I updated my PC last night and when it was over, I shut it down. This morning, when I woke up and started it, I tried entering my PIN and it told me that it was incorrect. I tried entering my MS password, which I know it's correct, and it told me the same thing. Now I can't log in on my computer.

After the latest big Windows 10 update today, I see two user accounts have been created, namely "Default" and "Default.migrated" Neither existed beforehand. They both contain quite a few folders and subfolders which at the bottom level are all empty. Can I safely delete these accounts?
Previously I had all Public Folders from the Public Account set to locations off my SSD, now they have been recreated on my SSD and I can't move them apart from "Public Account Pictures" as the option to relocate them is not present even though Windows says they can be relocated - see screenshots.
Can the Public Account be deleted without consequence - I never use it!
I changed the PC name and now I have no admin access so I am locked out of making any changes. How can I change it back? or am I hooped...

View 9 RepliesI just upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 7. My wife and I use the same computer at home and each have a user account.
On Windows 7, when the computer started, the first screen we would see is both user accounts and select the appropriate one. Windows 10 (as many of you already know) seems to go directly to the user account that was on at shutdown. Is there any setting I could make to offer the choice of both user accounts each time on boot up?

View 1 RepliesI had Windows 10 configured to auto log on with only a single user account and haven't had a single issue until last night after a restart to apply updates. Now when I boot my PC I am stopped at the login screen stating my password is invalid. The reason it's invalid is I now have two accounts with my name assigned however the one it tries to log into by default is the newly created one (it looks like it simply duplicated my original) and it doesn't allow any access to Windows. I select my original and log in manually just fine.
The problem is there is only one User listed in the User Accounts settings and that account only appears on initial boot as I can log out to the login screen post boot and the account has disappeared.
So, a while back I had a problem on the Windows 10 Home Edition where it would not let me change my lock screen. Since I didn't have the pro edition, I couldn't change the policy in the registry editor because of a lack of one, so I transferred all my files to a local account. I then had the problem of programs asking me to enter my admin password every time I wanted to access certain protected programs, so I disabled the admin password so this would no longer happen. I then deleted the account which was considered the program and went on with my normal business on my PC.
Later, I restarted my PC, and when I went to login, it said my password was incorrect for my local account. I then went into my boot options, opened command prompt in safe mode and changed my admin password. I then restarted my PC and now I don't even have the option to login at all, coming up with the error message "Your account has been disabled. Please see your system administrator." Now this problem usually fixed by holding shift and pressing restart to access boot options, but I cannot do this.
Every time I press OK to go back to the lock screen, it instantly goes back to the administrator message, meaning I can't boot anything. I planned on doing a complete reinstall of Windows 10 using a bootable usb iso, but since I can't boot it, this isn't possible, unless I'm missing something such as a key allowing me to launch the boot options from launch, although I've tried keys such as f8 to no avail.
What is ask Contra. Is it a virus?

View 2 RepliesI've been working on my wife's computer that has had Win10 for the last several months. Her computer completely refuses to update Windows anymore. The updates will get stuck downloading at 0% even overnight and it uses up so much of the system resources that the computer slows to a crawl, taking ages to respond to any action, if it does at all.
Things I've tried:
1) Clearing out the Software Distribution folder
2) System restore
3) Windows update troubleshooter
4) Completely reinstalling Win10 via the Reset option in the Recovery menu (choosing to delete all files and programs)
The computer still locks up when trying to download any Win10 updates. The computer is a reasonably new desktop with 16GB of RAM and an AMD 8-core processor (I can get the more specific specs off of it if necessary).
I restarted Windows 10, and it started installing updates. The computer restarted a couple times saying it was installing updates, and eventually it said that there was a problem installing the updates, and that it was reverting changes. It hung on this is screen for about five minutes, and then (my arm touched the keyboard in this instant, not sure if any buttons were pressed) I got a blue screen, with the error code disappearing too fast for me to read and remember it. Now when my computer attempts to start up, it shows the gigabyte 3d bios splash screen, goes to a black screen with a command prompt-esque cursor blinking, maybe five or so lines from the top. At this point it seems the only input it will accept is ctrl-alt-del, which restarts it and leads to the same outcome.

View 5 RepliesI did the update "circle" my computer completed it restarted and my monitors have been black and not reading my gpu now for about 4 hours. This is my second time tryingg the update. I have a nvidia 660 and made sure I had the right drivers installed before doing this. Is there something I can do to my tower to get the "asus" screen to pop up. View 2 RepliesAfter downloading Windows 10, my internet speed went significantly down, from 35 mbps to 4 mbps. I recovered my original Windows 8.1, hoping it was the new Windows that was causing the problem, but my computer is still very slow compared to what it used to be. I know the problem is in my computer because the three other PC's in my house are all working at normal speeds. I ran a virus scan with no luck. Could the Windows 10 upgrade have installed something that's still slowing down my internet?

As you are aware, Windows 10 PCs have been programmed to automatically check for updates and install any updates they find. Windows 10 is also set to normally schedule reboots for when you are away from the computer. Is there a tool available to stop Windows Update from automatically rebooting your computer?
View 2 RepliesTitle says it all. After waking from sleep mode the computer disconnects from the internet and I have to reboot to get a connection. Makes the whole point of having a "sleep" mode useless. This is annoying because often I go away from m y computer for a few hours during the day and don't want to have to reboot to get back onto my computer. Rebooting wears out the components and is uneccessary when it should simply wake from sleep mode with no hassles. I have a wired connection via ethernet cable. My router is always switched on.
