It DOES recognize my camera as an external drive, and any thumb drive I plug in...however, it says there are NO FILES on those drives. I import pictures every day, and can no longer do this. Is my only option uninstalling Windows 10 and going back to 8.1?
View 1 RepliesI just 'upgraded' to Windows 10 yesterday from 7. Windows 7 has a generic photo upload program that activated when I hooked the camera up. Windows 10 does not recognize my camera in G drive.
Is there a generic program available to upload photos? Samsung support says they do not support Windows 10.
Ever since I upgraded to Windows 10 it takes HOURS to transfer even small files from my camera's SD card to the computer's hard drive via the built-in card reader.
The "speed" meter barely goes above 300 KBS per second.
It is a SanDisk 32GB extreme card.
I updated to the latest drivers for Intel AVStream Camera on my tablet / laptop. After the update, only the front camera works now.
View 1 RepliesI was moving video files (AVI) from an external backup drive (WD Element) to another external backup drive (Seagate expansion) after having moved another video file from my laptop (Acer) to that Seagate external drive. The night before I had moved some video files from the WD to the Seagate with no problem but using a different laptop (Sony). These video files are all rather large and I can tell that the space is still being allocated on the Seagate because while the folder cannot be seen the space that was there is still being used by the Seagate because I am missing over 100GB which would be about the size of that now missing folder.
What happened was there was a message that the Seagate drive could not be recognized while the files were in the process of being moved to that drive from the WD. This is after I had already moved a video file of about 26GB with no problem into that now missing folder. When I saw the message I attempted several times to move files to that Seagate drive but I could not so I unplugged the Seagate drive from that laptop (Acer) then reinserted it into the usb port. I got a repair message that said it needed to be repaired because some files were corrupted and that no data would be lost but the drive would be unavailable during the repairs so I checked ok. It took only about 30 seconds and it said the repairs were completed and the drive was available but I noticed that the folder that I was moving the video files to was not gone.
As I stated there are more than 100GB of files in that folder some are video and others are audio recordings that were created by using the myrecording (audio and video) features of the Acer laptop and they are very important so I need to figure out if they can be retrieved from that Seagate drive. I have not copied anything else onto that Seagate drive but I have plugged it into the Acer computer to ensure it is being recognized. Both the external drives WD and Seagate are plug and play that are powered from the usb -- they have no power adapters.
I set my screen to turn off after ten minutes but it doesn't shut off. Today I read somewhere that it could be because I have a USB hub plugged in. Sure enough I unplugged the Hub and my screen shuts down as I have set it up to do. I need what is plugged into my hub and it is a real hassle to reboot my machine when I plug the Hub back in. I have also noticed one more thing and that is that programs that run in the back ground for instance Seti @ Home slows way down since the screen stays on.
View 4 RepliesI recently did the Windows 10 upgrade. Previously, my speakers worked fine. Now, they won't work at all. My monitor has speakers, and they do work when I select the monitor. However, Windows is telling me that my desktop speakers are not plugged in. That's not true of course - they are plugged in the same way they always were before, using the 3-colored jacks.
The speakers are basic Logitech speakers - two desktop speakers and a subwoofer. I found the devices on the Logitech support website, and checked for drivers. Logitech says these speakers have no drivers.
so I'm having problems with my audio. Whenever I play a sound it goes straight to my mic, even if my mic isn't plugged in, and my computer thinks my mic is. If I say play a Youtube video, whoever is in Skype can also hear it, and the only way that they can't hear it is if my mic is disabled. I didn't have this problem before upgrading to Windows 10.

View 9 Repliesever since I purchased a new computer this summer I have had the problem with using my speakers, my HDMI and headphone(Corsair Gaming H2100 Headset) sound is working flawlessly. When I bought it it had Windows 8 installed and I had the exact same problem then. I have both Realtek HD audio and NVIDIA HD audio installed, and I have tried to use both independently with the same result, this has been bugging me for months and I truly do not know what to do.
Edit: the speakers worked without any problems until I got the new computer.
i had my HP Pavilion dv6 7050ca laptop for 3 years now and it was working perfectly until today...I put in my battery (I usually only run my laptop with power cable without battery) and unplugged it to go downstairs to work. After I was done, i put it to sleep, brought it back upstairs and replugged in everything (headset, mouse) including the power cable and once I woke up the laptop, it became insanely stuttery, from the windows 10 interface to the mouse cursor to games to web browsing to everything! Everything still opens fast but it is just the movement of things: mouse cursor, gaming, web browsing, videos, etc. I already tried shutting down and taking out the battery and running it with only power cable like I used to, reinstalling graphics drivers, restarting the computer, unplugging nd re plugging, nothing seems to be working!
View 1 RepliesI can not boot in uefi mode or with secure boot on, I can only use CSM mode. Also when I try to boot without usb drive(which has win 10 on it) in computer it just shuts down and then turn on back and give me error that all boot options have been tried press f4 etc
View 9 RepliesI am preparing this flashdrive for a friend with his favourite anime on it and I carefully prepared all the folders to have neat little icons and hidden the icons files (along with some surprises) in an invisible folder, etc.
But when I try the drive on my laptop everything's gone. The icon's revert back to regular folder icons, everything is in details view (which also makes the invisible folder decidedly noticeable). is there ANY WAY to have a folder retain all of its settings when plugged into a different PC? Both PCs (mine and my friend's) are Windows 10. My laptop that I used for testing is Windows 8 however.

I'm plugged in, so it's not dying, but my battery is at 1% and the battery status mouseover says "1% available (plugged in, not charging)". I've tried all the search results for this problem, including going into Device Manager and uninstalling the battery driver then scanning for updates, but it's still not charging. I even went into Command Prompt and tried sfc /scannow but it didn't change anything.

yesterday i updated windows to latest preview.. install got struck in the middle and then after few hours it suddenly completed.
then it asked to restart as usual, but didnt complete the process. it went to blue screen.
now it only restarting to bluescreen only i plugged in.. no response.. cant even hard reset.
I am running Windows 10 on my Lenovo Flex 3 15.
My problem seems a little complicated so I'll go step by step what happens:
1. I plug in a USB device to use it (like a flash drive or a printer)
2. Windows makes the "device recognized" sound
3. Nothing happens, so I go to device manager to see if the device is actually working. It's listed under "other devices" and it says "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28). There are no compatible drivers for this device."
4. I reboot my computer WITH THE USB DEVICE PLUGGED IN and all of a sudden and without explanation the device manager recognizes the device and its driver and I can use.
5. I unplug the device and plug it back in and it goes back to step 2.
6. Also, when I click "update drivers" it cannot find them automatically and when I search for the driver manually it just gives me an error saying it did not install successfully.
This is such a frustrating problem because it means I have to reboot every time I need to use a printer or a flash drive. I also have tried everything I can think of: uninstalling every last trace of the driver and trying to let it install freshly on its own; checking the status of Plug and Play; etc.
This may possibly sound like a stupid question but can I mute the system notification sounds when I have headphones plugged in?
Last night I was happily watching a video with headphones when an e-mail came in; Windows blared a load BING at me.
I am having trouble getting my internet connection to work with an ethernet cord. I have no problem using wifi, but I get disconnected on wifi pretty frequently. I have two ethernet cords in my possession, one of them is new, and neither works. I've tried connecting to the router and the modem.
I've used used troubleshooter with both wires while plugged into the router and the modem. I've created a connection that has our given username and our password in it.
I turn off the wifi specifically by clicking on the wifi icon on the bottom right of my computer screen. It seems that the ethernet cord is not detected.
I have just installed Windows 10 now when the mains charger is plugged in the screen remains black, switch the charger off screen on, I have checked power settings etc seems ok
View 7 RepliesI am having this issue with a Surface Pro 3 on a dock, that when it is plugged in to a certain port it doesn't recognize the internet connection. If I take the surface to a different port and plug it in it works, if I get a different surface and plug it in to the port I am working with it works. Its only when the surface I am working with is plugged into that specific port, that it doesn't work. I need this surface plugged into this port, I can't plug it in anywhere else.
I have tried updating drivers, changing the dock, and also plugging in a USB to Ethernet adapter to bypass the dock. Nothing has worked. I also can't just get a different Surface because I don't have another surface with Win 10 on it. I need to have this Surface connected to this port but it will not work.
I have a laptop with one jack for headphones and microphone. The computer will not register headphones being plugged in. The speakers work fine and continue going when headphones are plugged in.
I have the newest audio driver and I can find no way to get the headphones to work. I don't know if it's the hardware, Windows 1-, the drivers, or something else.
I set monitor to turn off after 15 minutes and computer to sleep after 3 hours, none of that works unless i disconnect game controller, than it works perfectly. is there any way to solve this or i just to wait for microsoft to release some kind of update?
