Vista had file box at the top of e-mail page that would allow saving e-mails. Windows 10 has no file box thst I can find. Have clicked everything on e-mail pages. Also I see no archive selection so I am using chats.
Whenever I try to 'save as' in a documents folder, it flashes up "you don't have permission to save in this location. Contact the administrator to obtain permission. Would you like to save in the documents folder instead?" When I click 'Yes' I just go round in circles to be told I do not have permission??? I have followed instructions to 'Run as administrator' and on a couple of occasions I have managed to save things (I'm not sure how??) but next time I go into it, it reverts back to the same error message. Also it is hit and miss, and near impossible to search and locate any files.
I cannot get permission to save anything to my documents, or photos, do I uninstall One Drive? If So how, and is this the answer to the problem. I have seen all the do not work fixes and to be honest getting frustrated, I have changed all permissions to administrator in all boxes checked.
Since i have upgraded to Win 10 i can no longer save any documents i create with MS Word.I try to save and this error messages pops up every time, and now i cant save any projects i create.
When I try to save to local C drive (Documents) I get an error:
"SAVE AS ... You don't have permission to modify files in this network location. Contact the administrator per [sic] permission to make these changes."
I have looked at the C drive and can see no obvious issues, e.g. 'read only' is not set.
I was trying to redirect my game save files in my documents which is on my ssd where windows 10 is installed on to my hard drive when I accidently replaced my user folder with the documents one, now all the files which were in my user folder are in the documents one as well as the games which were in the document file!!!I tried to put it back but the two files seem to have merged.
PROBLEM: MS Office 2013 can't save files anywhere except in OneDrive (which I don't want to use).
BACKGROUND: Win10 upgrade on Alienware 17 R2 (2015 model) from 8.1 went well - no errors. After using for a few days (normal shutdown / startups), used MS Word to create a document.
Created my documentWent to file save dialogue, typed in filename e.g. "status update.docx".Almost immediately, the MS Word file save dialogue popped back up with the same filename, but now appended with a "1" e.g. "statusupdate1.docx" and received an error message (1st clue things aren't right)Hit 'Save' and everything looks okay except the document name shown at the top of MS Word is "Document1" (2nd clue things aren't right)Choose 'File, Close' and dialogue "Want to save your changes to Document1?" pops up (3rd clue)Choose 'Save' and "statusupdate1.docx" appears as the filename -- no matter how many times I hit 'Save' the 'Save as' dialogue keeps coming back with the "statusupdate1.docx" filenameI'm forced to choose 'Don't Save' in the dialogue to exit MS WordI CAN'T save in docx, docm, or doc in any location EXCEPT OneDriveI CAN save rtf versions everywhere
ACTIONS TAKEN:
Checked the web for fixes but didn't find any that workedRan sfc /scannowRan dism /Online /Cleanup-image /RestorehealthChose to completely remove MS Office 2013 and reinstall (used Microsoft's MSO total removal tool which removes all registry entries in addition to removing the files)After re-installation, experienced the same problem with MS Excel files (new problem after remove/install cycle)Checked out Microsoft's Known Issues with Office and Windows 10, but no joy - [URL] .... Now every time I use Word, it also tries to save normal.docx which it can't save, and which takes multiple steps to finally abandon saving. Since word is used by Outlook, it also means that I have the normal.docx style sheet issue when composing mail or opening attachments. Installed Office 2016 in trial mode. No change. Exactly the same problem with Office 2016 as Office 2013.
As with many I have upgraded to Windows 10 today and it is going well except for the fact I am unable to save any files or create new ones in the Documents and Pictures folders or any sub-folders within these folders. For instance, I tried to save an image created in paint and attempted to save it in the Pictures folder, it gave me the error message seen in this picture below:
Note, I am the only user on the system, and also the admin account so I do not know why it says this. Clicking Yes on the box does nothing and the same thing still occurs afterward. In addition, bringing up the right click menu and going to new only allows me to create a new folder, and the windows admin shield icon appears next to it. Deleting files also prompts me to ask for admin permission but in that case I can simply click the continue button and it goes through.
It just sits there with a red screen and circling dots for hours. I have no access to change the boot options or anything else. I did find a thread from someone claiming to be a Microsoft Software engineer giving directions to change ownership of files on the computer. After 3+ hours it finally finished and put out some message about changing profile or something like that. I just booted the system. It took another 3+ hour to complete the reboot and apparently undid al the ownership changes. I gave up for a day or more but turned on the computer last night. Six hours later it still spinning white dot on a red background with no access to any OS.
I have a problem with Microsoft Edge. It won't save my passwords on sites, nor it will ask me to save passwords on sites. I have quite a few that were save previously with Windows 7, but obviously, not all of them have transferred to Windows 10. I have been to Settings, View advance settings, offer to save passwords in ON, unchecked it OFF, then back ON. No changes. I have about 10 passwords saved under Manage my saved passwords, but can't add any.
W-10 Build 14271 Edge 31.14271.1000.0 Probably in front of my nose.
Edge Settings.
After I change the "Open with" settings, I can't find a "Save".
I click the "Open with" to "A specific page or pages", change the Drop-down to "Custom", X out "about:start", in the "Enter a web address" space, I enter "www.google.com.
From there I'm lost. I don't see any "apply", "Save" or anything to keep the changed settings.
I quit Edge and open it up again and it opens back with the default MSN, etc.
I am trying to add an email address from an existing email from the Windows 10 Mail app to the Windows 10 People app. I click the email adress, click OPEN CONTACT, click SAVE. It does not save. Instead, it opens my list of contacts and asks me to "Choose a contact". I have to be able to save new contacts from my emails I receive.
Microsoft Edge didn't come with a "Save As" feature when downloading something from the internet allowing us to change the name of the file as well as the location in which it is being saved. And I was hoping that with updates it would be added. However, I still don't see the feature, even after this November update.
Does this will ever be added? I have been using Edge since it came out, but if this continues, I will be switching back to IE.
how to save a Ebay auction bid to Favorites List in Windows 10? In Windows 7 you could just right click on the Ebay auction bid site and save it to the favorites list. There you can keep tabs on this auction bidding. Not in Windows 10 that I have learned so for how to do.
Using Win10 x64 with IE11, and after the latest major update(TH2) immediately I noticed that whenever I save anything in "fav bar" it now saves and the icon appears from left-hand side. Earlier any saves I did the icons started from right-side/far end side of the fav. bar.
So, is there a way I can revert so tht new saved icons get saved on right-side of the bar?
I use Windows Live Mail, and every time I create a category in my contacts, add 25 names, I come back to find that it has been deleted. Is there a limit to the amount of contacts it holds? How to permanently save a category?
I am using Word 2013 on my laptop. Windows 8 was operating system. Recently upgraded to Windows 10. When I save Word documents now, they are saved as Wordpad documents. (.xml files) Wordpad does not recommend some of the Word formatting and alters the documents.
How do I correct this? I want the save as Word documents, as I did in the past.
I've trying out the new preview, 10240. Everything works fine except for the default documents folder (and the same for Images). As my screenshots reveal, by default the documents and images folder are the ones with OneDrive. (My system is in Spanish, but it seems self-explanatory, I believe)
After some examination, I located the "Storage" section in the new settings window and I see that the default folder for Documents is OneDrive. However, after I set to "This PC (Drive C)" it doesn't do anything, as as soon as I close the window, the option reverts back to OneDrive.
I actually like and use OneDrive, and I had no problems with it with Win8.1. So I don't want to disable it.
I tried to do a search but it didn't come up with much. where the Save/SaveAs/Open dialogs don't open and instead the app crashes? I've seen it in Notepad, Paint and Word. If I kill all explorer.exe processes, and then launch for example Notepad from Task Manager, the issue goes away, but as soon as I reboot, it returns.
I'm running Office 2003 in Windows 10 (upgraded from Windows 7) with no visible issues.
Except that when I want to save a Word document using "Save As" it prompts me for all sorts of unsuitable locations...My Music, My Pictures, My Videos, and some random programs which somehow landed up in the "Documents" folder. None of the shortcuts I'd like to see there (and which are in the folder, because I put them there!) show up. What to do?
As I don't like the "big brother is watching you" spect of the automatically sinc with OneDrive and as I get a "Pro" version, I don't want to use OneDrive anymore (except the pro version for some few folders).
So I started to organise my documents in the folder: C:/Users/myname/Documents
But I can't put it in the "Quick Access" as there is already the Documents which are located in C:/Users/myname/OneDrive but which is empty for me...
I also hardly find my documents when I download a document, as the OneDrive folder is "dominant".
Some screens to explain my issue...
So I would like to "replace" the "Documents" OneDrive Folder shortcut by my "true" Documents Folder.
