URL...How do I remove the "Audio Contol" label and just show the icons of the programs? In windows 7 I could just click and drag, and it stayed through my first windows 10 install, but I reinstalled today to fix a bug and now I can't accomplish this.

I have this slight problem: the ''search the web'' toolbar never seems to go away, it's stuck in the upper part of my screen:
how I can remove it from there once and for all?
I updated a few machines from 10240 to 10586 (upgrade).
I usually like to have my desktop icons on the toolbar instead of the screen (like to see full theme).
Now the funny thing is that if I decide to show desktop on toolbar sometimes removable drives and even all hard drives will show on desktop toolbar but not on screen.
Here is a pic showing that removable drive is not on desktop.
Now look. If I set desktop to toolbar. Removable drive is there. (Orange circle around it) Some users see all their drives (Fixed and removable) on desktop toolbar but not on screen.
I can no longer view my desktop and the icons on my toolbar are missing (Edge, Chrome, Word, etc.). When I reboot my computer, I can see my desktop wallpaper in the background, but there are no icons/files on it, and the windows apps are up front and center, which I cannot move or minimize (Screenshot below). Even when I have windows/applications open, the icons do not appear in the toolbar. How restore my desktop and icons to the way they used to be?
View 3 Replieswhen you click a link in a toolbar that it updates the Date Modified field. While not important in itself, the side-effect is it makes the toolbar link get included with the next backup run.
I've had these personalised toolbars sitting in the taskbar since Windows 7 without this happening before.
I have this weird taskbar/toolbar on my 2nd monitor it just gets in the way and can't find any kind of setting to deal with it.
View 2 RepliesWin10 has just updated and I now cannot access my old desktop profile.
In addition, all my regular programs that were pinned to the toolbar have disappeared as well as their listing in 'All Apps' unless they are MS progs. So Mozilla Thunderbird and Firefox are not there, I started them from the program folders and clicked to 'pin to toolbar' but when I close them they do not stay pinned.
When I try to click into This PCDesktop an error box appears saying:-
Location is not available
C:UsersAdministratorDesktop is not available
Access is denied
I would like to know how the person on the Win10 commercial got the purple toolbar? I cant change anything and there is absolutely nothing I like about it!!! I tried to uninstall the whole thing it wont let me. My dad got sick and passed not 2wks after installing win 10 so now I cant get rid of it because running my laptop wasnt a concern. I cant stand Win10, edge. The toolbar is overbearing and useless!!! Cant get my yahoo toolbar with all my stuff on it, that I can close when I want to and times I do. How do I get rid of Win10/Edge?

View 2 RepliesI have a Dell Inspiron N5110 that I just upgraded to Windows 10 yesterday. It's been working mostly without a hitch, but I've run into the dreaded "constant refresh" problem with the desktop and toolbar. It happens maybe every minute or so. I can use the computer just fine for the most part, but when I'm gaming, the refresh will cause the game to minimize and return me to the desktop, which is extremely annoying. I haven't tried to turn the internet off yet to see if the problem persists, but I'm sure it wouldn't.

View 2 RepliesI went to customize the bar but when I clicked on "Customize Quick Access Toolbar" nothing happens. All I can do is add or delete the six options that is presented. I previously customized it and used that a lot! It is a deal breaker for me. Any work around or should a buy CD and reinstall 8.1 which came on the machine?

View 2 RepliesSince installing Win10, I have not been able to order links in the groups on my toolbar in a non-alphabetical order, ie, in a preferred order that doesn't happen to be alphabetical. When I rearrange them, the next time I open the group, they return to alpha sort.
View 1 RepliesI am connected to the internet, but in the toolbar it says Not Connected and Connections are available.
I am referring this to the Wifi Icon on the Bottom Right Corner near the Clock (Notification Area). There is no yellow asterix and I am properly connected to the internet. When I click this Wifi Icon , a window pops up and on its top it shows my ssid and below it shows connected.

I have already changed my Wifi adapter - previously it was Wayona and now I am using Prolink. Both works well.
Fast Stone Image Viewer is good example. Text on left are my files it relates to file explorer. They are tiny. Toolbar with icons runs along the top. Icons are tiny The pictures can be sized to any size as usual
View 2 RepliesI prefer to use the toolbar for multiple tabs, each with several links to launch programs. In Win7, I was able to arrange the order to my preferences, the most used programs at the top. Since I updated to Win10, some tabs are still in non-alpha order, and some not. If I rearrange them to my preference, the next time I open the toolbar tab, they are back to alpha order. How to arrange in non-alpha order?

I am now offered a login page with a demand for a password which I do not have and which I am not allowed change without a USB flash drive which I don't have. I now have no toolbar with which to access other sites or programmes and am having to write this post on a different laptop.
View 1 RepliesI upgraded to Windows 10 today and nothing works. The toolbar is perpetually frozen and can't be used for anything. Alt tab and Ctrl-Alt-Del only work occasionally. My keyboard and mouse just fail randomly and I have to plug them in and out to get them working again. Search function doesn't work. I haven't been able to get any Windows 10 programs to work. I can't even revert back to Windows 7 since I can't access settings due to the toolbar being frozen, and trying to access it from My PC causes my computer to freeze.
At this point I'm really just looking for a way to revert back to windows 7.
Shortly after I finished writing this post Chrome stopped working too so I'm on mobile now.
I managed to change the search engine to Google in the new Win10 search located in the menu and also in Edge. However, the little address toolbar, that can be added to the taskbar by putting a checkmark in the address toolbar after right clicking on the taskbar and choosing toolbars has suddenly switched to Bing as the search engine. I would love to have this set at Google as it always was. I find this toolbar so much more convenient than the one that came with the new win10 menu. I have already turned off Cortana over there.
View 3 RepliesWindows 10 always keeps putting back the drop shadow for the label under the desktop icons. I go into System -> Advanced System Settings -> Performance and uncheck "Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop". Click apply. If I do this at after logging off the shadows disappear. However at some random point in time a few minutes after it just puts them back on.
View 9 RepliesI have a Lenovo Thinkpad Edge with an Intel I5 processor, 64 bit with no hardware upgrades (stock). I had accidentally stepped on the screen (fell off my lap and then crunch) which was mangled beyond repair, so I have been using it similar to a tower, with a VGA and/or HDMI connected monitor (my HDMI cable went bad, I picked up a new cable but hadn't hooked it up to the second monitor. I started my free upgrade from Windows 7 Home Premium to 10 last night. I woke up to the black screen/mouse pointer issue which is what brought me to this thread. I tried the recommended fix:
1. Hit ctrl, type in password and enter
2. Win Key + P + Down Arrow. (Win Key + P only seems to do the same thing)
This brought up options to
1. Disconnect projector (Tried this and lost connection to the VGA even after reboot)
2. Duplicate (Screen is still black with mouse cursor, but I saw a little bit of red and blue pixels at the bottom where the task bar should be until I disconnected and re-connected the VGA, then it was back to black screen and cursor)
3. Extend (still black screen and cursor)
4. Connect Projector (still black screen and cursor)
I'm not sure what to do. I must have some OS installed, because I am able to also perform these operations from my USB Keyboard/Mouse. I'm just not sure how to get Windows back on my VGA connection (I haven't tried HDMI because I did not have it connected when I ran the update.) I thought Duplicate displays would do the trick, but apparently not. For as beat up as the laptop is on the outside, the hardware performs fine. I also have a 2nd laptop (work laptop, also a Lenovo W541) that I can use if any solution involves downloading something bootable.
