I am having an issue after using Windows 10
Before using 8.1 , when wanting to upload a certain file to a website or where ever , There is a pop up windows that let's you search to file to upload , after clicking the button on that particular website, now in Win 10 , when clicking the button the file search popup (Open dialog box) windows fails to appear and so cannot search and upload the files.
I don't know if this is related to Win10, or an issue that existed with my Win8.1 before. I just noticed it after upgrading yesterday.
So, my firewall just prompted me about an outbound connection attempt by a file (named C:WindowsSystem32SIHClient.exe) and I didn't recognize it. I found it using explorer, and it's unsigned; so I visited VirusTotal.com and tried to upload it... but from the file upload browse box in Chrome I can't see the file! Even typing *.* and open doesn't remove the "filter" and reveal the file. (I finally ended up copying it to desktop and uploading from there, but still don't know what the file does.)
I thought that Explorer's "File View Options" (show hidden files, do not hide operating system files, etc.) were used throughout Windows once applied. Am I wrong? Should I suspect a virus or is this normal? What gives?
I need to automate a webpage credential form.
I am building a kiosk setup for my workplace and I am running into an obstacle that I cannot seem to overcome.
What I have is a set of machines that pulls feeds from a set of cameras that are used to watch blind spots. These feeds are displayed in a web page that works best in Mozilla Firefox. I have gotten the computer to log on with its domain account on it's own and set a task to open Mozilla upon logon, but the part where my difficulty starts is when the page loads a pop-up window asking for credentials for the cameras.
I need to automate the login process for these machines so that the people monitoring them do not have to do anything to get the machine displaying the feeds because I plan on preventing input from a keyboard or mouse.
I've heard of scripting, but I do not know how to write nor implement a script.
when I open a folder to browse the files and say I want to copy/delete a particular file, then the confirmation dialog box is hiding behind the main explorer window, so I have to minimize explorer in order to click ok or the appropriate action that is needed.
View 6 RepliesAt some point in the last couple of weeks the Send To/Mail Recipient function has stopped working. When I select a file and do the send to, Windows starts thinking, the explorer window that I have selected this from stops taking input and then eventually, with no error messages, the explorer window closes and desktop explorer resets.
My Default mail client is Outlook 2013 (15.0.4745.1000)
I have Win10Pro (upgraded in place from Win8.1Pro) and every time I click on a link in an email, I get the "How Do You Want To Open This" dialog box. I always click on Internet Explorer and I always check the box "Always use this app" but I still get this dialog popping up EVERY time I click on a link.

View 2 RepliesEdge is a great browser! However one thing I really miss from IE is having my favorites sidebar always visible at all times. With Edge you have to select it EACH TIME and pin it to the window display. This becomes a real pain and seems unnecessary. Is it possible to configure the favorite's sidebar to be always on by default? A real extra would be to have it on the left hand side again like IE which seemed to have this facility/capability just right. The horizontal favorites across the top is useless because so few are visible. (No luck with other forums) else I'm going back to IE.

View 1 RepliesWhenever I start to type in the search field, I never get to finish typing because explorer opens a new window right away after the first character.
EDIT: Also, double clicking folders opens a new window as well.
So I upgraded to Win 10 and so far I like it, but a problem which I find annoying:
Whenever I open file explorer the window tends to move from where I placed it. What I mean is I place the window directly in the center, as I like it. When I open it again, it will be displayed at the very top of the screen. When I close it and open it again it will be displayed at the bottom of the screen on the left. The window seems to change places every time it is opened.
Nothing major, but I am OCD about keeping windows centered and organized haha so is there a way to keep the window in one spot? Is this a bug or is this supposed to happen?
When I right-click on a folder in the Navigation pane (that's the far-left window in File Explorer, right?), I see "Expand" right at the top of the drop-down box. However, it is grayed out.
If I go to File>Change Folder and Search Options, I can turn on Open Each Folder in The Same Window, but it doesn't actually work.
As things stand, if I want to move a file from one folder to another, I have to open a separate window. In all previous versions of Windows, that wasn't necessary, because you could expand all folders right in the navigation pane.
I have Windows 10..Just recently I have found that when I open a folder on my desktop which opens in maximized mode, and then go ahead and click to restore the window to a smaller size, instead of doing so, the window restores to the width of the three buttons at the top (minimize, restore, close) and then the file explorer window crashes and freezes for a few seconds, my screen goes black for a few seconds, then I am returned to the desktop, where the window has closed.Is this a sign of hard drive corruption?

I can't find a way to do this in Edge - in general, the number of user-adjustable settings seems to be MUCH smaller in Edge. Is there a way?

View 1 RepliesWindows 10. If I grab a window to move it there is a popup overlay that appears near where I've clicked which seems to intend to make it easy to snap to the sides of the monitor. Usually I don't want to snap a window I'm dragging to one of these areas and usually this popup is where I want to drag the window and is getting in the way and preventing me from positioning windows where I want.
I've attempted to turn off "snap" or "aerosnap" in the System>Multitasking area, however if I turn off snap completely it prevents the shortcut keys (windows/arrow keys) from working correctly which I use a lot. If I disable snap completely it still does not disable this overlay popup as per the image.
I cannot use the Microsoft print to pdf feature on my Lenovo laptop from the Windows 10 Home Edge browser. The print screen shows a blank preview. Print to pdf does work on the laptop from any other app such as Word, OneNote, etc.
I can print to pdf from Edge on my desktop running the same version of Windows 10 and Edge.
I have completely uninstalled the print to pdf feature on the laptop, all the way to uninstalling the print server drivers and disabling the feature in the Windows 10 installation. And then enabling and reinstalling it. I still cannot print to a pdf file from Edge on the laptop. It is not a print problem, as this feature does work on all other apps/programs.
up until last night, I've been using iexplorer instead of the new Edge browser because the latter does not have the options for ignoring font size and fonts that were in the IE settings- my eyes are old and can't read the small fonts and font-sizes that seem typical in many web-sites.But this morning, IExplorer no longer works: I get the following error. This application was unable to start correctly 0x000018. Click Ok to close.My first thought was to re-install IExplorer, but I get a message when I tried that IExplorer cannot be installed on Windows 10.
View 7 RepliesSo whenever I want to attach a file to an email for instance and I go to browse thru Windows Explorer, it literally will just sit there "We're Working On It" and it takes a few moments to come up. What could be causing this? I have 2 256GB SSD's so I hope they're not on their way out.
View 5 RepliesI managed to see my friends Windows 10, Home edition, manage to get another problem now.
I did try to change the default browser i.e. change Windows Edge to Internet explorer.
However when I clicked on change browser, internet explorer was chosen, nothing seem to have changed, all I seen was edge browser.
There was no IE11 in the open All Apps.
When I went to Microsoft webpage to download internet explorer 11 a message said I have the latest Internet explorer installed.... still cant get internet explorer to become default web browser.
When I first upgraded IE was OK but for some unknown it has become very slow.
View 5 RepliesI successfully installed 14257; however, I have nothing but problems with it. I cannot get Internet explorer to work. It freezes up, cannot use the back or forward arrow, cannot change addresses, and at one time I received an error message saying something about a Microsoft Visual C++ runtime error message. I looked in my installed application files, Visual C++ is there, I ran a 'repair' on it, and the repair reported it installed without problems. I also cannot open most of the windows applications (Edge, Feedback, etc) then I cannot open any applications as the 'window' button freezes up. I have been able to run sfc /scannow, which reports no issues found and all system files are intact. I am destined to scrap the insider preview on this computer. It works on my laptop but the laptop is too slow and cumbersome to use. while Internet explorer will not work, it does open and I can view web pages but only those that are already on MSN (my home page). I cannot resize IE, nor can I move it anywhere else on the desktop.
Update: I went to Microsoft, downloaded Visual Studio C++ for Windows 10 that didn't get installed. The install seems to have corrected my problems. I can now open IE, EDGE, Feedback, and my start button works again.
I have 1 desktop and 2 All In Ones which I am trying to configure to W10. I just changed the desktop to IE using the switch under the three dots where it says open with IE. I tried to do the same with this AIO and that switch doesn't work. I attempted to reset the default from Edge to IE but I can't find a IE default.
