Create Default Tables, Procedures, Etc. On Newly Connected Remote SQL Server

I have a website I'm ready to test on the server it will call home. I just got connected to the remote SQL server that it will be using. As I've been creating the site, I've been using the default SQL Express set-up in Visual Studio. Is there a way to have Visual Studio create all those default tables, procedures, etc. OR is there a way to copy all of that stuff from the SQL Express running on my machine to the remote SQL Server 2005?

I didn't have problem to upload my site to my hoster.
Now I want to upload all my tables and my stored procedure create locally with VWD express
How can i do it ?
NB: I know i can't design DB (create/modify tables and stored proc) with express edition

Hi all,
I am having seriuos problems getting VoIP traffic into and out of my network via the ISA server which we just newly installed.
My network topology is such that the phones i am using for the VoIP service, sitting inside my network and behind the ISA server, have to register to some remote proxy server outside my network and as soon as it registers i can begin using the service. The VoIP service is on the platform of SIP and uses udp ports 5060 and 8080.
I have permitted the necessary ports on the ISA server for the service being UDP port 5060 and 8080 but still cannot get my VoIp traffic through the server.
Please i need some help here as regards something i am supposed to do or something i am not doing right on the ISA server to permit my traffic.
I am a newbie to this Microsoft ISA server and i hope you all understand

Hi there,I am trying to create a Sql Server 2005 Express database by running Sql Scripts. I have a script that has CREATE statements for tables and procedures. What I'd like it to do is create a new database with a name and a file location I specify.I searched high and low, tried lots of options with the SqlCmd tool but I keep getting authentication or other errors.Is this even possible? If so, does someone know of a good reference? I know I can create a new database and tables from within VWD but I need to create this database based on a .sql file....Thanks in advance....Imar

I have created a site using Microsoft Expression Web. The site includes a create user page on which I placed the create user control (wizard), and a login page (which houses a login control) . When the site sits on my local host all works well and I render the pages on my browser locally: the first time a user is created the aspnetdb.mdf file is automatically created into my app_data folder, the new user information is saved and can be accessed on the login page etc. However, when I upload to my hosting server. (godaddy) I can navigate to each of these pages seamlessly but when I try to use the controls on either page I get similar errors:

I am not a programmer, and am just beginning to learn asp.net. However, I need to solve this problem. GoDaddy cannot help me, they say, because this is inside of EW and that is a MS problem. They have on the several ocassions I have contacted them, suggested compatibility issues (since they use SQL server 2003 and 2008 not 2005, or suggest that I need to script something to ensure that the .mdf file is recognized by their server, or that it was a database problem and that I may need a database programmer. They did tell me that it is important to note that the databases are hosted outside their server. I have not found anything in the EW side of this equation since most forums and support etc, deal more with the design part, than the online publishing part. I have tried to find a programmer locally that could help me, and have yet to find one. I am so close to being able to publish a site that meets our small school's needs, but cannot jump this one hurdle. Can anyone tell me what I can do?

My site works fine in VWD2008 express, but I get this error when I try to use it on my live website.

According to this article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/914277 I am supposed to:

Click Start, point to Programs, point to Microsoft SQL Server 2005, point to Configuration Tools, and then click SQL Server Surface Area Configuration.
Ok, there is no such program in this folder. The only thing in there is "SQL Server Error and Usage Reporting"...
The other thing I am greatly concerned with is this: All is want is for my webpages to be able to access my database for user authentication. I DO NOT want to grant the internet rights to remote connect to my database.

Hi,
I uploaded a database to a remote server (ISP) who has SQL2005 as do I. They got the database okay, but not all the stored procedures went along for the ride
Can anyone tell me how to just simply transfer the stored procedures only to the remote server?
Failing that, can you tell me how to export the entire database and be sure that it all goes, not just the tables. I assume you would have to do this via a script because the export wizard only lets you copy the files and I have dome this but the stored procedures do go along.
Any help?

I am using SQL Server Management Studio and Visual Studio 2005 and I am a newbie.
Once connected to a remote server and database I am able to use SQL Server Management Studio to modify a table and save it. When I modify a stored procedure or create a new one and attempt to save it I get my local dialog box to save to my system with a new name €œSQLQuery6.sql.€? How do I cause the procedure to be saved to the remote database? If anyone can help this or where I can find it I will appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

I get the following error and have been trying to figure out why I keep getting it. Initially, I had placed my project under wwwroot folder and ran it under IIS and it gave this error. Then I moved it to my local C drive and same thing. I am sharing this project with two other co-workers and all our config files and code files are same...they don't get this error but I do. I checked that SQL Server Client Network Utility has TCP/IP and the 'Named Pipes' enabled. I thought maybe I have setting in the Visual Studio 2005 that I'm not aware of that's causing this problem...it can't be the server since my co-workers aren't having this error and can't be anything in the code since all of us are sharing this project through vss. I dont' think using different version of .net framework can create this error. I changed the version from 2.0 to use 1.1x and it gave same error... Any help would be greatly appreciated. Just a quicky about temporarary tables. If using QA, when you create atemporary table, it gets dropped if you close the query. Otherwise youneed to state 'DROP TABLE myTable' so that you can re-run the querywithout the table being there.Sometimes, you can have quite lengthy SQL statements (in a series)with various drop table sections throughout the query. Ideally youwould put these all at the end, but sometimes you will need to dropsome part way through (for ease of reading and max temp tables etc...)However, what I was wondering is :Is there any way to quickly drop the temporary tables for the currentconnection without specifying all of the tables individually ? Whentesting/checking, you have to work your way through and run each droptable section individually. This can be time consuming, so beingnaturally lazy, is there a quick way of doing this ? When workingthrough the SQL, it's possible to do this quite a lot.ExampleSQL Statement with several parts, each uses a series of temporarytables to create a result set. At the end of a section, these worktables are no longer needed, so drop table commands are used. Has anyone seen this error? It comes up when my app executes a select statement via linked server (from MSSQL 2000 to 2005) the second time it runs. It's basically a timed poll of tables in the remote database. It works once but the second time it executes I get the error from the remote db, it's just a select but I guess the cursor is still open so it can't run again. After the exception the select will run again, once and it just repeats. I have researched it a little and it looks like it mostly has to do with the isolation level of the transaction. Unfortunately based on the componet being used to access the database I don't beleive I have the ability to use transact SQL to call the isolation level (s) listed.
Here's the weird part though, at another site the same scenario is running fine. Same primary and remote db versions of MSSQL as well as the application and it runs fine. I guess my question is what type of setup parameters that may be defined in MSSQL 2005 for the remote database might make it behave in this manner in one instance and not the other? TIA in advance for any thoughts/assistance.

How can I create a query to input Allisons username into table 1 and groupmembership into table 2. Also updating the relationship within junction-table3 must be done automaticaly. I want to avoid duplicate records.
The final situation I want is given in red text.

I am setting up SQL audit on sql servers in my environment based on requirement. I want to create database specifications ASAP database created. I tried DDL trigger but Audit doesn't support triggers. So I created audit specifications on model database. the only problem with this is every specification created on new database with same name.database specification name includes newly created database name or other methods to create database specifications on newly created databases.

and i need to create new DBs programmatically
I use this statement on my local machine

but it will not work , because i dont know the physical path
i cant use Server.MapPath()

I'm setting up a simple SSRS implementation for a non-profit organization, using two servers hosted at a data center. The first server has SQL Server Standard Edition and Reporting Services installed. I've designed and deployed a number of useful reports on this server.
I was hoping to isolate this first server by installing IIS and SSRS on the second server, have users browse from the Internet to that second server (over SSL, of course), and have all reports served up from databases (and, presumably, the report server database) on the first server.
During the installation of SSRS on the second server, however, I'm being prompted to specify the service account. According to the help text:
"Reporting Services. Service accounts are used to configure a report server database connection. Choose a domain user account if you want to connect to a report server database on a remote SQL Server instance. If you are using a local report server database, you can use a domain user account or Local System to run the service."
I believe I want to configure SSRS to connect to a report server database on a remote SQL Server instance; therefore, it appears that I need to enter a domain user account. The only problem is, neither server belongs to a domain; they are members of a simple two-server workgroup.
Does SSRS, configured to connect to a report server database on a remote SQL Server instance, require a domain? Does what I'm hoping to accomplish require a domain? Creating a two-server domain seems like overkill for this implementation, doesn't it?

I'm using SQL Server 2008R2. I am developing a database which requires access to data from other servers. So far I have been creating views using OPENQUERY (where there's a performance benefit) to select specifically the columns I want. Generally, for my purposes, I find these OPENQUERY based views to perform better (some times significantly so) to simple SELECT <COLUMNS> FROM <SERVER>.<DATABASE>.<SCHEMA>.<TABLE> WHERE <Where clause Statements> format views. My understanding is that this is because an OPENQUERY "pushes" the query processing to the remote server and simply returns the final result set to the local server i.e. there's no cross-server join/synchronization going on.
My question is, if I were to create a Synonym for a table object on the remote server, where does the processing happen if I query from this Synonym or create a join with this synonym to a table in my local database?Essentially, I am trying to understand if there are any "hidden gotcha's" primarily from a performance perspective, to using synonyms.

I'm trying to write a procedure that having created a new database,will then create within that new database all the tables andprocedures that go with it.In doing this I'm hitting the problem that you can't issue a USEcommand within a procedure.So my question is either- how do I get around this?- if I can't, how can I create procedures etc in a *different*(i.e. the newly created) databaseor- is there a better way to do all this (*)I have SQL files that do this currently, but I need to edit in thename of the database each time before execution, so I thought aprocedure would be better. I'm trying to write a function that will retrieve the last backup date/time of a particular database on a remote server (i.e. by querying msdb.dbo.backupset). Unfortunately, you can't use sp_executesql in a function, so I can't figure out a way to pass the server name to the query and still be able to return the datetime value back to the calling TSQL code (so that rules out using EXEC().

I have a web hosting account with Network Solutions. I also have my databases hosted on their sql server 2005. (along with a few thousand other database which don't belong to me) . Network Solutions does not allow me to speak to their Technical Support. I must submit a request and they email me their response. Bottom line they are not going to help me with my problem.
I am using SQL Server Management Studio Express to connect remotely to the server.
I have 2 databases. Currently all data is stored in database1
I need to move the tables with the data for my website forum from database1to database2 on the same SQL Server
I have already generated a script which creates the schema for the tables on
database2. The problem is moving the data. The web Host does not allow DTS
Here are the things they won't allow:
You can use all features of SQL 2000 (it is 2005) except for the following:
- DTS Packages
- Database Replication
- Mail Services
- XML Support
- Distributed Transactions
- Database Maintenance Plans
- Web Assistant
- Multiple Instances
I can't for the life of me figure out how to transfer the data.
I have tried copying and pasting the data and run into problems with Identity keys and constraints.
I tried a sql generator script to create insert scripts for each line of each table but it won't work. I'm not sure why.
Bottom-line I can't import and export directly. And I desperately need to.

Hi,
I was just wondering if something could be explained to me.
I have the following:
1. A table which has fields with data types and lengths / sizes
2. A stored procedure for said table which also declares variables with datatype and lengths/ sizes
3. A function in written in VB .net that uses said stored procudure. The code used to add the parameters to the sql command also requires that i give a data type and size.
How come i need to specify data type and length in three different places? Am i doin it wrong?
Any information is greatly appreciated.

There are two ways to create a temporary tables in stored procedures
1: Using Create Table <Table Name> & then Drop table
ex. Create Table emp (empno int, empname varchar(20))
at last : drop table emp
2. Using Create table #tempemp
( empno int, empname varchar(20))
at last : delete #tempemp
---which one is preferrable & why.
what are the advantages & disadvantages of the above two types.

This question is about SQL Server 2005:
I have been trying to figure out how to copy tables and stored procedures between 2 databases (on the same server) using SQL Server Management Studio. I have tried right clicking on the table name, "script table as", "drop to", "clipboard", then I click on the 2nd database, and then click on the "tables" . I change the name of the database and click "execute". This creates the table but does not copy the data. I have also tried "create to" "clipboard" and "insert to" "clipboard" and cannot seem to be able to figure out how to get the results that I want. I am new at this but need to get the tables with the data copied along with the stored procedures, even if I have to do them one at a time. When I was using SQL Server 2000, I was able to use DTS to copy objects to other databases easily. Can someone please tell me a way to accomplish what I need to do? I have gotten information here before that was very useful and was hoping that someone can help me again.Thank you so much. Carol Quinn
