The Transaction Ended In Trigger

May 3, 2006

During some non working days i got rid of old merge replication that I had and started new one. Today 5 of my 6 servers are working normally, but on the 6th one I am getting following error:

The transaction ended in trigger. The batch has been aborted. Table [dbo.A...] into which you are trying to insert, update, or delete data is currently being upgraded or initialized for merge replication. On the publisher data modofocations are disallowed until the upgrade completes and snapshot has succesfully run. On subscriber data modifications are disallowed until the upgrade completes or the initial snapshot has been successfully applied and it has synchronized with publisher.

Although this message is descriptive ebough, I must say that my publisher says that whole process of synchronyzing and initializing data with subscriber is done. In fact it allready did more than 100 cycles of replication.

Any idea why I get this?

Thanks,

Aleksandar

The Transaction Ended In The Trigger

Mar 4, 2008

I have a SSIS-trigger problem.

There's a trigger defined on a table that doesn't allow inserting or updating a field if the value inserted already exists in the table. Here's the trigger:

Code Snippet
set ANSI_NULLS ON
set QUOTED_IDENTIFIER ON
go
ALTER TRIGGER [tUI_ID_ISIN] ON [dbo].[T_table]
FOR INSERT, UPDATE
AS
--IF ((SELECT TRIGGER_NESTLEVEL()) = 1)
BEGIN
declare @ISIN varchar(12)
set @isin = (select id_isin from inserted )
if not @isin is null
begin
if exists (select 1 from t_titoli, inserted where t_table.cd_isin = @isin and t_table.cd_titolo <> inserted.cd_titolo)

begin
Raiserror ('ID ISIN alredy exists!', 16,1)
rollback tran
end
end
END

it all works fine when the user inserts/updates the record from the front end.

When I run the SSIS that inserts records into the table, I get the following error: The transaction ended in the trigger. The batch has been aborted.

There are no records that should fail the control. In other words, all ISINs are unique.

Any ideas?

Open-ended Querying Of DB (???)

Nov 1, 2004

I am working on a project with a couple of hundred tables and views. There is one primary table around which all other tables revolve with the primary table having somewhere around 42 to 45 million records. Some of the related tables can have many times this number of records. The data is static in that it only changes at specific intervals (once a month or so) when more records are added and some “old records are removed.

My problem is that users need to query these tables without any major restrictions. I mean, the front end will allow users to create almost any selection criteria form the many columns in the DB. The selection of values will be controlled via drop-downs and lists from where the user will select the criteria. The other consideration is that the grouping can be for any value and up to ten levels deep. Our users are not sophisticated enough to create their own SQL-like queries so we have to guide them through the process of selecting the values…

I am trying to create stored procedures that will allow this behavior but I continue to run into the problem of how to properly join the tables when the combinations are almost endless. My conclusion is that although it seems this seems to be a case where D-SQL is a good choice, there are some draw-backs I am not sure we can afford, specifically the security issues. Furthermore, the creation of a D-SQL “code-generator seems like almost impossible task and time is of the essence.

Has anyone here had any experience with a similar situation that can shed some light?

Getting Transaction ID Within A Trigger

Aug 1, 2000

SQL*Server 7.0

I have a requirement wherein I need to get the current transaction-id from a insert/update trigger. Earlier in SQL*Server 6.5 I could get it from syslogs based on current process-id whereas now in Version 7 it is not possible. I don't know how to get the output from DBCC log command for the current session and then assign it to a variable.

Can someone help?

Thank you.

Trigger Will Make Different Transaction?

Jan 16, 2002

Hi Everybody,

I have created a Insert Trigger on a Table A. And I am inserting a Record on a Table A, then Trigger which binds on a Table A will fire immediately.

My doubt is, Will the Transaction(Action) be considered as a Single Transaction(both Row Insertion on a Table and followed by Trigger action) or two different Transactions.

And what will happen if Trigger Fails if it is a Single Transaction?.

Can anybody clarify my doubt please?

Tks in Advance,
Sam

Continue Transaction If Trigger Fails

Hi guys,

I have some triggers that insert data in a table located in a remote server. If the remote server happens to be down I want to continue with the original transaction anyway. Can I use a BENGIN TRY BEGIN CATCH block to continue with the transaction in the trigger and also insert the data into a temporal local table if the remote insert fails?

Transaction Context In Use By Another Session Error In C# Sp From Trigger

May 12, 2006

I have a c# stored procedure that is being called from a trigger. When I execute it from management studio, it works just fine. But, when I update a record in the table that has the trigger that calls the sp, I get the error "transaction context in use by another session error". I've tried a few of the "fixes" that I found through searching, but so far nothing seems to work. What I've tried so far is...

Removing the transaction from my code
making sure my code is only using 1 connection
setting XACT_ABORT ON

Any other ideas? Thanks.

SQL Server 2014 :: Transaction Rollback When Multiple Threads Are Inserting Records Into Table Because Of Trigger

Jun 18, 2014

I have two tables called ECASE and PROJECT

In the ECASE table there is trigger to get the max value of case_id column in ecase based on project and increment one to that case_id value and insert into ecase table .

When we insert a new record to the ECASE table this trigger calls and insert the case_id column value.

When i run with multiple threads , the transaction is rolled back because of trigger . The reason is , on the project table the lock is happening while getting the max value of case_id column based on project.

I need to prevent the deadlock .

TRANSACTIONS In SSIS (error: The ROLLBACK TRANSACTION Request Has No Corresponding BEGIN TRANSACTION.

"The ROLLBACK TRANSACTION request has no corresponding BEGIN TRANSACTION." This error also happens on COMMIT as well and there is a preceding Execute SQL Task with BEGIN TRANSACTION tranname WITH MARK 'tran'

I know I can change the transaction option property from "supported" to "required" however I want to mark the transaction. I was copying the way Import/Export Wizard does it however I'm unable to figure out why it works and why mine doesn't work.

Anyone know of the reason?

Analysis :: Find Amount Distribution Across Different Transaction Types Under Spend Transaction

I created a Calculated measure in cube something like this : ([TransType].[TransTypeHierarchy].[TransTypeCategoryParent].&[SPEND],[Measures].[Transaction Amount]). To get only spend transactions. Now, I want to slice this measure with same hierarchy to find the amount distribution across different transaction types under spend transaction. But this query behaving like the measure doesn't have relation with measure.

you can think this as below query:
WITH
MEMBER SPEND AS ([TransType].[TransTypeHierarchy].[TransTypeCategoryParent].&[SPEND],[Measures].[Transaction Amount])
SELECT NON EMPTY {SPEND} ON 0
,NON EMPTY ([TransType].[TransTypeHierarchy].[TransTypeCategoryParent]) ON 1

How do I make use of begin transaction and commit transaction in SSIS.

As am not able to commit changes due to certain update commands I want to explicitly write begin and commit statements. but when i make use of begin and commit in OLEDB commnad stage it throws an error as follows:

Hresult:0x80004005

descriptionyntax error or access violation.

its definately not an syntax error as i executed it in sql server. also when i use it in execute sql task out side the dataflow container it doesnt throw any error but still this task doesnt serve my purpose of saving/ commiting update chanages in the database.

CLR-Based Trigger? Recursive Trigger? Common Table Expression?

Nov 14, 2006

Hey,

I'm new to this whole SQL Server 2005 thing as well as database design and I've read up on various ways I can integrate business constraints into my database. I'm not sure which way applies to me, but I could use a helping hand in the right direction.

A quick explanation of the various tables I'm dealing with:
WBS - the Work Breakdown Structure, for example: A - Widget 1, AA - Widget 1 Subsystem 1, and etc.
Impacts - the Risk or Opportunity impacts for the weights of a part/assembly. (See Assemblies have Impacts below)
Allocations - the review of the product in question, say Widget 1, in terms of various weight totals, including all parts. Example - September allocation, Initial Demo allocation, etc. Mostly used for weight history and trending
Parts - There are hundreds of Parts which will eventually lead to thousands. Each part has a WBS element. [Seems redundant, but parts are managed in-house, and WBS elements are cross-company and issued by the Government]
Parts have Allocations - For weight history and trending (see Allocations). Example, Nut 17 can have a September 1st allocation, a September 5th allocation, etc.
Assemblies - Parts are assemblies by themselves and can belong to multiple assemblies. Now, there can be multiple parts on a product, say, an unmanned ground vehicle (UGV), and so those parts can belong to a higher "assembly" [For example, there can be 3 Nut 17's (lower assembly) on Widget 1 Subsystem 2 (higher assembly) and 4 more on Widget 1 Subsystem 5, etc.]. What I'm concerned about is ensuring that the weight roll-ups are accurate for all of the assemblies.
Assemblies have Impacts - There is a risk and opportunity impact setup modeled into this design to allow for a risk or opportunity to be marked on a per-assembly level. That's all this table represents.

A part is allocated a weight and then assigned to an assembly. The Assemblies table holds this hierarchical information - the lower assembly and the higher one, both of which are Parts entries in the [Parts have Allocations] table.

Therefore, to ensure proper weight roll ups in the [Parts have Allocations] table on a per part-basis, I would like to check for any inserts, updates, deletes on both the [Parts have Allocations] table as well as the [Assemblies] table and then re-calculate the weight roll up for every assembly. Now, I'm not sure if this is a huge performance hog, but I do need to keep all the information as up-to-date and as accurate as possible. As such, I'm not sure which method is even correct, although it seems an AFTER DML trigger is in order (from what I've gathered thus far). Keep in mind, this trigger needs to go through and check every WBS or Part and then go through and check all of it's associated assemblies and then ensure the weights are correct by re-summing the weights listed.

If you need the design or create script (table layout), please let me know.

Thanks.

The trick was getting the Table Name and the Primary Key Columns.
I hope this code is found useful.

I want to be able to create a trigger that updates table 2 when a row is inserted into table 1. However I€™m not sure how to increment the ID in table 2 or to update only the row that has been inserted.

I want to be able to create a trigger so that when a row is inserted into table A by a specific user then the ID will appear in table B. Is it possible to find out the login id of the user inserting a row?

I believe the trigger should look something like this:

create trigger test_trigger
on a
for insert
as
insert into b(ID)

select i.id
from inserted i
where
--specific USER

Problem With SSIS Transaction...Transaction Scope

Jun 1, 2006

Hi,

I am having some problem with SSIS transaction. Eventhought I tried to imitate the concept that Jamie presented at http://www.sqlservercentral.com/columnists/jthomson/transactionsinsqlserver2005integrationservices.asp

. My workflow is as followed

*********************************
For Each ADO.Record in Oracle (transaction=not supported)

If (Certain_Field_Value = 'A')

Lookup Data in SQL DB with values from Oracle (transaction=not supported)

DO Sequence A (Start a Transaction , transaction=required)

INSERT/UPDATE some records in SQLDB(transaction=supported)
Finish Sequence A ( transaction should stop here)
UPDATE Oracle DB ( Execute SQLTask, transaction=not supported)
If (Certain_Field_Value = 'B')

Lookup Data in SQL DB with values from Oracle (transaction=not supported)

DO Sequence B (Start a Transaction , transaction = required)

INSERT/UPDATE some records in SQLDB (transaction=supported)
Finish Sequence A ( transaction should stop here)
UPDATE Oracle DB ( Execute SQLTask, transaction=not supported)
If (Certain_Field_Value = 'C')

------------
------------
End ForEach Loop
*************************************
My requirements are that I want separate transaction for each Sequence A, B, C, etc... If Sequence A transaction fails, the other should still be continuing with another transaction.
But I am getting an error regarding the OLEDB Error in next Task (e.g in Certain_Field_Value = 'B') "Lookup Data in SQL DB with values from Oracle ", the error message is ".......Distributed transaction completed. Either enlist this session in a new transaction or the NULL transaction. ".
What is it that I am doing wrong?

KyawAM
