Aug 12, 2015I've recently created a thread stating that Start Menu, Settings and everything on taskbar were not working (such as volume control and wi-fi networks). I reinstalled Windows (clean install) and it was good again until today, when it started again.
I tried to open Settings via "ms-settings:" via Run, but it says that "limit time was reached" (It's a rough translation, as Windows language in my notebook is not in English). If I press Windows key + P (ms-settings:display), it won't open and I get a message that "this file has not an associated program to it to perform this task". Install a program, or in case there's one already installed, create an association in Defaul Programs control panel." Basically, this a list of what is not opening anymore:
Start Menu, Settings (and all options within it), Windows tray icons (power options, wi-fi networks etc.).
I've already rebooted Windows but I didn't fix anything. I don't know man, this is the second time this issue arises after a clean install. Windows 10 is buggy as hell, what's up with Settings and Start menu not opening anymore? Is Windows 10 still in beta? Seriously, did MS test Windows 10 at all? It doesn't look so. If this keeps happening I'll have to return to Windows 8.1 which was working fine
Power Button Stops Working Until Restart
Aug 2, 2015I upgraded to Windows 10 from 7. Since the update I've run into an issue where, after I've been using my computer for a while and have done a few sleep/wake cycles, I won't be able to put my computer to sleep with the physical power button. It wakes up just fine with the power button. Restarting my computer temporarily resolves the issue.

Feb 10, 2016The left-click on my Start icon has stopped working and several reboots have not resolved the situation. My Windows key doesn't work either. I cannot launch Edge either. I'm running Windows 10 Home on a new Dell laptop.
What the heck is going on and how do I fix it? I've got apps that don't appear on my desktop which I am completely unable to use now.
For what it's worth, I can right-click the Start button since my latest reboot but I can't left-click it. (On the previous reboot, I couldn't right- or left-click it.)
I need this machine working ASAP because I use it for my job and my shift just started!

Additionally, Start Menu and tray options, such as volume slider and wi-fi menu are not opening anymore. Settings starts, though. Dec 25, 2015I just did a clean install on W10 and change my bios to UEFI (which it supports.) I'm having this intermittent problem with the Windows "Start" Button in the lower left. It just stops working - left clicking doesn't do anything, although right-clicking does. I just have the basics installed now.
Also, my Windows "Start" key on my keyboard stops working as well. I checked on a keyboard checker and the key itself is fine. I have to log out/back in to get it to work again.

Nov 15, 2015I know its a common problem with 10 but here is a list of my problems that occurred a few days after upgrading to windows 10.start menu isn't accessible (unless i download classic shell)task bar isn't accessible system tray isn't accessible - i can't even open the clock or volume control! edge has vanished cortana is non-existent app store is not accessible.there are various solutions out there i know - i have tried every one i could find but to no avail. these include: creating a new user - doesn't allow it.
powershell (as admin) - this command: Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)AppXManifest.xml"} - does nothing performing sfc /scannow - no integrity violations
removing various anti-virus and anti-spyware software packages - does nothing applying the batch file of win 10 default services - says access is denied for each item. msconfig - booted in safe mode etc Error 67758 - fixing this finds no problem detected

Dec 30, 2015Having the start menu critical error in Windows 10? (The error message says the issue will be fixed when you sign off, but that never fixes it.)
Since the start menu doesn't work, that also means you can't access any of your programs (apps) OR the internet, via Edge.
After searching on Microsoft's site, it appears this problem has been around at least since August, but there don't appear to be any real fixes for it.

Wi-Fi tray icon, battery and volume don't work. I don't know what to do. I search about it and found something about resetting explorer.exe, I try that but didn't work.

I just did another clean install and now im trying everything to avoid this. I even tried switching to enterprise version of windows
I get this issue where the boot logo (win logo with circle) shows up twice. like once and then the screen goes blank for a sec and then i see that shitty thing again but its laggy this time.... I think this is the problem that finally leads to the start menu disappear thingy..

Aug 10, 2015I downloaded Windows 10 several hours ago. Nothing in the lower task bar will open. When I left click on the start button, nothing happen. When I right click, I get a menu but nothing will open. When I click in the "Search" area, no cursor appears. I don't know how to get to my pictures or documents.
Why is my start button (or anything else in lower task bar) not working?
Also - I use Avast security protection. Since I downloaded Windows 10, my firewall is turned off with Avast. I clicked a button to turn it on, but I am not being allowed to do so. Do I need to change something in the Windows 10 settings. First I need to learn how to pull up the settings since the start button is not working.

Dec 14, 2015I upgraded windows a few months ago. about a month ago my search bar and my start button didnt work and no matter what i clicked i couldnt get it to work. I wasnt to mad about that but now i cant right click my icons and ive tried restarting windows explorer and ive googled alot. Its starting to bug me to the point where it may be better to go back to windows 7 or do a fresh install to get rid of all the problems.

When I left click on the Start Button, nothing happens. If I right click, I get a pop-up menu that is different than the Start page and is all in black and white. I don't know if the right click menu was there before because I don't think I have ever tried that.When I right click either the Word or the Excel icons in the taskbar, nothing happens (left clicking still opens the app as usual). In the past, if I right clicked the icon I would get a pop-up menu with the files that I had pinned to the taskbar plus the most recent files that I had used that weren't pinned.

Sep 15, 2015I upgraded to Windows 10 in early August and all has been well until this week when I find that when I left click on the start button nothing happens (right click is fine), and Microsoft Edge seems to have disappeared from my PC (although the icon remains on the Quick Start Bar (but does nothing). This means that I cannot access my list of programs and apps etc.
This all seems to have happened after the last Windows Update. I have tried a system restore from some of the previous restore points, but to no avail.
I have a laptop as well and Windows 10 is running fine on that.
Start Button Displaying But Not Working
Sep 14, 2015The start button was working until there was a forced reboot (power failure). Then left click (normal click) over the start button does absolutely nothing. Right click brings up a menu but "programs" and also "settings" are missing and not included on this list. Search or Task View buttons do not work either with "normal" click.
