I recently dual-booted my Windows 8 notebook with Windows 10. But the touchpad and keyboard won't work even after installing the appropriate drivers. i am running a Samsung NP940XG3-K03US. I just upgraded to Windows 10 and my keyboard and touch pad are not working. I have tried windows update, intel update, samsung update tools and nothing has worked.
View 2 RepliesI have gone through the synaptic touch pad settings several times and and I still have to use cat paw touches on the keyboard and touch pad to keep the window from randomly zooming. Also the search window keeps popping up randomly and I have to tap the touch pad to remove it.
View 8 RepliesI have a Toshiba Satellite laptop. It kept prompting me to upgrade to Windows 10, so I did so. Now the button that disables my touchpad (also the F5 button) is not working. The touchpad will not turn off.
Secondly, when I try to move the cursor, the "right click" menu pops up wherever the cursor lands, and it will not let me type. I have to use an external mouse to click out of the menu, then put the cursor back where I wanted it to land.
How can I make the disable button on my keyboard work again, and how can I fix the mouse so that the right click menu only comes up if I actually right click?
This has happened a lot since my upgrade to Windows 10, and it's really starting to get on my nerves. Seemingly randomly, my keyboard will stop responding to what I type, and my touchpad completely stops as well (no, I did not accidentally click to disable it). These problems will never resolve themselves on their own, but as soon as I reset the computer everything works again - to me, that sounded like a driver crash, but nope! I checked the driver menu and it told me everything was running just fine. What's even more strange is that I have the backlight keyboard enabled so that when I type, it lights up. And strangely, the keys still light up when I press them, so I know it's registering my typing SOME how.
You would also think that this would be a software problem since it fixes immediately upon reset, but I've noticed that this issue seems to crop up a lot right after I have moved my computer..
In order to possibly do testing on what is causing this (I've tried everything I can think of) I am purposely not resetting my computer (this is a touch screen, but this on-screen keyboard typing is obnoxious). Currently, both keyboard and touchpad don't work, but a usb mouse I use does (the computer is also set so that using the usb mouse does not disable the touchpad).
I read through the forum and used the instructions given using an external mouse to sort he touchpad issue out. But my clickers won't work. It's a Toshiba satellite C50D-B-120 laptop and prior to his I had windows 8.1.

View 3 RepliesSuddenly when I turned on my machine, the left click button on touchpad will no longer work,right click works fine but no left click. This is also true for the touch screen. If I touch the window icon to open the menu, it changes color but does nothing. Things I tried:
1-Connected an external mouse and it also doesn't work with left click.
2-I tried a restore point from last week to see if that solved the problem. Still the same.
What I did to disable the left click button. Could have been caused by a windows update?
I just upgraded to Windows 10 and have discovered a problem that I can't seem to fix. When I Right-click on my Touchpad, nothing happens. This was very useful when I need to fix a word spelling & get options for the misspelled word.

View 1 RepliesLenovo Thinkpad R500 - Touchpad scroll works in Internet Explorer, Firefox, File Explorer, Device manager and some other places, but it does not work in Start menu or any menu under Control panel, Edge or Windows Store - no matter what I have tried it simply will not Scroll - There is no doubt this a BUG.
I'm guessing it a bug in windows registry, but don't know where to find it. I have been through most that has to do with ALPS. Where the registry settings for the MS software scroll option are.
Touchpad/Trackpoint: ALPS UltraNav 2 - I have the newest driver from lenovo an ALPS don't have driver download available. But can't see how its a driver issue when it works in Device manager and the other places.
I tried getting MS support engineers at MS forum, to take a look at it, but they have this attitude that its driver issue and not Windows bug. Besides that, they never read the question before dishing out some standard solution like "try going to safe mode to see if the problem persist" - That is not going to work, since the drivers that control the scroll will not load in safe mode and then scroll will not work at all, a "real" technician would know that.
Scrolling right now in Firefox - If i go to Edge or Store, its not working.
i keep some rdp windows open for work all day and at some point the keyboard just stops working on the remote desktops, only the mouse works, to get it working again i have to close the rdp session and reopen it many times, sometimes even this doesn't work, so i have to reboot my win 10 and then it normally works. I must say that in all my years of windows 7 i have never had a similar issue.

Tried Windows 10 but was unable to get the wireless LAN driver to work, so I went back to Win 7 via the official "Go Back to Windows 7" option in Windows 10 - now the keyboard and mouse won't respond after start up. They work fine in the bios, but are completely unresponsive on the login screen - even when I boot in safe mode. No USB ports work, so I can't try another keyboard/mouse. Was going to reinstall but I'll lose the existing data. Now I'm going to have to pull the drive and copy over manually, then reinstall. Last thing I was going to try was disabling EVERYTHING in the BIOS just in case there was some kind of weird IRQ conflict, etc.
View 1 Repliesturned my computer on yesterday and it loaded up fine, apart from there was no cursor and my keyboard wouldn't work. I have a R.A.T. 5 mouse and a Coolermaster QuickFire keyboard. I know that they're on and working because their LED's are on. I decided to plug in my old ps2 keyboard and restart my PC to enter BIOS. I checked and it recognises that the keyboard and the mouse are connected into the USB hub and says they're working. Another thing, even my ps2 keyboard doesn't work when my computer gets past the start screen!

View 9 RepliesI have two desktops using a single keyboard, monitor and mouse via a KVM device. One desktop is running Windows 7 but I've just upgraded the other from Windows 8 to Windows 10.
All was 100% well on both machines before the upgrade. The Windows 7 machine is still fine (as you'd expect!) but on the Windows 10 machine hitting the key on the keyboard has no effect whatsoever. On Windows 10 set up I chose "UK keyboard" as usual; I think I've always done whenever I've loaded any version of Windows.
(The sharper ones amongst you will have realised that I'm typing this on the Windows 7 machine!!!)
I recently tried windows 10... didnt like it. Did the recall back to windows 7 option. Let it do its thing. Came back and my computer was trying to rapair itself... said could not reboot windows is checking for a solution.. I let it go.. it said no solution found. And just turned off..So I restarted spammed f8. Tried to start in safemode.
Got to password screen and mouse and keyboard won't work...So I restart, spam f8 again. I select repair windows this time, cancel the repair process then clicm.advanced options. Try to look at restore points... and it says none exist... that is bs. I did restore points twice a week. when. I try to start normally it loads her goes to a blue screen with tons of writing and letters and errorrs but no time to read any...
I'm guessing it doesn't recognize the 10 drvers. And without the keyboard I can't log in because I have a password. Keyboard does work in bios though but not in safe mode.I really don't want reinstall and lose all my data

Before this problem, I had issues with BAD_POOL_HEADER (BSoD) on Windows 10 after updating drivers. Checking if I had any system restores, it didn't have any that I made before the update. So, I reset my computer, with all files intact. Then my problem arises; keyboard and mouse do not work, and I'm pretty much stuck on the login screen.

View 1 RepliesI'm stick on the below screen. My keyboard and mouse will not respond. I don't get a login prompt. The time is correct and the little icon in the bottom right indicates if my Ethernet cable is connected.
I had Window 7. I used the microsoft provided upgrade to install windows 10. The process seemed to have completed successfully. I was able to get a login prompt once and successfully logged in. I opted to not send any information to microsoft at the initial propts. I got to my desktop, everything seemed to be working ok. I thought there were a few startup apps I didn't need in my tray. So I turned off auto startup on login for OneDrive, Skype, and my logitech camera. I restarted and now I get stuck at this screen.
The time updates correctly over time, its not frozen. I can plugin/unplug the Ethernet cable and the little icon in the bottom right will change to indicate if it has internet. I can press the power button on my computer and it correctly interprets that as a shutdown command and it gracefully shuts down.
My mouse/keyboard wont work. They used to work fine. I am able to use the mouse/keyboard in my BIOS with out a problem. However the moment the system starts to load, the lights on my keyboard and mouse go out and they become unresponsive. I tried various combinations of pluging the USB keyboard/mouse into different ports. I tried using different mouses and keyboards. I tried disabling legacy USB support in the BIOS. Nothing works.
I tried getting into safe mode but can't. Most solutions to get into safe mode require your system to already be working correctly. Holding F8 or F8+Shift don't work.
I'm currently installing windows 10 on my lap top so I can try to create a restore disk. Which should then allow me to go into safe mode and try to repair what ever has gone wrong.
My computer is sporting an i7 with 16 gigs of memory. I use a 128gb SSD for my system and have 3 other hard drives for various data storage. No other OS installed. The computer has been functioning fine for the last two years.
