Jan 23, 2016I'm having a problem when I'm on my computer programming or playing a game, my system just shuts down by its self , and when I have closed all windows, its fine all day. Like I will be playing a online game and if anything is open it works for like 5 minutes then it just goes off, no sounds or any beeps, just goes off, I have just got a video card its a GT740 and I just got more ram witch I got at the same time and I installed it so now I have a better video card and 16gb of ram, would the video card not be setup right or its bad ram, This just started when I got the video card and the ram about a week then it started this, I don't know what to do about this, I'm running windows 10 64bit.. I forgot to say that the cpu is 3.50GHz ....

Feb 19, 2016my game volume and my chat volume are mixed so that when I turn up my chat volume, my game volume also turns up. when I turn up my game volume, it doesn't turn it up, but when I turn up my chat volume, it turns up both my game and chat volume. Aug 28, 2015I have read everywhere on how to change the start menu width, however what I am asking for does not seem to be covered anywhere. When I open the "All Apps" section of the start menu to get to my installed programs I am unable to distinguish between some of them due to their width. (See attached screenshot)
What I want is to extend the width of the list of apps, NOT the width of the live tiles area. Seems everywhere covers how to change the width of the start menu but it only affects the live tiles area, not the app list.
I have searched through the registry and can't find anything there. Maybe I missed something?
Eliminate Sound When Adjusting Volume On Sound Icon
Dec 31, 2015I would like to eliminate the sound when I adjust the volume on the sound icon in the lower right hand area of the task bar . Wat steps I can take to be able to still adjust the volume, but not hear the loud sound it makes when adjusting?

Aug 14, 2015I just switch from windows 8.1 to 10 and now I get the audio "beep" when I am using my touchpad. When the mouse moves and it lags an audio beep sounds. Turning off the audio stops the sound and when playing a video, the audio from the video is not affected. Was not happening when I was on Windows 8.1.

Nov 15, 2015My laptop, the Lenovo Ideadpad Y510p has been making two different noises ever since I've had it since last year. One is a "beep" which will emit either when I open the lid to wake it from sleep mode (which is normal), but it also makes this one beep during random times while I'm just surfing the internet. It will happen whether I'm watching a video on youtube or just reading articles/blogs online and scrolling through forums. It just happens and it seems to happen quite frequently, but only once and then it won't happen for many hours.
I did a S.M.A.R.T. test like I've seen people recommend doing that had this same problem on their computers and it passed. I also downloaded Speccy and I think this is it: [URL] ....
The second noise happens when I'm gaming (as this is a gaming laptop, just not up to the quality of today's games), but can continue even when I'm typing like right now. This noise comes directly from my power adapter as I am holding it to my ear right now and it is making this continuous low humming sound (almost like brakes screeching on a highway but from far way because it is not too loud). So I'm assuming that I may need to replace the power adapter, but then I guess to do that I would need to contact Lenovo.
Also, just remembered. This is a minor issue, but it is kind of annoying. It did not happen before, but now it does. What happens is when I open a program for the very first time, like iTunes, Steam, or Chrome, anything. The display is kind of blurry and funky looking. But when I right-click iTunes for instance, go to Properties, Compatibility, and then check the box for "Disable display scaling on high DPI settings" the program looks fine just like my native resolution. It is a fix, but I have to do it for every time I open a new program that I just downloaded for the very first time.

Customization :: Keep Lock Screen On (don't Turn Off Display)
Dec 14, 2015Is there a way to prevent the screen from turning off when the computer is locked? She likes her lock screen images but the screen turns off after 30 seconds or so when locked. (I tried telling her to use desktop wallpaper, but she likes the lock screen better.)

Jul 28, 2015I have done everything I can to turn off Aero Peek. I'm referring to the thumbnail previews you see when you mouse over an open item on your bottom taskbar. For example, if I have Word open but am looking at my desktop, if I mouse over the "Microsoft Word" icon in the taskbar (quick launch taskbar) at the bottom of the screen, I see a small thumbnail image of the document I'm editing.
I just want to disable those little previews / thumbnails when my mouse moves into the lower taskbar and moves over one of the open programs.
I have disabled this in taskbar properties, but that isn't working.
I went into Regedit and set every item I could fine labeled "AeroPeek" to 0.
I'm still seeing those thumbnails.
Customization :: Startup / Welcome Sound
Jul 5, 2015I noticed that all the Technical Preview (Evaluation copies) updates do not contain any Windows Startup or Welcome sound. Will the final release of Windows 10 contain a start up sound ?
