So if someone makes a change to a vendor address, it creates a new row with the new address and a new "RowVersion" number is created. Right now this query will pull both addresses. I need it to pull the row with the highest rowversion number. The datatype for the RowVersion column is "int", and VEND_ID I believe is the unique identifier for the rowversion.
I have basic knowledge of T-SQL and I am using Cursors to get the first value, the last value and the peak value and some other values from other tables. I found some examples on google but the code I am using is mixed up. I am using multiple Cursors. I need to join three tables to get the result set into the Cursor. The first example uses 2 tables.
The above code seems totally inefficient but it gives the correct result. Now I want to pull some more value and join a third table (TABLE z) in the above CURSORS and not sure how to make it working using CURSORS.I would like to use the following in the CURSORS above.
SELECT x.publishdate, y.firstname, y.lastname, y.age, z.initialValue AS FirstValue, z.HighestValue AS Highest, z.LastValue AS Last FROM TABLE x LEFT OUTER JOIN TABLE y ON x.id = y.id INNER JOIN TABLE z ON x.id = z.id
SELECT P.Publication ,P.Publication_type ,S.Subscriber_ID ,S.Update_Mode FROM MSPublications P INNER JOIN MSSubscriptions S ON P.Publication_ID = S.Publication_ID
give me publication_type=0. So it is transactional replication but how do we know that is pull or push?
We have a custom web C#/SQL2K8R2 workflow application that I need to pull Oracle data into a varchar(max) field as an XML DOM document. I have no problem pulling the Oracle data using OLEDB, but I'm not sure how to create the XML DOM doc. Once I get it into the DOM doc, I then need to assign metadata about the XML DOM doc and insert it all into a staging table:
CREATE TABLE [stg].[EtlImports]( [EtlImportId] [int] IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL, [EtlSource] [varchar](50) NOT NULL, [EtlType] [varchar](50) NULL, [EtlDefn] [varchar](max) NULL, --Either a SQL statement or path to file on disk [EtlData] [varchar](max) NULL, --BLOB field to hold the XML data or FILESTREAM path to file on disk [EtlDateLanded] [datetime] NOT NULL, [EtlDateProcessed] [datetime] NULL, [EtlStatus] [varchar](50) NULL, [Comments] [varchar](4000) NULL ) ON [PRIMARY] TEXTIMAGE_ON [PRIMARY]
I will have a separate SSIS package to pull the [XML/File] field and process the data into the workflow tables. Is there a wasy I can use the ADO Record-set Destination task to accomplish this, or do I have to create a custom C# script to create the XML DOM Doc?
I'm developing a Windows Mobile application, which is using RDA Pull for retrieving data from SQL Server 2005 database to PDA. Please, see the example:
Code Snippet
using (SqlCeEngine engine = new SqlCeEngine(connStr))
the sqlcesa30.dll cannot connect to SQL Server database.
In the sqlcesa30.log then I found following line:
Code Snippet
2007/04/17 10:43:31 Thread=1EE30 RSCB=16 Command=PULL Hr=80040E4D Login failed for user 'test'. 18456
The user 'test' is member of db_owner, db_datareader and public roles for the Demo database and in SQL Server Management Studio I'm able to login to the Demo database with using the 'test' users credentials and I'm able to run the select command on 'mytable'.
So, what's wrong? Why the sqlcesa30.dll process cannot login to the Demo database, and from another application with using the SAME connection string it works?
I need to pull data using input from one table in sql server 2005. I have to query against the sql server 2000 database and pull data into sql server 2005. I have a list of ids that I have to pass to a query to get the desired data. What is the best practice for this. Can I use SSIS or do I need to build an app in C#? Can somebody please reply back?
There are a few features in the new SQL Server - Reporting Services that I really need in production. I have tested everything and it works great. I am running the CTP version since Microsoft is saying they aren't releasing the release version until 3rd quarter 2008.
Since Microsoft won't sell SQL 2008 until 3rd quarter, can I run the CTP in production until the release and then purchase SQL 2008?
Hello - does anyone have experience w/SQL Server 2005 in a virtual environment? I'm considering this for a production environment but not sure if performance will suffer. Our databases will have a lot of writing but not too much reading. A SSRS solution is currently the only app. connecting to the SQL db. Max users to server at any given time will be very low (~10 users max). But the databases are pulling in data from other, outside multiple data sources on a daily basis.
Hi, In my application i am storing the data in a database(server A). And i have a scenario where in a middle server(server B) is there in which i need to create a table and pull the data from one of the tables from my original database server(server A) into second database server(server B). Where can i get the code to write a job script which can connect from server B to server A and pull the data from the table and delete that data from the table in server A. Can any give me the code or link where i can find the code. Please help. Thanks
I run a query from Excel to pull the data from SQL server and I have created another worksheet to add my columns for different analysis and costs. When someone add another line in SQL against an order or a customer then manually added columns data goes out of sync.Is there anyway when I refresh the RAWDATA or anything changes on SQL table then it should sync my formatted worksheet.
Question of such plan, to documentation to Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition it is written, that the given product supports only PUSH replication, however in his{its} structure there is an agent replmerg.exe which description says:
replication merge. Synchronization means, that the agent of merge transfers changes from the subscriber to the publisher, and then transfers changes from the publisher on the subscriber €¦
And so the question if this agent is present at this edition, whether that is possible to adjust manually his{its} call, or through Windows the agent, for realization PULL replication or it is impossible and for what reasons?
Hello! Recently, I set up server with Windows Web Server 2008 RC1, SQL 2008 Express beta, .NET 3.5, IIS 7. I'm running ASP.NET web application with SQL database. Everything works fine until the first application state on the server expires. After that, any postback that starts a new application state on the server and connects to the database, results in the following error: Failed to generate a user instance of SQL Server due to a failure in starting the process for the user instance. The connection will be closed. Is this a bug that will be fixed in release of Windows / SQL or am I doing something wrong? Many thanks for help, Jan
Could someone give me the general syntax to pull xml data from a web server that I have access to? I do know that I can not use an ip address, I have to use the hostname, etc.
I was using something like
FROM OPENROWSET(BULK '\SERVERNAMESHAREPATHDATAFILE.XML', SINGLE_BLOB) as x
instead of using SERVERNAME I am user http:\www.mycompanyname.commycompanynamestoredata.xml
I do not understand why this does not work. I hope I gave enough information for this.
Hey guys, i finally connected to the db fine however for some reason i cannot pull the data. I was hoping somebody here might be able to help me. The code is below
Function MyQueryMethod() As System.Data.DataSet Dim connectionString As String = "server='xxxx'; user id='xxxx'; password='xxxxxx'; database='wel"& _ "sh_indiv'" Dim dbConnection As System.Data.IDbConnection = New System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection(connectionString) Dim queryString As String = "SELECT [test12].[name], [test12].[grade] FROM [test12]" Dim dbCommand As System.Data.IDbCommand = New System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand dbCommand.CommandText = queryString dbCommand.Connection = dbConnection Dim dataAdapter As System.Data.IDbDataAdapter = New System.Data.SqlClient.SqlDataAdapter dataAdapter.SelectCommand = dbCommand Dim dataSet As System.Data.DataSet = New System.Data.DataSet dataAdapter.Fill(dataSet) Return dataSet End Function im kinda new to programming with vb for asp.net pages so please bare with me.
CASE WHEN com.completion_date IS NOT NULL AND dim.DayName <> 'Saturday' THEN DATEDIFF(d, com.current_task_target_date,com.completion_date) - non1.NoWorkDays WHEN com.completion_date IS NOT NULL AND dim.DayName = 'Saturday' THEN DATEDIFF(d, com.current_task_target_date,com.completion_date) ELSE NULL END AS 'DaysOverTarget'
Some of the figures coming back are minus figures. How could I get the minus figures reported to be 0.00?
Below is the full TSQL
SELECT DISTINCT com.comm_reference AS 'Referance' ,com.crt_date AS 'CreatedDate' ,com.current_task_target_date AS 'TargetDate' ,com.completion_date AS 'CompletionDate' ,CASE WHEN com.completion_date IS NOT NULL AND dim.DayName <> 'Saturday' THEN DATEDIFF(d, com.crt_date,com.completion_date) - non.NoWorkDays
I downloaded the €œMicrosoft SQL Server 2008 Express CTP, February 2008€? from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=749BD760-F404-4D45-9AC0-D7F1B3ED1053&displaylang=en
I simply replaced the 2005 file €œSQLEXPR.EXE€? with the 2008 file €œ€?, recompiled the installation and tested only for it to fail. I than read the 2008 books online and noted the change in command line options.
I then changed the command line to suit the Microsoft 2008 books online, recompiled the installation and tested only for it to fail once more.
Interestingly I tested the install from the default GUI and at the point of adding the €œsa€? login credentials it fails to allow the installation to proceed. Strangely by selecting the windows authentication credentials, €œnext€? than €œback€? it now allows me to add the €œsa€? login credentials and continues to install correctly as required.
I hope I have explained this clearly enough.
1. Is this a bug in the €œMicrosoft SQL Server 2008 CTP, February 2008€? installation? 2. If so is this causing the command line install options to fail? 3. How do I obtain a version of €œMicrosoft SQL Server 2008 Express€? that will work installing from the command line?
I am using a Compact Framework 2.0 on a mobile 5.0 with a local Microsoft SQL Compact Edition 2005 database. The backend database is a Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and I am trying to pull a 45000 rows table (the table has 2 varchars(8) forming a primary key and an INTEGER column).
I currently have a Vs.Net 2003 Pocket PC application that uses sql server ce 2.0 to push and pull data from Sql Server 2000 to the Pocket PC. The sscesa20.dll isapi agent is installed on a Windows 2000 server and points to another server that hosts the SQL database. In this configuration everything works like a charm. I am in the process of upgrading my application server to Windows 2003 Server but the RDA PULL process does not work, giving an Native Error of 28035 EVERY time. I use the exact same code in the app but when I point to the isapi agent on the 2003 box it does not work. When I connect to the the sscesa20.dll via the Pocket IE it returns the "Sql Server CE Server Agent" message. When I do an RDA.Submit it works and the SQL table is updated as expected.
I have configured IIS 6 with the proper web extensions I have turned off the firewall and antivirus on the server. I have reinstalled the server agent several times. I set up the sscesa20.dll manually. I removed all file level security. I opened up the virtual directory. I verified the ddl versions match.
I'm dead in the water right now. I'm not sure what else to try.
Hi! i have a column named number(int),ref_number(char),date(date),creator(ch ar)...what would be my query string, if posible, to get the highest value for clumn 'number'? by the way im using SQL Desktop Engine... any inputs will be greatly appreciated...thanks in advanace!
We can use comparison operators with strings as well. Hence, I tried to use the following query on a SQL Server 2012 instance with the sample AdventureWorks2012 database (the collation of the database and of the column is the default:
SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS):
USE AdventureWorks2012 ; GO
--Returns 5 records SELECT pp.Name FROM Production.Product AS pp WHERE pp.Name >= N'Short' AND pp.Name <= N'Sport' ; GO
The query only returns 5 records. This despite the fact that the search is an inclusive search and the Production.Product table contains records that begin with "Sport".
Now, when I replace "Sport" with "Sporu" (just moving one character up in the alphabet to verify whether characters after the word have any impact on the search) gives me 8 records.
USE AdventureWorks2012 ; GO
--Returns 8 records SELECT pp.Name FROM Production.Product AS pp WHERE pp.Name >= N'Short' AND pp.Name <= N'Sporu' ; GO
What's going on inside of SQL Server that allows it to fetch "Short-Sleeve Classic Jersey" for the starting word "Short" but prevents it from fetching "Sport-100 Helmet" for the ending word "Sport" despite the search being an inclusive search?
I am trying to import this years worth of failed logins and last successful login for each user out of the logs using master.dbo.xp_readerrorlog. The script essentially loops through the linked servers I have on my DBA box and reaches out for the log data. It works, but here is the error I am getting on most of our production servers:
OLE DB provider "SQLNCLI11" for linked server "AWSCADENCEDB01" returned message "The partner transaction manager has disabled its support for remote/network transactions.".
Msg 7391, Level 16, State 2, Line 17 The operation could not be performed because OLE DB provider "SQLNCLI11" for linked server "AWSCADENCEDB01" was unable to begin a distributed transaction.
I know how to enable distributed transactions on the servers that error out, but if it is not needed for anything other then my audit script, I doubt the business will approve me turning on distributed transactions at those locations (so I am not even going to ask).
I am attempting to setup a singular audit .rdl with the information I want to review quarterly.
CREATE PROC [dbo].[Import_Login_Data] AS IF EXISTS ( SELECT 1 FROM master.sys.servers WHERE is_linked = 1
I've successfully carried out pull subscription using Wizard in SQL server 2000.
But NOW its the time to deploy the project & I've to do it programatically........
i tried to use the default stored procedures like "sp_addmergepullsubscription ", "sp_addmergepullsubscription_agent ", "sp_reinitmergepullsubscription ", with respective parameters.
Then using replmerge.exe i tried to execute the batch file But could not succeed......
Can anyone guide me from the Basics ??? (i knw the Replication Architecture its heirarchy....but have NO idea of performing it Programatically......!!!!!!!!)
by BASICS, i mean......how should i execute the resp. stored procedures with what parametes & the order i should follow in order to successfully pull a merge subscription in SQL server 2000.
if a Sample code is mentioned as example, would be better for me to understand....
