Transact SQL :: Adding Count Before And After A Specific Time Doesn't Match Total Number Of Records
Nov 19, 2015
If I just use a simple select statement, I find that I have 8286 records within a specified date range.
If I use the select statement to pull records that were created from 5pm and later and then add it to another select statement with records created before 5pm, I get a different count: 7521 + 756 = 8277
Is there something I am doing incorrectly in the following sql?
DECLARE @startdate date = '03-06-2015'
DECLARE @enddate date = '10-31-2015'
DECLARE @afterTime time = '17:00'
SELECT
General_Count = (SELECT COUNT(*) as General FROM Unidata.CrumsTicket ct
I have a table called Employees which has lots of columns but I only want to count some specific columns of this table.
i.e. EmployeeID: 001
week1: 40 week2: 24 week3: 24 week4: 39
This employee (001) has two weeks below 32. How do I use the COUNT statement to calculate that within these four weeks(columns), how many weeks(columns) have the value below 32?
I have a a Group By query which is working fine aggregating records by city. Now I have a requirement to focus on one city and then group the other cities to 'Other'. Here is the query which works:
Select [City]= CASE WHEN [City] = 'St. Louis' THEN 'St. Louis' ELSE 'Other Missouri City' END, SUM([Cars]) AS 'Total Cars' From [Output-MarketAnalysis] Where [City] IN ('St. Louis','Kansas City','Columbia', 'Jefferson City','Joplin') AND [Status] = 'Active' Group by [City]
Here is the result:
St. Louis 1000 Kansas City 800 Columbia 700 Jefferson City 650 Joplin 300
When I add this Case When statement to roll up the city information it changes the name of the city to 'Other Missouri City' however it does not aggregate all Cities with the value 'Other Missouri City':
Select [City]= CASE WHEN [City] = 'St. Louis' THEN 'St. Louis' ELSE 'Other Missouri City' END, SUM([Cars]) AS 'Total Cars' From [Output-MarketAnalysis] Where [City] IN ('St. Louis','Kansas City','Columbia', 'Jefferson City','Joplin') AND [Status] = 'Active' Group by [City]
Here is the result:
St. Louis 1000 Other Missouri City 800 Other Missouri City 700 Other Missouri City 650 Other Missouri City 300
I'm looking for a way of taking a query which returns a set of date time fields (probable maximum of 20 rows) and looping through each value to see if it exists in a separate table.
E.g.
Query 1
Select ID, Person, ProposedEvent, DayField, TimeField from MyOptions where person = 'me'
Table
Select Person, ExistingEvent, DayField, TimeField from MyTimetable where person ='me'
Loop through Query 1 and if it finds ANY matching Dayfield AND Timefield in Query/Table 2, return the ProposedEvent (just as a message, the loop could stop there), if no match a message saying all is fine can proceed to process form blah blah.
I'm essentially wanting somebody to select a bunch of events in a form, query 1 then finds all the days and times those events happen and check that none of them exist in the MyTimetable table.
1 2015 ba1 137 HL EL Eco 2 2015 ba1 138 EL SL HS 3 2015 ba1 139 SL EL His
From this table i use to admit a student and select their choice of group simultaneously all the subjects associated with GROUP is save on another table.
Here is the TABLE 2 Structure and sample data:
table 2 (NAME - tblstudetail)
id studentID session course sub1 sub2 sub3
1 15120001 2015 ba1 EL SL HS 2 15120002 2015 ba1 HL EL Eco 3 15120003 2015 ba1 SL EL His 4 15120004 2015 ba1 HL EL Eco
AND so no..........................
Now i just want to COUNT the Number of Groups Filled in tblStudateil.
Hello, I am having problems with this query below: 1 SELECT Table1.Email AS Email, 2 Table2.UserName AS Username, 3 Table3.Members_Paid AS Paid, 4 (SELECT DISTINCT COUNT(*) 5 FROM Table3 AS e JOIN Table3 AS m 6 ON e.Members_Sponsor = m.Members_ID 7 WHERE (e.Members_Sponsor = m.Members_ID)) AS TotalRecords 8 FROM Table1 INNER JOIN 9 Table2 ON Table1.UserId = Table2.UserId INNER JOIN 10 Table3 ON Table2.UserId = Table3.UserID 11 WHERE (Table3.Members_Sponsor = @UserId)Basicly what I am trying to do is get all members that belong to a certain manager along with those members count total of members they have below them. The code above is giving me the count of the first member only, not different counts for each member.Hope you understand what I am trying to say and do here. Hope someone can help me out cause this hase been driving me crazy for a few days now.
I'm having problems constructing a query. I need to get a count of emails in my database, but only the emails that appear 2 or more times. Can anyone help?

I have a question regarding the total count of the table rows
Select count (name) from test. Lets say I have got 200 count. And Select count (lastname) from test1.I have got 200.And this counts I should store it in "There are nn name items awaiting your attention and nn pending lastname's awaiting your approval".
Table2 has three columns (i.e. Date, Count and Rule Type). Column “Rule Type “has a default value which is “XYZ”..Now I want to insert Data from Table1 to Table2. I am using following query:-
Column name or number of supplied values does not match table definition.I am using SQL 2012. I understand Table1 has 2 Columns but Table2 has 3 Columns. Is there anyway, I can move data from source table to Destination table where Destination Table has more number of Columns?
I need to create a stored procedure for total count of the user's. If User from front end invites other user to use my tool, that user will be stored into a table name called "test",lets say it will be stored as"Invited 1 User(s)" or if he invites 2 users it will store into table as "Invited 2 User(s)."
But now we have changed the concept to get the ISID (name of the user) and now when ever the user invites from the front end, the user who have invited should stored in two tables "test" and " test1" table .
After we get the data into test and test1 table i need the total count of a particular user from both tables test and test1.
if i invite a user , the name of the user is getting stored in both test and test1 tables. Now i want to get the count of a user from both tables which should be 1,but its showing 2.
Reason: Why i am considering the count from 2 tables is because before we were not tracking the usernames and we were storing the count in single test table.,but now we are tracking user names and storing them in both tables(test and test1).
Here is my sample code:
I need to sum it up to get the total user's from both the table but I should get 1 instead of 2
SELECT (select distinct COUNT(*) from dbo.test where New_Values like '%invited%' and Created_By= 'sam' + (select distinct count (*) from dbo.test1 where invited_by ='sam'
HiI'm migrating from Access til MySQL.Works fine so far - but one thing is nearly killing me:I got the count of total records in a variabel - (antalRecords)I got the count for the Field Q1 where the value value is = 'nej'Now I just need to calculate how many % of my records have the value 'nej'I access this worked very fine - but with MySQL ( and ASP) I just cant getit right!!! I go crazy ....My code looks like this :strSQL="SELECT COUNT(Q1) AS Q1_nej FROM Tbl_evaluering " &_"WHERE Q1 = 'NEJ' "set RS = connection.Execute(strSQL)antal_nej = RS("Q1_nej")procent_nej = formatNumber((antal_nej),2)/antalrecords * 100Hope ...praying for help ...Please ;-)best wishes -Otto - Copenhagen
Hi, How to display specific number of records? That means I want to display records starting from 3th row to 5th row. Please send your suggestions or links. Table ----- Name Age ----------------- Raja 23 Kumar 26 Suresh 30 Rani 22 Subha 32 Ganesh 25
The result will be Name Age ----------------- Suresh 30 Rani 22 Subha 32
Dear GroupI wonder whether you can give me a syntax example for a SQL Statement.Lets assume I've a table containing three columns ContactID (Primary Key),Firstname and Lastname.I would like to write a stored procedure which returns me the first tenrecords and increments an outside variable each time it runs.E.g If I run it the first time I pass the variable as 0 and it will returnme the first ten records and returns the variable value 1.When run a second time, I will pass the variable as 1 and it will return merecords 11-20 and sets the variable to 2 and so on...The difficult thing is how to tell to return me records 11-20. I can't usethe ContactID as someone might have deleted a row and e.g. ContactID 18 ismissing. In this case I only would get 9 rows returned. It always should beten. Thanks very much for your time and efforts!Kind Regards,Martin"There are 10 types of people in this world: Those that understand binaryarithmetic, and those that don't."
I have a transformation where final result set give me 25 rows of data. Now before I put into destination table, I need to add another column which will show how many total records we have. Like.
My dataset:
A 20 abc B 24 mnp c 44 apq
Now I need to add another column within my transformation before I store the result set to destination like this:
A 20 abc 3 b 24 mnp 3 c 44 apq 3
Here. new column gives count of total rows in our dataset which was 3.
How can I achieve this? Can I use derive column to this?
SELECT top 100 Ltrim([text]),objectid,total_rows,total_logical_reads , execution_count FROM sys.dm_exec_query_stats AS a CROSS APPLY sys.dm_exec_sql_text(a.sql_handle) AS b where last_execution_time >= '2015-04-07 10:01:01.01' ORDER BY execution_count DESC
But the result of execution count is from the first. I want to know it only one day.
Declare @StartDt date = '2015-03-15' Declare @EndDt date = DATEADD(M, 1, @StartDt) declare @Days int = DATEDIFF(d, @StartDt, @EndDt) declare @TBLSales as table(SaleDate date, Value money) DECLARE @Today date declare @TBLSalesCounts as table( StatusDesc varchar(100), Value money)
[Code] ....
I end up with the following result :
How would I alter my while loop to only insert the sum total of each day, instead of creating duplicates for each day.
E.g. 2015-04-22 1150.00 2015-04-21 785.00 2015-04-20 750.00
hi can anyone tell me how to count number of records(rows) in a table without using "COUNT" function.for practise iam trying to implement it through queries.
Is there any equivalent function in T-SQL (SQL Server 2014 / SQL Azure)?
Specifically, I want to be able to convert a time into UTC before inserting it into a table. Right now I am doing:
INSERT INTO Incident (IncidentDescription, dtOccurred) VALUES (@IncidentDescription, DATEADD(hour, 8, @dtOccurred))
I don't want to hardcode "8" and I want it to adjust for daylight savings time (DST).
Is there any concise solution that does not require me to define SQL functions or have lookup tables? I also don't want to use the difference between GETDATE() and SYSUTCDATETIME(), because the timezone of my server is not my local timezone.
I have a shopping cart that will get full from time to time becausecustomers click out of the site before they confirm their purchase, therefore leaving a full cart behind. I'd like to have a timestamp onthis table, so that I can delete anything that I find is more than a dayold. How can I do this? Thanks,Bill*** Sent via Developersdex http://www.developersdex.com ***Don't just participate in USENET...get rewarded for it!
