Forms :: Refresh Current Form With Filtered Records

Sep 13, 2013

I have a form that displays records from a table.

When opened it displays all records (no selection yet).

I put would like to put 2 buttons to filter records (Male/Female).

I'm thinking of 2 possible options:

1-on click run a script that will close current form, then reopen it with selection criteria
2-directly apply a filter on the current form that would automatically refresh itself with the right records

Another (heavy, inelegant?) solution would be to create duplicates of this form. they would be loaded from separate queries that select the right records in either choice.

Forms :: Show Filtered Records On A Form

Oct 23, 2014

I want a form which allows data entry into a main table but also displays a list of records filtered from the same table. There is also an additional, calculated field displayed with the list.

The filter criteria are a date and a name, a list of which are in a separate table. They are separate fields for first and last name but i would like to filter with both and display them concatenated in the list.

Can A Refresh Button On A Form Remove The Current Filter.

Mar 5, 2006

hi, i have a search form, and when you double click on the record, it opens that record in my main form (which opens filtered)

this is fine because it displays the record that i want to see

however, when i try to perform other tasks on my main form, such as choosing the id from a combo box and finding that record, it wont work because the form is still filtered, one way to get around this is to open and close the form, but is there a way that i can implement something into my refresh button that removes a form filter.

Private Sub Refresh_Page_Click()
On Error GoTo Err_Refresh_Page_Click

DoCmd.DoMenuItem acFormBar, acRecordsMenu, 5, , acMenuVer70

Exit_Refresh_Page_Click:
Exit Sub

Err_Refresh_Page_Click:
MsgBox Err.Description
Resume Exit_Refresh_Page_Click

End Sub

Forms :: Search Bar Is Only Looking At Current Form And Not At Records

I have several forms in a navigation form. On all the forms, the little search bar at the bottom shows # of 103 records. On my navigation form it shows 1 of 1 and won't allow me to search. It would seem that the search bar is only looking at the current form and not at the records.

Forms :: Create Report From Only Records On Current Form

Oct 23, 2013

I have a continuous form based on a 'start date' - 'end date' query. I would like to be able to select certain records from this form to print.

I have added a 'print' field and have created a new query including this parameter which a report can be based on but when i run this report I am, of course, asked for the original 'start date' and 'end date' again.

Is there any way of linking the command button to only the records on the current form?

Forms :: Change A Field For All Records In Filtered Subform

Aug 3, 2015

I am currently developing a crude Contact manager database and need a quick way of entering data into a selection of records (around 1000 at a time). At the moment I am manually going through all records and changing the "DateLastEmail" field manually, which can be very tiring.

Any way to assign a button to change the field for all records to today's date or something of the like.

Currently I have a form which filters my subform. The subform resides as a seperate query and when the "Apply Filter" button is pressed it requeries with a change of .filter property, so I guess that all that needs to be done is to change all records that exist within the query, but I am stuck on a way to do this without manually entering it.

Forms :: Filtered Datasheet View - Select Records Without VBA

The table has PK and city column can be one of several. I need to create a filtered datasheet view (few columns only).

Since there are quite a few cities, I need to select one to display all the records in that city. My questions

Since it is a datasheet view I cannot use Combo Box. What to do then ?

If I use subform with a combo box, and bind the query in the subform with the selected combo text, it does not work.

here is the subform query

SELECT tblClient.ClientName, tblClient.HqCity FROM tblClient WHERE (((tblClient.HqCity)=[Forms]![frmSearchCity]![cboCity]));

I get nothing.....

Adding Records To Filtered Form.

Nov 1, 2005

Ok heres the problem, i seem to have a little bit of a mind block at the moment so help would be greratly appreciated.

Basically there are two tables involved, tblBikes (which contains all information on the bikes) and tblHires (which contains all the information about hired bikes) these are linked with a one to many relationship as each bike can be hired out many times.
I have a button on a form containing bike information which opens the hires form filtered by the bike ID of the record selected in the first form. When I add a record to the hires form i need the bikeID to be automatically input into the field.

Forms :: Diary Filter Not Returning Correctly Filtered Records

Sep 12, 2013

I have created a piece of code that filters a sub form of diary records using criteria the user has selected or entered. It was working fine when I made it a month or so ago and now is seems to be returning incorrectly filtered records, for example, I enter 2 dates to return all diary entries between the 2 dates. Yet it misses some records out that should be within the date range, and it sometimes include records that are outside the date range. I am also getting an error when I try and filter the diary entries via the supplier, "data type mismatch", here's the code that, bearing in mind, was previously working fine.

Code:
Public Function filter_diary()
Dim dbs As Database
'Dim qdf As QueryDef

Dim sqlstrwhat As String

Show Filtered Form Records In A Combo Box

Oct 17, 2006

This sounds like a cascading combo box issue but it isn't quite.

I filter my form using 2 unbound combo boxes which can be used in any order, both of which define text strings using case select. These strings are concatenated into a filter text and applied by a routine called in the after update event of either combo. All works well.

My question: How can I show all the filtered records in a third combo box so that users can easily select the record of interest from the filtered set?

I attempted to define SQL for each combination of the 2 comboboxes but it was getting ludicrously complicated so that got the heave ho.

After that, I attempted to use a recordset clone, but I couldn't get this to work:
'Clone record set for combo box rowsource
Dim R As Recordset
Set R = Me.RecordsetClone
R.Bookmark = Me.Bookmark

'Populate combo box with recordset
With Me![cboProjectList]
.RowSource = R
.Requery
End With

Reading the Access help, it seems that a combo box can only be populted via query, table or SQL. Is there any way of using a cloned recordset or the me.filter to show the filtered form records in a combo or list box?

I will be very grateful for any pointers.

REFRESH Combo Boxes For Records On Continous Form

Jul 7, 2005

Background:
I have a continous form linked to a table and I have 3 combo boxes on the
form (linked to fields on the table). The combo boxes are called JOB TITLE,
SCHEDULE and SHIFT. The source for the combo boxes are queries named
respectively as LKUPJOB, LKUPSCHEDULE and LKUPSHIFT. For the three combo boxes listed abpve, the bound column is the first field of the underlying query and the column width of the first field is set to 0" (so that the second field of the query is displayed).

The way things should work is that for each record on the form, the
LKUPSCHEDULE and LKUPSHIFT queries (queries for the SCHEDULE and SHIFT combo boxes), the queries are filtered based on the bound field of the JOB TITLE combo box. The name of the bound field for the JOB TITLE combo is called Labor_Rate_ID.

Problem:
Unfortunately, It seems like the value of the labor-rate_ID in the first
record (i.e. first job title combo box) determines the query list used by the
SCHEDULE and SHIFT comboboxes for all the other records on the form. That is, even though the form has lots of records displayed, the combo boxes for each record don't have a complete list to work with.

Hence, the SCHEDULE and SHIFT combo boxes for some records are showing a blank (since available otions in the combo query list don't match the value
in the table for that record.

Can anybody tell me how to get a continous form to refress the list for each
record on the form.

I also don't know whether the Requery command for a macro could work and how to use it. I think though, that this problem can't be solved by a macro.

Basically, the question is around what kind of code will let you manipulate the properties of individual controls of a form at the Record level.

Forms :: Database To Record Appointments - Filtered Lists On A Form?

Oct 18, 2014

I'm constructing a database to record appointments. I want my users to input their appointments on one half of a form (I can manage that bit) but on the other half I want them to be able to see a list of the appointments they already have booked that day (with any patient) or what the patients already have booked that day (with themselves and any other therapists).

The appointment fields they will need to see are:

start time
end time
patient/therapist (depending on if they are viewing their own or the chosen patients' appointments
type of appointment (physiotherapy etc)
location

The date won't need to be seen but will dictate which day's appointments are listed.

At it's simplest I could get away with a list of the day's appointments for the patient and date the therapist has typed into the form to start the record.

Ideally I'd like them to be able to choose whether to see a list of the patient's appointments for that day or their own. If there's room I would display both.

Here's the final, 'moon-on-a-stick' bit... it would be great if I could show the appointments in time slots rather than just as a list. From what I can tell that's quite tricky to pull off but i thought I would ask anyway...

At the moment I don't even know what keywords to look up - is this 'embedding a report in a form' or 'inserting a filtered list' and so on.

Forms :: Refresh Form That Is Already Opened

Mar 17, 2013

I have forms that show commitments by Client, by Cost Centre, by Provider etc.

If I add new commitments or edit commitments it is done through the Commitments by Client form, as all other forms lead back to this one.

To create a new or edit an existing commitment, it is done through a Commitment Form, which goes into a query (query A)which does all the calculations. My client form has subforms based on Query A, however my other forms (commitments by Cost Centre etc) have subforms which have querys that are based on Query A . I hope that made sense.

My problem is that If I edit a commitment, the client form and subforms refrlect the changes imediately, even though they are open and I can see them changing when I change the commitments. However the other ones don't unless I close them and re-open them.

My navigation within the database is based on once a form has been opened it is set to be invisible untill called on again (i.e. visible = False).

How to requery all the forms without having to close them.
