Jul 5, 2013My issue is that I am trying to update a date field. When I do the date field may have a date or may be a null. When I try to pass in a NULL date with no quotes, I get a syntax error. When I have single quotes in the statement and a null value is passed in, I get an invalid use of date.

May 9, 2006I would like a MsgBox to pop up for the user if the Priority field is blank and the box count is not. I tried doing this on the report but the report will just not run. So I considered adding a module to the query.
However, I get a Data type mismatch. Below is the module and query. Can someone help me with this?

Modules & VBA :: Null Value Filtering Syntax

But after the "Me.[Username]" part, I want it to also filter to only show me data that has null values on a column called "PN".Alternatively, I also need a code that instead of only showing me data that has null values, I want it to show me data that excludes the data with null values on the column called "PN".
Modules & VBA :: Creating New Field In A Table With New Date - Result Type Is NULL Error
Sep 23, 2014I'm new to programming with Access but am attempting to create a new field in a table with an new date based on existing fields in the table.
The current fields are [Frequency], integer, [Risk], text, [Last Audit Date], date/time, and the new field is [Next Audit Date]. [Frequency] is a calculated field based only on [Risk] and is equal to "5" if [Risk] is "Low" and is "3" is [Risk] is "Medium" or "High", and [Frequency] is blank if [Risk] is (thus far it has never been empty).
What I need the new calculated field to do is return "N/A" (or blank, or anything easily separated really) if [Frequency] is blank, or if [Risk] is "Low" or "Medium". If [Risk] is "High", [Next Audit Date] should be equal to [Last Audit Date] plus 3 years. When I try to save the code, I get this message: "The expression could not be saved because its result type, such as binary or NULL, is not supported by the server."
This is my code now:

Counting Dates And Null Values In Charts
Nov 29, 2007Hi, I searched the forum for this but the only thread that came close to what I was looking for was this.

Basically I have chart in a report thats based on a query that counts the amount of entries per month between two dates inputted by the user.
It all works fine but the chart that is based on the query only shows months that have an entry.
Eg if it counts all dates between the two dates and say the only month that has an entry is July, the chart will only show July. What I want is the other months to show (Null values) as zero, so every month shows. I'm probably missing something basic but can anyone help?
[TextPriDate] is the start date

Field Criteria: Is Null; There Are Null Values In That Field; No Records Are Returned
Nov 16, 2007I think the title pretty much sums it up....
I have a query where data is first sorted by user input; first field's criteria: [fieldname], then by another field's criteria: Is Null.
I know there are records containing null values in the second field, as I have run a select query with the criteria: Like "*", to make sure they are null, and not zero-length-strings.
The query is refusing to return any results...
Any ideas?
Syntax Error
Mar 2, 2007On my form I have 2 radio buttons rdoAll and rdoSpecific. If rdoAll is true then it prints a report. THis part works fine. However if rdoSpecific is true then I make visable combo box to look up an ID. Then when I click the button I want the same form to open but with just the info pertaining to the ID selected. Here is my code:

the 020806B1585 is my ID number.
Debug hightlights the
DoCmd.OpenReport stDocName, acViewPreview, , stSelection
but I'm guessing my real problem lies in the
stSelection = "[LotID] =" & Me![cboLotLU]
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Syntax Error
Sep 12, 2005I have a function that builds a filter and it get a syntex error. It has three components and I must be missing something in combining them into the filter. SpecID and ReviewID are numbers. Selected is a checkbox and 'Yes' is a string. Can anyone see the source of the Syntax Error?

Syntax Error
May 5, 2005I use the following code in the After Update Event of the field Lastname to check for a possible duplicate record:

And it works well.
In case an existing record is found, I want to jump to it.
I tried using the following code, but it gives a syntax error

Mar 9, 2005can someone help me here? i'm trying to get a few selected employee from two tables, namely EmployeeParticulars and ProjectAllocation. EmployeeParticulars contained all the employees in the company whereas ProjectAllocation has two fields (PID - the project and EmpID - the employee who is allocated). One project consist of many employees.
Ok, let's move on to my problem now. I'm trying to get those employees who are not involved in a current project. i tried this
Code: Select Emp.Name from EmployeeParticulars Emp, ProjectAllocation Pro where Emp.EmpID <> Pro.EmpID
but it doesnt work. instead in returns me all the employees in the EmployeeParticulars table and on top of that, each employee appears 21 times!(this 21 i believe is from the 21 employees for this particular project) So, it actually runs 21*27(no of employees) = 546 times!
i was supposed to use != but i realise it doesnt not work in MS Access so i used this <> instead. however it does not give me what i want. Can someone assist me please.

I cannot figure out what the syntax error is. Anyone have an insight on this for me? Most likely something easy that I am missing.

I've got two completely separate databases, for both of which I need to be able to print a single form at a time. No problem there, a report and a bit of code solved that - but only for one of them! This is the successful one:

I can't for the life of me figure why one works but not the other. I've checked and treble-checked that I've got exactly the right document names. The report is "Change Proposal Print"
The form is "Change Proposals"
The form field criterion is "Issue No" (without an underscore in this one.)
What operator could possibly be missing in the second one, but not the first? Am I being very dense? Can anyone out there help? (Am I asking too many questions in a whiny voice?) :confused:

DLookUp Syntax Error Help

I have a table called "ShrinkWrapBinding" where I am supposed to look up a "Price" from. As you see in the code below, I calculate a "totalPackages" number which comes from values in a form. My problem is that when I try to use this value (totalPackages) on the DLookUp function (as seen in this code) it gives me a syntax error exactly on the totalPackages variable. Please note that I added single quotes to the 'totalPackages' variable when I use it on the DLookUp function, and have tried every possible combination (single quotes, double quotes) but still doesn't work. What is it that I'm doing wrong?

Syntax Error From Clause

Found this here and was trying to do the following. Delete rows in my table that are dupicates and put them into a new table.
Keep getting a syntax error.
SELECT DISTINCT * FROM tblRaw INTO tblClientcontacts
Anyone know why?
I have a table that has 12,000 rows. Out of those rows are 1600 uniques. I need to delete all the duplicates. Is this a way to do it?

Syntax Error In IIF Statement

Can you have IIF statement in the query expression? because it said "Syntax
