Jan 21, 2016In Windows XP, when I print a doc from my PDF viewer, I can select my network attached printer's FAX machine and send a fax. In Windows 10, when I print I have a print destination of 'Fax' which puts me into the Windows 10 Fax code which tells me that I don't have a fax machine set up and then we go downhill into total irrelevancy.

Dec 27, 2015I purchased an HP ENVYphoenix computer in 2015 and have upgraded to Windows 10. I was able to scan from my computer to my HP printer prior to the upgrade. The scan function is on longer available at the printer LED screen nor from my computer.

Jan 4, 2016When the print spooler is turned on I get a message that says the printer queue is full. (The printer queue is empty.)
If I try the printer without the printer spool on i.e. print directly to the printer, I get a message that says "Unable to create a print job."
This printer was working with Win 10 until recently. The scan function works as it should. So the computer does see and interacts with the printer through the usb port.
Something must have changed in the latest Windows 10 release to gum up the works.

Jan 26, 2016The issue is I have a network printer selected as the default in Windows 10. I have the option "Let Windows manage my default printer" turned off. At one point randomly, the default printer goes back to the Adobe PDF as the default.
Steps taken:
* I have checked the registry settings to ensure that the options "let Windows manage my default printer" is switched off. I can confirm this.
* Switched the default printer back to the network printer and performed a reboot. The network printer remains as the default. At some point of the day it goes back to Adobe PDF.

Oct 25, 2015Earlier today while playing Dying Light, my PC randomly blue-screened with the error "page fault in nonpaged area cpuz136_x64.sys" - After running a malware scan, nothing was found. After that I cleaned my registry with CCleaner. I haven't played Dying Light since then, but a few minutes ago I decided to run sfc /scannow - and It came up with a few files that were corrupt.

Oct 23, 2015In connection with my job, I have several insurance companies asking me to send scanned documents in Portable Document Format (PDF). My Brother Printer Control Center Fax-Scan software is not yet compatible with Windows10, even in Windows7 compatibility mode. The Windows10 Fax & Scan program does not list PDF as a scan-to file conversion option. Only jpeg, bitmap, txt, etc..
Is there a way to tweak or add-on something to Windows Fax & Scan to make it scan documents into PDF format?
Word 2013 - Scan A Document?
Nov 4, 2015My Computer came with Word 2013 installed on it and I have been looking for a way to scan a Document or Article directly into the Word 2013 program but I can't find a way to do it. In Word 2010 you could Customize and make a Keyboard Shortcut by selecting InsertImagerScan. In Word 2010 I made this shortcut by using the CTRL+8 keys and I could scan directly into Word 10 by using that key combination. I tried to set up the same Keyboard Shortcut option in Word 2013 - The InsertImagerScan is available in Word 2013 but I can't get it to work. How to Scan Directly Into Word 2013?

I had Norton look into it, and they said that it was fixed on my PC (through remote access), but every time I run the full or quick scan and tell it to shut down, it restarts!!! I F$#%(&G HATE WINDOWS 10. I am tempted to return to Windows 8.

Out of curiosity, I installed a pristine Windows 10 Pro on a clean, formatted, erased and empty(?) hard drive with no apps installed on a spare laptop . Ran SFC /Scannow and it reported corrupt files.

or should I just dump Defender totally for another Free antivirus? I was using Avast for awhile but MSE was less heavy on the resources so I went with that..

Dec 19, 2015I run a scan but as soon as I have rebooted and within an hour or so it asks me again? I receive the notification in the taskbar and Windows Defender turns orange and states I am unprotected. So far I have completed 3 clean scans today but after a reboot it is as if it does not remember that I have run a scan. I am running the latest Windows 10 pro.

Jan 15, 2016I'm presently using (running) Avast Pro and Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit-Free, with weekly running of CCleaner, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, and AdwCleaner. I do a lot of browsing and haven't had any problems with this approach. However, I got the hankering to also keep Windows Defender up-to-date and to occasionally run its scan just to see see if anything comes up.
So, I go to WD with the expectation that it is turned off and find that it may not be. I would go to update&security>windows defender and find, to my surprise, that real-time protection and cloud based protection are turned on, but grayed out. Furthermore, when scrolling to the bottom of the screen and clicking Open Windows Defender, I get the message that "WD is turned off and not monitoring the computer." Jan 5, 2016I found out how to see the event logs for Windows Defender scans from a thread on eightforums ("Windows Defender - where are the Scan Results?"). I just ran a full scan, but Windows Defender apparently ran a quick scan afterwards, so there is no confirmation on the WD user interface that the full scan completed. So following the advice in that other thread, I looked at the WD log in the Event Viewer. I see in the Operational listing two events with Event ID 1000, which seems to correspond to a scan starting, and two with Event ID 1001, which corresponds to a scan finishing (see below). The two 1000 events and the two 1001 events differ from each other in the "Scan Type Index" visible in the Details view of each event, which is "1" for one pair of 1000 and 1001 and "2" for the other. The times are consistent with the 1000/1001 pair for Scan Type Index 2 being the full scan and the pair with Scan Type Index 1 being the subsequent quick scan. Am I correct that Scan Type Index 1 is a quick scan and Scan Type Index 2 is a full scan? Is there some place where the various event type codes, etc are described?

Sep 9, 2015I have used Compro Videomate DVT4 on 3 previous versions of Windows with no problems. It is a different story with Windows 10, it loads ok but when it comes to scanning for channels you can see them flash on the screen as the scan passes but they are not loaded. I have uninstalled the original program and driver and installed the latest available driver and program and still the same problem also I have tried the program in compatibility modes of XP Vista and Windows 7 with no result.

Jan 10, 2016First thing I should mention is I haven't had a virus in at least ten years. Those of you that run Windows Defender know that it runs a daily quick scan so maybe no real need to run a full scan. That said, I set WD to run a full scan and went to bed last night. Woke up this morning and saw it had barely moved. First thing I thought of is the 'power options' settings. So I did the usual: Control Panel/power options – power saver – change power settings/put computer to sleep-never / change advanced power settings/change settings that are currently unavailable-Hard disk-Turn off hard disk after – Never – Apply – O.K.
Started another scan, within ten minutes I saw that the power button light is in 'sleep' mode. Let it run for two hours anyway. Scan basically did not run.
Windows 10, Dell computer, all updates. I have run full scans in the past, been several months, and it took a little less than two hours. Do I suspect I have a virus – no. Still that shouldn't prevent me from running a full scan. I have "no" other issues.

Feb 10, 2016How to stop this damn notification from popping up every five minutes? I've tried everything. I've let it scan my computer (both quick-scan and full-scan), but within five minutes the notification pops back up again. I've looked online and found that it can be down to a certain setting in CCleaner, I use CCleaner but the option that all the solutions say to untick isn't present in the latest versions.
I'm running Windows 10 64bit.
