Oct 31, 2015I upgraded my pc from windows 7 to windows 10 but i want to move windows to a external storage device. So can I move it to the storage device somehow or do I have to downgrade back to windows 7 then redo the the upgrade process but choose option that saves it to a external storage device? Jan 3, 2016After installing KB3124200 & KB3116900 updates, I'm no longer able to rename or move folders. When I try, it gives the error "Can't find the specified file".
I have done sfc /scannow but it didn't work. Also, I have run default file associations registry files from here, but it didn't work either.
Why Can't Move Public Folders
Aug 1, 2015When I was running Windows 8.1 I had moved my Public folders from C drive to D Drive (My C drive is an SSD and want to keep it for OS not Data) - After upgrading to Windows 10, Public folders have reverted back to C drive. I can see an option to move them if I right click the folder in File Manager, but event though the path text box is enabled (i.e. I can select the text) I cannot edit it. I have tried running file manager in administrator mode but it makes no difference

These 3 folders (in my case its many many folders) have files in them. I would like to move those files (from banana, cucumber, and apple) to the BASKET folder. The folders are so many, it's tedious to go in each one and move the files back one by one.

Nov 15, 2015So currently when I go into "This PC" I have 6 icons at the top : Desktop, Documents, Downloads, Music, Pictures & Videos.
As I'm running my OS off a 120gb SSD I typically store my documents/photos/videos etc on another drive, in this case my D drive. If I right click > Properties on these folders there is a tab titled Location, which normally lets me change where the folder points to. However on both the Documents and Pictures folders I see the following issue when trying to change away from the default "Onedrive" location :
Note : This is the error I get when I try to move the folder location ANYWHERE, not just to the D drive.

Aug 3, 2015I recently got an SSD, with my old HDD set as a storage. I was trying to move the quick navigation folders on the left of Windows Explorer from the SSD to the D: drive (HDD).
However, with the 'My Music' shortcut, I accidently moved it to just the D: drive, rather than a folder within the D: Drive. This means the 'My Music' now directs me to straight to the D: drive, and when I try and move it, Windows says access is denied.

Mar 12, 2016Cannot move, copy or delete folders in widows 10 file explorer. I get the message "cannot find item This is no longer located in F:video. Verify the item's location and try again." Does not matter which drive or which folder, this is always the result. I can however click on the folder, open it and move, copy or delete the files inside the folder. I am then stuck with empty folders all over my computer.
I have been using Windows 10 for a number of months without this issue, just stared happening this morning.

Jan 10, 2016I received an ASUS Transformer T100-HA, which is essentially a Windows 10 tablet with a keyboard docking platform. I love it. Not entirely a fan of Windows 10 yet, but it is somewhat growing on me.
In the Windows 10 Settings panel, under the Storage options and the main OS drive, (a built-in 64GB SSD) I have the option to clear out temporary files and other data that is taking up space where it is not needed.
However, when I click the button to delete temporary files, it tells me to wait a moment, then goes back to showing the 16.4GB of occupied space that it had before.

Nov 6, 2015I have a lot of photos on Dropbox and wanted to switch them over to OneDrive, as my Dropbox was full and I have unlimited OneDrive space so I may as well utilize it, but after moving everything over, all the photos are showing up in the OneDrive folder in Windows Explorer. The folder is taking up the same amount of space as what I had saved to Dropbox. What is the point of OneDrive cloud space if I have to download everything to my desktop anyway?

Is There A Simple Way To Move Windows Install To SSD
Sep 28, 2015I'm currently on a 1TB HDD (roughly 700GB used) and recently picked up a 120GB SSD for the OS and whatever game I am playing at the time. I've gotten mixed messages regarding the most efficient method to do this. I'm just thinking of creating an usb installer of Windows 10 and just installing it straight to the SSD and then deleting the windows files from the HDD.
Is there a simple way to move my windows install to the SSD? I can't clone my HDD since it is much larger then my SSD and I don't have enough storage to move enough data off of the HDD to get that down under 120GB.

Nov 12, 2015Up until a few days ago when I clicked the windows key and typed C:projects (or any folder) and clicked enter that location would open. This is no longer working. I can still open applications but I can't open any folder locations. Is there a settings somewhere for this?
After more testing, when I hit the windows key and type C:projects and hit the enter key....Nothing happens. However if I do the same procedure but instead click on C:projects with my mouse the folder opens. So it seems only the enter key won't open the folder.
