I would like to eliminate the sound when I adjust the volume on the sound icon in the lower right hand area of the task bar . Wat steps I can take to be able to still adjust the volume, but not hear the loud sound it makes when adjusting?

View 4 RepliesFor the first time I used headphones in Windows 10 Pro, and I found the normal Fn-F6 and Fn-F7 that adjust speaker volume do not work to adjust headphone volume - nor does the slider in the task tray. I can go into Control Panel and find the speakers and adjust them, and they are set as default. But it seems to me that in past versions (I came from Windows 7) when headphones were plugged in, the audio slider in task bar adjusted them - when headphones were not plugged in, it adjusted speaker volume. Do I have to go into Control Panel every time I want to tweak headphone volume? What am I missing?

Whenever i try to listen to anything on my computer using headphones, i can hear the music/background noise perfectly clear, but when the volume is High, sound stop for 2/3seconds, and couple of seconds sound - and again. Last night when I shut down, Windows indicated it was doing an update.Today (even after rebooting) I have no audio. Not even a sound icon in the system tray. I have a Lenovo G570 laptop. I use the built in speakers. When I go to the Control Panel those speakers are still shown as the default speakers.When I check Device Manager and search for Driver Updates I get a a message that the drivers are up to date.
The Conexant HD Audio Sound Driver was replace by High Definition Audio Device after i update to Windows 10 Home Version 1511 from 1011
Now if i want to plug my earphones to the left side of the computer where the audio jack socket is located the sound does not transfer to my earphones except i will change the default sound device from speakers to headphones.
How can i set it to automatically when i plugin my headphones/earphones/external speaker automatically transfer the sound to this device without changing the settings?
I just bought this sound card and installed drivers for Windows 10. (and a crapton of bloatware with UI of Win XP media player...)

I went into Properties, Notification area 'Customize', Turn System Icons On or Off, see that the Volume is turned off, but it's greyed out and I can't turn it on. View 9 RepliesI have an Acer ASpire laptop which after updating to windows 10, the screen displays the recycle bin, the cursor, the lower toolbar, it cannot connect to internet and the sound icon has an "X"..I pulled the battery to see if it would continue but to no avail but did get a notice saying " desktop not available etc ect"
I can right click on the screen and get context menu's to appear but nothing that I can get any further with.If I right click on the sreen and select "Display Settings" I get a message saying" This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action etc etc".
I was previously on Windows 7 and upgraded to 10 when the notifications came out last month. In W7 I was able to open the SOUND RECORDER program
and then record sounds from the video that was playing through the internet explorer I was using at that time. It did NOT matter which internet explorer I was using, be it IE or CHROME or FIREFOX, etc. I was previously able to open a video, for example youtube, and then record the sound that was playing into the SOUND RECORDER program, and then save that file on my desktop as a WMA.
I have not been able to find the SOUND RECORDER program in Windows 10. Is it gone? I've tried downloading a couple freebie programs that are similar to it, but they're not recording the sounds either. So now I'm thinking maybe Windows 10 bypassed or simply disregarded my sound card altogether, ? Is that a possibility?
I just installed the most recent windows 10 tech preview last night; but my sound blaster pci express sound card did not get installed correctly or something because i am getting no sound at all. I roll everything back to the old setup.

Some days its there and its fine but other days I cant seem to locate it and going in and manually disabling it and re-enabling it does nothing. The pictures below show my task-bar without an icon and the next picture shows that its on, I have switched it on and off and it does not appear.

I need to find this missing icon as when I am using SKYPE I have to turn up the volume to be able to hear the other peoples incoming audio ??
