Hi I'm trying to convert and format integer values in a SQL Server select statement to a string representation of the number formated with ,'s (1000000 becomes 1,000,000 for example). I've been looking at CAST and CONVERT and think the answers there somewhere. I just don'tseem to be able to work it out. Anyone out there able to help me please? Thanks,Keith.
In my SELECT query I have: MIN(a.orderdue) AS 'Oldest order date'
This works in that it brings through the oldest order date, however it brings through a date format like: 2015-06-11 11:30.000
So I amended the SELECT query to:
MIN (CONVERT(varchar(17),a.orderdue,103)) AS 'Oldest order date'
This brings the date through as 11/06/2015, which is preferable.
But I have noticed that doing this has affected the output: the MIN function no longer returns the first (oldest) date, but a completely different value.
Obviously my changing the formatting for the date has affected the MIN output. Is there any way I can amend the formatting of the date without this happening?
Ok I have a query "SELECT ColumnNames FROM tbl1" let's say the values returned are "age, sex, race".
Now I want to be able to create an "update" statement like "UPATE tbl2 SET Col2 = age + sex + race" dynamically and execute this UPDATE statement. So, if the next select statement returns "age, sex, race, gender" then the script should create "UPDATE tbl2 SET Col2 = age + sex + race + gender" and execute it.
My goal is to select values from the same date range for a month on month view to compare values month over month. I've tried using the date trunc function but I'm not sure what the best way to attack this is. My thoughts are I need to somehow select first day of every month + interval 'x days' (but I don't know the syntax). In other words, I want to see
Select Jan 1- 23rd feb 1-23rd march 1-23rd april 1-23rd ,value from table
Presently using CONVERT(VARCHAR(11), [ExpiryDate], 100) to get close to the correct format.Only stumbled across this by accident so am assuming there might be better hidden 'treasures' .Formatting dates seems to be my biggest time-consuming activity and I just don't seem to get better at it!
I'm trying to write a select statement that will show me the total payments, last payment date, and last payment amount for each client. I get results but it is all payments. Can anyone help me with this?
Thank you,
Here is what I have tried:
SELECT dbo.tblClients.Client_ID, Sum(dbo.tblPaymentReceipts.[Amount Paid]) AS SumOfAmtPaid, MAX(dbo.tblPaymentReceipts.[Date]) AS LastPaymentDate, dbo.tblPaymentReceipts.[Amount Paid] INTO #temp_UNPaymentsA FROM dbo.tblPayments INNER JOIN dbo.tblPaymentReceipts ON dbo.tblPayment.Pay_ID = dbo.tblPaymentReceipts.Pay_ID WHERE (dbo.tblPaymentReceipts.[Date] BETWEEN '1/1/2001' AND '12/31/2003') GROUP BY dbo.tblPayments.Pay_ID, dbo.tblPaymentReceipts.[Amount Paid]
Select * FROM #temp_UNPaymentsA GROUP BY Client_ID, SumOfAmtPaid, LastPaymentDate, [Amount Paid] HAVING SUM(SumOfAmtPaid) BETWEEN 0 AND 1000
I am trying to create a SELECT statement that would allow my users to type in a date parameter like 6/25/04. My SELECT statement would then pull all entries for that date. The problem I am running into is that it seems SQL wants the date to be parameterized as between 6/25/04 and 6/25/04 11:59:30 PM. Is there any way around that? Again I would like my users to simply enter 6/25/04 and have all entries pulled. Thanks for any help.
SELECT Selskabsnummer, Plademærkenummer, [Fra dato], isnull([Til dato], getdate()) as [Til dato], Bemærkning FROM Gramex_DW.dbo.Plademærkelinie WITH (NOLOCK) WHERE convert(int, Plademærkenummer) = 1 ORDER BY isnull([Til dato], getdate()) ASC
I'm looking for a way to replace the [Fra dato] field with '1900-01-01' if the date earlier than this date. E.g. instances of 1800-01-01 exist.
I'm not looking for an update to the table, but merely a way to manipulate the output, as the front-end I'm developing can't handle pre 1900-01-01 date formats, and I would prefer formatting the data before it reaches he front-end as it would be easier to handle.
I have a query that displays a bunch of fields, specifically a createdon field and closedate field.I need to find the diff in days between date1 and date2 and only disiplay those results. For example: where the NumDays = a certain value. For example, 81.I have the NumDays displaying in the query, but I don't know how to reference these values in the where clause.
I need to convert a date like 08/1/2009 to 0809 I also need to show currency as 100.00 and not 100.0000 How can I do these in a select statement? SELECT CONVERT(Varchar(20),ExpirationDate,10) AS ExpirationDate, Amount FROM tblPayment I appreciate any help!
Dim Command As New SqlClient.SqlCommand("SELECT * FROM CUSTOMER_MEET WHERE (MT_WEEK = CURRENT WEEK OF THE YEAR) AND (MT_DATE = TODAY'S DATE)", conn).
My problem here is how to code today's date in a format like this - October, 09 2007. The MT_DATE column on the database table has Varchar datatype - Varchar(21).
I am selecting the count of the students in a class by suing select COUNT(studentid) as StCount FROM dbo.student But I need to use a case statement on this like if count is less than 10 I need to return 'Small class' if the count is between 10 to 50 then I need to return 'Medium class' and if the count is more than 50 then 'Big class'.
Right now I am achieving this by the following case statement
SELECT 'ClassSize' = CASE WHEN Stcount<10 THEN 'Small Class' WHEN Stcount>=10 and StCount<=50THEN 'Medium Class' WHEN Stcount>50 THEN 'Big Class' END FROM( select COUNT(studentid) as Stcount FROM dbo.student) Stdtbl
I am doing a web app on the full text search. My select statement using CONTAINS but it doesn't seem to return all the string that contains the search word I included in the query. For example:
Select CustomerID, customername, from CustomerTable where CONTAINS ((CustomerID), '"430*")
the query result only return all customer id which has space in front 430 or start with 430 ex: "xxx 430xxx" or "430 xxx" or "xxx 430 xxx"
but did not return customerID which doesn't has space in front of it Ex: x430xxx
If I use LIKE '%430%', the result return are both have space in front and don't have space in front.
I am writing a script to get all of the user objects out of a database. What I am having a hard time doing is filtering out the MS replication system objects, such as:
Have run to a select permission error when attempting insert data to a table. received the following error
Msg 229, Level 14, State 5, Line 11 The SELECT permission was denied on the object 'tableName', database 'DBname', schema 'Schema'.
Few things to note - There are no triggers depending on the table - Permissions are granted at a roll level which is rolled down to the login - The test environments have the same level of permission which works fine.
Hello! I have a field "End" in my database that is mapped as DateTime and allows nulls. Now I want to do a SQL-Select (in a SqlDataSource) like SELECT * FROM My_Table Where (([End] = @EndDate) OR ([End] = null)) @EndDate is a valid DateTime, but the second OR condition doesn't work. What is the best way to check if the [End]-field is empty or null? Thank you very much!
I wrote a select statement, I only want to see orders with max lastUpdatedOn date of 14 days and older. Now my results show dates with all orders of 14 days and older (which is OK), but all others are displayed in the "Uitgifte" column as "NULL". But those orders should not be displayed at all.
selectdistinct ProductionHeader.ProdHeaderOrdNr, ProductionHeader.PartCode, ProductionHeader.Description, ProductionHeader.Qty, (select max (ProdStatusLog.ProdStatusCode)
Select columnname from tablename order by ordercolumn
We will call that "sp_foldersOfFile". It takes 1 parameter, a fileID (int) value.
The result when I execute this from within Management Studio is a single column of 1 to n rows. I want to use these values in another stored procedure like this:
Select @userCount = COUNT(*) from permissions where UserID = @userID and (projectid = @projectID or projectid=0) and clientid = @clientID and folderpermissions in (dbo.sp_FoldersOfFile(@fileID))
The Stored Procedure compiles but it does not query the folderpermissions in the selected values from the sp_FoldersOfFile procedure. I'm sure it is a syntax issue.
I am currently trying to write a query that pulls a summation of item specific data from sales orders. For simplicity's sake, the column structure can be something like the following...
Item#, PoundsDuringWeekNumber (this would be the current week number out of the 52 weeks in a year and the pounds of the item during that week)
However, those are not going to be the only 2 columns. The idea of the query is that the user would be able to provide the query a date range (say 2 months) and the columns would then morph into the following...
Item#, PoundsDuringWeekNumber (current), PoundsDuringWeekNumber(current - 1), PoundsDuringWeekNumber (current - 2), etc. etc. PoundsDuringWeekNumber(current - 8)
Initial ideas where to create a function to execute the summation of the pounds during the date range of the week in question and execute it across the columns, but with the indeterminable number of columns, the query would not know how many times to execute the function.
I have a two tables each having a uniqueidentifier column person_id
I am trying to a select statement where I want a list of the person_id's in one table that are not in another table.
-- insert into wch_needed those who need checked
insert into #wch_needed (person_id, rendered_by ) select distinct e.person_id, e.rendered_by from #wch_who o, encounter e where o.person_id not in (select distinct person_id from #wch_have ) and o.person_id = e.person_id
the where conditional
where o.person_id not in (select distinct person_id from #wch_have )
I am using a OLE DB source task and i want to setup a parameter in the select statement. Is this possible and how would this be done. I know you can pass a parameter in the where clause like:
select id, lname, fname, startDate, endDate from Employee where id = ?
How would i set startDate and endDate as parameters as i would like to be able to change these parameters when running the package. I would like to set dates in the select statement as parameters like how you would in the where clause.
Select id, lname, fname, ? startDate, ? endDate, from employee where id = ?
I would like to be able to change these dates without having to go in to the package and hard code it back in there and then deploy.
The package uses a OLE DB source to Flatfile Destination.
