I don't have the ability to print documents I open from my files or from e-mails. If I right click the only option that shows up is to "save as". I have tried to put the printer icon in my tool bar but it is dark and doesnt function.

View 4 RepliesHusband updated his laptop to Windows 10 several months ago. So far it's been good, and he likes it...that is until this morning. He opens the laptop...no internet connection. It shows our wifi network, but won't connect. He enters his password...says he needs to enter password for that device. Enter password from before Windows 10...no good. Using my laptop (Windows 7) to find fix. I've tried: Troublshoot network connection by right clicking. Right Click won't work...nothing happens. Maybe keyboard language is wrong...no settings button available to look at keyboard properties. Try connecting directly to router...won't make connection. We've rebooted the computer a couple of times, to no avail.
Our phones are connected, my laptop is connected, our chromecast is connected, so we know it's not the router. There is something up with his laptop.

"My Documents" has been correctly relocated from C: to E:. The C: drive was getting full. Using the PC, all is well.
The network is fine and my laptop sees the PC, and PC sees the laptop.
However, when I click my [Username] folder on the PC from the laptop, the folders I see are on the C: drive, not the E: drive.
How do I make my [Username] folder on drive E: accessible over the netork?
Other family members/usernames whose files are on the PC's C: drive exclusively have no problem accessing them from their laptops or phones.
The laptop is Win7 and the PC Win10 Pro. The phones are both Android and iOS.
I have a network that has 3 laptops running Win 10. 2 of the computers (haven't checked the third yet) indicate they are on the same network SSID. One computer can print from the printers on the network.
The second laptop had the same printers and was able to print to them prior to Win 10. Now the SSID is the same as the first computer yet it can't print nor can it see any printers oe devices on the network!
The print spooler chokes on both of my Windows 10 machines when trying to deal with certain pdf files. For instance when I tried to print [URL] ... via my browser (Chrome), it printed the first 6 pages, but the printer showed an error when it came to the seventh page. When I then tried to create another job just to print the seventh page, it just hung around in the print spool and nothing happened at the printer.
I tried this several times on two machines. It was also impossible either to cancel the job in the print queue manager or to stop the spooler in the services manager in order to manually clear the print queue, which meant that the only way I could clear the queue was to restart the machine. I got the same behaviour whether I was printing to my physical printer or to the MS pdf printer. I also got the same behaviour when I tried to print from a different browser (Edge). This is not the first time I have had a problem with an unprintable file like this in Windows 10.
I am using Word 2013 on my laptop. Windows 8 was operating system. Recently upgraded to Windows 10. When I save Word documents now, they are saved as Wordpad documents. (.xml files) Wordpad does not recommend some of the Word formatting and alters the documents.
How do I correct this? I want the save as Word documents, as I did in the past.
I've trying out the new preview, 10240. Everything works fine except for the default documents folder (and the same for Images). As my screenshots reveal, by default the documents and images folder are the ones with OneDrive. (My system is in Spanish, but it seems self-explanatory, I believe)
After some examination, I located the "Storage" section in the new settings window and I see that the default folder for Documents is OneDrive. However, after I set to "This PC (Drive C)" it doesn't do anything, as as soon as I close the window, the option reverts back to OneDrive.
I actually like and use OneDrive, and I had no problems with it with Win8.1. So I don't want to disable it.
there doesn't seem to be a way to print a standard 6x4 photo using the Windows print function for pictures. how to do this as it was possible on earlier versions of Windows.

For almost a week, I have been unable to change from one app to another by clicking on them on the Taskbar. To access a different app, I have to minimize all the apps I have open and then click on the one I want on the Taskbar.
I looked at the recent Windows updates and saw some updates to MS Office. I did a repair on MS Office but that did not fix anything. Since this involves all applications on the Taskbar, it would seem to be a Windows problem
In Win.7 you could modify the font for the windows, both size and font itself. Win 10 will not all me to modify size, which is stuck on 9pt, and there is no option shown to change the font to Times from Arial.
This means I have had to alter the scaling to 125% so that the icons on the taskbar are big enough, and the text on the windows readable. This, in turn, messes up the resolution on Skype and another program. How you can get the ability to change font and font size?
Windows Media Player is still in Windows 10. In Windows 7 and 8, it played a DVD movie. So, I pop in Lord of the Rings, and Windows 10 cannot play DVDs. It can read all the files, but does not have native support for playing a DVD movie with Windows Media Player or any built-in software.
Of course, I download VLC Media Player and watched it, but seriously Microsoft... Why? What is the legitimate reason for removing such a feature like that. It would have required no work to keep it.
I have a laptop running Windows 7 that is connected to a printer. I am connected to the internet using a WiFi connection. I have a homegroup called workgroup. My wife has a laptop running Windows 7, connects to the internet using the same WiFi modem and prints using the printer on my laptop.
I downloaded Windows 10 on to my Windows 7 laptop and all of a sudden my wife can't print anymore. Microsoft, you've done it again. How I hate this!
I fooled around with HomeGroup settings on the Windows 10 laptop and the system attributes on my wife's laptop and now I can see her computer on my Windows 10 system. But I cannot see the printer on my system from her laptop.
I tried to click on my compueter from her laptop and I get a request for username and password. I don't know what username and password to use. I gather from reading the forum that I should put the name of my laptop in the username but I don't know where to look for the password.
I cannot create a System Restore File/point. I have read instructions on setting the restore point but none are correct for 10. Screenshots
View 7 RepliesI was able to attach files using the combination of gmail and Windows 8. However, since I upgraded to Windows 10, I have been unable to attach the same files in gmail. The Attach files GUI opens, I select the file to attach, click OPEN, and the system goes back to the GUI without linking to the selected attachment. Double-clicking doesn't work, either. No attachment.
View 2 RepliesThis morning Microsoft sent that new "Service Pack" update out to my PC running Windows 10 Pro and now the mod used to make the windows title bar color change to anything than the white crap Microsoft uses will no longer work. I have tried twice to apply the color theme I had used before the update to make them colored again and it doesn't work. I even removed the mod and re did all the steps to make a new theme and still it doesn't work.
View 2 RepliesWhen I press/click on Start, and then type 'Power' for instance to get PowerShell, I want to right click and Run as administrator. Somehow that is gone. I can only Pin to Start. Did updates, reboots, etc. I cannot even click and drag icons from the Start menu - just has a red X. I had to make a shortcut on the desktop to run PowerShell as an admin. It works on another Windows 10 machine no issues.

The following things might have cause this: I changed my PCs name, I installed more ram, I created a local log in and there was an update just before this happened. I tried to use a restore point but the laptop said it failed. I have tried the powershell solution with no luck. I have tried creating a new user but it won't let me add a new user.

View 7 RepliesI have my own business. I pay CRA on line then I print off the receipt as I need a hard copy. Windows 7 it is easy as I open the pdf on my desk top and then right click on the document and the menu shows me print then I print.
Windows 10 I save the CRA receipt to my desk top, I open the pdf and then right click and all that appears is "Save as" nowhere can I find a print option or icon?
When I try to print from Edge, I get a blank preview block, and the printer produces a blank page.

I have an issue with the "Documents" location.
As I don't like the "big brother is watching you" spect of the automatically sinc with OneDrive and as I get a "Pro" version, I don't want to use OneDrive anymore (except the pro version for some few folders).
So I started to organise my documents in the folder: C:/Users/myname/Documents
But I can't put it in the "Quick Access" as there is already the Documents which are located in C:/Users/myname/OneDrive but which is empty for me...
I also hardly find my documents when I download a document, as the OneDrive folder is "dominant".
Some screens to explain my issue...
So I would like to "replace" the "Documents" OneDrive Folder shortcut by my "true" Documents Folder.
Is it possible ?
