Start Menu Won't Open - Missing Bottom Right Icons
Jan 10, 2016So my laptop, which has been on Windows 10 for a while now, updated last night after I went to bed. So now the start menu won't open and I don't have the icons on the bottom right corner (time, wifi, etc.). I read several old posts about doing the "powershell" thing but it won't let me because it said I have to run it as an administrator on the console. So I'm stuck there because it's my laptop, wouldn't I automatically have admin rights on my own device?

Aug 5, 2015I have an AMD 6670 and I just upgraded to Windows 10. At first I couldn't set my resolution back to 1920x1080 but I downloaded the driver and now I'm able to. The issue is that when I set the resolution, it's like everything is stretched out. The taskbar is off the screen on the bottom and same with the icons on the top and sides of the screen. I can see the very top of the taskbar at the bottom, but not enough to click on start or choose any programs that I have open.

Aug 7, 2015I just upgraded to Win 10 on my Acer Aspire One netbook, but cannot get the bottom of the display to be visible. The start button/task bar is off screen, and I cannot find a way to fix it.
The native display of the netbook is 1024X600, and display was set at 1024X768 in Win 7, and worked fine. Now, even if I set the display resolution back to 1024X600, the icons just get bigger, and the bottom ones are mostly off screen.
I even tried 800X600, but that was just worse.
Without the start button and task bar, it is hard to try anything.
Task Bar Is Set To Auto Hide And Is At The Bottom Of The Screen
Aug 11, 2015Task bar is set to auto hide and is at the bottom of the screen. Everything works Ok until computer goes into sleep mode and when I wake it up the task bar will not reappear until I either reboot or open task manager and restart Windows Explorer. Everything then works until the computer next goes into sleep mode when I have to repeat the process. However, if I move the task bar to the left side of the screen it keeps working after being in sleep mode. I don't have to reboot or restart Windows Explorer like I do if it is at the bottom of the screen. It's quite an annoyance to have to restart Windows Explorer and it is also an annoyance trying to keep the task bar on the left of the screen since I had it placed at the bottom for so many years.

Feb 10, 2016Since installing Win10 I can't get 2003 Office Word to work. It won't make links for email and web addresses, the wrong toolbars come up again and again, and it generally doesn't work. I have tried with two different 2003 Office programmes, re-installing, but no luck.

Aug 30, 2015Upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. The Installation went ok but when it got to the desktop my screen kept blipping or stalling out, my icons at the bottom of my screen and on the desktop kept disappearing and reappearing, my ICloud is giving me some weird message about how I don't have the privileges to access the folder...oh, and I cant click on an of my folders either...Anywhere between 5 min to 25 min is how long it takes for my computer to finally Stabilize itself and then everything works fine....It seems like it is taking longer to Stabilize...My computer is fairly new...I bought it in June of 2014...It is an HP Envy 23 All in One.

Jul 31, 2015I've done some looking up on what the issue is, and I believe that it's something commonly referred to as "sticky corners". There is a few pixels space on the bottom and top of the screen (between both monitors) which does not allow mouse movement from one screen to the other. To get the mouse to the other screen, I need to drag the mouse down about a centimeter and then it moves across to the equal position on the other screen (not the very top, meaning that it's not a scaling issue). I drag windows around constantly, and they keep getting stuck in the top or bottom of the screen, and it's quite distracting.
As you see in the screenshot that I've attached, the small red line is where the mouse simply refuses to move across, regardless of the speed of the mouse.
This was apparently a feature in Windows 8.1 as well, which there was a solution for by messing around in the registry editor, however this is no longer the case in Windows 10 (the files which used to be edited are no longer there in 10).
How to disable these "sticky corners" ...

Jan 24, 2016I read of a possible fix and it said to click on Start and then go to Settings and then go to Personalize and then go to Start and click on " Use Full Start Screen". when I click on the start icon and right click it, I have to go to Control Panel to go to Settings and one of the options is Personalize but there are three choices below it and one of them does not say go to " Start" and then click Use Full Screen. I don't know if this is related or not, but over the same period of time recently, I get an email that I receive every couple of days and there is a link in the email. When I click on the link over the past few days, nothing happens.I have had Windows 10 for about three months and the PC is a Dell which is about three years old.

Oct 11, 2015I upgraded from Windows 8 to Windows 10 on my Toshiba Laptop (Satellite C55t Series - Touchscreen) and had to revert to former as I did not like the windows screen. The Title Bar, Toolbar and others did not have the usual color features.In other words, From Title Bar to Taskbar were all white/gray (or whatever it is). Having been so used to the features of Window 98 to Windows 8, I found it uncomfortable to use it.

Jul 30, 2015Got mine installed today and went rather smooth. No major problems but one tiny annoying issue. We did the upgrade on 4 machines and 3 don't have this problem. I want to add mail and cal to my lock screen and it is not a option on my machine. (PRO others are home) After a couple reboots I got mail to show in the System->Notifications&Actions section but it wasn't for a while and CAL still is not.Did some searching but everything returns "missing my get windows 10 icon"

Aug 2, 2015I'm using Windows 10 Pro. I installed the OS from the ISO file. There is one little bug though.
In the lock screen settings, in "choose an app to show detailed status", the place where I can add the apps for which I want detailed status to be shown like email, calendar, it is not showing. Instead, its showing "none". It means I cannot add an app for whose notifications I want to see in the lock screen.
Also, in "choose apps to show quick status", the only app that is shown is 'People'. No other app is shown.
Most Desktop App Icons Missing From Start Screen
Jun 17, 2015I'm currently running Build 10130. For some reason, when I view "All Apps" I have folders for my desktop apps, but nearly all of the icons for the apps themselves are missing.
I have tried the following solutions & none have fixed the problem:
SFC /scannow
DISM /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth (I've run both of those alternatively 3X in a row - based on another thread)
Deleted the icon cache in my user folder
Run the Windows Troubleshooter for Windows Update
Created a new local account & logged in.
Enabled the Administrator account & logged in.
Did a repair install of Build 10130
When I navigate to C:ProgramDataMicrosoftWindowsStart MenuPrograms I can see everything and it's all just fine. For some reason the icons simple refuse to appear on the start screen.
I've checked the permissions on those folders and they appear to be fine.
I've tried right clicking on a program and selecting "pin to start" and nothing happens.
I've checked C:UsersmynameAppDataRoamingMicrosoftWindowsStart MenuPrograms as well and it seems to be fine, but still nothing changes.
How is Windows 10 creating the Start screen icons? Is there a way to force it to rebuild everything?
Mouse Disappears Off Screen And Icons Missing?

When my computer comes alive from screen saver mode, sometimes though not always all the icons are missing. The task bar is there but clicking on any item there does nothing. It's like everything just seizes up.

Dec 20, 2015There is a feature missing with screen configuration under Windows 10 and new Amd drivers Crimson, even the last WHQL ones (15.12). The Amd setting do not have the screen configuration, no more.
The driver choose ( I guess) the screen number 1 by its connection type Hdmi vs the screen number 2 the vga one (by default the main screen, in Italian "schermo principale")
It's impossible to change that order . And it can be a problem because if the screen 1, a Panasonic plasma through its Hdmi-2 port), is turned off (not the stand-by) the screen 2 do not became the active screen and no login screen is displayed on start. Obviously when screen 1 is turned on the issue ends.
Can't Put Items On The Bottom Row Of Desktop
Dec 31, 2015When I try to place my recycle bin on the bottom row it just moves one row up. I didn't had this issue before.
I did a system restore and it was on the bottom row for a couple of seconds and suddenly it moved up.
I can place it on the bottom row if I change the text size to 100%, but that's too small. Is there any other way?
