To change the default Color of the Start Menu & Taskbar go to Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > Personalization > Color And Appearance then select Show Color Mixer. These 3 sliders will modify the solid color chosen above that also modifies the color of the Start Menu & Taskbar.
The Color Intensity slider only modifies the color of the window borders.

Color Intensity & Color Mixer functions (Sliders) have been depreciated and no longer have any effect of altering a chosen color for builds newer than 10130.

Dec 6, 2015I can place a new folder or custom shortcut in the correct start menu location (current user or all users) but it will not appear in the All apps list. If I go to the folder or shortcut and right-click Pin to Start it will appear as a tile in the start menu, but still will not show up in the All apps list. I think this behavior started with Version 1511 since it was working for me in the previous version.

Aug 28, 2015I have read everywhere on how to change the start menu width, however what I am asking for does not seem to be covered anywhere. When I open the "All Apps" section of the start menu to get to my installed programs I am unable to distinguish between some of them due to their width. (See attached screenshot)
What I want is to extend the width of the list of apps, NOT the width of the live tiles area. Seems everywhere covers how to change the width of the start menu but it only affects the live tiles area, not the app list.
I have searched through the registry and can't find anything there. Maybe I missed something?

Aug 16, 2015I have screwed up my default open folder with.. it all started by trying to set the default console to powershell, I have been messing around with registry settings but in the end I failed to set it up.. then I went and double clicked a folder to open it and discovered that the default double click option was "open with visual code", that is when I started to dig around in registry again.. and removed visual code from being the default but somehow ended up screwing even more my default open, I can now only open my folders by right clicking on them and open in a new window..
if I double click them I get the following error message "windows cannot access the specified device path or file you may not have appropriate permissions"

Aug 11, 2015My Start menu looks like this right now: I unpinned everything I don't want but now all my programs are showing. I don't remember it being like this originally so I think it must be something I've done when trying different things out.
What I want is to get it down to just the 3 apps at the top and not see any programs unless I click on All Apps.Is there any way to restore the Start menu to installation default so I can start over again, what registry bit I fiddled to cause this?
Apps :: Groove And Xbox Default Apps Won't Start Under Different Usernames
Nov 4, 2015I have 2 accounts on my machine. On my primary account, the Xbox app would not launch - no error given, just click and nothing happens. So I logged into Windows with my second account and the Xbox app launches with no problem. However, the Groove app won't launch under the second account, whereas it will under my primary account. I have tried the Powershell command to remove and reinstall the app and that has been 100% unsuccessful.
It appears to do nothing more than remove it from the start menu as it still says "installed" if I search for it in the Store. If I reboot, then the Store will allow me to reinstall. The same issue persists in not launching and providing no errors.
I am completely baffled as to why some apps work under one account and not the other - both accounts are admins. Is there something else I can do? I had originally upgraded from Windows 7, but after getting all kinds of BSOD errors, I did a complete wipe and fresh install. I've had these default app not launching errors - or lack of errors as none are shown - since then.
I have seen lots of people saying their Store won't launch or the Start menu doesn't work, but I have had no issues with that...

I have read about the "Pin to Start List" if you rightclick while holding shift. But this seems not to be working anymore!?!?! Start Menu Does Not Open Sometimes
Aug 12, 2015After starting my PC, sometimes my start menu does not open. And even if it did then the search function doesn't work.
Like if I open the start menu and type "a" then the start menu it goes full black with 4 blue dots at it's top moving left to right indicating that it is loading but it's stuck forever.
I am using Windows 10 Pro clean install with dual monitor setup.
