i got this error msg when installing 2005 SQL Server components only on my system:
SQL Server Setup cannot continue because an earlier version of Office Web Components is installed on this computer. Uninstall Office Web Components, and then run installation again.
i could not find any info on this error. any ideas?

I'm very disappointed that OWC has been "deprecated" ie. ripped out - see http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143509.aspx . This is a major step backwards as we have got our users used to pivottables - they allow them to restructure and group summary data the way they want to save us admins from providing every possible grouping combination. Aaarrrgghhhh!
I tried the code from the above but even after restarting the SSRS and IIS no joy. The Apress Pro SSRS 2005 book also complains about the deprecation, and offers an augmented code for the rsreportserver.config file but it still doesn't work:

I appreciate another thread mentions poss necessity of previous DLL however we don't have old installations and old DLLs surely shouldn't be nec. Any further help greatly appreciated.

I have a problem and hopefully some can help me. I googled already al lot but I haven't found the answer.
I would like to build a Source-Script Component with Acces to MS outlook (I use the Book "SSIS" from Kirk Haselden as a Guideline).
I downloaded and installed "Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook" .
I can find it the GAC.
I also installed VSTO 2005 and even run the VSTO 2005 checker, which shows that everything is ok.
But when I try to add the reference to my project it isn't there.
While adding a reference I only see a ".net" tab.
From what I found so far there should be "com" tab, where I should find "MS.Office.Interop.Outlook".
Can some help me to make the reference ??

I am having a problem with connecting to SQL Server 2005 database from Office Business Scorecard Manager 2005 (the connection string i am using is: provider=SQLOLEDB;Data source=server_name; Initial catalog=database_name). But the connection failed. Would please any experts here shed me any light on what is the problem and how to fix it then? As there is no any forum for Office Business Scrorecard manager 2005. Therefore I post my thread here as it is related to the connection to SQL Server 2005 database engine, thought here is the best place for this question.

I am trying to install the SQL Server 2005 SP2 but before the installation begins, the installation fails and it displays the following error "Hotfix.exe is not a valid Win32 application". I downloaded both the X64 version and the IA64 version. It didn't work in both cases.

I am trying to use a new microsoft add-in for office 2007. I installed the 180 day trial version of SQL Server 2005 and according to the instructions it was suppose to be very easy to connect the add in to SQL. I downloaded SQL Server Express 2005 SP2 from Microsoft site. I tried to install it but I get this error message: An Installation package for the product Microsoft SQL Server Native Client cannot be found. Try the installation again using a valid copy of the isntallation package 'sqlncli.msi'
What does this mean...can someone tell me where I can get a working copy of the SQL Server Express. I am installing it on tha WindowsXP laptop
I'm not experienced with SQL Server 2005.I've got a live copy of my database running on the web server.I've got another copy running on my desktop that I make changes to.Whats the best way to sync between the two so:1. I don't have to take the application offline2. I don't loose any data from the live database3. But I can implement changes to tables and/or add new tables

I'm having some problems installing MS SQL server express edition. I get the following error:

after i installed sql server 2005 DM add-ins, i tried using it with office 2007 so i choose (start---->all programs----->microsoft sql 2005 dm add-ins---->getting started) so the getting started wizzard was opened, i selected from it (use an existing instance of microsoft sql server 2005 analysis services that i adminster) because i already had a version of it installed on my computer. then i tried to connect to analysis services by selecting 'server name'=local host, an error appeared which is "unable to discover meta data on the server 'local host' . user noha needs to be adminstrator of the server to run the configuration tool". how can i be the adminstrator of the server?????????.........plz reply me soon,thanks in advance

I installed the 180 day trial version of SQL Server 2005 on my local machine and according to the instructions it was suppose to be very easy to connect the excel add in to SQL. I am receiving an error message which I cannot find a resolution to using the readme file and wonder if you can help.

Unable to connect to server 'localhost'. Please make sure user 'ARTIMUS' has at least read permission to some database on the server.

I would like to install the Sql Server 2005 on Vista RTM. prevoiusly I had Vista RC1 on which it was working fine.
Now, as the installation starts, the Vista Error dialog box gets appeared and the asks for the debugging, close or Online solution.
Please help me to install that.

I am installing SQL Server 2005 on a server (Windows Server Enterprise Edition 2003 SP2) that is not domain controller and on the screen "Service Account" I checked the box "Customize for each service account" and typed a domain account (it has permission to "logon as a service"), its password and domain, and when I click the "Next" button, I am getting the error below:"SQL Server Setup could not validate the service accounts. Either the service accounts have not been provided for all of the services being installed, or the specified username or password is incorrect. For each service, specify a valid username, password, and domain, or specify a built-in system account. "

I'd like to install SQL SERVER 2005 Express Edition ,I begin to install it from DVD but during the installation it dosn't ask me about any instance and after installation there isn't SQLExpress service and I can't use sql server .(there are not MSSQL and Binn directory in sql server 2005) but when I install visual studio 2005 and after that I install sql server 2005 it ask me for name of instance and with this way every thing is ok and I use sql server completely.
I 'd like to know the complete installation of sql server 2005 is depend on installation of visual studio 2005 befor it ?if not how can I introduce any instance after installation of sel server 2005 .

I have setup my home computer as a server and assigned a static IP to it. I installed SQL Server 2005 Developer and allowed remote connections to it through the Surface Area Config tool, added port 1433 TCP and 1434 UDP to firewall's exception list, and started the SQL Server Browser service.
Now I can't seem to remote connect to this SQL Server from my office network. Is there something I'm doing wrong here?

I downloaded the SQL server 2005 trival version (180 days trival
peroid) from the MS website. But i got a error saying that I have
don't have enough space to extract the package on my C: drive when I
do the installation. Actually I have 13g space on my c drive, so I
may be miss something? I looked up the internet and found a solution
using SET TEMP=C:TEMP and SET TMP=C:TEMP, but it doesn't work for me.
Does anyone have a better idear? I had a SQL 2005 express edition
installed on my laptop before, but I have remove it, maybe I did not
remove it completely and cause this problem?

We deploy an application that uses SQL Server Express 2005. One of our test engineers tried to use our setup on Windows XP SP 3. But the SQL server installer gave an error - unable to update msxml6r.dll. Is this a bug of the SQL Server installer or do we need to make use of a more recent version of msxml6?

I have problem when installing SQL 2005 Enterprise to my Windows 2003 R2 cluster. I install the SQL instance on the first node in my cluster, it analyses the cluster and comes up with no errors or warnings, i answer all the installation questions and proceed with the installation. When installing the SQL engine I see the status changing as the instance is started and then stopped again etc, finally the status changes to "removing backup files" when it get an error that reports:
"The setup has encountered an unexpected error while Completing Commit. The error is: The specified module could not be found."
Unfortunately there isnt any more information to go on. Any help would be appreciated.

I am using Windows 2000 Professional SP4 and using 32 bit installer - SQLServer2005SP2-KB921896-x86-ENU.exe

When the setup program tries to start the database service (the last step of installation), it indicates an error 29503.
The SQL Server service failed to start. For more information, see the SQL Server Books Online topics, "How to: View SQL Server 2005 Setup Log Files" and "Starting SQL Server Manually."

Today we moved from 32bit to 64bit computing environment. 64bit Window server 2003 and SQL 2005 are now our playing ground. And 32 bit Office 2003 is also installed. Excel in Office program plays important roll in our mission.
One of our routine task is that
step 1. get Excel data files from other websites and
step 2. extract specific data from them and
step 3. converting them into some type of data that can be compatible with SQL
Our problem occured in step 3. To convert data, we realised taht 64 bit excel driver, which we believe is not yet available, is required.
My questions are:
1. Is 64 bit excel driver (of office 2003 or office 2007) available now?
2. Is there any way OR IS IT POSSIBLE to use 32 bit excel driver with 64bit SQL 2005?
If possible, please enlighten me.
I would appreciate it very much if anybody answer my questions.

Ok. I have 2005 standard with sp2 installed. Went to create a maintenance plan and low and behold the component is missing. Ok.. no big deal, i'll just add it. Of course you know this is the error I get.
To change an existing instance of Microsoft SQL Server 2005 to a different edition of SQL Server 2005, you must run SQL Server 2005 Setup from the command prompt and include the SKUUPGRADE=1 parameter.
Ok.. doesn't seem too bad. So I go to a dos prompt. d: oolssetup.exe skuupgrade=1
Same error.

I installed SQL 2005 on x64 machine and notice that my Y: drive (data drive) has these additional directories (shown below). I know those files are components of €śMicrosoft Application Error Reporting€?. They are shared among multiple applications, hence them being in €ścommon files€?. After disabling the error reporting using Microsoft SQL Server 2005->Configuration Tools->Error and Usage Reporting, can I get rid of those directories or specify which directory that it should go to? Has anyone seen this before? Thanks.

I am installing SQL 2005 on a 2-node cluster running on Windows 2003 R1. When I try to install SQL 2005 on my cluster, I get an installation error. The error stops the installation while checking system configuration after installing prerequisites. The log file includes the following message

This happens when I run the steup from Node1 .When I run the installation on Node I get the same error with the machine name as Node1 .
I tried Enabling Netbios over TCPIP for the heartbeat network however with no results
Can somebody please provide the next steps .A step by step approach will be greatly appreciated .
