When i try to open pinned items from the explorer icon in the taskbar windows command processor opens with UAC and asks if the app? may do changes to the system..If i click yes or no nothing happens; i think of a setting somewhere but until now i have not found out..
View 1 RepliesI have recently upgraded from Windows 8.1 Pro to Windows 10 Pro and everything was fine then. But recently I am experiencing an issue which is "Pinned items and Jump List are not displayed in File Explorer in both Taskbar and Start Menu". Pinned items and Jump Lists are displayed for other programs in Taskbar as usual but the issue is only with File Explorer. I have restarted the PC but still the problem persists and I have also disabled Cortana.
System Specs:
CPU - Intel Core 2 Duo
Motherboard - Gigabyte (G31M-ES2L)
RAM - 4 GB
Graphics Card - NVIDIA GTX 560 (2 GB)
OS - Windows 10 Pro (64 bit)

View 2 RepliesI have a problem opening folders that i pinned down in the taskbar.
When I click a folder nothing happens (with the exception of "this PC"/"Your PC", in which case it actually opens what it should open)
This problem is limited to Windows Explorer, pinned items for Chrome, Steam and Mozilla Thunderbird work just fine.
I'd been using this method on Windows 7: Windows Explorer Taskbar Icon - Change Open To Target And I take it that this is how it's done in 8: File Explorer Taskbar Icon - Change Open To Target.Will the latter tutorial also work here in 10?

But, when you go to "Save as" dialog box, Recent Folders inexplicably disappears from Quick Access:
Why is that? How can I fix it so that "Save as" and "Open" show Recent Folders in Quick Access in navigation pane?
I've had windows 10 since November and just today it's been playing up. None of the apps open - they display a message "element not found" for explorer exe or for other things like chrome, ms word you click on it and nothing happens. Can't even turn off the computer (start > turn off just does nothing) I've tried pressing the power button on my PC but that just seems to put it into sleep mode and not properly restart it.

EDIT: Also, double clicking folders opens a new window as well.
I use my computer in a business. For one of our companies I have to use Internet explorer. When I go to the form I want it takes me to the edge browser for some reason and it not typeable. The other two computers in our office work just fine.
View 4 RepliesI think after one of the accumulative updates Windows Explorer started to open MSN in my default browser. This is very annoying.
I've tested my theory by restarting Windows Explorer from the task manager. Of course restarting the computer. Disable Automatic startup of Microsoft OneDrive. I scanned my System with Malwarebytes, nothing was found.
New in Windows 10 the file explorer opens in documents folder no matter which folder is clicked on. Open with in context works ok. Windows 10 is an update of Windows 8.1.

In addition, all pinned items in the menu that appears when you right click on the file explorer disappeared as well.

every time I double-click a folder in Windows Explorer, it opens in a new window. I know there have been problems on this in earlier versions of Windows.The ONLY time a folder opens in a new window, is when the folder is located in the PICTURES folder. On some occurrences, the folder I'm clicking is opening twice.
Another strange thing I noticed, is when I delete something. When I used to delete something, the folder would automatically update and remove the file without me needing to do anything. Where you open your jump list in File Explorer and then click on something like your Videos or Downloads Folder to have the jump list close like normal, but then nothing open? I also noticed that when I right click on the start button, I can't get any of the options on the menu to launch either.

View 4 RepliesOne of my computers is currently running Windows 10 Pro Version 1511 build 10586.71 and I've recently been having a very strange problem: Despite the fact that all my autoplay options for DVD's and Blu-ray's are set to "Do nothing" almost every time I insert a DVD or Blu-ray disc an Explorer window opens to the DVD drive, the disc is ejected and a dialog that says "Insert disc" appears. If I'm persistent enough and insert it 15 or 20 times it'll stop and the disc isn't ejected and I can open it with either VLC or another software player. This problem is not just a single disc but multiple DVD and blue-ray movies, the discs are clean and play just fine in other Windows 7 and 10 computers as well as standalone Blu-Ray players.
I've looked around and I only found one thread with one other person complaining about this problem (from back in September 2015) and he said it went away after some Windows updates.
How do I add the keyboard shortcut command "ctrl+F" to the Internet Explorer context menu? I know where I need to go in the registry to add an item to the context menu of Internet Explorer, but I don't know how to add a keyboard shortcut.

In Windows 10, if you open File Explorer, you can drag and drop the pinned folders under the Quick Access header on the left. When you right click File Explorer icon pinned to taskbar, the items will be in the same order as established in the Quick Access heading in File Explorer.
When I open File Explorer there are a number of items listed in the left pane. Is there a way to remove some of them that I do not use like Videos and Music? Also at the bottom, after Network is Homegroup. I do not use Homegroup. Can I delete it from this list? I have other computers that do not list Homegroup so why does this one list it?
View 5 RepliesSince Windows 10 preview, I've had really weird Explorer behavior. Sometimes, when I click a directory, Explorer will open two instances of it in two new windows, in addition to the already-open window that I was clicking from. This happens at random with different folders, usually ones that are sub-folders of folders on the desktop.
There's no rhyme or reason, and I'm not accidentally double-clicking. I have my folder options set to single-click open and windows open in the same window. I've also reset my folder options and this problem has not changed.
I've even reset the computer and still experience this issue, so it's not a lingering bug from the preview, I don't think. I'm not on the preview any more.
I have upgraded an older Acer extensa 5220 that came with windows vista pre installed and it runs really well but I cant upgrade .a later model Toshiba lap top because the processor is not supported it came with windows 7 pre installed. I thought if it ran windows 7 it could be upgraded ...

View 7 RepliesI recently reinstalled Windows 10 on my laptop using my install media created using the creator on the website. There were no issues with my CPU capping or anything like that prior to the new install.
So ive just realised my computer performing slow so i decided to check task manager and i see my CPU seems to be capping at 0.99 GHZ. I have checked my power options and ensured that the minimum and maximum processor states are at 100% on High Performance mode. My CPU normally runs at over 2.4 ghz. When i restarted my computer it was 2.4 ghz but soon after capped to 0.99ghz. I do not know why. I have taken some screenshots.

Have a Dell Inspiron 2200, was running Xp, loaded Windows Starter, run ok, tried to upgrade to Windows 10. Got error message "PC's Processor doesn't support a critical feature (NX)".

I usually avoid this issue by restarting the system twice. Another problem is the computer is no longer able to go into the sleep mode.
