SQL Server 2008 :: Trigger Fire On Each Inserted Row To Insert Same Record Into Remote Table
Sep 9, 2015
I have two different SQL 2008 servers, I don't have permission to create a linked server in any of them. i created a trigger on server1.table1 to insert the same record to the remote server server2.table1 using OPENROWSET
i created a stored procedure to insert this record, and i have no issue when i execute the stored procedure. it insert the recored into the remote server.
The problem is when i call the stored procedure from trigger, i get an error message.
Stored Procedure:
USE [DB1]
GO
SET ANSI_NULLS ON
GO
SET QUOTED_IDENTIFIER ON
[Code] ....
When i try to insert a new description value in the table i got the following error message:
No row was updated
the data in row 1 was not committed
Error source .Net SqlClient Data provider.
Error Message: the operation could not be performed because OLE DB
provider "SQLNCLI10" for linked server "(null)" returned message "The partner transaction manager has disabled its support for remote/network transaction.".
correct the errors entry or press ESC to cancel the change(s).
I am sure someone must have run into this before. I have a couple of tables with a parent child relationship.
I created a trigger on the insert of the parent but don't want it to fire until both the parent and child have been inserted into.
However sometimes the child may not get inserted in to at all. In other words it is a 1 to 0 or more relationship.
I created the whole insert into the parent and the child and wrapped it all up in a transaction hoping that the trigger would not fire until the transaction actually completed.
However such is not the case and it fires when the parent is inserted into but nothing is inserted into the child yet even though that is part of the transaction.
Is it possible to postpone trigger fire until after both parent and child table values have been inserted?
A job runs every morning at 3.00 am to back up a database. Many of the tables have triggers on to write updates, deletes and inserts to audit tables.A typical trigger looks like this.
USE [ProjectDB_Live] GO /****** Object: Trigger [dbo].[trgStakeHolders] Script Date: 03/02/2015 10:23:38 ******/ SET ANSI_NULLS ON GO SET QUOTED_IDENTIFIER ON
[code]....
I added a trigger to a table over the weekend - structured the same as the one above and, when the back up ran last night, it copied every row in the table into the audit table as if every row in the table had been updated.
I have a problem described as follows: I have a table with one instead of insert trigger:
create table TMessage (ID int identity(1,1), dscp varchar(50)) GO Alter trigger tr_tmessage on tmessage instead of insert as --Set NoCount On insert into tmessage
[code]....
When I execute P1 it returns 0 for Id field of @T1.
How can I get the Identity in this case?
PS: I can not use Ident_Current or @@identity as the table insertion hit is very high and can be done concurrently. Also there are some more insertion into different tables in the trigger code, so can not use @@identity either.
I'm inserting from TempAccrual to VacationAccrual . It works nicely, however if I run this script again it will insert the same values again in VacationAccrual. How do I block that? IF there is a small change in one of the column in TempAccrual then allow insert. Here is my query
INSERT INTO vacationaccrual (empno, accrued_vacation, accrued_sick_effective_date, accrued_sick, import_date)
I create a Trigger that allows to create news row on other table.
ALTER TRIGGER [dbo].[TI_Creation_Contact_dansSLX] ON [dbo].[_IMPORT_FILES_CONTACTS] AFTER INSERT AS
[code]...
But if I create an INSERT with 50 rows.. My table CONTACT and ADDRESS possess just one line.I try to create a Cursor.. but I had 50 lines with an AdressID and a ContactID differently, but an Account and an AccountId egual on my CONTACT table :
Does anyone have a stored procedure for sending an email (using SQLMail) when a new record is added to a database table?
I have SQLMail all setup, I just need a good example of a stored procedure or trigger that will sending an email with the details for a new record entry into a table.
Is there a way to make a sql table trigger fire off conditionally on calling app?We have this vendor app database which also have in-house custom built app operates on them. Some one are thinking using triggers to audit second part of the app activities, but want to skip the vendor app part of operation for at least performance reason. To my knowledge, the answer is no. An insert trigger will fire off whenever there is an insert. It doesn't provide a mechanism to check which app/process first, then conditionally fire or not fire.
I have tables that I want to fire either an update or insert trigger on.I could write a script containing a long list of inserts but I'm looking forsomething simpler. Would isql work? Any special conditions to get it towork?I've tried tricks like 'update x set col = col' or 'update x set col = col +'' 'All the alternatives seem to have problems. Within a trigger, I'm trying to create a unique table name (using the NEWID()) which I can store the data that is found in the inserted and deleted tables.
Dear all, I am using C# , asp.net and sql server 2005. Let me explain the situation. I have written procedure to insert data into the table and return last inserted value by @@identity variable. Now my question is how do I execute this process so that I can Get last inserted variable values Please help thanks
What statement do I use, as part of an insert trigger, to insert xml data from the xml database to a flat file database, to check if a record with a specific ID exists to delete first then insert the changed record, instead of adding the changes or an updated from the original xml database.
What I’m trying to do is take the xml formatted data out of one sql server database and insert the data only in that xml into a another sql database. So I can play with the data.
Problem is if the data in the xml is updated or changed for a specific record on the original xml database then the trigger inserts another copy into the created database (which I don’t want).
Is there a way to fire a trigger when a particular user (with sql login) logs into sql server? We are planning to use the above trigger to start a job which inturn records some inf.
hi, i am writing a trigger to log inserts, updates and deletes in a table and would like to also enter the user details ie who did the transaction. is the spid in the inserted table? if not how do i get this information?
I have a report that summarizes hospital readmissions. Some months may only have a female or male patient that is readmitted but, I want to show both months either way.
I am trying to create a trigger on a table but when I check the syntax it tells me that "The column prefix 'inserted' does not match with a table name or alias used in this query"
CREATE TRIGGER trg_Structural_GenerateBarcode ON [dbo].[tbStructuralComponentSchedule] AFTER INSERT AS DECLARE @iCount int, @cBarcode char (25), @cCode char(4) DECLARE @cProject char(7), @cComponent char(10), @iEntryID int
I like to use the table "Inserted" within exec(), but it doesn't work because the scope is different. Does anyone have some sort of solution to this problem? The reason I am doing it this way is because I have a table consist of 200+ columns of bit types that contains permission information (The worest design i have ever seen!).
Code Snippet --gather column names
declare @ScreenPermissions nvarchar(256)
declare c_Permission cursor for SELECT [name] FROM syscolumns WHERE id = ( SELECT id FROM sysobjects WHERE type = 'U' AND [NAME] = 'ScreenPermissions' ) and [name] like 'Allow%'
open c_Permission fetch next from c_Permission into @ScreenPermissions while @@fetch_status = 0 begin
exec('INSERT INTO EmployeeInRoles (EmployeeID, RoleID) ' + 'select i.EmployeeID, r.RoleID ' + 'from inserted as i ' + ' inner join ScreenPermissions AS sp on sp.EmployeeID = i.EmployeeID and sp.' + @ScreenPermissions + ' = 1 ' + ' inner join Roles AS r on r.LoweredRoleName = Lower(' + '''' + @ScreenPermissions + '''' + ')' )
fetch next from c_Permission into @ScreenPermissions end close c_Permission DEALLOCATE c_Permission
I am trying to update one table when records are inserted in another table.
I have added the following trigger to the table “ProdTr” and every time a record is added I want to update the field “Qty3” in the table “ActInf” with a value from the inserted record.
My problem appears to be that I am unable to fill the variables with values, and I cannot understand why it isn’t working, my code is:
ALTER trigger [dbo].[antall_liter] on [dbo].[ProdTr] for insert as begin declare @liter as decimal(28,6)
I want to insert a row for a Global user in Table 'A' whenever ADO.Net code inserts a Local user row into same table. I recommended using a trigger to implement this functionality, but the DBA was against it, saying that stored proecedures should be used, since triggers are unreliable and slow down the system by placing unecessary locks on the table. Is this true OR the DBA is saying something wrong? My thinking is that Microsoft will never include triggers if they are unreliable and the DBA is just wanting to offload the extra DBA task of triggers to the programmer so that a stored procedure is getting called, so he has less headache on his hands. Thanks
I want to pass the 'inserted' table from a trigger into an SP, I think I need to do this by dumping inserted table into a temporary table and passing the temp table. However, I need to do this for many tables, and don't want to list all the column names for each table/trigger (maintenance nightmare).
Can I dump the 'inserted' table to a temp table WITHOUT specifying the column names?
I wanted to know if it is possible to run a stored proc (report) when a new record is inserted / updated into a certain table. Also if it could do so for records with a column that meet a certain criteria ie. sell description like '%test%'
We have a database on a 2005 box, which we need to keep in sync with one on a 2014 box (until we can turn off the one on 2005). The 2005 database is still being updated with changes that must be applied to the 2014 database, given the nature of the data (medical documents) we need to ensure updates are applied to the 2014 database in very near real time (these changes are - for example - statuses, not the documents themselves).
Cunning plan #1, ulgy - not at all a fan of triggers - but use an after update trigger to run a sp on the remote box via a linked server in this format, with a SQL Server login for the linked server with permissions to EXEC the remote proc.
CREATE TRIGGER [dbo].[SourceUpdate] ON [dbo].[SourceTable] AFTER UPDATE AS SET XACT_ABORT ON; SET NOCOUNT ON; IF UPDATE(ColumnName)
[Code] ....
However, while the sp can be run against the linked server as a standalone query OK, when running it in a trigger it's throwing
OLE DB provider "SQLNCLI" for linked server "WIBBLE" returned message "The transaction manager has disabled its support for remote/network transactions.".
Msg 7391, Level 16, State 2, Procedure TheAfterUpdateTrigger, Line 19
The operation could not be performed because OLE DB provider "SQLNCLI" for linked server "WIBBLE" was unable to begin a distributed transaction.
Whether it actually possible to call a proc on a remote box via a trigger and if so what additional hoops need to be jumped through (like I said, it'll run OK called via SSMS)?
is there any way of getting the identity without using the "@@idemtity" in sql??? I'm trying to use the inserted event of ObjectDataSource, with Outputparameters, can anybody help me???
I am trying to create a trigger on a table. Let's call it table ABC. Table looks like this:
SET ANSI_NULLS ON GO SET QUOTED_IDENTIFIER ON GO CREATE TABLE [dbo].[ABC]( [id] [uniqueidentifier] NOT NULL,
[Code] ....
When someone updates a row on table ABC, I want to insert the original values along with the current date and time getdate() into table ABCD with the current date and time into the updateDate field as defined below:
SET ANSI_NULLS ON GO SET QUOTED_IDENTIFIER ON GO CREATE TABLE [dbo].[ABCD]( [id] [uniqueidentifier] NOT NULL,
[Code] .....
The trigger I've currently written looks like this:
/****** Object: Trigger [dbo].[ABC_trigger] Script Date: 4/10/2015 1:32:33 PM ******/ SET ANSI_NULLS ON GO SET QUOTED_IDENTIFIER ON GO CREATE TRIGGER [dbo].[ABC_trigger] ON [dbo].[ABC]
[Code] ...
This trigger works, but it inserts all of the rows every time. My question is how can I get the trigger to just insert the last row updated?
I can't sort by uniqueidentifier in descending as those can be random.
Hi... I was hoping if someone could share me some thoughts with the issue that I am having at the moment.
Problem: When I run the package in my local machine and update local SS DB/table - new records writes OK in the table. BUT when I changed my destination meaning write record into another physical SS DB/table there is no INSERT data occurs. AND SO when I move/copy over that same package into another server (e.g. server that do not write record earlier) and run it locally IT WORKS fine too.
What I am trying to do is very simple - Add new records in a SS table using SSIS . I only care for new rows and not even changed rows. Here is my logic - 1. Create Ole DB source to RemoteSERVER - using SELECT stmt 2. I have LoopUp component that will look for NEW records - Directs all rows that don't find match and redirect rows (error output). 3. Since I don't care for any rows that is matched in my lookup - I do nothing or I trash the rows 4. I send the error rows (NEW rows) into OleDB destination
RESULTS when I run the package locally and destination table is also local - WORKS FINE; But when I run the package locally and destination table is in another Sserver (remote) - now rows is written.
The package is run thru BIDS manually so there is no sucurity restrictions attached to it.
I am not sure what I am missing. And I do not see error in my package either. It is not failing.
I am looking to created a trigger that inserts records into a log table to show the stored porcedure that has updated a specific column to a specific value in a specific table
At present I have:
CREATE TRIGGER [dbo].[trUpdaterTable] ON [dbo].[t_account]-- A DB level trigger FOR UPDATE --Event we want to capture AS IF update (document_status)
[Code] ...
However this doesn't appear to bring back the procedure that triggered the update...
The value the trigger should update on is document_status = 0
