If i create a ##table using my stored procedure, I can do the select * from ##table
but when i created the #table using the stored procedure and tried to do the select * from #table
I am getting the error message invalid object #table
that means it is going out of scope.
But if i create the ##table, will that table going to remain in the database even until i drop the ##table or it gets dropped when i close the database connection.
Banti writes "IF i create temporary table by using #table and ##table then what is the difference. i found no difference. pls reply. first: create table ##temp ( name varchar(25), roll int ) insert into ##temp values('banti',1) select * from ##temp second: create table #temp ( name varchar(25), roll int ) insert into #temp values('banti',1) select * from #temp
both works fine , then what is the difference waiting for ur reply Banti"

I have a table VisitLog pkey customer_id pkey user_id visit_date visit_note
Given both id's, I need a report that will list the visit interval. Assuming the rows are entered in ordered. the result should just display a single column with rows filled with date difference. Date Format in example below is dd/MM/yyyy
I have 2 columns the first column is a counter thats always counting up like a meter, the second column is a formula that calculate the difference between the counter(column one). like
Counter Difference
1 1
3 2
6 3
9 3
11 2
13 2
17 4
25 8
The first row is taken as it is, but the second row will be difference = 3-1 the third one will be 3-6 and so on.
How can I do this in a SQL table or any other away?
1. It looks like a 'ª' delimiters between fields. I need to pull out the second column in the above example it is - 9999999999. This is the place reference, so I need that in a separate field. 2. I need a way to compare the two fields and report back the change. So in the above example shows EAST. The After image shows WEST - I need the before image of EAST in one column and the WEST in another column.
I have a table with appdt as first appointment date and the another record for the same customer# has follow up appointment.
Each customer is uniquely identified by a customer#
I need to find out if the customer came back after 200 days or more when the first appointment date was between jan12014 and Aug 31 2014. I am only interested in first follow up appointment after 30 days or more.
I created one stored procedure to update the date difference in the table . in this table i have dt1,dt2,dt3... column and diff1,diff2... I wanted to find the difference between dt2 and dt1, and dt4 and dt3 and put it in separate column.
When I compiled the stored procedure, it did not show any error. But when i execute, it shows the error:
Conversion failed when converting datetime from character string.
set ANSI_NULLS ON set QUOTED_IDENTIFIER ON go ALTER procedure [dbo].[autopost1] as begin declare inner int
CreatedDate                ID            Message  2015-05-29 7:00:00     AOOze           abc  2015-05-29 7:05:00     AOOze           start  2015-05-29 7:10:00     AOOze           pqy  2015-05-29 7:15:00     AOOze           stop  2015-05-29 7:20:00     AOOze           lmn  Â
and so on following the series for every set of same ID with 5 entries for each ID
I need to Find Maximum interval time for each ID and for condition in given message (between message like Start and Stop) I used below query and it works fine
select Id, max(CreatedDate) AS 'MaxDate',min(CreatedDate) AS 'MinDate', DATEDIFF(second, min(CreatedDate),max(CreatedDate)) AS 'MaxResponseTimeinSeconds' from Table where Id in ( SELECT distinct Id from Table where Message like 'stop') group by Id
Above query displays max response time for ID A00ze as 20 minutes, but stop message has occured at 7.15. I would need to modify the query to return max response time as 15 min(from 7.00 to 7.15).
Difference of starttime(where A00ze id started) and stoptime(where stop string is found in message).
my table does not have primary key so i created a seperate index on each of the table.
I used the recommended tablediff utility and it works successfully. But its only show the difference of records in each table and does not copy rows from source to destination and destination to source table. I was expecting database1.dbo.table1 contains same records as in database1.dbo.table2.
C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL Server90COM>tablediff /sourceserver kashif-pcs qlexpress /sourcedatabase AB /sourcetable table1 /destinationserver kashif-pcsq lexpress /destinationdatabase CD /destinationtable table2 Microsoft (R) SQL Server Replication Diff Tool Copyright (C) 1988-2005 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.
User-specified agent parameter values: /sourceserver kashif-pcsqlexpress /sourcedatabase AB /sourcetable table1 /destinationserver kashif-pcsqlexpress /destinationdatabase CD /destinationtable table2
Table [AB].[dbo].[table1] on kashif-pcsqlexpress and Table [CD].[dbo].[table2] on kashif-pcsqlexpress have 5 differences. Err Sno Src. Only 101 Src. Only 102 Dest. Only 103 Dest. Only 104 Dest. Only 105 The requested operation took 0.466767 seconds.
Can you write a short script for my problem, just like comparison of database1.dbo.table1 compares in database2.dbo.table2 and which ever records not present it should copy those and vice-versa.
It means Database1.dbo.table1 contains 5 records Database2.dbo.table2 contains 5 records
I want to compare two tables and log the difference in new table with the fields as (old value, new value, column name). The column name should be the changes value column.
IF Object_id('GoldenSecurity') IS NOT NULL DROP TABLE dbo.GoldenSecurity; IF Object_id('GoldenSecurityRowVersion') IS NOT NULL DROP TABLE dbo.GoldenSecurityRowVersion;
I was writing a query using both left outer join and inner join. And the query was ....
SELECT Â Â Â Â Â Â Â S.companyname AS supplier, S.country,P.productid, P.productname, P.unitprice,C.categoryname FROM Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Production.Suppliers AS S LEFT OUTER JOIN Â Â Â Â Â Â (Production.Products AS P Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â INNER JOIN Production.Categories AS C
[code]....
However ,the result that i got was correct. But when i did the same query using the left outer join in both the cases
i.e..
SELECT Â Â Â Â Â Â Â S.companyname AS supplier, S.country,P.productid, P.productname, P.unitprice,C.categoryname FROM Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Production.Suppliers AS S LEFT OUTER JOIN (Production.Products AS P LEFT OUTER JOIN Production.Categories AS C ON C.categoryid = P.categoryid) ON S.supplierid = P.supplierid WHERE S.country = N'Japan';
The result i got was same,i.e
supplier   country   productid   productname   unitprice   categorynameSupplier QOVFD   Japan   9   Product AOZBW   97.00   Meat/PoultrySupplier QOVFD   Japan  10   Product YHXGE   31.00   SeafoodSupplier QOVFD   Japan  74   Product BKAZJ   10.00   ProduceSupplier QWUSF   Japan   13   Product POXFU   6.00   SeafoodSupplier QWUSF   Japan   14   Product PWCJB   23.25   ProduceSupplier QWUSF   Japan   15   Product KSZOI   15.50   CondimentsSupplier XYZ   Japan   NULL   NULL   NULL   NULLSupplier XYZ   Japan   NULL   NULL   NULL   NULL
and this time also i got the same result. My question is that is there any specific reason to use inner join when join the third table and not the left outer join.
I have a data table that contains budget and actual data by month. Â I use the data to create a pivot that shows actual results next to budgeted results. Â I need a column that shows that variance between those columns. Â I think my issue is that the "Type" field contains actual and Budget. Â I sum on "Type". Â I can't seem to create a sum since those items are in the same field or am I missing something?
I am using SQL Server 2005 and trying to create a linked server on Oracle 10. I used the commands below: EXEC sp_addlinkedserver @server = 'test1', @srvproduct = 'Oracle', @provider = 'MSDAORA', @datasrc = 'testsource' exec sp_addlinkedsrvlogin @rmtsrvname = 'test1', @useself = 'false', @rmtuser='sp', @rmtpassword='sp'
When I execute select * from test1...COUNTRY I get the error. "The OLE DB provider "MSDAORA" for linked server "...." does not contain the table "COUNTRY". The table either does not exist or the current user does not have permissions on that table." The 'sp' user I am connecting is the owner of the table. What could be the problem ? Thanks a lot.
I have created a table Table with name as Varchar and id as int. Now i have started inserting the rows like, insert into Table values ('arun',20).Yes i have inserted a row in the table. Now i have got the values " arun's ", 50. insert into Table values('arun's',20) My sqlserver is giving me an error instead of inserting the row. How will you solve this problem?
I am having a table called as status ,in that table one field is there i.e. currentstatus. the rows which are having currentstatus as "ticket closed",i want to move those rows into other table called repository which is having same table structure as status table. I can do programatically. but is there any way for every 3 months system has to check and do this action means moving to repository table automatically?
I'm inserting from TempAccrual to VacationAccrual . It works nicely, however if I run this script again it will insert the same values again in VacationAccrual. How do I block that? IF there is a small change in one of the column in TempAccrual then allow insert. Here is my query
INSERT INTO vacationaccrual (empno, accrued_vacation, accrued_sick_effective_date, accrued_sick, import_date)
For reasons that are not relevant (though I explain them below *), Iwant, for all my users whatever privelige level, an SP which createsand inserts into a temporary table and then another SP which reads anddrops the same temporary table. My users are not able to create dbo tables (eg dbo.tblTest), but arepermitted to create tables under their own user (eg MyUser.tblTest). Ihave found that I can achieve my aim by using code like this . . .SET @SQL = 'CREATE TABLE ' + @MyUserName + '.' + 'tblTest(tstIDDATETIME)'EXEC (@SQL)SET @SQL = 'INSERT INTO ' + @MyUserName + '.' + 'tblTest(tstID) VALUES(GETDATE())'EXEC (@SQL)This becomes exceptionally cumbersome for the complex INSERT & SELECTcode. I'm looking for a simpler way.Simplified down, I am looking for something like this . . .CREATE PROCEDURE dbo.TestInsert ASCREATE TABLE tblTest(tstID DATETIME)INSERT INTO tblTest(tstID) VALUES(GETDATE())GOCREATE PROCEDURE dbo.TestSelect ASSELECT * FROM tblTestDROP TABLE tblTestIn the above example, if the SPs are owned by dbo (as above), CREATETABLE & DROP TABLE use MyUser.tblTest while INSERT & SELECT usedbo.tblTest.If the SPs are owned by the user (eg MyUser.TestInsert), it workscorrectly (MyUser.tblTest is used throughout) but I would have to havea pair of SPs for each user.* I have MS Access ADP front end linked to a SQL Server database. Forreports with complex datasets, it times out. Therefore it suit mypurposes to create a temporary table first and then to open the reportbased on that temporary table.
The following dbo.Tables of Northwind.mdf in my .SQLEXPRESS (SQL Server Management Studio Express) are missing: dbo.Categories dbo.CustomerCustomerDemo dbo.CustomerDemographics dbo.Customers dbo.Employees dbo.EmployeeTerritories dbo.Order Details dbo.Orders dbo.Products dbo.Regions dbo.Shippers dbo.Suppliers dbo.Territories.
But, I have these dbo.Tables in a different Database "xyzDatabase". How can I copy each of these dbo.Tables to the another blank dbo.Table of Northwind Database?
I right clicked on the dbo.Categories and I saw the following thing: dbo.Categories New Table... Modify Open Table Script Table as |> CREATYE To |> DROP To |> SELECT To |> INSERT To |> New Query Editor Window File.... Clipboard UPDATE To |> DELETE to |> From the above observation,I think it is possible to copy the dbo.Table from the one Database to the Northwind Database that needs to be repaired. Please help and advise me how to do this task or tell me where I can find the Microsoft document that gives the details of this X-copy thing.
Thanks in advance, Scott Chang
P. S. I am using VB 2005 Express to create a project to learn "Calling Stored Procedures with ADO.NET" (see Paul Kimmel's article in http://www.developer.com/db/article.php/3438221) that needs the dbo.Tables of Northwind Database and my Northwind Database has been screwed up for quite a while and needs a big repair.
--Table 1 "Employee" CREATE TABLE [MyCompany].[Employee]( [EmployeeGID] [int] IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL, [BranchFID] [int] NOT NULL, [FirstName] [varchar](50) NOT NULL, [MiddleName] [varchar](50) NOT NULL, [LastName] [varchar](50) NOT NULL, CONSTRAINT [PK_Employee] PRIMARY KEY CLUSTERED ( [EmployeeGID] ) GO ALTER TABLE [MyCompany].[Employee] WITH CHECK ADD CONSTRAINT [FK_Employee_BranchFID] FOREIGN KEY([BranchFID]) REFERENCES [myCompany].[Branch] ([BranchGID]) GO ALTER TABLE [MyCompany].[Employee] CHECK CONSTRAINT [FK_Employee_BranchFID]
-- Table 2 "Branch" CREATE TABLE [Mycompany].[Branch]( [BranchGID] [int] IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL, [BranchName] [varchar](50) NOT NULL, [City] [varchar](50) NOT NULL, [ManagerFID] [int] NOT NULL, CONSTRAINT [PK_Branch] PRIMARY KEY CLUSTERED ( [BranchGID] ) GO ALTER TABLE [MyCompany].[Branch] WITH CHECK ADD CONSTRAINT [FK_Branch_ManagerFID] FOREIGN KEY([ManagerFID]) REFERENCES [MyCompany].[Employee] ([EmployeeGID]) GO ALTER TABLE [MyCompany].[Branch] CHECK CONSTRAINT [FK_Branch_ManagerFID]
--Foreign IDs = FID --generated IDs = GID Then I try a simple single row DELETE
DELETE FROM MyCompany.Employee WHERE EmployeeGID= 39
Well this might look like a very basic error: I get this Error after trying to delete something from Table €œEmployee€?
The DELETE statement conflicted with the REFERENCE constraint "FK_Branch_ManagerFID". The conflict occurred in database "MyDatabase", table "myCompany.Branch", column 'ManagerFID'.
Yes what I€™ve been doing is to deactivate the foreign key constraint, in both tables when performing these kinds of operations, same thing if I try to delete a €œBranch€? entry, basically each entry in €œbranch€? and €œEmployee€? is child of each other which makes things more complicated.
My question is, is there a simple way to overcome this obstacle without having to deactivate the foreign key constraints every time or a good way to prevent this from happening in the first place? Is this when I have to use €œON DELETE CASCADE€? or something?
I would like to return the nearest date of Table B in my table like for
ID W001 in table B should return ID A002 CreatedDatetime: 2014-06-03 20:05:48.000 ID W002 in table B should return ID A004 CreatedDatetime: 2014-06-04 01:05:48.000
