Forms :: Web Browser Control Leaves Process Running After Quitting Application
Jul 1, 2014
I'm on Access 2010
I am using a web browser control on one of my forms The problem is that when I close my application down, after using the form with the wbc, an access process keeps running in the background. More severe: every time I start my app again and close it, another access process is added to the processes that are already running.
I have a form with a tab control, inside the tab control I placed an ActiveX control (Microsoft Web Browser). These are at the bottom of the form.
Everything displays fine if the entire form fit on the screen but if the form is too long and I scroll down the browser control is getting obscured by the tab control and getting chopped off (the contents are covered). It is as if the browser control is staying in space where it was and moving behind the tab control as I scroll.
This problem does not occur if I place the browser control directly on the form. Also I note that the browser control is sitting correctly within the tab control.
I have been through all the settings and properties of both controls and haven't been able to fix it. I searched all over the web but no one has previously stumbled across this one by the look of it.
I'm trying to use the Access 2010 web browser control to dynamically show a PDF.
The base file path is a constant (R:MS_ACCESS_PROJECTSSAFETYIMAGESMSDS SHEETS)
and the dynamic part is two fields from the selected record:
me.txtMsdsID & "." & me.txtVersion
what is the simplest way to "bind" this so that when a record changes it automatically refreshes this control? I've tried setting it with VBA, but it's not working consistently.
I know the issues isn't the file path, as it works fine if I paste it in windows explorer.
I have a small database application which is split in fe and be. Its running fine and i have been making changes to the front end regularly and replacing the file on server successfully with no problems, But today i edited some forms and reports and afterwards i ran it on a client in access runtime produced the on click event error ( which is on log in form which is a startup form ). Its working fine in full version of access even on the server but couldn't log in because the clicking on login button display the error. See attached image.
I have a form that loads when the database is open, and the form has buttons etc. that leads to queries and reports in the database. (Queries open in a form). Since most queries take a while to load, I was wondering if there is a way to Pop up a message box stating "Please Wait, Query is running..." (or something like that), and once the form opens the MsgBox should close automatically. (The user should not have to hit Ok button.)
Most users of this database would have restricted access such that they would not have navigation pane and toolbar visible - hence I want to make it a touch more interactive when a process is running...also if someone is new to access they might not notice that taskbar status and I don't want them thinking the program is stuck etc..
I have constructed an application in Access2010 that uses the ActiveX WebBrowser Control.I am using the Web Browser control to navigate a website that only allows one session at a time and normally (if using a regular web browser) if you close the tab you're working on, you have to completely close the browser and reopen it to be able to acces the website again.
I have this application on 2 networks.
On PC
A) when using the WebBrowser control I can navigate to the site. But if I need to navigate away or need to log in as a different account on the site, I can close an reopen the form and that will suffice to regain access to the site.
However on PC
B) it will not allow me to navigate back to the site by closing and reopening the form (the website recognises it is not a new session). I have to close the entire database and reopen it to get the site to work again.
I would very much like PC B) to be behaving in the same manner as PC A) so that I do not have to tell users to restart the whole database in order to reaccess the site.
I have an Access application which was written on Access 2.0. I need to run it (as is). I saw that it was possible to run it using some kind of Access 2.0 runtime environment - my client uses the following command to run the application:
Msarn200.exe application.mdb /ini application.ini
Where can I get this MSARN200? Do I have to find the Access 2.0 installation itself?
Something odd is happening here. After I open and close a recently installed .mde application, I open a previously working .mdb file. It now runs exactly like a .mde file with limited menu items, etc. The only way I can get the .mdb file working again properly is to reinstall office 2000. Could it be that the newly installed .mde application is a higher version and therefore, somehow corrupts the mdb application. I need help.
I have access 2003 and I package my application with Access runtime. Users do not have access installed in their computers.
The problem the users have is, they cannot Copy/Cut/Paste from the textbox controls in the application..The same application when I run using my full version of Access 2003, I can cut/paste...
Is there a way to fix it without having to get full version of access ? or I have to live with it because I use access runtime.
I want to run an external application (a batch file) ... and want to run it by clicking on a command button on a form. That part is all fine, using the Shell command. I can determine the start time of the application (also fine with now() function) .. but want to find out how long the external application ran and log that "run time" into my database.
The part I don't know about is the .. really the ending time. How do I determine how long the application really ran for / ended ? I imagine I can use datepart to determine the difference in the start and end times. Or would I use a timer control. (but I cannot find the timer control in Access 2010).
I'm not sure if I am biting off more than I can chew. I have a text field in each record in my database (Inherited) The db has nearly 5,000 records. I would like to split the field into records in a seperate table. An Example of the table as is now;
Is this possible in one hit or do I need to process the records without dates first and then run another process to split those with Dates? I say dates but the field is a text field. About 15-20% of the records contain dates which are always enclosed in parenthesis.
I have a form that displays a html document in a WebBrowser object. This displays fine on screen but shows up blank when printing the form. Is there any way to get this to appear on the print? I know you can right-click on the object and select "print" to print the contents of the object but ideally I'd like the page to print in the context of the form. Is this possible?
I have a series of 7 separate Access 2010 programs that are designed to run under the control of a scheduler, and they must always finish. Errors are trapped and logged but mustn't stop the processes completing.
What I'm trying to do now is to create a single master control program that runs each individual application, one after the other, in order. And each individual app cannot start until the previous one is finished.how to call a separate Access program and know when it has finished.
Hopefully just a simple one??? I am using a popup form to input data into a display form which is on one page of a tabbed control. The display form updates through an afterupdate requery command. This all seems to work OK but when I enter the new record via the popup form then close it, it leaves a greyed out space and I lose input ability. I need to close down and when opened up all records are OK. If I drag the popup box on the screen it leaves a grey trail behind it. Any ideas on what could be the problem?
I have a POS system, packaged with Access Runtime, running on a PC and have developed a database system to provide additional function. I have no documentation to the names of the Forms or Controls in POS. My ADDON system does link to the POS Tables and has some Tables of its own.
At the time in the POS system where the cashier checks out the customer, they need to AltTab to my ADDON system to enter some information for the customer. They remember to CustomerKey from the screen on the POS system and key it into a Form Control in my ADDON system.I want to, from my ADDON system, read the value of the CustomerKey in POS and fill it in so the cashier does not need to remember/type it.
Is it possible to get the data from another already running Access database?I don't know the name of the control. Is it possible to run through a list of Forms and Controls in the POS system from my ADDON system?
I do know the name of the field in the Table and expect it to be current and might have to get that?Failing all that, is there a Collection of running Access databases? I could go through its Forms and Controls one time looking for what i want.
I am considering the possibility of revamping the employee onboarding & off-boarding process for our organisation to make it more efficient.
Current State: We use InfoPath forms in SharePoint Servers 2010 to handle onboarding/employee change/off-boarding requests submitted by the related department. With the Workflow process, the respective manager will receive email to approve the requested intake form and once it is done, the form will be assigned to someone in the business support team for processing. Once all the required logistics are completed, we shall enter the new hire's profiles into our MS Access employee database through an employee input form.
It works well although it seems like a duplication of work since the support team has to manually input the employee information, which is already captured on the InfoPath form, into the Access database. We also need to align the field options (such as data on drop down lists) in the InfoPath form with similar field on the input form in the database whenever there are new field added or changes made on existing fields.
Future State: I wonder if there is a way in Access to set up a similar request/approval process so that we can get rid of the InfoPath form when the requester can input the employee information on a onboarding intake form in Access with data stored in a temporary table. After the request is approved and subsequently completed by the business support team, we can say, click a button and transfer the employee data from the temporary table to the employee table. Of course, some sort of validation rules should apply before the transfer takes place to ensure data integrity.
I think the major challenges would be to build an approval process within Access to provide similar notification features as from InfoPath.
I know this might be a wild thinking but just want to look for possible options to save manual work and improve the efficiency of our process.
When the user enters the quantity they require into the orders form I would like to deduct it from the quantityinstock field in the products table.
The above query does work if you add the following code to the beforeupdate event of the orders subform: If Me.NewRecord Then DoCmd.SetWarnings False DoCmd.openquery "qryupdateQuantityinStock" DoCmd. Setwarnings True End If
Although I wanted the query to run from a button (confirm order) on the order form so that the user decides when to deduct the stock.
I cannot put a button onto the orders subfrom where the query should run from and if I place the code on a button on the main orders form it only deducts one order (one product) and not all products on the order.
Can you help me find a way to run the query from a button?
I have read through the threads and found lots of information on stock control, although have not yet found anything similar to this problem. I understand that this is not the correct way to do stock control, although my database is for academic purposes and only requires a simple stock control system.
Any help would be greatly appreciated (sorry for the long post!). :)
I have a form that has five subforms on it. On Open all the subforms are unbound (so i can prevent the queries from running before the On Open event to speed up). Then i can enter my criteria for all five subforms in txtbox and click run. After I establish the source object for the subforms, i cannot establish the controlsource for several text boxes that pull the data from the subform, i get #Name?. her is a sample from the on click event... the top links the unbound subform and the bottom should then link a control in the subform to a control on the main form.
Me.Child167.SourceObject = "query.RP Sum Fuelman F1" Me.Text71.ControlSource = "=[RP Sum Fuelman F1 Subform]![cntRecords]"
I have several queries that perform an audit on data. I want to create a form that has two buttons, multiple labels and textboxes. When the first button is pressed, it runs all queries and returns a count of the records within each query into the corresponding textbox. Then I want a a button that will clear all textboxes. I don't want to see the queries, I just want them to run in the background and the count results to be populated in the textboxes.
I have an access form (Customer) along with a sub-form (Work_done). On sub-form I have Running sum of Amount in Text box-1. I want that Total of Running sum be replaced with Main form's tables field total_amount. Is it possible that we can replace an amount of control of sub-form into main form's field?
it is possible to Open access application like desk application done with java or vb, or install access application as exe or similar methods. My requirements is to giving a access application to customer with data base for printing an invoice. when he running the aplication he can see access open and tables, queries forms left hand. how to hide these thing ?
I added a new field to one of my tables and query, but when I try to add a control for that field into my form it is not recognising it and the field isn't appearing in the sources for the form, even though the table is sourced to the form? Or am I going to have to do the usual and redo the entire form because I made a minor adjustment?
We have an extensive reporting application in Access and would like it to be available through a web application. I've went down the road of migrating this application to SQL to use SQL Reporting Services; this is a good tool but I am wondering if MS Access has an easier solution for me other than migration to SQL.
I'm looking for a solution that will make these reports available over the web for many users. Price tag is a consideration...need to know if there is any.
Please help...thanks in advance for any thoughts!!!!
