.
I was able to recreate the problem by creating another maintenance plan on the same instance with the same steps. Its "Notify Operator" on failure task also doesn't work.
It occurs to me that maybe I'm missing something, so here's some of the details of my SQL server:
SQL 2008 + SP1 (10.0.2531) x64 on Windows 2008 R2 DB Mail profile is public and default
I do have a slightly unusual profile, in that it uses two accounts:
1. A connection to a SharePoint SMTP service (where it catches emails directed at document libraries)
2. A connection to a UNIX-based smtp server (which routes mail to regular mailboxes and my SQL DBA mailing list)
The Profile will attempt to send to the SharePoint server first. The SharePoint server does not relay. If the document library email address doesn't exist, SQL will raise a warning (in the Database Mail log) and the profile will use the second account on the list, which is a real mail server and can relay the message to any mailbox.
It works really well, actually. When the maintenance plan completes successfully, the message is sent to the drop folder on the SharePoint server, and SharePoint routes the email to the correct library, and we have a central archive of all DB Mail notifications.
But if the job fails (for example, if the backup disk is out of space), none of this happens. According to the log, the job doesn't even try to send a notification. Looking at the DBMail log, the Mail service does not start. No email is delivered to the drop folder of the receiving SMTP server. So I don't think my Database Mail configuration is the problem here. It is apparently something to do with the way the job itself handles errors.
Is there somewhere that I can tell when the last time either the publication or better yet a subscrition replicated data (in a system table or view maybe)??
I want to set up monitoring to make sure I am aware if something for some reason does not replicate
I need data fields in the page header. The report is multiple pages. I have multiple fields I need in the page header. These fields will change on each page.
I've tried everything I can find suggested on this forum. They all either don't work or work for a while. Then, as is the case today, we get a problem with a report that renders perfectly in the RS browser but when it's output to a PDF, a couple of the page headers become confused.
Why can't Microsoft provide a hack that actually works somewhere (Maybe I just can't find it)? A sticky at the top of the forum?
I'm currently using the answer supplied by NB at AeM here http://forums.microsoft.com/msdn/showpost.aspx?postid=638813&siteid=1&sb=0&d=1&at=7&ft=11&tf=0&pageid=1 As I said it works very nicely, thanks , except for when it doesn't export properly to a PDF which is an MS issue I presume not the solutions issue.
I really need to be able to make this work before I start throwing my toys from my pram and so my boss doesn't think I'm a complete idiot. I'm sure he doesn't believe me when I say I can't put data in a report header, after all it's only the most basic of reporting functions.
Understand how Report Manager functions internally through the use of classes in the ReportingServicesWebUserInterface assembly and leverage its undocumented functionality.
I need to subscribe one report in Reporting Services. I was compiled all fields and I said to report server that I want excel file at one shared directory of the server. When the report server tried to process the report I have the following messagge:
Failure writing file S16 : An unexpected error occurred in Report Processing.
I cannot subscription report when I finished setup that the following is the error message
An internal error occurred on the report server. See the error log for more details. (rsInternalError) Get Online Help The specified @category_id ('101') does not exist.
The SQL agent have already start. I don't know what happen.
I created a report based on an OLAP cube in the report designer using SSRS 2005. One of the dimension in the cube contains of the name and email address. I want to set up the subscription to this report so that it will send out the report to the subsciber's email address in a pre-set schedule. How do I assign the "Name", "Email" and "Parameter" in the subscription page so that it will loop through each name to send out the report rather than to set up multiple subscriptions if there are 500 names in the dimension. Also the information contains in the report is strictly to that subscriber only i.e. "Name" of the subscriber will be used as a parameter in the subscription to the report. Thanks.
When I setup a report with a subscription and after it runs it says that email address is invalid. We can send it internally by using the subscription but externally. We use a remote email host provider(smtp). Please help I have tried everything.. We are using sql 2005 server with windows pro.
When I try to create a new subscription I get the following erro.
An internal error occurred on the report server. See the error log for more details. (rsInternalError) Get Online Help
EXECUTE permission denied on object 'sp_add_category', database 'msdb', schema 'dbo'.
Any ideas?
Cheers

I am trying to create a report subscription on my test sql server (2005). I noticed that the "New Subscription" and "New data driven subscription" options are disabled in SSMS. "Delete all subscriptions" is the only enabled option. I do have the sql server agent running. What else must I do to enable these options?
I have a report scheduled for email delivery at a certain time of the day. Is there a way I can execute the subscription ON DEMAND so that when ever I execute it, the report is processed and emailed? Is there a way to run the subscription from a batch file/ssis/tsql etc?
Hi there, I am trying to setup a subscription for a report that I developed in SSRS (reportbuilder). The report is accessible via the intranet.
I want the server to create the report as an Excel or CSV file on a shared directory called \cdbd$ mpMarcsub
It seems easy: there is a tab "subscriptions" in the report. I configure the schedule, etc... but when the report is supposed to run, I have an error message: " Failure writing file <reportname> : The report server has encountered a configuration error. See the report server log files for more information. "
There's no SSRS administrator in the house. Can someone help me where to find this SSRS log file and eventually point me to a number of possible problems ? Could this simply be a login/pwd problem ? the subscription scheduler interface asks me for a login and pwd. What login and pwd must I provide ? The one of the server itself ? The SQL Server 2005 login/pwd ?
Tough... for me but certainly easy cake for you guys.
I have a stored procedure that works in my dataset editor, but when i try to run the report, only the "amount" field shows up. Everything else is blank. why is this happening. Here is the stored procedure.
I've created an SSRS report in Visual Studio 2005 which runs fine in the preview. I have a list of server names which when clicked on expands to a list of databases on the chosen server. When I click on a database it then queries a table of information and displays information on that database. The query is something like:
SELECT * FROM MyDB.dbo.DB_info WHERE ServerName = @ServerName and DBname = @DBname
This works fine in preview mode. When I run it in SQL Management Studio via the Custom Reports menu it only works when the chosen server is the one that contains MyDB. I've run a trace and can see the query being issued when I use preview mode. However, when I run it from SSMS I don't see any query being issued to the database. This seems strange as it does return data in the instance described above and if I put MyDB into single-user mode it then complains that it can't access it so it is obviously trying to communicate with the database but not showing up on the trace. I've selected all events and only put a filter on the database name.
Seeing as all of the information is in the same table it seems odd that they query only works when the server name is the one where the database is held and that the query is not shown up in a trace. I'm running the report under the same credentials too.
I'm completely baffled by this so I'd be very grateful if someone could explain what might be happening here.
I have a report which I have tested and works fine. now I'm trying to use it as a subreport. the "outer" or main report is very simple: it just has a company standard banner and some header/footer information, and then a single subreport. there is no passing of parameters between main report and sub report. the subreport does have its own parameter to govern its dataset, and provides its own default for that.
The error that I'm getting is this:
[rsErrorExecutingSubreport] An error occurred while executing the subreport €˜subreport1€™: An error has occurred during report processing.
[rsMissingFieldInDataSet] The data set €˜WarrantMasterCube€™ contains a definition for the Field €˜Year€™. This field is missing from the returned result set from the data source.
[rsErrorReadingDataSetField] The data set €˜WarrantMasterCube€™ contains a definition for the Field €˜Year€™. The data extension returned an error during reading the field.

[rsErrorReadingDataSetField] The data set €˜WarrantMasterCube€™ contains a definition for the Field €˜Month€™. The data extension returned an error during reading the field.
[rsMissingFieldInDataSet] The data set €˜WarrantMasterCube€™ contains a definition for the Field €˜Date€™. This field is missing from the returned result set from the data source.
[rsErrorReadingDataSetField] The data set €˜WarrantMasterCube€™ contains a definition for the Field €˜Date€™. The data extension returned an error during reading the field.
[rsMissingFieldInDataSet] The data set €˜WarrantMasterCube€™ contains a definition for the Field €˜Wt_TO_MTD€™. This field is missing from the returned result set from the data source.
[rsErrorReadingDataSetField] The data set €˜WarrantMasterCube€™ contains a definition for the Field €˜Wt_TO_MTD€™. The data extension returned an error during reading the field.
[rsNone] An error has occurred during report processing.
Of course, this doesn't happen when I execute the subreport by itself. What kinds of things should I be looking at to get to the bottom of this. Thanks!
I have a report that may or may not have data. I have a subscription setup for this report. The subscription has a defined To list. I would like to NOT send the report if there is no data on the report. I did this in SQL 2000 by raising an error from the stored procedure if there was no data. However, that approach does not seem to work with 2005. Is there another way to accomplish this?
Hello, i am trying to subscribe to a report that has dependant parameters, for example Country->City and Year-> Month. Those values are coming from a Analysis Services cube dimensions. when i come to it in the subscription window, some of the parameters are populated and some are not. I cannot detect a pattern. Does anyone know what can be the problem? thank you.
I have a new setup of report server. I have deployed three reports that I have also scheduled to run and save as an Excel spreadsheet to a network locations. The reports do not run and I get the error message below. Does anyone have any ideas? Anyone run into this issue before

I cant imagine this to be possible, but I currently have a report setup and a subscription that email the report to some users, I was curious to know if possible that if the report returns no records to not have the report sent?
