I upgraded to windows 10 last night and today I have tried to open excel but it is not working, it simply flashes on the screen then disappears, there are no error messages and it happens if I try to open a file or just the program on its own. This is the main program I use.
View 3 RepliesW10 (64 bit Home) has been working OK on this laptop but recently I have been able to open the settings screen for only a micro-second. Having found people having the same problem I have tried running SFC several times, as suggested, but it says it found an issue it could not resolve.
Again following instructions on the forum I tried running DISM with an iso loaded and this hung at 40% for hours (overnight).
I do not understand what to look for in the log file, but there are several lines that mention an error. I attach the log file (zipped)....
Just purchased the following computer [URL] .... and have been experiencing quite a few errors already. In addition to many programs' icons being small and almost unreadable (seems to be due to the Ultra HD resolution), I've noticed that every time I open an Excel file, it not only opens that file, but it also opens a blank workbook as well. This has never happened to me on any previous computer or previous version of Excel and googling the issue has been futile thus far.
To be clear, I'm totally fine with Excel opening a blank workbook if I just click on the Excel shortcut on my taskbar, but I do NOT want Excel to open up a blank workbook when let's say I'm opening up a spreadsheet for a financial model.
I have installed windows 10. Everything working fine. Just one thing. I cannot open the settings. When I click the settings it just giving a glimpse and then disappears. How do I solve this problem?
View 4 RepliesI'm having a weird issue since i installed windows 10, After installing, drivers, apps, etc., suddenly after using the PC for a few days, after startup apps finish loading and everything, when i try to open any application (browser, explorer, something with uac prompt, anything..) The screen flashes and turns off for a second and then everything come back to normal, This is my 2nd fresh installation for windows 10, I thought there could be something wrong with the drivers, i double checked them, I even replaced all of the apps that i used to have! , spent lots of time to look for alternatives (Avira instead of Kaspersky, 7zip instead of WinRAR, etc.),
View 9 RepliesWindows 10 installed beautifully and seems to run fast on my Toshiba laptop but the screen flashes every 30 seconds. When it flashes it looks like a small window opens and closes immediately. Any dialogue box open is reset, and there is disk activity. 2 tasks pop up to the top of the list in Task Manager: dwm.exe and explorer.exe. It happens all the time, whether there are any applications open or not.
View 10 RepliesAfter installing Windows 10 my laptop screen is flashing during thw start up menu. Some of the icons are loaded, others are not. The screen flashes constantly. I have not attempted to go into safe mode yet. My laptop met all the requirements for an upgrage so I am frustrated todaay with this.

Loaded Windows 10 24 hours earlier, the system was okay until early in the evening after a reboot. Now all reboots are the same. Lucky enough at one point I was able to get on the internet, but I can't get to my settings to find a fix.

Yesterday, after getting infected with malware, I decided to freshly reinstall windows 10 on my computer. However, after reinstalling it, I noticed that my bootup was very slow. During the windows logo part of the bootup, the screen flashes once, and the loading circle of dots becomes slow and low quality. Afterwards, the screen turns black for ~40 seconds, and then I get to the login screen.. And sometimes, I get that issue after logging in.

I have recently installed Windows 10 on my desktop. I now find that most of my files are "read only" I have tried to deactivate this in properties for the various folders but it does not work. Other than trying to copy every file that is currently in use?

View 4 RepliesUpon start up of my PC it loads up then the screen goes blank, like its in sleep mode, no mouse nothing, if I turn the monitor on and off, the screen appears for a second or two then disappears again.
I tried restarting in safe to check drivers but it does exactly the same thing here. In safe mode however, under monitors Generic PNP Monitor has the Yellow Exclamation mark indicating an issue. I have tried uninstalling this and also my graphics drivers and it seemed to work for the first time. Next day I turned on my PC again and the same thing is happening. I have to constantly turn on and off my monitor so I can navigate to the relevant areas to uninstall drivers etc.
I have tried a Google search but everything I have read has said something about having a mouse pointer on a blank screen but I do not even have that.
My graphics are built in, not a separate card which the driver for this is labelled Intel HD(R) Graphics. Unfortunately I do not have access to another monitor to check to see if the monitor is faulty. Just to add, this just started randomly before a fresh Windows 10 install.

View 1 RepliesI'm having an issue, ever since I installed Windows 10(upgraded, then did a clean install), I've been having issues with Excel. I have Office 2013 and everytime I open an excel document, then close it when I'm done, it freezes. Only happens on excel though, Outlook and Word work fine(only other 2 programs I use). I've done the quick repair and the Online slower repair, along with uninstalling and reinstalling Office. None of these have worked. Is this some kind of bug with Windows 10 or is it just me?

How to setup a spreadsheet in Excel. This is my first attempt at making a spreadsheet. In this example how do I setup this spreadsheet so that I can keep a running total of columns C,D and E in column F if I keep adding new lines.
View 4 RepliesIn Windows 7 and 8, when I saved an Excel input.csv file to a master.csv file, it would just save.
Now in Windows 10, the Excel file opens up and has to be saved manually (file save as...).
Is there a way to get it to just save as it did in Windows 7 and 8, as opposed to having the file open up like that?

View 1 RepliesI am unable to type into Excel or any Windows Explorer field (eg, search bar) sometimes. I haven't been able to reproduce this error consistently, but the past few times that it did occur was when I opened an encrypted spreadsheet. The odd thing is that the Windows key still works (will open start menu) and I can type into Chrome, but nothing works in Excel or Windows Explorer. The only thing I can do is restart as unplugging the keyboard does not work.
More background: I had a previous Windows 10 installation and I don't think this error has ever occurred prior to the recent clean install of Windows 10 that I did.
