DateTime :: To_CHAR :: Change Week Start

Dec 28, 2007

So I need to select and average a whole bunch of data by week. Currently, I group by:

GROUP BY TO_CHAR(m.ENDTIME, 'IW')

and select using

SELECT ... TO_CHAR(m.ENDTIME, 'IW') Week

to summarize by week.

Since the first day of the year was a monday, it sets the weeks as monday-monday. I need to set the weeks to be Thursday 7pm to Thursday 7pm. How can this be achieved? Thanks.

Transact SQL :: Get Week Number From DateTime Field?

Aug 21, 2015

Any easier way to do what I am trying, without having a table with all the dates and week numbers.

Scenario: Week number of a DateTime Field where the year does not start on January 01st but April 1st to 31 Mach.

Issue: A week always starts on a Monday so if the 1st is on Tuesday, the first week is Tuesday – Sunday, if the 1st April is on Friday, the 1st week is Friday – Sunday and 7 day periods from there.

CREATE
TABLE [dbo].[DailyCanx](
[ID] [int] IDENTITY(1,1)
NOT NULL,
[DateCancelled] [datetime] NULL
)
ON [PRIMARY]

[code]....

I could create a table with all the start date and end dates of all the week numbers but I think there must be a better way. using SQL Server 2008 R2.

Monday To Sunday - No Data For A Sunday Being Displayed

Sep 15, 2013

I have written a piece of SQL which I thought was wokring fine. I wanted to show all data for the current week from Monday - Sunday

I wanted to pick up all data from Monday 00:00:01 to Sunday 23:59:59 and then when the data runs again on the next Monday, a completley new set of data starts to be loaded in

On the off chance I have come into work today and realise that no data is being diaplyed, and today is a Sunday

I know for a fact that my SQL will pick up data as soon as it hits 00:00:01 tonight

I really want my SQL to pick up data for a Sunday

BETWEEN DATEADD(wk, DATEDIFF(wk,0,GETDATE()), 0) AND DATEADD(wk, DATEDIFF(wk,0,GETDATE()), 6)

Power Pivot :: Cumulative Total For Current Week Days And Previous Week

Nov 30, 2015

We are trying to compare our current calendar week (based on Monday being the first day of the week) with the previous calendar week.

I'm trying to produce a line chart with 2 axis:

- x axis; the day of the week (Mon, Tues, Wed etc - it is fine for this to be a # rather than text e.g. 1 = Mon, 2 = Tues etc)
- y axis; the cumulative number of orders

The chart needs two series:

Previous Week. The running count of orders placed that week.
Current Week. The running count of orders placed this week.

Obviously in such a chart the 'Current Week' series is going not going to have values along the whole axis until the end of the week. This is expected and the aim of the chart is to see the current week compares against the previous week for the same day.

I have two tables:

Orders TableCalendar Table

The calendar table's main date column is [calDate] and there are columns for the usual [calWeekNum], [calMonth] etc.

My measure for counting orders is simply; # Orders: = countrows[orders].

How do I take this measure and then work out my two series. I have tried numerous things such as adapting TOTALMTD(), following articles such as these:

- [URL] ...
- [URL] ...

But I have had no luck. The standard cumulative formulas do work e.g. if I wanted a MTD or YTD table I would be ok, it's just adjusting to a WTD that is causing me big issues.

Create A Yesterday, This Week, Last Week Calculated Member

May 23, 2007

Hi all,

I'd like to add a yesterday dimension member to a new dimension, like a "Time Utility" dimension, that references the second last day of non empty data in a cube.

At the moment, I'm doing this:

Code Snippet

create member [MIA DW].[DATE TIME].[Date].[Yesterday]
as [DATE TIME].[Date].&[2007-01-01T00:00:00]

select [Measures].members on 0,
non empty [DATE TIME].[Date].members on 1
from [MIA DW]
But the [yesterday] member does not seem to belong to [DATE TIME].[Date].members?

So I guess there's two questions:

1) Can I have a new empty dimension which contains all these special members like "Yesterday" or "This Week" and "Last Week" (these last two obviously refer to a set of Dates)

2)How come the Yesterday member is not returned by the .members function?

Thanks

Greg

ISO Year Week Day Of Week Function

Jan 18, 2006

Function F_ISO_YEAR_WEEK_DAY_OF_WEEK returns the ISO 8601 Year Week Day of Week in format YYYY-W01-D for the date passed. W01 represents the week of the year from W01 through W53, and D represents the day of the week with 1 = Monday through 7 = Sunday.

The first week of each year starts on the first Monday on or before January 4 of that year, so that the year begins from December 28 of the prior year through January 4 of the current year.

Get Last Monday Through Sunday Data Question

Jan 12, 2007

I'm using VB.Net and SQL Server. Here's the scenario I have that I can't figure out how to accomplish:
(btw, this is all manual - I'm NOT using an ASP.Net Calendar control) I want to provide a week's worth of calendar data automatically. Let's say I have all the calendar dates and times in a table. But - I only want to show the data from the current week.
So, no matter which day the end user loads the page (Monday, Tuesday, Saturday, etc), I want to be able to find the previous Sunday (or Monday?), and then provide data from the table for events that are happening from that Monday, through the next Sunday.
Finding the last Monday (or Sunday?) is the first problem, and then getting only data between that date and the following Sunday is the second problem - how to create the code and hw to create the sql statement - -
any ideas?

The String Was Not Recognized As A Valid DateTime. There Is A Unknown Word Starting At Index 0.

May 2, 2008

Hi,

I got this error report "The string was not recognized as a valid DateTime. There is a unknown word starting at index 0." at this line of code in BOLD.

For some reasons the datetime format in the database has the (US datetime format - 05/02/2008 06:40 instead of United Kingdom (UK date time format - 02/05/2008 06:40), as I had planned. I have tried to reformat the database and VB date format and all to no success.Could this be the root of my problems?

How To Aggregate, Preserving Starting/ending Record Ids?

Jun 14, 2007

I have a bunch of records of the following layout:

A B 1235
A B 1236
A B 1237
A C 1238
A C 1239

When I run my script, I want to aggregate these together, but preserve the starting and ending record ids in two new columns:

A B 1235 1237
A C 1238 1239

Can I do all of this in an Aggregate Transformer, or do I need to derive some columns first?

Thanks!

Jul 9, 2007

Hi,
I'm inserting a datetime values into sql server 2000 from c#

SQL server table details
Table nameate_test
columnname datatype
No int
date_t DateTime

C# coding
SqlConnection connectionToDatabase = new SqlConnection("Data Source=.\SQLEXPRESS;Initial Catalog=testdb;Integrated Security=SSPI");
connectionToDatabase.Open();
DataTable dt1 = new DataTable();
dt1.Columns.Add("no",typeof(System.Int16));
dt1.Columns.Add("date_t", typeof(System.DateTime));
DataRow dr = dt1.NewRow();
dr["no"] = 1;
dr["date_t"] = DateTime.Now;
dt1.Rows.Add(dr);
for(int i=0;i<dt1.Rows.Count;i++)
{
string str=dt1.Rows["no"].ToString();
DateTime dt=(DateTime)dt1.Rows["date_t"];
string insertQuery = "insert into date_test values(" + str + ",'" + dt + "')";
SqlCommand cmd = new SqlCommand(insertQuery, connectionToDatabase);
cmd.ExecuteNonQuery();
MessageBox.Show("saved");
}
When I run the above code, data is inserted into the table
The value in the date_t column is 2007-07-09 22:10:11 000.The milliseconds value is always 000 only.I need the millisecond values also in date_t column.
Is there any conversion needed for millisecond values?

thanks,
Mani

SQL Query: Finding Records Between Datetime Inside Datetime

Mar 17, 2007

Hey :)I'm facing a lot of troubles trying to create a new pause/break-system. Right now i'm building up the query that counts how many records that is inside 2 fields. Let me first show you my table:
ID (int)     |    stamp_start (Type: DateTime)        |      stamp_end (Type: DateTime)           |      Username (varchar)0             |      17-03-07 12:00:00                      |            17-03-07 12:30:00                     |     Hovgaard
The client will enter a start time and a end time and this query should then count how many records that are inside this periode of time.
 Example: The client enter starttime: 12:05 and endtime: 12:35.The query shall then return 1 record found. The same thing if the user enters 12:20 and 12:50.My current query looks like this:SELECT COUNT(ID) AS Expr1 FROM table WHERE (start_stamp <= @pausetime_start) AND (end_stamp >= @pausetime_end)But this will only count if I enter the exact same times as the one inside the table.Any ideas how I can figure this out?Thanks for your time so far :)/Jonas Hovgaard - Denmark

Datetime Data Type Resulted In An Out-of-range Datetime Value. Please Help

May 13, 2006

Hi,
I have a column of type datetime in sqlserver 2000. Whenever I try to insert the date
 '31/08/2006 23:28:59'
 I get the error "...datetime data type resulted in an out-of-range datetime value"
I've looked everywhere and I can't solve the problem. Please note, I first got this error from an asp.net page and in order to ensure that it wasn't some problem with culture settings I decided to run the query straight in Sql Query Anaylser. The results were the same. What else could it be?
cheers,
Ernest
