How To Create A Trigger Which Automatically Set The ID Of My Table

i have 2 tables where i require an unique ID over both. I googled a bit and discovered that i need to create an own table for this which holds the last value (because mssql unfortunately does not support sequences).
i did this but my problem now is that i want to automatically set the id of my tables with a trigger on INSERT.
hope this is possible .. or anyone have other suggestions?

Now I need to create that foreign keys table in such a way that in which ever database I run the script, this foreign keys table should be created in that particular database.

Apr 10, 2014I want to replace every single 1/1/1900 date I have in my system with null, on an entire database level. I never want them, they cause multiple issues, and I need them gone.
I have made a trigger on a test table that works for inserts, but not updates:

IF EXISTS (select * FROM inserted WHERE CheckDate ='1/1/1900')

UPDATE test SET CheckDate=Null

Also, it only works on this table, and the specific field mentioned.
I am looking for a global, databse level trigger that will replace 1/1/1900 with null whenever it appears from an insert, or an update statement.

If I dynamically put together the command and store it in variable @cmd and then execute it using
exec sp_executesql @cmd or exec (@cmd) it does not work. I get the following:

This would be used to verify things like data types, allow nulls and default values have been set to avoid mistakes. During setup of the database the first user (ex:ADM) is created using MS SQL Server Management Studio (SMS). Aug 31, 2007The problem that I am having is that with Visual Web Developer I am creating a webpage and having it directly put online, so for example when I start a new ASP.NET page, I select the location to be HTTP, with the location http://MYWEBSERVER/Website and for the language and Visual BasicI notice a couple of things, first that there is no longer a a link under the Main toolbar "Website" selection called the ASP.NET configuration. So how can I configure what I want to have users be able to do? It seems that this choice is only available if I am building the ASP.NET page on my "localhost". So that is the first problem. So I am able to get the pages to work, atleast the things such as the textboxes to show up etc, (Even things as advanced as the "Login" box). How ever when I try to get someone to try to login I am taken to a page that has an server error. The error is:
"The SSE Provider did not find the database file specified in the connection string. At the configured trust level (below High trust level), the SSE provider can not automatically create the database file. "
The Stack Trace Errors are at the bottom. I think this is happening because the automatically generated databases are not getting built online as they are on my computer. On my computer I have MSSQL express. So either the databases are not getting built for some reason, (and I think that is the case as I don't see any in the folder). So I think that somehow I have to create a database on my server, and then somehow configure the ASP.NET file, perhaps in the Web.Config file to look for that new database. Is this the correct methodology? Is there some simpler way that I can just somehow upload things as they are and have them work correctly on my server? The error says that either the Server did not find the database or that the trust level was insufficient. I don't think that is it as I just looked again and I don't see any .MDF files. So how would I go about getting this to work right? Is there a way to do this with MySQL also? So that I don't have to use MSSQL? My server only allows 1 DataBase for that.
Thanks and I hope my question makes sense. It is basically how can I get it to be able to create and check users etc. online?

Can Date Modified Col Be Automatically Updated W/o Trigger For Each Table?

I am using SQL Server 2005 and ASP.NET 2.0. We have a very simple content management system where we have to keep track of date last modified for each row in all of our content tables. I know there's a "timestamp" datatype that is used for replication scenarios, but is there anything similar that I can use to set up a date_modified column for each of my content tables that will automatically update with GETDATE() whenever anything in a given row is updated?
Or do I have to create a date_modified column of smalldatetime datatype and write a trigger on update for EVERY single table of content that I have in the database? It seems there should be an easier way to do this than to write 20 triggers for my 20 content tables.

Can DTS Automatically Create Primary Key Values Upon Export?
May 5, 2004I have two practice tables I have created and want to export the values of one into the source table. I want to know if I can export into a table and have the destination table automatically give a primary key value to a record? I haven't been able to figure this out even after fiddling with the "Enable identity insert" checkbox under the Column Mappings tab. I have created source tables with and without primary keys and neither works because of the fact that I need to have a value for a primary key in order to INSERT into the destination.
Do I have to copy the source records into a staging table and assign the PK values myself by hand? This can't be the answer.

Dec 7, 2005I want to create a trigger in SQL 2000 Enterprise, but not sure about triggers, how they work, etc. I just know that I was told I could create a trigger when new info is added to one table and check another table to see if this info is already in the other table, if not, copy the data to the other table too.
Would this be what a trigger can do for me?
