SQL 2012 :: Opening A Deployed SSIS Package?

Feb 6, 2015

I have been handed a datawarehouse environment to look at however I cannot find the ssis packages (.dtsx).

I see that the packages have been deployed to SSISDB but I can't find the files to load into Datatools.

Once the files have been deployed is it possible to remove the package files? Is there a way of retro'ing the deployed packages out of SQL so I can view them in Datatools?

Opening SSIS Package Without Validation

Jun 11, 2007

Is there a way you can open an SSIS package without validating it?

The reason is - when I take a package from PROD and open it in DEV - initially all settings-variables are wrong - and the validation takes heck of long time in that case. And then I need to change the variables and reload the package. And bloody hell - if I forgot to change a variable - I sometimes have to validate package 3 times. And sometimes - I only need to get visual look of package - so why do I always need to wait for validation...

SSIS Package BLOCKS At Opening.

Mar 21, 2006

Hallo,

I'am relatively new to SSIS-programming and experiencing a serious problem with a package (6618 KB large) containing 5 dataflows. These dataflows all start from a datareader-origin and flow trough multiple transformations. While editing the fifth dataflow the developmentenvironment suddenly became unworkably slow. After any modification made to the dataflow it takes several minutes before I can continue editing. Meanwhile in the task manager the process devenv takes a very large portion (50 to 100%) of CPU.

Building the package, shutting down SSIS and even rebooting the PC don't make any difference. When you close the package ands reopen it, this takes at least 10 minutes.

We work with Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services Designer
Version 9.00.1399.00.

Does anyone know if there is a limit to the number of transformations in a flow or the size of a package? Could that be the problem?

Before this problem occured I was multiplying transformations by copying ,renaming and altering them within a dataflow. Could SSIS have some problem with that?

Any suggestion for solving this problem, other than chucking it all away an restarting, will be gratefully accepted.

With kind regards,

Paul Baudouin

Error On Opening A SSIS Package

May 24, 2007

I am getting the following error when I try to open my SSIS package

Error 1 Error loading CCTAdvocateList.dtsx: The connection "DestinationConnectionOLEDB" is not found. This error is thrown by Connections collection when the specific connection element is not found. j:cct db migrationcodecct db migrationCCTAdvocateList.dtsx 1 1
Error 4 Error loading CCTAdvocateList.dtsx: The connection "SourceConnectionOLEDB" is not found. This error is thrown by Connections collection when the specific connection element is not found. j:cct db migrationcodecct db migrationCCTAdvocateList.dtsx 1 1

The connections which BIDS is complaining about are not even there in the package. I had created these two connections some time ago but then I had removed them from the package and it was working ever since.

Suddenly I have started to get these error messages.

Abhishek.

SQL 2012 :: SSIS Project Deployment Model Miscellaneous Files Not Being Deployed

Jul 9, 2015

I have an existing project that I have added a simple text file. I am using the Project Deployment Model for this project. I save the project, close it and open the project and the file is there under the Miscellaneous folder. I successfully deployed the project to the server. When I retrieve the project using the Integration Services Import Project Wizard, all of my package modifications are there and the packages up to date but the txt file I added to the Miscellaneous folder is not there.

SSIS: Opening Package Takes 8 Minutes

Apr 20, 2006

I have an IS package containing approx. 10 tasks in the control flow - one of these tasks is a rather large data flow containing around 50 transformations plus 3 sources and two destinations. Around 10 of these are script components and another 10 are Union All transformations. The rest are primarily lookups, conditional splits and derived column transformation.

The XML file containing the package is approx. 4.5 MB. As I am developing the package, it is becoming increasingly slow to work with as more transformations are added to the data flow. Now, it takes 8 minutes every time I have to open the package for development (DelayValidation is even set to true) and DTExec (not the debugger) uses the same amount of time before it starts executing the package. It also takes a very long time to edit the data flow, as I typically have to wait 1-2 minutes every time the designer has to "commit" a change.

Does anyone have any idea what can be done to speed up the package - both with regard to development and execution?

SSIS Package Hangs In Data Flow, Magically Works After Opening And Closing Components

Nov 2, 2006

We're experiencing a problem where intermittently our SSIS packages will hang. There are no log errors or events in the event viewer. It will happen whether the package is executed from the SQL Job Agent or run from BIDs. When running from BIDs it appears to hang inside one of the data flows (several parallel pipes with sorts, merge joins etc...). It appears to hang in multiple pipes within the data flow component. The problem is reproducable, we just kill it and re-run, and it appears to hang in the same places.

Now here's the odd thing: as we simply open and close some of the components in the pipe line after the place it hangs, a subsequent run will go further in the pipeline before hanging. If we open and close all the components after the point it initially hung, the data flow will run fine, from there on out. When I say "open and close" I mean no changes are made, we simply double-click the component, like a merge join, then click 'close.'

To me this does not seem like a memory problem but likely something is wrong with the metadata, where opening a component and closing it somehow alters the metadata to "right it".

This seems to occur intermittently after we make modifications to the package. It's like if you make any mod, even unrelated to the data flow, you then have to go through and open and close every component in your package to ensure it will work. Again, no errors or warnings are fired.

Has anyone seen this type of problem?

Package Hangs On Deployed Server

Nov 20, 2007

I have an SSIS package that executes in about 1:20min from Visual Studio on my local machine. While executing, my machine is somewhat unresponsive.

When I deploy the package to the database server -- the very same database server that I am accessing from my local machine -- the package executes but eventually hangs. It appears to be running out of memory, and I usually have to kill the process to get the machine to respond. While it's hanging, the machine is unresponsive to all users. The hardware (including memory) is identical between my local development box and the server.

How should I troubleshoot this? I've tried deploying the package to MSDB, file system, running from dtexec, and running from dtexecui. This is very frustrating!

Thanks for any help.

Execute Package Task Failed When Deployed To Server..

Feb 11, 2007

Hi,

I have a package that contains an Execute Package Task... it works fine when on my local machine and on our test-server.
After deploying the SSIS solution to our customers server, I open the project in Visual Studio and run the mainPackage in debug mode and the Task fails when trying to execute the package.. if I remove everything in the childpackage it still fails... the path to the package is correct and I know that I have rigths to execut it. I do not use any package security/encryption..
If i create a new package in the project and create a new fileconnection to it the Execute Package Task executes correctly, with the exact same content as the original package...

So my guess is that something in the FileConnetion object is set wrong, but i cannot understand what it is. The errormessage i get is something like this. "Execute Package Failed. Could not execute package".

Anyone had the same problem as I? I´m grateful for any help!

SQL 2012 :: SSIS Package - FTP Task Fails When Run From A Job

Apr 3, 2014

We are running SQL Server 2012 SP1 64-Bit EE on Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1. I have a SSIS Package which connects to a FTP Site and downloads a file. Then it truncates a table and loads the file data into a table. This package works okay when executed from within VSS and SSMS (In SSISDB, right click on the package and execute). However, when I execute it as a Job it does not run and appears to be failing on the first task which is the FTP Task. SQL job step - Type: SSIS Package; Run as: SQL Server Agent Service Account (domain account called playuser); Authentication: Windows Authentication. In the All Executions Standard Report for the SSISDB Catalog, it only says: FTP Download File: Errors: There were errors during task validation.

Is this because my domain account does not have access to the FTP Site?Is this where I need to come up with a Proxy Account with Credentials?Do I need to set up a SQL Server Login (Proxy Account) with the same username being used in the FTP Batch file?

FTP Commands in a batch file:
username
password
cd omb
asc
get STRMASTER
quit

SQL 2012 :: Can't Execute SSIS Package From Remote Machine

Mar 19, 2013

OS: Windows 2012, standard, 64-bit
SQL: 2012 + SP1 + CU2 = 11.0.3339

We recently decided to "break apart" our BI environment. We used to have everything on one box, DB Engine, SSIS, SSAS & SSRS. Everything has been running fine, but we now have other projects using these services, so we decided to break them apart into their own boxes.

We now have DB Engine on one Server, SSIS & SSRS on another server and SSAS on yet another server, so we now have three boxes that replaced one box. All are Windows 2012, standard, 64-bit with SQL Server 2012 + SP1 + CU2.

Since some of our SSIS packages have to access external resources, we used a domain account for it's service account. The DB Engine and SSAS box are using the default service accounts when installed. I can execute the packages fine on the SSIS server, I can even execute them via SQL Agent jobs on the SSIS box (we did install a default instance of SQL on the SSIS box), however when I try to execute a package from my laptop, it fails with the ugly "Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITYANONYMOUS LOGON'".

I immediately double checked my SPNs and they all looked correct for the SSIS server and the service account we are using (and we had no duplicates). I also double checked the User Rights Assignment in the Local policy editor and all the correct Rights have been assigned (Log on as a service, Bypass traverse checking, Impersonate a client after authentication).

I changed the onError script task event handler, to propagate = false, because the last file in the source directory is being written to until 11:59 pm and is locked, and I get error file is being used by another process. "failed to decrypt protected XML node DTS:Password...key not valid for use in specified state..."

Now this is definately to do with the custom log, as if I take it out & redeploy, I can run it on the deplyed server + also run it within a job. I have entered the custom log provider library (+ other required DLLs) in the GAC on the deployed machine, but I'm clearly missing something.

Any ideas pls??? I'm really stuck.

SQL 2012 :: Ignored Column In SSIS Package Throws Conversion Errors?

I have a data flow task in which I have a ADO NET source and OLE DB Destination. I have in the ADO NET source a sql command which pulls all the columns in a table. My requirement is to ignore a particular column, say column99. I opened advanced editor and deleted the mapping between the external and output columns for column99. I had also set the Error and Truncation to "Ignore Failure" for column99. I had also mapped the destination column to <Ignore> in OLD DB destination.

But this still throws the error-

Description: The ADO NET Source was unable to process the data. Field table-column99 missing an escape character for a quote.Unable to update PK WHERE clause.Error processing data batch.

How do I solve this?
