Hi all, I have a problem and can't find a solution. About a week ago, my maintenance program started failing do to a problem with one database it seems. I look at my log and I see this error: CrystalDB [SQLSTATE 01000] Msg 1934, Sev 16: DBCC failed because the following SET options have incorrect settings: 'ANSI_NULLS., QUOTED_IDENTIFIER, ARITHABORT'. [SQLSTATE 42000]
Hey all -We are running SQL 2000 with ALL available service packs, etc.applied. We just built a brand new database server, which has dual2Ghz XEONs, 2GB memory, and the following disk configuration:RAID 1 array (2 disks) Operating System Windows Server 2003RAID 1 array (2 disks) Database LogsRAID 10 array (4 disks) Database DataDisks are SATA, with a 3Ware hardware RAID controller. The machineSCREAMS.We run 5 databases on this machine. 2 of these are fairly large (byour standards, anyway). The second largest database (and the busiestand most important) is consistently generating consistency errors thatbring many important queries down. These are almost ALWAYS in theform of index corruption on one single table. The corruption does notnormally occur on other tables, although it DOES happen once in awhile - rarely - on one of the other tables), nor does it EVER occuron any other databases on the server. The corruption seems to happen right in the neighborhood of midnightALMOST every day, give or take a few minutes, but does not seemdirectly associated with any of our MANY scheduled database cleanuptasks (believe me, we've tried desperately to find an associationusing SQL profiler). At midnight, our database traffic is fairly low,so it does not seem associated with a high traffic level. We are using the FULL recovery model, with log backups every 15minutes, and full backups daily at 12:15am. However, the corruptionhappens consistently BEFORE 12:15, like between 11:50pm and 12:10am.The most frustrating thing is, the database can go WEEKS without anycorruption at all, and then it'll go 4 or 5 days in a row with thisstrange corruption stuff.************************************************** ***********************Typical query errors when the corruption exists include:************************************************** ***********************SQL Server Assertion: File:<p:sqltdbmsstorengdrsinclude ecord.inl>, line=1447Failed Assertion = 'm_SizeRec > 0 && m_SizeRec <= MAXDATAROW'.SQL Server Assertion: File: <recbase.cpp>, line=1378Failed Assertion = 'm_offBeginVar < m_SizeRec'.Server: Msg 3624, Level 20, State 1, Line 7Location: recbase.cpp:1374Expression: m_nVars > 0Connection Broken************************************************** ***********************Most of the responses to this type of issue (failed assertions) on thenewgroups appear to point to hardware failures. However, this isbrand new hardware, AND, it seems to us that if this was a hardwareissue, other databases, tables, and indexes would be affectedrandomly. Isn't that a valid assumption (that if it was hardware, particularly the RAID controller, the corruption would not be in sucha predictable place)? What if we moved the physical database files toanother location on the disk? Would/could that help?If anyone could offer some suggestions as to what may be causing thiscorruption, we would be eternally grateful. It is getting to be areal pain in the A*** to run DBCC CHECKDB with REPAIR_ALLOW_DATA_LOSSevery day or two (it always seems to solve the problem without dataloss, but still...).Again, thanks in advance for your response.Sincerely,Morgan LeppinkJoin Bytes!
Recently one of our DB went to suspect mode, we have resolved it(repair_allow_dataloss) and DB came online but when we fire CheckDB on that it is throwing following error
Msg 7985, Level 16, State 2, Line 2 System table pre-checks: Object ID 3. Could not read and latch page (1:355) with latch type SH. Check statement terminated due to unrepairable error. DBCC results for 'xxxxxxx'. Msg 5233, Level 16, State 98, Line 2 Table error: alloc unit ID 196608, page (1:355). The test (IS_OFF (BUF_IOERR, pBUF->bstat)) failed. The values are 12716041 and -4. CHECKDB found 0 allocation errors and 1 consistency errors not associated with any single object. CHECKDB found 0 allocation errors and 1 consistency errors in database 'xxxxxxx'.
And error log is also continuously popping the below message
Error:

When using an activepassive sqlserver 2005 cluster (standard edition) on MS Server 2003 R2 Enterprise x64 with SP2 and I run the DBCC CHECKDB commands on any of the system databases I receive this error:
Check Database Integrity (selio) Check Database integrity on Target server connection Databases: All system databases Include indexes Task start: 2007-06-06T16:50:38. Task end: 2007-06-06T16:50:38. Possible failure reasons: Problems with the query, "ResultSet" property not set correctly, parameters not set correctly, or connection not established correctly.
Command:USE [master] GO DBCC CHECKDB WITH NO_INFOMSGS GO USE [model] GO DBCC CHECKDB WITH NO_INFOMSGS GO USE [msdb] GO DBCC CHECKDB WITH NO_INFOMSGS
I don't receive this error when I run CHECKDB on the system databases on our test environment x64 box (same OS and hardware).
I am playing with DBCC command to check the contsrainst on a perticular table (DBCC CHECKCONSTRAINTS ('myTable') WITH ALL_CONSTRAINTS), it always gives the following result:
DBCC execution completed. If DBCC printed error messages, contact your system administrator.
I followed the advice of Paul Randal, but Im stumped as I am not able to determin what the corruption issues are. This is SQL 2000 and the database is a Solomon database that was recently upgraded to 6.5. the error I get when running the DBCC checkdb is as follows:
Server: Msg 8966, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 Could not read and latch page (1:18645) with latch type SH. sysindexes failed. DBCC execution completed. If DBCC printed error messages, contact your system administrator.
DBCC execution completed. If DBCC printed error messages, contact your system administrator. DBCC execution completed. If DBCC printed error messages, contact your system administrator.
Now, the bad news. I am a bit of a novice and have picked this up from someone who left my company. It appears the latch error has been around for some time and only reared up when I instituted a new back up system that runs a dbcc check befor backing up. I don't think I have any clean backups.
I've built SSIS package and made a job to execute it automatically but it always returns an error. The job returns OK but when we looked at the Log File viewer, it conatins this error log :
Key not valid for use in specified state
Failed to decrypt protected XML node "DTS Password" with error
What's wrong with the package ? Thanks in advance.
I wrote an application using Visual Studio 2005 beta 2 which uses a SQL Express .mdf file, included in the project, for the database. After installing Visual Studio 2005 RC and the SQL Express that comes with it (I followed all of the uninstall instructions first) I can no longer add a SQL Express database to any of my projects, nor can I open the SQL Express database in my original project. When I try either of these tasks, I get the "Failed to generate user instance of SQL Server due to a failure in starting the process for the user instance. The connection will be closed." I read the thread which dealt with this error, and changed the connection string for the database file that had worked before to User Instance = false. The moment I click Test Connection or OK, I get the error: "An attempt to attach an auto-named database for file C:<path to project>EngSQL.mdf failed. A database with the same name exists, or specified file cannot be opened, or it is located on UNC share." (<path to project> is actually a full path, I didn't want to type the whole thing out. :) ). A search for this error turns up a solution of setting User Instance = false, which puts me in a catch 22 position.
I have log shipping set up between 2 SQL 2000 SP1 Servers on Win 2000. The db is small 10 meg, and when the restore job on the backup server fails I am getting "sqlmaint.exe failed. [SQLSTATE 42000] (Error 22029). The step failed." as the message, the maint paln on the primary server show no error. Anyone seen this before? The restore has worked 3 out of 5 times
Many a times see the below error in SQL Error log.
Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITYANONYMOUS LOGON'. Reason: Token-based server access validation failed with an infrastructure error. Check for previous errors. [CLIENT: ]
Is this something to do here?
Note: If I run the below statement I know that the SQL Error log entry will go off, but wanted to know the real significance of this error?
CREATE LOGIN [NT AUTHORITYANONYMOUS LOGON] FROM WINDOWS
I am administering several SQL Servers running SQL Server 2005 SP2 Build 3042. I have a common maintenance plan that runs on each of the servers. The maintenance plan runs fine on all the servers except for one. On the one server the Database Integrity check fails with the following error:
Check Database integrity on Local server connection Databases: <list of databases> Include indexes Task start: 2008-02-21T00:05:42. Task end: 2008-02-21T00:05:46. Failed0) Alter failed for Server €˜XYZ€™
I created a test maintenance plan to just do the integrity check and selected one database only and this also failed with the same error message. I ran this test maintenance plan and configured it for each of the databases in question and it failed each time. If I run the DBCC manually against the databases they all report fine.
I read some of the post that talked about the €œAllow Updates€? being set incorrectly but that does not apply to my problem since my configured and run values are set to 0.
I have a re-indexing stored procedure, yester day night it got failed "Executed as user: CONNECTSRVmyadmin. sqlmaint.exe failed. [SQLSTATE 42000] (Error 22029). The step failed." what may be the reason..

I using Locale (People's Republic of China) and code page of 936 (Simplied Chinese GBK) with header row delimiter {CR}{LF}.
I am using flat file import method.
Whenever the server process the Column 42 with value "11,Nanjing Rd.W, China" which contain 'comma' or '.' it will hit error importing with above message. When i manually change the column value to non comma or '.' (11 Nanjing Rd W China) in the flat file it is ok.
I am using SQL server 2005.
Please advise what need to be done to avoid this error ?
Thanks in advance and any idea or suggestion is very much appreciated as i have try to solve this issue for over a week but still not able to find any answer on it.
I am running the Sept CTP. I have created a SSIS package that pulls data from a text file and inserts into a database. When I run the package on the DB server it runs fine. I have moved the package the the web server (we are attempting to kick off the package from a web site) and we get connections errors. We are running the package using dtexec from the command line.

when i right click and execute the package from the Management Studio, it runs fine, everytime. When i schedule a job to execute it, it fails, everytime.
"The package execution failed. The step failed."
i have made sure that the package and job ran using credentials with more than enough access to everything. Still, with no luck. PLEASE! I am at my wits ends here, and the boss is getting antsey...
Im trying to installed SQL SP1 and I get 'cancelled' status on the Database Services product.
If I open the SQL9_Hotfix_KB913090.log I see a bunch of 'Failed to read" errors. Im not very good at debugging SQL Logs, could you please assists me or tell me where to look?

We have a SQL 2000 Active/Passive cluster running on Windows 2000. On one node, everything logs in fine (second node is powered off). I can use local authentication fine in OSQL (-E) and even see my connection in SQLEM current activity as [DomainUser] for the NT account which I am logged in as. Then I bring the second node online and initiate a failover. SQL Server starts but Cluster Admin cannot connect and starts throwing this Anonymous Logon error. I open a command prompt and try the same OSQL (-E) local login and sure enough it is also giving the Anonymous Logon connection user. I do not understand why the failover to a second node is causing the Trusted Connection Local authentication to switch to Anonymous instead of the [DomainUser] which I am using. Any help is appreciated. John.

Can I allow a non SA account to issue DBCC or TRUNCATE TABLE on a DBO table ?
I've tried setting this up in a SP where I've granted execute only to the user but the user receives "Only the DBO of the database may run the DBCC UPDATEUSAGE command".
Do I have to set the user up as an alias to DBO ? I'd rather not.
In past days we have a problem with a database. When we tried to fix the problem we found that SQL 6.5 has a wizard for maintain the DB, but these one doesnt have an option to fix an individual table. Seeing the way of work of this utility we look that it uses a bcp file.
What is the difference in : 1) apply a bcp(out) to an indivual table, drop the table, create table, bcp(in), create indexes. We believe this method fixes the fragmentation problem or 2) dbcc checktable(to the table). This method doesnt fix the fragmentation problem
