Customization :: Change Size Of Text Causes Logout

Oct 13, 2015

Under Display settings and Customize Your Display, there is an option called "Change the size of text, apps and other"
When I change this, it wants me to logout.

I generally want to change the size of text to get a better view/perspective on the app that I'm running. But, this thing always forces me to exit all my apps -- very inconvenient!

Apps :: After Creating New Account Store Disappeared

Oct 25, 2015

I was having issues in my original Windows Account where I was unable to use the search bar, windows button, or store, so I got to create a new account on my computer. I did, and the search bar and windows button now work. I copied my files from my old account to my new one, but I do not have the Windows 10 Store. When I try to download something, it says I need a new app: ms_windows_store.

Under This PC > OS (C:) > Users, I was able to see that under my new account, there are 6,000 less files even though I copied and pasted them all.

So my question is twofold, how do I get Windows 10 Store back, and when can I delete the files from my old account (I just doubled everything).

How To Logout Of OneDrive App (Synced Folder)

Nov 25, 2015

So I made the stupid mistake of logging in to OneDrive on the office computer (I'm a freelancer/independent contractor, so I don't always come here) and now I can't logout?

I've only synced the one folder related to the project I'm working on this office. Would it work if I signed in on my own laptop, would that make the login session on the office computer expire? What if some other employee needs to login on this computer?

Apps :: Administrator Account Works - App Store Has Disappeared From The Task Bar

Oct 31, 2015

I upgraded from Windows 7 to 10 in summer. Now the major one is: Windows 10 works fine in administrator account, but in the other user account I primarily use, most of the apps don't work (including store --Cortana and Edge are about the only ones that do. Clicking on the others does nothing, and the app store has disappeared from the task bar).

Orientation Resets To Portrait On Logout Or Reboot

Jul 3, 2015

I have my tablet set to portrait orientation, but if I log out or reboot it reverts to portrait, even if rotation lock is on. I assume this is because it's an 8" tablet which MS decided are meant to be used in portrait but surely if rotation lock is on then it should respect that setting?

Can't View / Change Account Info

Dec 3, 2015

I have a new HP laptop which has a new Windows 10 image on it. I was able to set up my Microsoft account on it, so I can log-in with it, but if I go to SETTINGS | ACCOUNTS | YOUR EMAIL AND ACCOUNTS, nothing ever shows - the animated graphic at the top (flying dots) continues forever and nothing is ever displayed.

My login id has admin rights, so I don't think it's not a permissions issue. Why I can't see/change the account information??

Change The Microsoft Account Associated With Logon?

Mar 5, 2016

So we setup a MS account for my daughter, using her email address, but accidentally put in my birthdate so it got created as an adult account. This means I can't add the account to my "Family" so I can setup parental controls. According to Microsoft, there is no way to change an adult account into a child account. The only thing I can do is delete the account and then wait 60 days before recreating it. This means that in the mean time she doesn't have a MS account to use to log on so I'm kind of screwed.

The only thing I came up with is to create a dummy MS account for her to use for 60 days until I can recreate it using her email account like it is now. Is that even possible? I would need to associate her current local account with the dummy account and then be able to change it to reassociate it with the new account once I recreate it after 60 days.

Accounts :: How To Change Email Associated With User Account

Nov 15, 2015

my issue is that I set up my Microsoft account on my Win10 laptop back when Win10 first released. At the time it was associated with an older email account that I have since changed to a new gmail account. I was able to go into my Microsoft account settings online and set the new email as an alias, as well as the primary for the account. My desktop (the system I am typing this on) is on this account with the new gmail address attached to the user account (as a Microsoft account).

My laptop, however, still shows my old email as the account name. I contacted Microsoft directly and they connected to my laptop through a remote connection to try and fix it, but they were unable to figure out how to change the account name.

I have since performed an in-place upgrade to refresh the Win10 install, which prompted for my Microsoft account credentials. I was able to connect successfully, but the account name is still stuck on my old email address. Under User settings in the control panel, there is no option to simply change account name like the local accounts do, and the OS is the home edition, so I have no access to the group policy editor settings. I have seen a few references to registry edits, but I'd rather avoid messing with that because I realize changing the account name might mess up directory addresses (since the 'user' directory is linked to account name).

Accounts :: Change Original Administrator Account

Feb 23, 2016

I have purchased a used Asus laptop that already has Win 10 installed on it from the original owner. All of the settings on the computer are linked to that owner's Microsoft account and administrator account. Is there a way for me to change the administrator information to my Microsoft account and email? I can log in using the old owner's password to access the administrator account, but I don't see any way to change the account to my information. If I create a new user account and make it an administrator account, when I log in using the new account, there is no access to any of the apps I need from the original account.

Installation :: Account Changed After Password Change

Dec 9, 2015

I've been using my original password for several months to log in to Windows. Yesterday I was prompted to change my password, so I did. Now, my desktop image has reverted to the default "window with smoke", most of my desktop icons have disappeared, a navigation app that normally runs on startup is not there, and the bottom toolbar looks different. Even my email app, Thunderbird, acts as if I had never used it and I had to set it up again.

It looks as if my account identity has gone back to a default "new windows 10 user" setup. How can I restore my old setup?

How To Change Environment Variables In Regular User Account

Nov 18, 2015

(The number of primitive bugs in version 1511 is just imagination-defying.)

Open Control Panel. Open User Accounts applet. On the left there's a link that says Change my environment variables.

Clicking on that link... does nothing (!!!). The link is simply dead.

What on Earth is going on??? How are we supposed to change environment variables in non-Administrator accounts now? This Change my environment variables link in User Accounts was provided specifically for that purpose. There's no other natural way to do it.

I know that there are workarounds for this (all ugly), but... WTH? Did they do even basic testing on this 1511 release???

P.S. Just confirmed that pre-1511 Windows 10 works normally in that regard. This damage was done specifically by 1511 update.

Windows Store Not Installed?

I recently installed windows 10 on my HP stream 7 and after some driver updates everything works fine except for the store: it's just not there.
