SQL Server 2008 :: Skip Code If Certain Condition Not Met In Stored Procedure

I have a stored procedure with several insert into statements. On occasion one of the insert into queries doesn't return any data. What is the best way to test for no records then, skip that query?

SQL Server 2008 :: Upload 1000 Text Files Into One Table - Skip Last Row?

Jul 19, 2015

Im trying to upload 1000 txt files into one table in SQL. I'm using the following query, to upload one txt file at a time:

bulk insert [dbo].AAA_2013_2015
from 'dataserverSQL Data FilesSQL_EMELIZFC x Bloque Detallada201308 Detalle FacturasFACT_BLOQ_AGO13 (4).txt'
with (firstrow = 2,
lastrow = ???,
fieldterminator = ';',
rowterminator = '0x0A')

I'm trying that the query skip the last row because gives me the following error:

Msg 4866, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
The bulk load failed. The column is too long in the data file for row 1, column 17. Verify that the field terminator and row terminator are specified correctly.
Msg 7399, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
The OLE DB provider "BULK" for linked server "(null)" reported an error. The provider did not give any information about the error.
Msg 7330, Level 16, State 2, Line 1
Cannot fetch a row from OLE DB provider "BULK" for linked server "(null)".

know a command to skip the last row, something like lastrow= all-1...or something like that.

I also executed using MAXERRORS command...like this:

bulk insert [dbo].AAA_2013_2015
from 'dataserverSQL Data FilesSQL_EMELIZFC x Bloque Detallada201308 Detalle FacturasFACT_BLOQ_AGO13 (15).txt'
with (firstrow = 2,
fieldterminator = ';',
MAXERRORS = max_errors,
rowterminator = '0x0A')

does not recognize MAXERRORS command, also tried to put a number of error instead of max_errors.

SQL Server 2008 :: Search For A Stored Procedure

Jun 25, 2015

I would like to search for a particular stored procedure written by a developer. I know the name of the procedure but in which db is it residing in. There are 40 databases in this SQL 2008 instance. I search on the name column in sys.all_objects table and it does not return anything. I end up querying sys.procedures on each database to locate the procedure. Is there a system table/view that I can query to look for a procedure, instead of querying sys.procedures on each database one by one?

SQL Server Insert Update Stored Procedure - Does Not Work The Same Way From Code Behind

Mar 13, 2007

All:
 I have created a stored procedure on SQL server that does an Insert else Update to a table. The SP starts be doing "IF NOT EXISTS" check at the top to determine if it should be an insert or an update.
When i run the stored procedure directly on SQL server (Query Analyzer) it works fine. It updates when I pass in an existing ID#, and does an insert when I pass in a NULL to the ID#.
When i run the exact same logic from my aspx.vb code it keeps inserting the data everytime! I have debugged the code several times and all the parameters are getting passed in as they should be? Can anyone help, or have any ideas what could be happening?
Here is the basic shell of my SP:
CREATE PROCEDURE [dbo].[spHeader_InsertUpdate]
@FID  int = null OUTPUT,@FLD1 varchar(50),@FLD2 smalldatetime,@FLD3 smalldatetime,@FLD4 smalldatetime
AS
Declare @rtncode int
IF NOT EXISTS(select * from HeaderTable where FormID=@FID)
 Begin  begin transaction
   --Insert record   Insert into HeaderTable (FLD1, FLD2, FLD3, FLD4)    Values (@FLD1, @FLD2, @FLD3,@FLD4)   SET @FID = SCOPE_IDENTITY();      --Check for error   if @@error <> 0    begin     rollback transaction     select @rtncode = 0     return @rtncode    end   else    begin     commit transaction     select @rtncode = 1     return @rtncode    end      endELSE
 Begin  begin transaction
   --Update record   Update HeaderTable SET FLD2=@FLD2, FLD3=@FLD3, FLD4=@FLD4    where FormID=@FID;
   --Check for error   if @@error <> 0    begin     rollback transaction     select @rtncode = 0     return @rtncode    end   else    begin     commit transaction     select @rtncode = 2     return @rtncode   end
End---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Managed Code In SQL Server 2005 And Stored Procedure Name Qualification

Mar 11, 2008

All --
Please help.
I am using managed code in SQL Server 2005 and have a question about stored procedure name qualification.
With a VS.NET 2005 Pro Database project, when I use >Build, >DeploySolution, it works great but my stored procedures are named with qualification using my domainusername.ProcName convention, something like this...
XYZ_TECHKamoskiM.GetData
 ...when I want them to be named with the dbo.ProcName convention, something like this...
dbo.GetData
...and I cannot see where this can be changed.
Do you happen to know?
Please advise.
(BTW, I have tried going to this setting >Project, >Properties, >Database, >AssemblyOwner, and putting in the value "dbo" but that does not do what I want.)
(BTW, as a workaround, I have simply scripted the procedures, so that I can drop them and then add them back with the right names-- but, that is a bit tedious and wasted effort, IMHO.)
Thank you.

Using Results From Stored Procedure In WHERE Condition

Dec 19, 2004

Hi,

I'm trying to write a nested stored procedure, with the outer proc named "spAssociate", and inner proc named "spSales".

So far I have created the inner proc

CREATE PROCEDURE spSales@userID intASSET NOCOUNT ON
SELECT SalesOppID
FROM Sales_Opportunities
WHERE SalesOppCurrentStatus NOT IN ('Sale Lost','Sales Closed','Sale Closed','Unqualified','Deferred','Dropped')
AND OppOwnerUserID = @userIDGO

This was successfully created. I wanted to use the return set in the outer proc, which I tried creating as:

CREATE PROCEDURE spAssociate(@userID int,
@containerType varchar(100),
@associateType varchar(100))AS SET NOCOUNT ON
SELECT AssociateID
FROM AppRelations
WHERE ContainerType=@containerType
AND ContainerID IN (EXECUTE spSales @userID)
AND AssociateType=@associateType GO

I get an error "incorrect syntax near execute".

How can I use the results from the inner proc for the WHERE condition in my outer proc?

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

SQL Server 2012 :: Displaying Code Of A Stored Procedure To A Single Line

Sep 14, 2015

Any better way to query SQL 2012 to display the code of a stored proc to a single line. I'm trying to write a script to insert the contents of the procs between my devestprod environments. So people can query a single table for any proc that is different between environments. At the moment I am using the syscomments view and the text column but the problem here is if you get a lengthy proc it cuts it up into multiple rows.

I can get around it by converting the text to a varchar(max) and outer joining the query, but as you can see by my code below I have to try and guess what the maximum number of rows I'm going to get back for my largest proc. If someone adds a new one that returns 8 rows I'm going to miss it with this query.

Select col1.[type],col1.[name],convert(varchar(max),col1.text) + isnull(convert(varchar(max),col2.Text),'')
+ isnull(convert(varchar(max),col3.Text),'')
+ isnull(convert(varchar(max),col4.Text),'')
+ isnull(convert(varchar(max),col5.Text),'')
+ isnull(convert(varchar(max),col6.Text),'')
+ isnull(convert(varchar(max),col7.Text),'')

SQL Server 2008 :: Stored Procedure Text String Replace

Apr 16, 2015

We have a legacy database that have hundreds of stored procedures.

The previous programmar uses a string like servername.databasename.dbo.tablename in the stored procedures.
We now have migrated the database to a new server. The old server is either needed to be replaced by the new server name, or remove it.

I don't know why he used servername as part of the fully qualified name, we don't use linked servers. So I think better removing the servername in all the stored procedures.

I know I can do a generate script, and replace the text and then use alter procedure to recreate all the stored procedures. But since hundreds of them, is there a programmatically way to replace them?

SQL Server 2008 :: Find All Items That Call A Stored Procedure

Nov 2, 2015

We have a process that uses a stored procedure: sp_MysteryProcedure....

The problem I am having is: I am 95% certain the issue lies with this stored procedure, but I cannot find the process that calls this procedure. It could be a SQL Server Job that calls the procedure directly, it could be an SSIS (*.dtsx) process that calls this procedure, or some other random process.

One of the big issues is we have tons of *.dtsx packages that call a bunch of stored procedures, but it doesn't seem a normal Windows Search (Start --> Search) searches these files (or perhaps something else is going on with this search).

So my question is multi-part.....

1). How would one go about finding a rouge process that loads data via a stored procedure if we believe we know the stored procedures name?
2). How do you search *.dtsx files?

WHERE Clause' Search Condition From Argument In A Stored Procedure.

Nov 7, 2007

Hello

I wonder if someone could suggest a way to obtain the following. Using SQL Server 2005 I want to create some stored procedures. I want to query the DB with various filter arguments and combinations of these. One way would be to create one stored procedure for each function signature. However, as the number of combinations of filter is large, if possible I'd rather have a generic input to the each stored procedure that corresponds to the entire WHERE clause' search condition.

The stereotype behavior I'm looking for is:

SELECT myField
FROM myTable
WHERE @mySearchCondition

Does any one have some good suggestion, code samples and/or links?

Kind regards
Jens Ivar

SQL Server 2008 :: Backup Of Distribution Database Hangs On Stored Procedure

Nov 29, 2014

Have a server running 14 production databases, 12 of which are replicated (transactional replication) to a second server for reporting. Distributor on same machine as publishers. All set to 'SyncWithBackup' = true, distribution set to Full recovery mode, log backups every 30 minutes, full backup nightly. This generally runs just fine.

Occasionally, the process 'hangs' indefinitely (has gone 12 hours or more before being caught) and I need to stop the backup job, stop one or more of the log reader agents, and restart everything, and it proceeds just fine. Annoying, but not fatal, and not very often.

This time, no matter what, the backup job hangs when it runs. This is true whether it is the FULL backup or just a Transaction Log backup. It hangs on the stored procedure sp_msrepl_backup_start, at the point where it is attempting to update the table 'MSrepl_backup_lsns'. When it is hung like this, all of the log reader agent jobs are also hung, blocked by this stored proc. I've tried stopping ALL of the log reader agents prior to starting the backup, but the backup process still hangs up at the same spot and never ends.

I can run the select statement in that SP that gathers the data for the databases 'manually' in a query window and it finishes in about 10 seconds. It actually seems to be hung up on the 'UPDATE' statement. When it is hung, I cannot SELECT from MSrepl_backup_lsns unless I append WITH (NOLOCK) to the statement. Nothing else I can find indicates that there is anything else locking that table. DBCC OPENTRAN shows that there is a lock on that table held by that stored proc -- but I can't see any reason why it won't update the table (17 total records) and move on.

As I said, normally this runs just fine. Totally baffled by what may be causing this at this time.

SQL Server 2008 :: FEFO Query If Condition

Jan 28, 2015

I wish to make a query with if condition Implemented in a database sql server 2008 R2.

I would like to set up a system FEFO (first expired first out) based on batch number based on the dates of Lapsed but since I struggle to put my request in place. The principle of my request is:

if amount of movement (QTEMVT)> = amount entered by the user via a user interface then withdraws the amount entered by the user in the batch (NUMLOT) the amount of movement of the item that lapses the first (execution of my request).
else if amount of movement (QTEMVT) <amount entered by the user
then the difference between the amount entered by the user and the amount of movement (QTEMVT) (execution of my request) and the following conditions:
the amount of movement (QTEMVT) = the amount of movement (QTEMVT) of this item stored in my database and the amount of movement (QTEMVT) <> 0
by taking the difference of the item requested directly from the batch (NUMLOT) of the item directly after lapses.

Basically I want to set up an item management query based on batch number and expiration dates.

ps: QTEMVT = quantity of the item stored in my database
NUMLOT = batch number items
DATFABRIC = manufacturing date items
DATPEREMP = expiry date items

Here is my request:

SELECT f.NUMLOT,f.DATFABRIC,f.DATPEREMP,f.QTEMVT
FROM FAIRE f INNER JOIN mouvement m ON f.CODMVT = m.CODMVT
INNER JOIN TYPE_MOUVEMENT tm ON tm.CODTYPMVT = m.CODTYPMVT
