I have a Contact table where I enter a "Parent" (Mother or Father) with IsSubscriber = 1. I also enter all of their children in this same table, with IsDependent = 1.
I then have a Relationship table that relates each child to the appropriate parent record in the Contact table.
I need to assign a sequence number to each child ONLY if they were a multiple birth (twins, triplets, etc.; all have the same DOB). I've been successful at writing a query using ROW_NUMBER(), but it includes the single births (no other child of the same parent has the same DOB).
Stripped down version of Tables and Data and my failed attempt to write a query to do what I want:
IF OBJECT_ID('TempDB..#Contact','U') IS NOT NULL DROP TABLE #Contact CREATE TABLE #Contact ( ContactId INT IDENTITY(1,1) PRIMARY KEY CLUSTERED , IsSubscriber BIT
I'm trying extract a count of consecutive numbers, or "unbroken" years inthis case, at any particular given time.For example (simplified):CREATE TABLE #Customers(CustNo INT,YearNo INT,IsCust CHAR(1))INSERT INTO #Customers (custno, yearno, isCust) VALUES (999, 2006, 'Y')INSERT INTO #Customers (custno, yearno, isCust) VALUES (999, 2005, 'Y')INSERT INTO #Customers (custno, yearno, isCust) VALUES (999, 2004, 'Y')INSERT INTO #Customers (custno, yearno, isCust) VALUES (999, 2003, 'N')INSERT INTO #Customers (custno, yearno, isCust) VALUES (999, 2002, 'N')INSERT INTO #Customers (custno, yearno, isCust) VALUES (999, 2001, 'Y')INSERT INTO #Customers (custno, yearno, isCust) VALUES (999, 2000, 'Y')SELECT * FROM #CustomersCustNo YearNo IsCust----------- ----------- ------999 2006 Y999 2005 Y999 2004 Y999 2003 N999 2002 N999 2001 Y999 2000 YIn 2006 CustNo 999 would have been active for 3 years, 2004 for 1, 2001 for2, etc. Ideally I'd feed it a single year to lookupI'm resisting the urge to create cursor here -- anyone have any hints?....Chris.
I have a database that is pre-populated with sequential part numbers. As people reserve the parts I update a flag to show the # is no longeravailable. Now they want the ability to take out a block of "x"number of sequential part numbers - say for example 5.If my database had the following numbers available:101104105110111112113114It should return 110 thru 114 and then I would write an update queryto change the flags to 1 (checked out).I have only been able to return the first "x" number of records - havenot been able to make sure they are stepped sequentially - with thefollowing:SELECT ID_ITEM From PARTNO_CHKOUT_SPECIAL M Where (Select Count(*)FROM PARTNO_CHKOUT_SPECIAL NWHERE N.ID_ITEM <= M.ID_ITEM) >= 0 AND TYPE_REC=1 ANDFLAG_CHECKED_OUT=0 {maxrows 5}The above would return 101, 104, 105, 110, 111I tried using an (N.ID_ITEM+1)-M.ID_ITEM=0 to try stepping and geterrors, probably incorrect syntax. Can I do this in an SQL statement?
I am trying to automatically insert records into my existing customer table. Is there a way when I insert these new records and assign the customer number that it can sequentially pick the next available unique customer number for each record that is inserted? for example the first record would be customer number 100, the next 101, and so on? Please advise.
I am using the following query (which works fine):
select min(timex) as start_date ,end_date ,entityid ,entityname ,locationid
[code]....
However I would like to not use the delta (it takes effort to calculate and populate it); instead I am wondering if there is any way to calculate it as part / whilst running the query.
Problem 2:I have the following table which shows the location of different people at 1 hour intervals
We have customer accounts that we measure usage. We want to run a report for all customers whose current usage is 0 and a count of how many months it has been zero consecutively. Here is an example.
How to create a row number for a consecutive action. Example: I have a listing of people who have either completed a goal or not. I need to count by person the number of consecutively missed goals.
My sql table is this: PersonId, GoalDate, GoalStatus (holds completed or missed)
My first thought was to use the rownumber function however that doesn’t work because someone could complete a goal, miss a goal, then complete one and when they complete a goal after a missed goal the count has to start over.
I usually do this through Access so I'm not too familiar with the string functions in SQL. My question is, how do you remove characters from the middle of a string?
Ex: String value is 10 characters long. The string value is X000001250. The end result should look like, X1250.
I've tried mixing/matching multiple string functions with no success. The only solution I have come up with removes ALL of the zeros, including the tailing zero. The goal is to only remove the consecutive zeroes in the middle of the string.
Basically I want to calculate the time spent by S_Users on a particular S_ACTV_CODE:
- S_ACTV_CODE_PREV means the previous active records.
- S_START_TIME is the time of S_DATETIME when a S_ACTV_CODE starts
- S_END_TIME is the time before a S_ACTV_CODE changes to another S_ACTV_CODE
- For the first record, S_ACTV_CODE is null, so there is no S_ACTV_CODE_PREV, so S_ACTV_CODE_PREV is NULL
- For the second record S_ACTV_CODE has some value, but S_ACTV_CODE_PREV is NULL for first record. So second record S_ACTV_CODE_PREV is also NULL
- For the last record (means S_ACTV_IND = 1), the user is currently working on it and S_ACTV_CODE is not changed. So S_END_TIME is a open time and we want to keep it as NULL
I have a table full of service invoice records. Some of the invoices are continuous, meaning that there may be an invoice from 01-16-2015 through the end of that month, but then another invoice that starts on feb 1 and goes for 6 months.
I want to only pull the most recent. Keep in mind that there may be other invoices in the same table for a different period. An example might be:
(0 row(s) affected) Msg 208, Level 16, State 1, Line 41 Invalid object name 'X_SET_PREOP'.
FOR THE FOLLOWING CODE SEGMENT.. I am trying to do 2 updates with just one WITH BLOCk.Create table #temp( MPOG_CASE_ID uniqueidentifier, lab_name varchar(100), lab_date datetime, lab_value decimal(19,2) );
with X_SET_PREOP as ( SELECT xx= ROW_NUMBER() OVER ( PARTITION BY lab.MPOG_Case_ID, lab.lab_name ORDER BY lab.lab_date DESC ), lab.MPOG_Case_ID, lab.lab_name, lab.lab_value,lab.lab_date FROM MPOG_Research..ACRC_427_lab_data lab
I have this big huge SQL statement. I am trying to see whether there is some quick magic way to assign it to the variable @SQL
Declare @SQL NVARCHAR(MAX) Set @SQL = <????> SELECT ClaimSurgical.FormNbr as ClaimIdentifier,ClaimSurgical.MemberTID, ClaimSurgical.Membernbr as MemberNumber, ClaimSurgical.AdmitDate AS ServiceDateYYYYMMDD, CAST(CAST(ClaimSurgical.AdmitDate AS VARCHAR) AS DATETIME) ServiceDate,ClaimSurgical.ProviderNbr as ClaimPRVNO, ClaimSurgical.VendorNbr as ClaimTaxID, ClaimSurgical.AssignedProvider1 as PCPPRVNO,ClaimSurgical.CAPVendor as PCPTaxID, EventCode_1.EventCodeTypeID,
Hi Fellows I am trying to organize these information.the data come form two tables that are not relating, but I did a join and my primary key is the filed polygon. I have a list of points(geomseq) for each polygon but the number of points(geomseq) can change. I have this inofrmation in a data base.
I have the following stored procedure to test scope of variables
alter proc updatePrereq @pcntr int, @pmax int as begin
[Code] ....
In the above script @i is declare in the if block only when the @pcntr value is 1. Assume the above stored procedure is called 5 times from this script
declare @z int set @z = 1 declare @max int set @max = 5 while @z <= @max begin exec dbo.updatePrereq @z, @max set @z = @z + 1 end go
As i said earlier `@i` variable exists only when `@pcntr` is `1`. Therefore when i call the stored procedure for the second time and so forth the control cannot enter the if block therefore @i variable wouldn't even exist. But the script prints the value in `@i` in each iteration, How comes this is possible should it throw an error saying `@i` variable does not exist when `@pcntr` values is greater than `1`?
I'm trying to come up with an elegant, simple way to compare twoconsecutive values from the same table. For instance:SELECT TOP 2 datavalues FROM myTable ORDER BY timestamp DESCThat gives me the two latest values. I want to test the rate ofchange of these values. If the top row is a 50% increase over the rowbelow it, I'll execute some special logic. What are my options? The only ways I can think of doing this arepretty ugly. Any help is very much appreciated. Thanks!B.
Is it possible to display only the first few words of a block of text with a "Show More" link at the end, which when clicked would expand the block to show all content?

Hi, Is there anyway I can impliment this in my application without installing it as a COM. My Web Hoster says they won't install it. The Data Access Application Block
I have inherited a system which uses Identity numbers for primary key fields, but also displays them for the user to see. The user has noticed missing numbers in the sequence, sometimes just a few numbers and sometimes as many as 1000 numbers missing.
As far as I can tell the few numbers missing could possibly be explained by users deleting records or the number being generated on a save, but the save then failing. But I can't explain the huge jump of 1000.
I can find no reference to the RESEED in the code...
I have a report with a column which contains either a string such as "N/A" or a number such as 12. A user exports the report to Excel. In Excel the numbers are formatted as text.
I already tried to set the value as CDbl which returns error for the cells containing a string.
The requirement is to export the column to Excel with the numbers formatted as numbers and the strings such as "N/A' in the same column as string.
I download the DAAB CF version. However, most of them use SQLCEClient to connect to the database. Is there any DAAB that use SQLClient? One workaround that I made is I replaced all SQLCEClient objects with the SQLClient objects. I only test one method "ExecuteDataset" and it works so far. However, my question is "does my workaround a good solution?"
I'm trying to create a column of numbers that increment by one.
I'm not able to use a #temptable in the application I'm using so I cannot use IDENTITY(int,1,1).
I want to add an Id column to this query:
Select distinct sd.name,ic.TABLE_SCHEMA,ic.TABLE_NAME from sys.databases sd cross join INFORMATION_SCHEMA.COLUMNS ic where sd.name = 'ODS1stage' order by TABLE_SCHEMA,TABLE_NAME
How can I accomplish this without creating a temp table? I would just alter the table and insert the numbers but there are 2000 rows.
I have a string and i want to get only the numbers from right.
For example if I have the string Like '123756zxfggr123456' then it will show me only 123456 or if i have the string like '4vbz67xfggr123dfd' then it will show me only 123 or if i have the string like '123756zxfgg43r5' then it will show me only 5.
I got a function where it gives me all the numbers in a string but I don't need that
CREATE FUNCTION dbo.udf_GetNumeric (@strAlphaNumeric VARCHAR(256)) RETURNS VARCHAR(256) AS BEGIN DECLARE @intAlpha INT
[Code] ....
If I ran the select statement it gives me the result 111123456 but i want only 123456 or if i select
SELECT dbo.udf_GetNumeric('111zxfggr6587fhhfkwee') AS 'Num' it will show me 6587.
I'm trying to use the Data Access Application block, and am having some issues with configuration. I am using it in a class library, and it seems that with v 3 you need to configure the DAAB first, making changes to the configuration file. However, in a class library, I do not seem to have the web.config or app.config file to change. So where do I need to store the configuration settings? Thanks, Paul
We are expanding an application's database hardware to have a mirrored failover server. Normally in this case we just have the application add "Failover Partner=MirredServerName" in the connection string.
However, this application is using the Enterprise Library Data Access Block and we can't find any documentation describing how to setup the Failover Partner using this library. Any help would be appreciated.
Given a Table1 with two columns 'Name' with some N rows of data and another Table2 with one column 'SeqNo' with N rows, each of which contains a unique integer which can be ordered monotonically, I want to do an INSERT into some Table3 with two columns 'Name' and 'SeqNo' such that each INSERT'd row gets one of the unique integers.
How can I reference Table2 so that Table2.SeqNo will 'line up' properly? Note that the ordering of the SeqNo values isn't mandatory as long as each SeqNo is assigned to one and only one row.
On edit: Table2 isn't required, it's just the way I started thinking about it. It would be nicer to just have two integer vars, @StartSeqNo = 6000978 and @EndSeqNo = 6000981 for he example above. Either way is fine.
