Touchpad Does Not Disable Automatically When USB Mouse Is Used

Feb 3, 2016

Prior to the windows 10 upgrade I had my mouse settings such that when a USB mouse was plugged in the touchpad was disabled. In window 10, the functionality is still available however now I have to manually change the settings each time I turn on my laptop.

Touchpad Scrolling Function Turns Off Automatically After Every Reboot

Jul 29, 2015

I've installed Windows 10 on two different HP Pavilion laptops (dv5, g6), and the problem is that the scrolling function turns off automatically (will be unchecked) after every reboot. Tried with different versions of Synaptic driver, the newest and an older one, it's all the same.

Drivers/Hardware :: Can't Disable Touchpad

Sep 28, 2015

I do not like the touch pad. When I had Windows 8.1, I simply disabled it. But Windows 10 has a mind of it's own. I go into settings for touch pad and put a check mark where it says "disable touch pad". But as soon as I restart, the touch is enabled. I go where I put the check mark and it's gone--Windows just un-checked it. There are a couple of places where I can disable it, but upon restarting it goes back to where it was. I even went in Device Manager and disabled it there, but the same thing happens.

Drivers/Hardware :: Synaptics Touchpad Won't Disable

Sep 12, 2015

I understand i have asked this before, but my touchpad still refuses to disable. i have tried 5 different versions of the synaptics driver, and i believe im currently running on the best version (according to my laptop). If I go to control panel and disable it from there its still no luck. its making me regret my decision to update as it worked perfectly before.

Touchpad / Mouse Lag And Audio Beep

Aug 14, 2015

I just switch from windows 8.1 to 10 and now I get the audio "beep" when I am using my touchpad. When the mouse moves and it lags an audio beep sounds. Turning off the audio stops the sound and when playing a video, the audio from the video is not affected. Was not happening when I was on Windows 8.1.

Drivers/Hardware :: Disable The Touchpad In Lenovo Laptop?

Sep 3, 2015

In June a friend bought a Lenovo Z50-70 laptop running Win 8.1. He particularly dislikes touchpads so uses a mouse. In 8.1 I was able to disable the touchpad for him, via Device Manager. He's now updated to Win 10 and the touchpad has come back to life. I've been trying to disable it again, so far without success.

In "Settings", the only option under touchpad is to alter the delay on using "click". I went to Control Panel.

In "Device Manager > Mice and other pointing devices" there are only two options, "HID-compliant mouse" (which has a disable option) and "Lenovo Pointing Device", which I assume refers to the touch pad (is this assumption right?) and which can be uninstalled but has no "disable" option.

In "Device Manager > Human Interface Devices" amongst other things there are two entries both named "HID-compliant vendor-defined device". Both can potentially be disabled, but without further knowledge I'm disinclined to disable them in case I inadvertently disable the mouse in the process.

Keyboard Button To Disable Touchpad Stopped Working

Sep 22, 2015

I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop. It kept prompting me to upgrade to Windows 10, so I did so. Now the button that disables my touchpad (also the F5 button) is not working. The touchpad will not turn off.

Secondly, when I try to move the cursor, the "right click" menu pops up wherever the cursor lands, and it will not let me type. I have to use an external mouse to click out of the menu, then put the cursor back where I wanted it to land.

How can I make the disable button on my keyboard work again, and how can I fix the mouse so that the right click menu only comes up if I actually right click?

Tray Icons Hide Automatically / How To Disable

Aug 12, 2015

Ever since Windows XP icons in the tray bar automatically hide when unused. Since I believe Windows Vista there was the option to make those tray icons visible so they didn't hide even when they were not used. I cannot seem to find this option in Windows 10, how I make sure the tray icons won't hide?

I want the icons in the big square to just be next to the others on the taskbar. In Windows 7 and 8/8.1 (and maybe also XP and Vista I don't remember) I know you could just right-click the arrow and mark a checkbox but there is no such thing in Windows 10.

Mouse Would Not Work / Password Automatically Gets Guessed To Access Machine

Sep 10, 2015

When i turned it on and it got to the login screen in windows 10 my mouse would not work, then my password automatically gets guessed to access my machine, it fails then nothing happens. I take my mouse out and plug it back in and it works fine! But the weird thing is I immediately thought I had a virus or such on my PC but my wireless isn't started or running until i login so there's no way someone could have had instant remote control over my machine? After they guessed the password I attempted my original password but that failed it wouldn't work. I restarted my machine and the password worked fine?

I'm doing a virus scan now just in case, it was just strange how it was all sudden, the password was typed in incredibly fast and after it failed there was no response until i unplugged my mouse..

Can't Disable Ctrl Alt Disable On Login Screen

Sep 28, 2015

I activated the ctrl alt disable login screen for Windows 10 by using this registry key from this forum.(Lock Screen - Enable or Disable in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums).

I downloaded and installed the key to disable only to find it didn't work so I tried to manually do it by changing the number from 0 to 1 only to find its already at 1.
I also tried going the user passwords2 to find the box to disable ctrl alt disable login is already ticked, but is greyed out meaning I can't untick the box.

Touchpad Not Working

Aug 4, 2015

I have installed Windows 10 on my Asus N76VZ laptop. I have the problem after a few days that my touchpad stops working. I can move the cursor around, it will highlight the item, but I can't click on it. I can solve this problem by installing the driver, after installing the driver I have to reboot it and everything works fine. If I close the lid, stay away from it a few hours, the problem may occure again and the same process has to be done. I am also experiencing lag spikes with normal task usage like moving my cursor. Not when opening new tabs or programs. Just normal movements.

Hibernation / Shutting Down And Touchpad Sensitivity

Jan 13, 2016

Hibernation ON: Upon shutting down my Acer Aspire 5250 Laptop when hibernation is enabled, the computer doesn't shut down normally. Instead, the screen goes black as if it's shutting down and then the power light blinks and then finally it shuts down.

Hibernation OFF: Upon shutting down my Acer Aspire 5250 Laptop when hibernation is disabled, the computer shuts down normally. The screen goes black letting you know it is shutting down, power light goes off as well as it itself.

Touchpad Sensitivity: I use a wireless mouse. However when I am using Microsoft Edge (Most of time), Internet Explorer (Sometimes), or Google Chrome (Only on Sundays) my touchpad is overly sensitive. If I accidentally bump it with my hand, it changes the size of my browsers' webpage.

Touchpad Two Finger Scrolling Not Working

Mar 19, 2016

Ever since I upgraded my Dell Inspiron 15-3521 laptop to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1 last year I've had intermittent issues with the touchpad. Specifically, about 25% of the times that I turn on the computer I'm completely unable to scroll up or down using two finger multi-touch gestures (putting two fingers on the touchpad and moving them up or down to make a webpage scroll up or down, for example). The mouse cursor will also randomly stop responding for a few seconds at a time when the scrolling issue is occuring. Usually I just restart the computer to get around it but I'd like to fix the problem once and for all.

I've tried fixing the issue a number of times over the past few months by upgrading the drivers from Dell's website as well as attempting other fixes suggested on other forum posts describing the same issues but haven't had any luck. I'm ready to try anything you suggest, including things I may have done already (ex: downloading the latest drivers), preferably saving more drastic measures for last. In addition, I should mention that after upgrading to Windows 10 I also began having intermittent issues with sound quality (bass is very low) when using headphones.
