The subscriber was able to get the snapshot ok, then synchronise fine
However after adding an article to the publication and recreating the snapshot I get this error now at the subscriber
Microsoft.SqlServer.Replication.ComErrorException (0x80004005): A failure occurred when accessing 'usp_misc_dailyTasks_3.sch' due to an operating system error [2='The system cannot find the file specified.'] during Web synchronization. Ensure that the -InternetLogin user when using basic authentication and the user running the merge when using Windows integrated authentication has been granted access to the snapshot share.
at Microsoft.SqlServer.Replication.MergeSynchronizationAgent.Run()
The key properties when synchronising are as follows:
I am having a server where replication is set up between 2 differnt databases. It is currently running. I want to add a couple of tables to the replication. I tried using sp_addArticle, but after executing it, in the properties of the publication it shows the new tables, but at the database level the tables are missing.
I tried with sp_addsubscription but I am getting strange error:
Server: Msg 14100, Level 16, State 1, Procedure sp_addsubscription, Line 240 Specify all articles when subscribing to a publication using concurrent snapshot processing.
What can I do to publish the tables into the target database?
I have setup Transactional replication in SQL 2005 between two servers and have about 200 tables being replicated. The problem is that every time, I add or drop a table to replication, and start the Snapshot agent, it re-initializes every article and re-loads every article. This process takes 1 hour to complete and CPU usage goes to 100% during that time.
This behaviour seems very different from SQL 2000 where I would start Snapshot agent and only the relevant tables were added/dropped.
Has that functionality changed from 2000 to 2005? Am I not doing something right? Thanks, Amir
First of all; My Oracle publication works fine when I don't explicit specify the shema_option parameter for the articles I'm adding to the publication. The reason why I then want to explicit specify the parameter is as following.
I'm developing a replication solution to get data from our production server (Oracle) to our Data Warehouse (SQL Server). The SQL Server (and the Data Warehouse code) uses the SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS collation. When I don't explicit specify the schema_option, the nvarchar columns of the replicated tables are created using the SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CS_AS collation and this results in some comparison errors, when for instance a select statement is trying to compare two nvarchar strings using different collations.
I've tried to specify the schema_option parameter as "@schema_option = 0x80" (Replicates primary key constraints.) to avoid the use of the SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CS_AS collation when creating the destination tables - I'm not sure it's enough? No matter what, I'm getting an error when I'm doing it (see below).
Message 2006-07-13 12:00:15.529 Applied script 'ITEMTRANSLATION_2.sch' 2006-07-13 12:00:15.544 Bulk copying data into table 'ITEMTRANSLATION' 2006-07-13 12:00:15.544 Agent message code 20037. The questions are now whether I actually have a schema_option alternative for Oracle Publishing? If so, what is the solution, and eventually how can I avoid the error stated above?
If I'm not able to avoid the article columns getting created with the "wrong" collation, is there then any other obviously solution to the problem?
Hello, I have run into a strange problem with RS 2000. I have a base class that will call a reporting server web service, render a report to pdf, then write the report output to the stream. This has worked fine for me for reports.
However, when I render a graph to pdf, I get the following exception:
I only get this exception in our staging environment, not locally.
Here is a code snippet from the ReportServerProxy class, but it is pretty textbook according to the MSDN samples..
public class ReportServerProxy : ReportingService { protected override WebRequest GetWebRequest(Uri uri) { HttpWebRequest request; request = (HttpWebRequest)HttpWebRequest.Create(uri); // Create a cookie jar to hold the request cookie CookieContainer cookieJar = new CookieContainer(); request.CookieContainer = cookieJar; Cookie authCookie = AuthCookie; // if the client already has an auth cookie // place it in the request's cookie container if (authCookie != null){ request.CookieContainer.Add(authCookie); } ...
}
As I said, I can run reports one after another without issue, graphs are causing me problems.
Our company wanted to try out SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition (64 Bit). So, we were on free trial of the Enterprise Edition for past 5 months. After which we decided to go for SQL SERVER 2005 Standard Edition (64 Bit). And, Last week, we installed the SQL Server Standard Edition (64 Bit) on our server. After installation, everything was restored as before.
The version we are on right now is:
Microsoft SQL Server 2005 - 9.00.3054.00 (X64) Mar 23 2007 18:41:50 Copyright (c) 1988-2005 Microsoft Corporation Standard Edition (64-bit) on Windows NT 5.2 (Build 3790: Service Pack 2)
Strangely, a job which ran fine till then is failing with the following error: And, to be more specific, when this job is run manually in the form of a stored procedure using the query optimizer it runs fine. But, when its executed as a scheduled job on SQL Agent, it fails. The History logs record the following error.
Error :
The OLE DB provider "SQLNCLI" for linked server "LV-SQL2" reported an error. Authentication failed. [SQLSTATE 42000] (Error 7399) Cannot initialize the data source object of OLE DB provider "SQLNCLI" for linked server "LV-SQL2". [SQLSTATE 42000] (Error 7303) OLE DB provider "SQLNCLI" for linked server "LV-SQL2" returned message "Invalid authorization specification". [SQLSTATE 01000] (Error 7412).
I tried everything possible, even recreated the job, but, no avail.
I also considered the possibility if SQL Agent login account did not have enough permissions. So, I changed the SQL Agent login to windows authentication, but the job still fails. So, its the problem has nothing to do with login accounts either.
For the record, I have cross checked all these too.
1. Enabled the remote connections in Surface Area Config
2. Added local server login to remote server login mappings.
3. Checked 'Rpc' and 'Rpc Out' under server options. Also, the Connection Timeout and Query Timeout have been set to zero (0).
Any suggestions pointing towards problem solution appreciated.
I have managed to get the Forms Authentication sample to work bu there is a hitch. I am running Report Server and Report Manager on the same(test) PC. I can logon to the Report Server without a problem but when I try logon from the UILogon.aspx page for Report Manager I receive the following error:
An error occurred while attempting to get the ReportServer Url. The RPC server is unavailable. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800706BA) An error occurred while attempting to get the ReportServer Url. The RPC server is unavailable. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800706BA)An error occured while attempting to get the ReportServer Url. The RPC server is unavailable.(Exception from HRESULT: 0x800706BA).
I can register users which suggests that the page can connect to the database.

Ok, so here's the catch. It works one 1 machine, a co-workers machine. I can login as any user and it'll work fine. But when I try it on any other machine, including my laptop, my desktop, my server, etc. I get that error. I've tried adjusting the IE Security settings, firewall settings, even tried different browsers. Here's some of the stuff installed on my machines:
Laptop -Windows XP Pro -ASP.NET Validation Tool -Visual Basic Express w/ SQL Server Express -.NET 1.1/2.0 Framework
Desktop -Windows XP Home -Visual Studio 2005 Professional -.NET 1.1/2.0 Framework
Server -Windows Server 2003 Enterprise -SQL Server 2005 -.NET 1.1/2.0 Framework
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Even our lead developer has no clue, it won't work on his machine either!
I got Form Authentication to work, but I am getting this error sometimes. To reproduce this error consistantly is to run iisreset.exe to have a fresh start. Go to my report server login and open any report.
The page will display: The remote server returned an error: (500) Internal Server Error.
If i click "F5" to refresh the page the report will show up or if you go to another report it will work also. It is just the first time after iisreset.exe. It is very strange.

Hi, I have just installed Windows Vista and SQL Server 2005. When I try to connect to my local server with Windows Authentication, I get the follwoing message:
Login failed for user <user> (Microsoft SQL Server, error: 18456)
Hi there,I have installed MS SQL Server 2005 on my machine with windows authentication. But now I want to switch the authentication mode to SQL Authentication. I am unable to switch, I can’t find the proper way to do so here in 2005.Could any one help me in doing this?Thank you,-Ahsan
When I am trying to connect my database using SQL Server Authentication option, then its showing error: "An attempt to login suing sql authentication failed. Server is configured only for Windows authentication only."
I have an asp drive web page that writes a row to a table on sqlserver 2000. The web site is set to use windows authenication and thesql server is set to use windows authentication. This process works fine on windows xp sp 1 machines but on win2k sp4machines logged in as the same user i get the errorAn error occurred making the change -2147217843 Error connection toSQL Server: [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Loginfailed for user '(null)'. Reason: Not associated with a trusted SQLServer connection.can anyone explain why win2k client would have this issue and notwinxp clients?Glenn
I have a Report Server when i try to deploy my report on the same server and if i use the Fully Qualified Domain Name in my report path i get the below Error
I got the following error using either NT or SQL Login ('sa') that are sysadmin in my SQL 2005 instance:
Your Account information could not be verified for one or more instances. Ensure that you can connect to all the selected instances using the account information provided. To process further deselect the instances to which connectivity cannot be established.
However, I would login to SQL 2005 named instance, either NT or SQL login 'sa' without any problems to do anything I want because both are sysadmin.
<PS> Note that my default SQL instance in my local server is SQL 2000 and SQL 2005 named instance.
Maybe someone can help me. I am running the reporting service add in for Sharepoint and we have only Basic Authentication running on our site (it is on SSL). When i try and open a report in sharepoint it errors out on me. When i go back into IIS and set Windows and Basic authentication it works, but it requires me to enter our domain and username. We need to only use Basic so it will not need the domain. Anyone have any suggestions on what i can do to make this work?
I'm working on an ASP.NET project, and we're attempting to switch from SQL Server authentication to Windows authentication to connect to the database. It works fine locally when I debug in Visual Studio, but when it hits the web server, I get the error: "Login failed for user '(null)'. Reason: Not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection." IIS has anonymous access disabled, and Integrated Windows Authentication is checked. The web.config file has: <authentication mode="Windows"/><identity impersonate="true"/> The database I'm attempting to access is on a different machine than IIS, and the connection string doesn't contain a username or password, and has "Trusted_Connection=Yes", and "Integrated Security=SSPI". From what I've been able to find online, I'm guessing the problem is due to IIS and SQL Server residing on different machines, but I'm not sure how to fix it. Any ideas?
I'm trying to implement a SSAS Project in a Virtual Machine using a private network. When I try to deploy the solution the program gives me the following error:
I already have a Windows Authentication but still gives me that error.
(Using win2k, sqlserver2k, framework 1.1) I have an fairly data-heavy application that uses Windows authentication (Trusted connection/aspnet account) to connect to Sql Server. The site uses IIS basic authentication.
On the dev server everything works fine but when I move to the live server things get strange and it starts to crawl along. (Pages load OK but then it just crawls as it loads the datagrids etc. Sometimes it brings back incomplete/incorrect data )
BUT When I use Sql Authentication to connect to Sql Server and there is no problem at all!
Ok, there is something obviously wrong with the live server (which is identical setup to dev)but I dont know where to start.
I've got two applications which both have a database on my MS SQL 2000 server. The problem is, one application must use Windows Integrated Authentication (which it is currently using and cannot be changed) whilst the other application which I'm trying to configure must use a SQL password.
Since the server has already been configured to use Windows Integrated Authentication for the existing database and application, how do I configure the other database to use the SQL password?
My work is using a shared application which accesses a MSSQL 2000 database. To access the application, the folder on the Windows 2003 Server is shared and users can access the folder through a shared drive.
For the application to access the database, it uses an ODBC connection to the MSSQL server which originally used the SA password.
We have recently switched to using Windows Integrated Authentication because we believe it offers a higher level of security. However the only way in which we have been able to enable this is to add the windows users to the SQL server.
The problem with this is that the application sets permissions for individual users on what records they can see within the database. We have found that by adding the windows users to the SQL Server, they can bypass the permissions the set by the application by simply using any application that can use an ODBC connection, such as Enterprise Manager, and see all the database.
One way around this would be to set up domains of users with access privileges to the tables which reflect the permissions set by the application, and configuring a view of the data so they may only see the records that they have permissions to. However to do this would require a high administrative cost to ensure that changes made in the application are reflected in the privileges of the SQL server.
Instead, is there a way the SQL server can authenticate that the ODBC connection is coming from the correct application using Windows Integrated Authentication?
This would allow the applcation to determine security, and stop users from connecting to the SQL server using other applications.
Alternatively, can the SQL server, using Windows Integrated Authentication, also ask the application to supply a username and password?
Any help with this matter would be greatly appreciated.
