Forms :: Auto Populate A Text Box Based On Selection Of A Combo Box
May 24, 2013
I have two tables: tblWeightTickets and tblWasteType.
I want to create a form: frmWeightTickets, where a user can enter information and the data is stored in tblWeightTickets.
There are two fields in particular that I am working on ... "WasteType" and "Rate".
On the form, I want "WasteType" to be a combobox "cboWasteType" and when I select a type of waste I want the "Rate" textbox on the same form to auto populate with the rate amount for that particular type of waste (i.e. recycling, garbage, etc).
The Rate amount is located in the table: tblWasteType under the field name "Rate". How can I do this and at the same time store the information in the tblWeightTickets? I already have the combo box loaded with the types of waste - I just need it to populate the rate text box and store it in the Weight Tickets table.
I am trying to populate multiple text boxes from combo box using one table. First text box is getting populate on base of combo box value while 2nd text box is not getting populating.
I have used the following to populate the text boxes, even row count is correct, But why is not 2nd text box is not populating ?
=[Combo2].[Column](1) =[Combo2].[Column](2)
One thing I noted when I provide the control source then selection gets stop from combo box...I am giving the valid control source is customerID but its not working.Could it be the reason ? Why selection gets stop from combo box when provide the control source ? If remove the control source then 1st text box is getting filled on basis of combo selection and 2nd text box value is not getting filled as describe above.
I'm creating a form that when the user selects the following categories in the same combo box (Date Received, Date Reviewed, Date kitted, In Work, Complete) it auto populates dates in the respective fields. As I mentioned, it's only one combo box. The dates will be spread out, so the user will change the combo box selection based on when these events occur. I already have a field for each category both on the table and form. Also, I do have multiple tables for other parts of data, but these categories all fall into the same table.
I have a form called frmPO based on a table called tblPO One of the fields in tblPO is linked to the field idAddress in the table tblAddresses
The following fields exist in both tblAddresses and tblPO Company Address1 Address2 City ZP State
The form contains controls for these fields on tblPO. I would like to give the user the choice to either enter a shipping address manually, or selecting a preregistered address from tblAdresses. For this I would like a combo box showing the values of idAddress. I f a user selects a preregistered shipping address, I would like the form to fill the rest of the fields based on the value of this control.
My understanding is that I should set a BeforeUpdate event to set the values of the different controls, unfortunately my command of VBA amounts to 0.
I am trying to build a form in the MoldReq section so when the user selects the mold number(combo box) it will auto populate the Part_Name and Part_No fields by pulling the data from the Molds table.
I have tried following this video where I create a change event:
Code: Private Sub cboCombo31_Change() Me.txtPart_Name.Value = Me.cboMold_No.Column(3) Me.txtPart_No.Value = Me.cboMold_No.Column(4) End Sub
I've got a Parent form (frmProspectDetails) with a subform linked (fsubProspectSkill).
This form is for users to enter general information on a prospect (names, position, height, weight, etc) on the parent form and skill levels on the subform.
Currently the subform is set so the user has to manually select the specific skill set for the prospects position, and then enter a value for each skill level(1-99).
I'm trying to get the subform to auto populate with a specific skill set based on the position selected in the parent form, so the user only needs to input the skill level without selecting each specific skill.
This data is then stored in a table (tblProspectSkill)
To add, I've created a form (frmPosition) that lists the specific skills set for each position.
I'm not sure how to get this subform (fsubProspectSkill) to auto populate with the specified skill set from frmPosition.
I want to create a text box within a form that automatically populates a contact number based on a selection from a combo box, also in the same form.
For example, I have a Bidders Table (tblTenders), this form includes information regarding the Tendor like the company name and a main contact within that company and a phone number for that contact.
I've created a separate table for all the contacts called tblContacts. This table holds all the contact information for each contact. I have a simple form called frmTenders that asks the user to input the Customer (which is the company who are bidding) and the Main Contact, which is a combo box to select the main contact from tblContacts. Below that combo box is a text box called 'Contact Number' - I want this box to display the contact number for the main contact automatically when a main contact is selected from the combo box.
The contact number text box isn't storing that information in any tables etc. It's just for viewing purposes when we need to make a call to that specific tender.
I have 5 combo boxes that all cascade into the next, and then when the last combo box is updated from the drop down list, it auto-populates a text box. My issue is that I have a second text box that needs to be auto-populated from the same data table based on what has been entered into the 5 combo boxes and the first text box. I've tried creating parameters and setting a lookuprecord macro in my main table and then using a returnvars RunDataMacro on the actual form, but it says, "Invalid list or query reference 'BillingDataQuery'." I'm not sure if it's because I'm not setting that RunDataMacro on the wrong combo box, or if I've written it incorrectly...
I did this same technique (based on directions in a post from this forum) on another combo box that populates five text boxes and it works just fine, but I don't know how to get this to work based on what's populated in 5 combo boxes to auto-populate the last text box.
I am trying to auto populate the text boxes in the form based on drop down from the combo box. As you can see in the form Frm_Input, this works fine for FL, but for some reason it will not populate for Skill, Role, FLM and Location. The table it is linking to is Tbl_Names. Why as I have changed the column source?
I am trying to populate the text boxes in a form with data from a table based on the selection a user has made in a combobox. I am trying to do this through a DLOOKUP in the text boxes Control Source using the following:
I have a Table (tblFPAData) that is being populated with entries from a form I created. There are several fields but if I can get an answer for one relationship then I can repeat it for the others.
In tblFPAData there are the fields MaterialNo and Description.
I am creating another table called tblSchedule and using a form to enter the information. I need the user to select the MaterialNo from a combo (cmbMaterialNo) and the then table auto populates the Description from tblFPAData.
I'm have quite a difficult time getting a form in Access 2010 to perform the way I would like it to. I have multiple tables that I've created, and a query that contains the data from the various tables. I then ran the form wizard to select the data from the query that I wanted to populate in my form and I've added 2 combo boxes.
What I want to do: 1. I want users to be able to select a category in combo box #1 (example: "Bag") 2. I want users to be able to select a detail in combo box #2 based on the category they selected in combo box #1 (example: Combo box #1, "bag" would populate the following selections for combo box #2: "sandwich" and "tool") 3. I want users to then receive a list of suppliers that provide the product they have selected, either "Bag: Sandwich" or "Bag: Tool"
I have combo box #1 populating a list of categories already. However, I am not able to get combo box #2 to provide choices based on the selection chosen for combo box #1.
I have a form that has a combo box in the header. I want to be able to select an employee name and the remaining info in the detail section of the form populate. My other fields are:
Employee Name - text box Reporting Unit - combo box Department - combox box Primary Phone - text box Secondary Phone - text box Emergency Contact Name - text box Relationship - text box Emergency Contact Primary Phone - text box Emergency Contact Secondary Phone - text box B-Alert Txt - combo box B-Alrt Phone - combo box e-mail - text box
I have an unbound combobox on a form that is used to filter the records of a subform based on who they have been assigned to. The combo box is based off of a query to the personnel table and utilizes a UNION querry to add the option "**ALL**" with a id number "111111" as the first option in the combo box.
In other words: the combo box has a list of names to choose from and the word "ALL" at the top as the first selection. The idea is that when "**ALL**" is selected, the subform should display all records regardless of who they have been assigned to. I'm trying to accomplish this with VBA. I've started developing the code to try to impliment this, however currently when "**ALL**" is selected, I'm getting a datatype missmatch that seems to be caused by my use of recordset.
I'm pretty new to this type of programming and i was hoping for a little help,
I have completed the majority of my program it's just a few little things i need to tweak.
The main thing is that i am trying to get a text box to autofill from a selection in a combo box i.e.
i have selected a drop down box with 3 coloums looked up from another table i would like 1 of the columns to stay in the combo box after selection and the other two to appear in the text boxes on the same page.
I have a Customers table and an Orders table. My Customers table is a bit different than the norm because I couldn't figure out any other way to do this.
My client's customers are either businesses (companies) with a contact person, or individual customers. So, in the Customers table, I have the following fields (there are others but do not apply to my problem):
Customer ID Company Contact Customer
So, if it is a company the data entry person would enter the company name and the full name (EX: Doe, John) in the contact field, but if it is an individual customer, then they would leave Company and Contact blank and enter just the Customer name (Ex: Doe, Jane).
So, in the Orders table, I have combo boxes for look ups for the fields Company and Customer.
That works okay, but I would really like for the Customer ID to post into a text box once the Company or Customer has been selected. In other words, the input person would enter the name, then it would show that Customer's ID #.
I have a form based on a query. On the form I have 4 comboboxes. The combo boxes filter eachother without a problem (based on custom select query). Now I want after the fourth combobox value is selected, I want to populate a text field with a value from a different column from the master query (after the 4 selections only 1 value should be possible)I try to say this easy.Master query contains 5 columns:
- group - type - job - insurance - charge
combo1 selects group (and filters records) combo2 selects type (from remaining records and filters again) combo3 selects job (from remaining records and filters again) combo4 selects insurance (from remaining records and filters again)
[code]....
This works great and the dropbox only shows 1 OF EACH DIFFERENT record...If I add a text box and want to see the "charge" value, that I thought I could use the ME.text-code. But in order to do this, I have to add the charge column into the query of Combo4.the dropbox for insurance gives me multiple values that are the same. Is there any way to make this work?
So, I have a form and I need it so that when one field is selescted, the other 2 auto fill based on my selection. The form is based off of a Table, "TblClient" and The fields are ClientID (PK), InventoryType, Policy, and DueDate.
I want the user to type in the ClientID, and then once they select InventoryType, Policy and DueDate are autofilled. I have another table, "TblData" that has the data for InventoryType and the coresponding Policy and DueDate associated with each one. So far, I have a combobox for InvnentoryType with a query for rowsource for InventoryType with the width of these additional columns to zero so they are not displayed in the combo. Then, I added unbound text boxes to my form (one for each additional field) and in the Control Source of those text boxes I put:
In the first unbound text box;
=[InventoyType].Column(2)
This worked for me, but now I realize that I want to give it the option that once these are autopopulated, they can be edited. For example, the policy most of the time is exactly the same for a certain inventory type, but sometimes, a word or two needs to be changed. Is this possible?
I have two forms - Main and StudentAdvisor (filtered by student ID#) SAdvisor.jpg
The main form originally had a combo box field to display advisor, the problem is that some students had multiple advisors during the course of their program. This problem was fixed by the creation of a StudentAdvisor (table/form) for recording ALL advisors. I set the form to display by newest term so the current advisor (or initial if no change) is the displayed record.
On the main form I then added "add" to open the StudentAdvisor form for entering information, and an unbound txtfield to display their current advisor (or initial advisor if no change).
The problem is I can not get the txtfield to display the information. I have managed to get the error ( #Name?)
Advisor Type 1=Initial, 2=Current, 3=Previous Changed 1=Yes, 2=N/A
so a record would record as: Initial and N/A Current and Yes Previous and Yes
I tried writing DLookup but could not get that to look up the combinations (above) and display either initial or current.
also tried pulling form SA = Advisor to form Main = txtAdvisor
For report purposes I need to know not only current advisor but how many were assigned during the program and also how many students each advisor was assigned during certain time frames.
I have a simple login form (really just an audit tracking form) that requires the person to enter in their email address and select an office number from a combo box. Essentially, upon first entry, they will put in their email address and select an office number. When they return to the database and put in their email, it will automatically populate the combo box.
I need the text box (EmailLogin) to do 3 things: update an EmailLogin field on a table called EmailLogin (which I already have it set to do), search a field called EMail in a table called Staff, and update a combo box (cboOfficeNumb) below it if it matches an entry from EMail on the Staff table with the field OfficeNumb.
I have the cboOfficeNumb updating the OfficeNumb field on both EmailLogin and Staff tables.I am unsure of how to use a Query to perform the search and use DLookup for the update of the cboOfficeNumb.I am okay with modifying the tables to remove OfficeNumb from the EmailLogin table, as it is really just tertiary.
How can I auto populate fields based on a payment term & amount?
example: client has 9 monthly payment of $150 term due every 15th of the month. (I would like it to be able to max out at 30 months)
So what I want to do is populate 9 monthly fields with dates and $150 payments fields next to it. Now, the payment fields even after auto populate, must be flexible in the sense for me to add a different amount just in case client makes an over payment that month too. In, addition I would like a check mark box to auto populate along if possible based on the 9 month term, this way I can manually check TRUE when payment is received in office.
I'm trying to build a database for daily work. My work in daily basis I have to fill all condition for several items.
We have two areas, with two locations under each area, and three systems under each location and each system contain more than 500 items.
I created all tables and fill by all information:
1-Table 1: Area 1, Area 2, Area 3, Area 4, Area 5, Area 6. 2-Table 2: Location 1, Location 2. 3-Table 3: System 1, System 2, System 3. 4-Table 4: all items under System 1-1-1 5-Table 4: all items under System 1-1-2
[Code] ....
Last table will be LogBook which will be as follow:
date l time l area l location l system l item l Conition1 l Conition2 l Conition3
My question regarding to the form of the above table:
How can I make a combo box for area field and when I select for example area1 will appear only the locations which under area1 in location field, and when I select location1 for example will appear only the systems under location1 in system field, and when I select system1 one for example will appear only items under system 1.Combo box list will be based on the selection in previous combo box and so on.
I am struggling to pull out a report based on the combo box selection. I have NOI database and want to pull out a report for a specific customer that how many NOIs are generated by this customer..
I have a separate table of customer and another table of NCRs and the customer information comes from customer table.
I have tried the below statement but gives me an error message:
code for Macro that pulls the report in click event:
[CustomerName]=[forms]![CustName]![combocust1]
do i need to mention the report as well in some where in report ?
- Form 2 to be locked but its "MaterialRequest" is enabled. - HandledBy to be unlocked if the MaterialRequest meets the "Status" of "frmMaterialRequest" which is "Approved".
I am having issues with my combo box populating values based on the selection from another combo box.
Database : contains 2 tables: Staff_List, Level_Type and a form called frm_Test The first combobox cboLevel gets its value from the Level_Type table with the select statement SELECT [Level_Type].[ID], [Level_Type].[Level_Type] FROM level_Type;
The values to be displayed on the second combobox cbo_Name is expected to be dependent on the Level selection made from the first combobox i.e if Level 1 is selected in cboLevel then only Names of people in Level 1 will be displayed in second combobox.
The select statement I put there is SELECT Staff_List.ID, Staff_List.Staff_Name FROM Staff_List WHERE ((([Staff_List]![Level])=[Forms]![frm_test]![cboLevel])); This is not displaying anything in the second combobox after I tried it in the Form view, just empty.
