Clean Reinstall Unexpected Error Loop

Oct 18, 2015

I installed Windows 10 on my Win 7 HP Envy 4 laptop recently. A week later, the computer began running very slowly and the start menu and notification center stopped working.

Finally, I decided to do a clean reinstall of Windows 10, using the media creation tool and a USB drive. I was able to get the installation started fine, but after 20 minutes it hung on "the computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error." Attempts to hit "OK" and start again bring up the same message and the same circling dots. I've tried the regedit fix described on various sites, but regedit also hangs before I'm able to exit. Now the computer hangs on a screen asking for the Win 10 product key. No way to enter it even if I had it.

I'm at a loss on what to do now. The computer won't boot to safe mode. I can access the BIOS screen, but only the two first keys are responsive; trying to change boot order, for example, just results in the same reinstall error message.

Have I hopelessly bricked this machine? I'm not worried about losing files, but I'd sure like to get this thing running again.

Installation :: Clean Install Caused Repair Loop Error

May 30, 2015

Win 7 user here, wanting to dual boot with Windows 10 preview (on a different partition).

So I made a Win 10 usb boot disc, and it installed it fine. Played around with the new Windows for a few mins, whilst it downloaded an update, and after installing the update, it said it needs to restart, naturally. So I did.

However, since then, the PC keeps restarting, showing a Windows 10 logo, and below that is the text, "preparing automatic repair". Then it just resets, and goes in this endless loop.

Why is this happening, and how do I resolve it?

Onboard Reinstall Boot Loop

Aug 14, 2015

Just reset Windows 10 on my laptop because I was unable to sign into my Microsoft account therefore I couldn't access Cortana or the Store or any of the new Microsoft 10 features. Everything else worked fine. So I started the reset process and chose the option to save all my personal files, and the process went smoothly until it got to the end of the installation. Now it looks like I'm stuck in a boot loop and it has been going on for about 12 hrs now. I am going to go to work and hope it is finished resetting when I come home.I loved Windows 10 so far, I just needed to be able to sign into my Microsoft account.

Boot Loop - 3rd Time After Full Reinstall And A Patch

Jun 18, 2015

This is not my main system, but it's still annoying. Full clean install of evaluation build 10074 on this system:

Intel i7 Gen 1
EVGA MB
6x 2GB sticks of ram
Titan X nvidia Card
2x 250GB SSD in Raid 0

After the patch, which I can postpone, but not avoid, I get windows is repairing after update message followed by a reboot.

I have tried the following repair options:

system recovery, no image found... though I did attempt to create a restore point.
Windows Rollback
Refresh PC
startup repair
System Reset
..and whatever other options are on the install disk for repair. I have even installed and that didn't work. The only thing that seems to work is a full reformat of the drives. This happens only after a windows update.

While I would like to see how the new features work, Its not worth having to reformat everything and reinstall on my SSDs over and over. I also use this PC for when guests come over. This has happened to me 3 times. Each time after a full clean install, and each time after a windows patch.

BSOD :: Regular IRQL Unexpected Error After Upgrading

Nov 13, 2015

I have recently upgrading to windows 10 on a fairly new machine, after doing so I have had regular BSOD (IRQL unexpected error), there doesn't seem to be much connection between them other than watching videos whilst online. When I got the first one I read a bug fix online which said to fix it either revert back to my previous OS (windows 8) or reinstall windows 10. I did the later thinking I could always revert back if that didn't work but alas it has now gotten rid of that option and the problem still persisted. I downloaded bluescreen view to work out that it was a problem with nwifi.sys driver, and so updated my wifi driver accordingly but the problem still persists.

I hopefully have attached the associated info dump.

Sep 20, 2015

I am trying to sort out my Wife's pc which has recently started having BSOD's with the message Unexpected_Kernel_Mode_Trap and error code 0x7f. It happens during quiet times when nothing is being done on the pc. I have tested the memory using the Win 10 memory tester. That comes up all clear. I tried running sfc /scannow but when it got to 100%, the BSOD occurred. This happened 3 times consecutively.

The dump files are here.

Installation :: Unable To Clean Install From USB On Home Build - Boot Loop

Sep 19, 2015

I just build a new machine with a Gigabyte B85M-D3H mobo, Intel Pentium G3258 CPU, 4GB Corsair Value Select DDR3 1333 and 120GB Samsung EVO SSD. I now want to clean install Windows 10 Home (64-bit) from USB drive (created with media creation tool), but the machine is stuck in boot loop. The Windows logo appears for a few seconds and then the machine reboots, I don't have clue where in the boot process something goes wrong.

I already tried with a usb stick with Windows 8 installation files and this starts without issues. I made sure Fast boot en secure boot were disabled but without success. Also already reset the BIOS with optimized settings.

The stick boots till the first screen on different other machines.

Apps :: Reinstall (Default) Applications - Error Code Is 0x80070003

Feb 1, 2016

Right now some of the 'default' application's that come loaded with windows 10 are working..but for some reason some of them are not. The one I'm most concerned about is Mail & Calendar, right now when I go into the windows store..it shows I have update's available, it adds them to the download queue properly..but upon trying to download / install them I get a message that says ' Try that again-see details, Something went wrong, The error code is 0x80070003 in case you need it.

I've tried several thing's to try and correct this..so far no luck, I know there must be a way to correct this. I was previously running Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 14251 , but I had some issue's with it..so I had to go back to Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 11102.Now when I try and update some of my application's, this is what I'm seeing.

Installation :: Error 0xc0000135 - Windows Not Starting Loop

Jan 22, 2016

my computer which is a HP Envy 700, operating on windows 10. I think it's 64 bit but I'm not 100% sure.Everything has been fine until I switched it on this morning. I switched it on then went off somewhere, came back to see it was running a disc check and then I got a blue screen saying my computer had ran in to a problem and needed to restart.

It goes into a loop, of not being able to start up. It won't even load in safe mode. I've tried a system restore but the only date it will reset to is the day before. This fails, it says the restore file is damaged or something.

My housemate looked at it, only had him for an hr before he had to go out but he pressed a key as the computer was starting up, and set something so that the computer would start up using(?) a USB, on this USB he put an installation file for windows 10. He tried to run a repair off this USB and tried to run the repair (which would not delete my files). Annoyingly this didn't work, I've lost the page, but it said in order to do this, youd have to run windows normally. Which we can't do.He says the last thing he can try when he gets back is to install Linux and save the files I want to keep using that, and then format the computer. It didn't sound like he thought that would work though.

BSOD :: Constant Blue Screen Error And Restarting Loop

Feb 10, 2016

I recently purchased an intel NUC6i5SYH kit PC and fitted it with the following RAM and HDD.

Samsung 500GB 850 EVO M.2 SSD: Amazon.co.uk: Computers Accessories

HyperX Impact 16 GB 2133 MHz DDR4 SODIMM Memory Kit (2 x 8 GB): Amazon.co.uk: Computers Accessories

I installed a copy of windows 8 that I owned and then upgraded it to windows 10. It was working fine for a couple of weeks, and suddenly it had and error and is stuck rebooting itself with a blue screen error.

The error appears to be different every time but the ones I have seen repeated are "WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR" and "MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION".

I can get into the BIOS and that's about it. I can't find a way to boot into safe mode and when I try and install a fresh copy of windows 10 via USB created from microsoft i still get a blue screen error after a couple of seconds.

BSOD :: Error After System Reset Stuck In Boot Loop

Aug 13, 2015

I recently upgraded to Windows 10 without a problem, but after a while I thought; why not do a clean install? I went ahead and tried to perform a clean install from the windows 10 settings, and chose all drives, and a quick reset.

It then started the process, after which it crashed with a BSOD telling me something went wrong and that it would restart. After that it kept restarting, sometimes with a BSOD, sometimes just freezing on the windows 10 logo. There were different BSOD errors each time it would crash, I can't remember all of them.

Some of them were along the lines of a driver stack overrun, some were telling me system32/winload didn't exist.

We tried a system restore from USB, but there was no difference. We tried going into the BIOS menu, sometimes it worked, sometimes it froze, and we made sure that the USB would be the first the PC would boot from. Still no difference.

At this point the PC just froze on the windows logo, still trying to initialize the system reset I think. I unplugged the drives and plugged them into my laptop to check what was wrong, and both drives were wiped, with nothing left, no hidden files.

Only with both drives unplugged, the PC would give me something different, an error saying that there is no operating system, which is obvious, so I don't think it's the PC, but windows that is generating this problem.

I tried booting from USB multiple times, with a system restore on it, a windows 10 installation on it, and a windows 8.1 installation on it, since that is what my PC started with.

Stuck In Install Loop With Error - USB Was Formatted In NTFS Instead Of Fats32

Aug 10, 2015

I recently tried to fresh install Windows 10. I ended up getting stuck in a install loop with the error INCOMPATIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE so I tried to use a USB instead. This resulted in an error saying my USB was formatted in NTFS instead of Fats32 (even though I had just formatted it to be fats32).

My first question would be how to fix this error? Now, while trying to download Windows, I accidentally deleted my Linux partition (woops). My second question is to just delete all partitions on my hard drive and restart from scratch? I'm attempting this on a Lenovo Ideapad y510p.

Installation :: Boot Error After Clean Install To SSD Old HDD Still Attached

Sep 23, 2015

Inserted my new SSD to a SATA3 port and, next to my HDD 1TB, and went for a clean install right away. The system installed without problems (wiht the old HDD still attached), then i booted up the system (was a bit weird, because two versions were showing, however i formatted the old windows partition) and installed my programs. I saw that a 110 MB of data were still sitting on my old partition where the Windows 10 was earlier. Tried to delete those files but could not. However I shut down my pc and wanted to boot up again. Then it showed me a screen with "select proper boot device or restart computer". I went to BIOS to see if my SSD was set to primary boot device, but it was. But when i manaully select the boot device, my SSD, after starting up the computer, it boots into Windows and is running normally.

Can it be that there is no boot partition on my SSD and it wants to use the boot files from the HDD?? I also tried to unplug the HDD and boot up, but the same massage was showing up. But when i select the boot device manually it works.

Installation :: Clean Install On HP Pavillion - Error 0x80070003

Oct 1, 2015

I am trying to do a clean install of windows 10 on a new SSD on an HP Pavillion purchased in 2009 or 2010. I am booting from a DVD. All is going well in the beginning of the install. I get past the product key verification and partition section. Once it starts copying the windows file during the install it has been giving me the following error message and stopping the install:

"Windows cannot install required files. The file does not exist. Make sure all files required for installation are available and restart the installation. Error code: 0x80070003."

It has made it to different percentages of copying files before it gives me the error. Once I believe it made it almost to 100% and then gave me the error.

I have since re-downloaded the ISO twice onto different discs with no success. Have called microsoft support with no success. Tried booting from USB but the computer does not seem to support it. Tried updating bios but no newer versions were available.

Unable To Activate Pro Version After Clean Install (error Code 0xC004C003)

Jul 29, 2015

I did a clean install of Windows 10 Pro x64 using the method that everyone knows about by now that was written up on various sites today i.e.:

Ran the Media Creation Tool and upgraded my copy of Window 8.1 Professional with Windows 10 Professional. Looked in Control Panel --> System and it said my copy of Windows was activated. Then I ran the Media Creation Tool again and downloaded the ISO. Burned ISO to DVD. Restarted computer, booted into Windows installer on DVD, customized the install by formatting drive, did a fresh install of Windows 10.

Now when I go into Control Panel --> System it says "Windows not activated". When I click on the Activate Windows icon and click the error details link I get the error code: 0xC004C003.

I should note that the Windows 8 OS came pre-installed on my laptop which I bought brand new. I don't think that matters?
