I'm trying to delete a file on my ADMIN account with ADMIN rights the ONLY account on my goddamn PC and its telling me when i try to delete this folder to get permissions from the account I am on....
View 6 RepliesI want to delete the windows old folder in windows 10 as its hogging up quite a bit of space, only upgraded windows 8 to 10 a few days ago.
However it wont let me, I have tried disk cleanup and tried to delete the windows old folder, but it tells me I don't have permission to delete this folder, and if I try again it says that I need permission from SYSTEM to make changes to this folder.
I try to completely delete a folder from C:Program Files (x86), after I uninstalled the program it contained, but I get this message:
"You require permission from administrators to make changes to this folder"
But I am the administrator, no?
When i press Shift+Delete to delete any file, it doesn´t do anything except maybe 10 beeps, its the sound it makes for example when asking for something or some pop-up windows like that. Also when I try this, like at this moment, when writing this in Chrome (which is pretty hard, because of the following things), it does weird things like typing random numbers, deleting the text, skipping the like if I pressed the arrows or enter button, also it was going back in browsing, all by itself. It happens more after when I press Backspace or Delete.
I don´t know what is happening, can´t believe this is a Windows function i don´t know about or if I should be worried about my keyboard or maybe even a virus. (I am not using any downloaded antivirus).
I am running Office 2007, on W10. I have just added to a document, clicked to exit, confirmed save changes, then got this box.

View 5 RepliesI've tried instruction after instruction and cannot delete a file. It's from a programme called Solidworks, and is left in the programme file called 3ds Light.otf.
I've tried deleting in Safe mode
Using deleting/unlocking utlities File Assassin and Unlocker
Disabled protection of C drive
Used Security Task manager
So far nothing is working.
I've ran into these before on previous versions of Windows, usually a file that has too long of a name or so it says but basically is just a corrupted file and I use WinRAR rename the file and delete it. But this file in particular I cannot get rid of. It was originally a jpeg, and when I went to rename it for deletion the file then became a blank file, no extension just a letter I put for the name. The file cannot be found by anything it seems, even the command prompt method of deletion gives me the same message. "Could not find this item. Verify the location." Which is weird because the command prompt does show the file in the directory but gives me that error when I try to delete it.

I have already backed up and transferred all the files I wanted to keep from that old version and wish to delete that file and all that is in it. But it seems not to allow me to do that. I have tried numerous times with Admin privileges and it still will not allow be to delete.

This is quite dangerous as the Delete menu item on the context menu can sometimes be actuated accidentally, without me even knowing about it!

Cannot move, copy or delete folders in widows 10 file explorer. I get the message "cannot find item This is no longer located in F:video. Verify the item's location and try again." Does not matter which drive or which folder, this is always the result. I can however click on the folder, open it and move, copy or delete the files inside the folder. I am then stuck with empty folders all over my computer.
I have been using Windows 10 for a number of months without this issue, just stared happening this morning.
Any way to avoid having to get permissions to open folders or move things around? I am logged solely as Admin, but pc doesn't seem to care. Not a big deal, but just annoying.
View 1 RepliesI have a 1 TB SSD HDD with only my OS, Programs and Games on it, with another 1 TB (Mechanical) HDD installed for my Data (Documents, Pics, etc.). I did the upgrade option (not a clean install) and for some reason now, I can't save any documents to my DOCUMENTS folder without getting an error message:
You don't have permission to save in this location. Contact the administrator to obtain permission. Would you like to save in the Documents folder instead?
If I choose YES OR NO, nothing happens. I can only save it to my desktop.
I normally do a Clean install, but wanted to get my Serial by doing the upgrade first, so when I install it, I have my Activation Code that is legit. I also noticed, Windows 10 turned of my Ethernet Devices on it's own...but that's for another post!
I am having issues playing Mp3's off an external HD & get 'you do not have permission to access' file error.
I get same error when trying to delete file. It appears all folders in my music folder have same issue.
I have tried to update SECURITY tab within properties - it states EVERYONE has access & has FULL CONTROL.
I had an 8.1 installation I didn't want to upgrade yet because I have a whole bunch of games I'm concerned about compatibility issues with. I woke up just now, having left my computer on, to find that my computer is over halfway through "upgrading Windows". I didn't want this; I have coursework that needs doing right now. Is there any way to cancel this once it's started?

I have seen all the do not work fixes and to be honest getting frustrated, I have changed all permissions to administrator in all boxes checked.

I have looked and looked for where to fix this and cannot find where to do this. Everything worked fine in 8.1 before the upgrade. It tells me I need administrative permission to save the photo, etc., but how do I give myself this permission?
