Jan 28, 2015Where Windows 10 stores it's new folder icons. I've tried changing folder icons but I am directed back to where I'm seeing the very old icons from XP, I think.

Aug 13, 2015I created a new folder on the desktop and I can't change its icon to a one I downloaded. selecting the icon from the stock list (shell32.dll) works fine though. I tried with another folder in different location, still no luck. however, when I created a shortcut to the folder I placed on the desktop, I can change its icon to the custom one just fine. I just wanna have a folder with a blank icon.
edit: I fixed the issue. turns out Windows didn't like the fact that there was an "ą" letter in the icon path.

as you can see, I change the windows default folder for downloads to drive F:. How can I make it to show the drive name instead of drive letter? I used the same steps I do in windows 7 and it was working, but in windows 10, it change the download folder to drive letter.

Aug 10, 2015A friend of mine who recently upgraded to Windows 10 is legally blind and is struggling with some accessibility options. Here is what we are struggling with: We need to change the font color of desktop icons to black. Certain contrasts are more visible for some impairments and in this case, a yellow background with black bold icon text is the best condition.
What I've tried : Tried high contrast theme / modeTried to modify regedit based on a suggestion for 8.1 here.
Where I've looked : Control Panel - System - Advanced System Settings - Advanced - PerformancePersonalize - Change Desktop IconsPersonalize - ColorsControl Panel - PersonalizationDisplay SettingsThemes - Theme Settings
I was able to get the text black when using the white high contrast mode, but that option won't work. While it does change the icon text to black, it also takes over many other options that deliver a less than desirable contrast for the user. We originally were thinking we could start with the high contrast theme, save as another theme and then systematically roll back the changes we didn't like, leaving the black text. Does not work - when in high contrast mode it effectively locks out your ability to make certain changes.

Sep 5, 2015I have Pinned a few sites to the start menu using Microsoft Edge. My problem is that all of them have the same "E" edge (internet explorer) icon. So unless I keep them at large size, or remember in what order they were pinned/arranged, I have no clue which pin is for which site.
When you click "Pin To Start" in the options menu in Edge, where are those pins stored?

Oct 4, 2015Two days ago I woke up to this problem, my icon pictures are gone and I can't access properties when I right click anything. So, night before everything was fine, PC went to sleep mode, next morning i get up wake PC from sleep mode and the problem i mentioned was there. Some of the icons i used are custom and some default, so the problem is not in one of those 2 things, and since i cant access properties i figure it is some deeper issue than just icon's picture missing.

Oct 22, 2015I accidentally deleted the default folder icon that comes standard with Windows 10 home. Well, I didn't delete it, I hit the "Unpin from taskbar".
Where do these icons go when you unpin them? And how can I get it back?
I know I can replace it with File Explorer, but I like the files that are displayed with the standard folder icon.

Nov 16, 2015Slip of the keyboard. I unpinned the folder icon that comes standard with Win 10 on the taskbar. I replaced it with File Explorer but it's not the same format. The folder icon that comes with Win 10 on the taskbar brings up the Libraries on the left, then the right side, I think, had folder and file listings. Don't remember - I did this about a month ago.

Oct 7, 2015Here is my problem: I keep my folders in different settings, some with large icons, some with details view.
Today they are all reset to details view, and items are listed by name. Every folder is reset to the same settings. When I try to change they always defaults to details view. Even when I go to another folder and press back, the settings are already reset.
Also, icons on desktop are keep returning to default state (big icons), I keep them smaller, when I hold ctrl and scroll mouse wheel they become smaller, but next time I reset windows they return to default (big icons) view. I already cleaned shellbag in regedit, reset windows but it is still the same.
I saw this other theme with similar problem, but I am not using Eset, I use Kaspersky.
Also I don't have this key in my registry :

Sep 23, 20152 out of the 3 computers at work I have installed Windows 10 Pro on, have an issue of when I reboot the computer, the desktop icons, that were arranged in a certain way, have now all moved to the very left of the desktop. I am running Classic Shell on the machines and so get a desktop view immediately when booting. It's annoying. Windows 8.1 does not do this.
My work computer has both XP and Windows 10 PRO on it as a dual boot. It had a Windows 10 preview edition on it since back in April or May. Then when we decided to move into Windows 10, I merely bought a DVD of Win 10 Pro and when running in that preview OS on the one partition I installed the DVD and did and upgrade. Works fine, but every once in a while I see the explorer view of folders and when I close the folder {X} it magically appears again and click the X again to close it.
For the time I installed a program called DesktopOK ver 4.16 on the one computer and seems to be holding it's own so far (no moving icons back over to the extreme left.

Sep 6, 2015Win10 update and the start menu icons. I can change the colour but only for all of them to one colour, but can I change individual ones? And/Or better still can I make the small icon in the middle of them occupy the whole tile. I notice some tiles are only the brand icon whilst others have my single chosen colour as a border round a small brand icon. I find it really hard to identify individual tiles in the mass of a single colour. What I would really really really like to do is to see the brand icons be the full size of the tile.
