I use my computer in a business. For one of our companies I have to use Internet explorer. When I go to the form I want it takes me to the edge browser for some reason and it not typeable. The other two computers in our office work just fine.
every time I double-click a folder in Windows Explorer, it opens in a new window. I know there have been problems on this in earlier versions of Windows. The ONLY time a folder opens in a new window, is when the folder is located in the PICTURES folder. On some occurrences, the folder I'm clicking is opening twice.
Another strange thing I noticed, is when I delete something. When I used to delete something, the folder would automatically update and remove the file without me needing to do anything. Now, I have to refresh the folder I'm in to actually be able to see the picture I deleted gone.Making sure the registry key of HKCRFolder is empty.Running the sfc /scannow command in an elevated command promptChecking the Explorer options for opening a folder in the same window or a different one on and off.Checking the double-click and single-click options on and off.Making sure I do not have this "Vault" program that everyone is talking about... I've had windows 10 since November and just today it's been playing up. None of the apps open - they display a message "element not found" for explorer exe or for other things like chrome, ms word you click on it and nothing happens. Can't even turn off the computer (start > turn off just does nothing) I've tried pressing the power button on my PC but that just seems to put it into sleep mode and not properly restart it.
So I upgraded to Win 10 and so far I like it, but a problem which I find annoying:
Whenever I open file explorer the window tends to move from where I placed it. What I mean is I place the window directly in the center, as I like it. When I open it again, it will be displayed at the very top of the screen. When I close it and open it again it will be displayed at the bottom of the screen on the left. The window seems to change places every time it is opened.
Nothing major, but I am OCD about keeping windows centered and organized haha so is there a way to keep the window in one spot? Is this a bug or is this supposed to happen?
When I right-click on a folder in the Navigation pane (that's the far-left window in File Explorer, right?), I see "Expand" right at the top of the drop-down box. However, it is grayed out.
If I go to File>Change Folder and Search Options, I can turn on Open Each Folder in The Same Window, but it doesn't actually work.
As things stand, if I want to move a file from one folder to another, I have to open a separate window. In all previous versions of Windows, that wasn't necessary, because you could expand all folders right in the navigation pane.
I have Windows 10..Just recently I have found that when I open a folder on my desktop which opens in maximized mode, and then go ahead and click to restore the window to a smaller size, instead of doing so, the window restores to the width of the three buttons at the top (minimize, restore, close) and then the file explorer window crashes and freezes for a few seconds, my screen goes black for a few seconds, then I am returned to the desktop, where the window has closed. Is this a sign of hard drive corruption?
Before using 8.1 , when wanting to upload a certain file to a website or where ever , There is a pop up windows that let's you search to file to upload , after clicking the button on that particular website, now in Win 10 , when clicking the button the file search popup (Open dialog box) windows fails to appear and so cannot search and upload the files.
I don't know if this is related to Win10, or an issue that existed with my Win8.1 before. I just noticed it after upgrading yesterday.
So, my firewall just prompted me about an outbound connection attempt by a file (named C:WindowsSystem32SIHClient.exe) and I didn't recognize it. I found it using explorer, and it's unsigned; so I visited VirusTotal.com and tried to upload it... but from the file upload browse box in Chrome I can't see the file! Even typing *.* and open doesn't remove the "filter" and reveal the file. (I finally ended up copying it to desktop and uploading from there, but still don't know what the file does.)
I thought that Explorer's "File View Options" (show hidden files, do not hide operating system files, etc.) were used throughout Windows once applied. Am I wrong? Should I suspect a virus or is this normal? What gives?
When I am typing text into just about any program, frequently and annoyingly, when I type a t, a new window opens, and never the same one. I have to click on my previous window and put the curser back where I was. It happened in Win 7 and still in Win 10. How do I stop this?
I cannot seem to delete files when I'm doing a regular search in windows. I can go to any folder and delete files, but I when I see the same files in a search result, pressing del does nothing and when I right click, I have no option to delete them like I do when I'm just viewing a folder. Am I missing something completely obvious here? Is this really a feature or a bug or what?
I think after one of the accumulative updates Windows Explorer started to open MSN in my default browser. This is very annoying.
I've tested my theory by restarting Windows Explorer from the task manager. Of course restarting the computer. Disable Automatic startup of Microsoft OneDrive. I scanned my System with Malwarebytes, nothing was found.
When i try to open pinned items from the explorer icon in the taskbar windows command processor opens with UAC and asks if the app? may do changes to the system..If i click yes or no nothing happens; i think of a setting somewhere but until now i have not found out..
One of my computers is currently running Windows 10 Pro Version 1511 build 10586.71 and I've recently been having a very strange problem: Despite the fact that all my autoplay options for DVD's and Blu-ray's are set to "Do nothing" almost every time I insert a DVD or Blu-ray disc an Explorer window opens to the DVD drive, the disc is ejected and a dialog that says "Insert disc" appears. If I'm persistent enough and insert it 15 or 20 times it'll stop and the disc isn't ejected and I can open it with either VLC or another software player. This problem is not just a single disc but multiple DVD and blue-ray movies, the discs are clean and play just fine in other Windows 7 and 10 computers as well as standalone Blu-Ray players.
I've looked around and I only found one thread with one other person complaining about this problem (from back in September 2015) and he said it went away after some Windows updates.
when I open a folder to browse the files and say I want to copy/delete a particular file, then the confirmation dialog box is hiding behind the main explorer window, so I have to minimize explorer in order to click ok or the appropriate action that is needed.
Under the Network tab of File Explorer, I can see three entries, one of which is my router (with attached Hard Drive) and two computers, each running Windows 10. When I expand the router entry, I can see my hard drive files. I can also see my Users icons when I expand one of the computer's tabs. However, when I click on the other computer's name to search for users, all I see is a message that "This folder is empty". In fact, the folder is not empty, as there are two users on the computer. How I can get this computer to show users, etc.?
Is it possible to move the info pane to the bottom of Explorer windows, similar to Windows 7? Seems easier to read for music files especially, rather than having long word wrapping for artist/album titles and so on.
Using Win10 Pro x64. I would like to disable windows showing .zip files in explorer as a folder...When you highlight it the contents inside the .zip are shown in the right pane view. I've scoured the net and found ways for Win7(which I did disable .zip folders on my other Win7 machine) and Vista, perhaps 8 too but I don't want to risk trying a method for older versions of windows. Any solution/reg hack or whatever to disable .zip folder?
