one of the pc's with Windows 10 on, when opening settings has a gray background instead of white and it seems i cannot alter this. change this background?
View 3 RepliesRecently I updated windows 10 and now whatever colour you choose when "show colour on start, taskbar, action centre and title bar" is on changes the title bar's colour as well. I don't want to disable this option because I like the start, taskbar and action centre being grey but I want the title bar to be white.
View 3 Replieswhile playing video (using any software media player, movies & tv, internet explorer youtube, google chrome youtube, vlan), all other inactive windows (any other windows) turn blank and white. I have updated video drivers, did not make a difference. I have then uninstalled all video card driver and used only default windows drivers, played video with same result. Therefore, I am sure it is windows. Tonight while trying to watch the bowl games, I typically watch video and browse/study using IE/Chrome. This is pretty typical for me, but the browser windows turning black and white is getting really annoying.

View 1 RepliesIn Windows 10, in Personalization > Background, I have red text that says, Some settings are managed by your organization, and all desktop background features are greyed out and inaccessible. What does this mean and how do I get the desktop background function back?
Please note: All other Personalization options are accessible, including: Colors, Lock screen, Themes (although they do not work once I go into them), and Start.
All I have for a desktop background, is the last wallpaper I used, which is now permanently locked as my desktop background.
I would like to select which pictures from a theme I would like to use for my background. To be more specific, I want to disable a few pictures. This used to be possible in Win 7/Win 8.1 by going to the Theme settings (in win 10: Personalize/Themes/Theme Settings), and clicking an icon called Desktop Background on the bottom of the page.
View 3 RepliesNavigating to Settings > Personalization > Themes > Theme Settings, we get to the Personalization window for Themes same as on Win 7. In the window it states "Click a theme to change the desktop background, color, and sounds all at once."
However, the icons normally at the bottom of the window to change those settings are missing. All I can do is save the theme (right click).

i can change my desktop background to any color provided, but white is not one of those colors. how do i change my background desktop color to white?
View 1 RepliesI've recently upgraded to Windows 10 and noticed that sometmes when I click with the right button on desktop or somewhere else, a white background appears for a split second before the menu loads. It actually happens frequently.
I recorded the problem. Watch in 0.25x or 0.5x playback to see it clearly: [URL] ....
Sometimes it loads just fine, sometimes not.
My graphics card is GeForce GTX 650 Ti. I've tried to reinstall drivers, but it didn't solve the problem.
All of the grey variants in 'Colors' make the Taskbar really dark/black, but ever since Windows 7 I've had a light grey taskbar so it feels like I've lost a very old and trusted friend.
I've tried Winaero Tweaker but I've only managed to get it to change my explorer accent colour - the taskbar stays stubbornly black.
About a week ago the calculator started opening and then closing instantly so I tried re-registering the windows apps following a guide which used the powershell and running a command. This unfortunately seems to have made the situation worse and I now get @Microsoft.windowsapps.calculator appearing when I search for the calculator in start and the store displays a white icon and does not open. I have attached screenshots of what happens below:

For Pinned items in Quick Access in Win10 Navigation pane, a gray Pin icon is displayed beside each item.
Can it be removed or made transparent with Reshacker?
Note: I wanted to keep the Quick access feature so that I can still drag and drop in Nav pane.
Is there any way to change the right click menu from white to black ? As you can see in the picture the right click menu is white and i cannot find the reg key to change the color to black. Or some thing i can install to change the color

In an earlier Ten Forums post there was software that did this called "Windows 8.1 start button changer" which is no longer available. The replacement software is called "CustomizerGod" but when I tried downloading it I received several virus warnings. Is there other software available that is "safe" to use?

I've just clean-installed windows 10 here, then updated everything possible. Now when I try to open the following system settings, nothing happens:
Apps & Features
Storage
Offline maps
Windows is digitally activated and scannow found no errors.
I've seen no one at all with similar problem, except that "settings wont open" issue which has been fixed.
I was just wondering if there was a way to customize the background of the screen where you are prompted to enter the background

View 1 RepliesSo yesterday I installed 10 on the laptop. It appears to work very well, even though it seems, and is, intrusive (privacy concerns) and for me a long learning curve to figure out how all the new 'apps' (old redesigned programs and UI) work.
Here's the problem:

I want/need to change the timing of the background pictures/theme and the colors of the window from the stock (forced upon me) settings, but the display does NOT show the controls in the bottom of the personalization area as they are shown in that tutorial (They were there in W7 and Vista, and in the tutorial above made in March).
I have tried different resolutions (none smaller available, currently at 1366x768, native), and only two font/display/text sizes I could find of 100% and 125%: The needed controls still don't show up.
The laptop is an ASUS G50VT - 5. Stock except for a 500GB Hybrid drive.
I like all the synchronization Windows 10 introduced, except for two things:
1. hide or unhide start menu. On some PCs it should be hidden, on some it shouldn't. But sync causes all PCs to have the same settings for this.
2. background! I get 'corrupted' background images if one of my PCs changes desktop and I log into another one. Reason? Different resolutions on the displays used. The original resolution is replicated; missing space is filled up with bars of parts of the original image
So... Is there a way I can keep everything synced as-is, except for these two options?
I have installed windows 10. Everything working fine. Just one thing. I cannot open the settings. When I click the settings it just giving a glimpse and then disappears. How do I solve this problem?
View 4 RepliesI recently upgraded my windows 7 ultimate copy to Win 10 pro (64 bit) and with the upgrade i lost the most beloved tweak that i was using earlier in Win 7. And that is the ability to have custom backgrounds on folders instead of plain white ones.
The Ave Folder actually works but only when the properties boxwindows is opens up for any folder. The properties box has the custom new tab called "folder background" and i think this is why it activates the feature for a brief time until i decide to close the box. Closing the properties windowox then disables it and i then lose my folder background.
I have recently upgraded to Windows 10 on my main work PC and for the desktop background I have a slideshow and I have the taskbar showing. I have an HTPC in the lounge which is running on Windows 8.1 (not upgrading due to losing WMC ) and for this PC I have a single background for the desktop and the taskbar set to auto-hide.
When I change the settings on one PC it automatically changes the settings on the other PC - the background changes and the taskbar changes to/from auto-hide etc... Not sure if anything else is changing as well!
The two PC's are not in a homegroup and are not on a network - they're connected to the same router (BT Home Hub), but don't show up in each others network within Windows.
As I've been writing, the only thing that comes to mind that is "connecting" the two PC's is the fact that I am logged in to each PC using the same Microsoft account. However, the pictures I am using on each computer are not on my OneDrive, so how is it changing things and more importantly how can I stop it from happening, short of signing in with different accounts - which I wouldn't have thought I would have to do?
When I try to use Picture option to select an image of my own for a Background nothing happens when I click on the Browse button. The Browse button works if I select Slideshow, but not for Picture.
View 3 RepliesToday when i booted up i noticed ive no desktop background, i can cycle through backgrounds and i can see borders changing color but my desktop stays black, ran sfc /scannow which it found/fixed errors but nothing to do with my issue, rebooted, ran ccleaner, still broken....
