How To Avoid RS Login Window At Time Of Deploying Report?
Nov 27, 2007
Hi,
i created report and i have to deploy report , at time of deploying it asks report services login credentials.my sql server is windows authentication .it doesn't accept any credentials.how to avoid RS login window at time of deploying report.
In MSDN, it says that it is recommended to use windows authentication to connect to SQL Server rather than use mixed authentication.
I create user deltasqluser on windows OS, and I specify in my webform ASP.NET script below :
protected System.Web.UI.WebControls.Label Label1; private string _connString = @"data source=deltasql2000;initial catalog=northwind;integrated security=false;user id=deltasqluser"; /* comment : I login to my windows as deltakoronx, and I want to every user (including me), connected to sql server through IIS, will be identified as deltasqluser not as user's login (impersonate) */ private void Page_Load(object sender, System.EventArgs e) { SqlConnection conn = new SqlConnection(_connString); SqlCommand cmd = new SqlCommand(); cmd.Connection = conn; cmd.CommandType = CommandType.Text; cmd.CommandText = "select suser_sname()";
at web.config, I add : <identity impersonate="false" userName="deltasqluser" password="" />
at IIS webApplication1's properties, tab "Directory Security", at "Authentication and access control" section, I checked "enable anonymous access" with user : DELTAIUSR_DELTA and checked "Integrated Windows Authentication",
at query analyzer, I login as "sa" and execute script below : exec sp_grantdbaccess 'deltasqluser','northwind'
when I run the ASP.NET script, error at conn.Open(); with error message : Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITYNETWORK SERVICE'.
What should I do so that IIS login to SQL Server as user deltasqluser not as "NT AUTHORITYNETWORK SERVICE" ?
I've seen some similar posts to this one, however none with an answer and I'm wondering if anyone has actually figured out what causes this issue. I'm running SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services.
I'm attempting to implement a folder structure for the report server, therefore am creating individual solutions in Visual Studio for each folder. At the top level i.e http://servername/reportserver/ I am able to deploy reports no problem.
However creating a folder at the next level in the tree and then deploying to that level such as http://servername/reportserver/ManagementReports causes a Reporting Services Login prompt to appear. No matter what user credentials I enter they are not accepted. I have full administrator rights the server, the site and the folders in question.
Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone have any suggestions?
We are using Microsoft Reporting Service 2005 to develop reports and we are accessing these reports through a J2EE application. The front end is implemented using Tapestry and we using JBoss as our applicaiton server. We are using Shared Data Sources for the reports and we set its data source type to SQL Server Analysis Services. In the credential tab, by default "Use Windows authentication" is selected. All other options are disabled.
When I access my reportserver through my web application, I am always prompted for a windows login and password. How can I avoid being shown the windows login prompt, since our web application will be used by several users and we do not want the users to type in a username/password everytime they want to access our reports.
I have an desktop app that uses a system DSN to access SQL Server 7. I backed up a database from another machine and restored it on my machine. Now when my app starts, it prompts for login/pw for SQL Server. I have checked my ODBC connection, and the login and pw are correct. I have also used Enterprise Mgr to check it in SQL Server. Does anyone have any thoughts on why it is now popping up? Drop me a line at bcarlson@documentsolutions.com, and I can answer any questions. I was wondering if any info about the prev machine exists for the database (on the restore)?
I have installed SQL Server Reporting Service on window xp. everything working fine except one thing.
I have installed sql server with my a/c. my a/c have admin rights. when i giving http://dineshpatel/reports it is displaying page but Report Builder and other option are not displaying. I hope i don't have admin rights.
I have checked with local administrator login also but same problem.
what additional setting are require for admin rights?
I installed SQL reporting services 2005 and successfully configured reporting services. After designing the report using Bussiness Intelligence Studio, i tried to deploy my reporting services application to the localhost , I got the below mentioned error :
TITLE: Microsoft Report Designer ------------------------------
A connection could not be made to the report server http://localhost/ReportServer.
The attempt to connect to the report server failed. Check your connection information and that the report server is a compatible version. (Microsoft.ReportingServices.Designer)

No problem creating reports or building solutions. Problems develop when deploying report to Report Server.
Here is the Output:
------ Build started: Project: From CD, Configuration: Debug ------

Details: Could not find schema information for the element 'http://schemas.microsoft.com/sqlserver/reporting/2003/10/reportdefinition:Report'. Deploy complete -- 1 errors, 0 warnings
These are my first attempts using report services. In a previous deployment attempts it created the folder (named 2nd), but in another attempt (saving it to the existing folder) I got the same result as you see above (I have also tried with a new folder but no luck). This above output is from my last attempt.
The Build error Task List states:
The Report Definition is not valid. Details: Could not find schema information for the element 'http://schemas.microsoft.com/sqlserver/reporting/2003/10/reportdefinition:report'.
The shema URL as above returns HTTP 404. If I remove :report, I receive the page for Report Definition Language Schema May 2004
Looking at the .rdl code the schema URL is as above without :report.
As you can imagine with a limited skill set in this area I am quite confused. I have been doing alot of research but found nothing to help (or that I understand will help) so far.
If anyone can help me get through this I would appreciate it.
I have developed a custom report item that works fine in design and preview mode while in Visual Studio. I cannot get it to show up on my deployed reports. Here's what I have done so far:
1. Deployed the report using Visual Studio
2. updated the rsreportserver.config file with the following entry:
I've also tried using the StrongNameMembershipCondition with no better results.
4. The dll and its dependencies are copied to the bin directory of the report server.
5. When I load a report with this custom report item on it, the report loads fine with no errors or warnings in the log file (even with verbose tracing). The area where the custom item should be is just white. It's almost like Reporting Services isn't registering the item correctly.
This is particularly frustrating because the report works fine in Visual Studio - apparently I configured that correctly. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm stumped.
1. have report called report_a.rdl with subscriptions attached to it 2. developed a new report called report_b.rdl with the same parameter list as report_a.rdl 3. i would like to replace report_a.rdl with report_b.rdl without losing the subscriptions.
I think this is the workflow:
1. rename report_a.rdl to report_a_old.rdl in BIDS 2. rename report_b.rdl to report_a.rdl in BIDs 3. deploy report_a.rdl to reporting server
Will that work even though the ReportID GUID will change?
Every day between 1AM to 2AM client disconnect happens and it's not too long also...it's about 30secs...nothing is recorded from SQL side and application server side and then we checked the network...there is no disconnect from network side too. How can i find the cause for disconnect.
"InteractiveHeight is only supported on RS 2005. Opening a report in BI Development Studio of SQL Server 2005 will automatically add this property. You can find the property on the Report element. In report designer (properties window) it is also on the report element / Layout / Interactive Size / Height."
Why don't I see the Report Properties screen that includes the Interactive Size elements? My Report Properties screen looks the same as it did in VS2003.
I need to modify the InteractiveHeight element. It has been added to the RDL source.

I have areport with a text box. The text box is hyperlinked to another report url. The report opens in a new page when previewed with RS 2005 but when deployed the report opens in teh same page from where it is referenced.
How can I set a property with the texbox to always open in a new page the hyperlinked report.
I want to open a pdf file in a new window by clicking on its URL in SSRS reoprt. I heard that it is possible with Java script. So I tried with ="javascript:void window.open('yoururl&rs:Command=Render"')" in the SSRS expression. It is working only for https and http.
I have a dropdown which shows all the available reports on reporting server. What I want to do is when a user select a report from dropdown and click on RUN REPORT button. That particular report will run. I am using VB.NET 2.0 version. One way which i am thinking is to use ReportViewer Control. Is there any other way to publish the reports in window forms or ReportViewer will take care. Kindly guide.
we are working with Sql Server Reporting services for creating reports. what is my question is , how we can create a setup for deploying the reports in the report server. please advise
I'm having a little bit of trouble deploying the report project I have set up. In fact, I'm not even sure that deploying the project is what I want to do. All I want is to have something so I can view the report I've created in HTML or PDF form, something that was advertised when I downloaded the reporting services. Any help with what I would need with this would be appreciated.
I am trying to open reports through an existing application. When I click the button to run the report, the new window opens, appears to be trying to load (the windows logo in the top corner is flowing, the hourglass is present), and then stops. I am left with a blank window, no report, and no error message.
I am able to view and run the reports through the Report Server. Other users are able to run the reports through the application.
I have a strange problem that basically consists of showing a report in Internet Explorer and then using the same Internet Explorer window to show an asp.net page that contains some form where the user can enter some data. In this scenario, the form won't be processed on the server. I really need to know why and how I can work around this problem.
Precisely the problem can be reproduced like this:
Environment: Server: Windows 2003 Standard Server SP1 (German), IIS 6, Client: Windows XP SP2, Internet Explorer 6
First I open a new Internet Explorer Window and let it show me a Reporting Services Report (by entering its url into the address bar). Everything works. Then I change the address to a simple web application's address that is built with asp.net (.net 1.1). The application contains only a form with a submit-button, a text box and a label, that shows the textbox' text after submit was clicked. But when I click the submit button, although the form seems to have been sent to the server (the green progress bar in the status bar is flickering), it's reset. So the label does not show the value I have entered into the the textbox and the textbox itself is cleared. This only happens when the browser was first showing a Report from Reporting Services, so when I open a new Browser Window and go directly to the web app, everything works fine.
It does not happen when I open the Browser directly on the server.
I installed the hot fix RS2005-KB920794-x86-ENU.exe, what supposes to solve the problem that "selection of multiple values in parameters of a report" generated in Report Builder is possible. Unfortunatly, this issue is not solved by the hot fix.
Hello all, I have a peculiar problem. We are using VS-2005,SSRS-2005,SqlServer-2005. Our front end is Windows forms and we are communicating with SSRS through WebServices protocol. Through WebServices we are generating dynamic parameters based on the report and were able to show them on the Win form screen.
The previously entered values are being retained even though we delete the existing one. I am unable to figure out the cause of it.
I have created reports in SQL Server reporting services(SSRS)and when i publish the report in the Localhost server it can be viewed in browser only in the INTRANET network but my intention is to generate the INTERNET URL of the report such that report published can be viewed in INTERNET outside this network..
First, let me freely admit I know nothing about report models or how to deploy them. I was trying to learn by going through the tutorials. The creating part I get, but the deployment part seems to be over my head.
The error message I get is "A connection cannot be made to the report server http://hqjds02/Reports."
I don't understand why. Yeah...I get that it can't connect for some reason. Probably because I have messed things up somehow.
This is how I've got the deployment properties set:
TargetDataSourceFolder: Development (DV)/Data Sources TargetModelFolder: Development (DV)/Models TargetServerURL: http://hqjds02/Reports
In searching for an answer earlier I saw where someone wrote that I should be able to go to the URL and copy and paste it from IE. The actual URL is http://hqjds02/Reports/Pages/Folder.aspx?ItemPath=%2fDevelopment+(DV)&ViewMode=Detail . I tried it, but it didn't work.
I am working with a MS 2005 SQL Server database. I have the following error message. A connection could not be made to the report server http://localhost/ReportServer. I am trying to develop these on a network server. Is this a configuration issue, that it is expecting this on the local machine.
This "reponse is not well-formed XML" error also occurs when I try to expand any of the folders from a "reporting services" server type in management studio.
i am new for SQL server report service, i have a project that need to generate report and integrate or shown on my window application, so i have a few questions as follows:
1) do i need to add web reference ( report ) to my window application?. 2) how can i preview and print .rdl report within my window application? 3) how to automatically printer report? can this be done by within a store procedure or trigger or in window application?
ps: view reprot manager, ---- http://localhost/reportserver$SQLEXPRESS ask me name & password? what name should i type in sa? or Administrator or ?
I have created several reports using SSRS which is installed in my local machine. But source data base is in the main server. Data source connection works properly. Report manager is also configured to local machine.
Now I tried to deploy these reports to main server. So I changed the target URL to http://mainservername/reportsserver in the internal report property change box. But it was not succeeded. I get a error message like this.
------ Build started: Project: Partner Reports -Internal, Configuration: Production ------
Build complete -- 0 errors, 0 warnings
------ Deploy started: Project: Partner Reports -Internal, Configuration: Production ------
Deploying to http://derby/ReportServer
Error rsRPCError : The report server cannot decrypt the symmetric key used to access sensitive or encrypted data in a report server database. You must either restore a backup key or delete all encrypted content. Check the documentation for more information. (rsReportServerDisabled)
I have created a report using SSRS 2005. It uses a stored procedure. It executes beautifully when I'm in reporting services. But, when I deploy it to Report Manager, this is the error I am getting.
An error has occurred during report processing. Query execution failed for data set 'DataSource1'. An MDX Statement was expected. An MDX expression was specified.
I have 3 parameters in this report. Start Date, End Date & Region. Region is a drop down that contains 2 options. This is a string field being passed into the procedure. Start and end dates are just basic date fields.
I am not using a cube to get my data.
I have deployed to the Report Manager before and have been successful.
A report runs successfully on report design and successfully complete the build process but when I clicked Deploy button an error message came out:
Microsoft Report Designer A connection could not made to the report server http://localhost Additional information: The attempt to connect to the report server failed. Check your connection information and that the report server is a compatible version. (Microsoft ReportingServices.Designer)
