Tables :: Field Size Set To Double - 0.5 Is Input But Table Says 2
Dec 20, 2013
I have a form that utilizes a combo box with 2 options: 0 & 0.5. If I select 0.5 on the combo box the field in the table records it as 2. Why doesn't it reflect as 0.5? And how do I fix it?
This is the general info that I have for the field properties:
Field Size - Double
Decimal Places - 1
Default Value - 0
For some reason I cannot enter decimal values without the number rounding up or down. I've already set it to 'Number' and 'double' and have also tried 'Fixed' set to 2 decimal places. Right now the only way it works is if I set it to 'Text'. However I need to do some calculations with these values eventually.
What's strange is I have another table in the same database that is NOT rounding and is working just fine.
I created a table and some of the fields are shown as Memo however when I imported an Excel database some of the info was cut short in the memo fields! Some of the fields will have ten pages of typed content although it will be well spaced out.
Is it possible to set a double input mask for a field? I would to set it so users can eneter two different values for data field: 00/00/0000 or just the year 0000, is it possible? How do I do that?
is there any way to increase the size of the text field beyond the 255 character limit? I'm creating an incident report and its diffilcult to summarize an accident in less than 255 characters.
I have this database where I want to change the field size from 9 to 4 but I want to keep the last 4 digits not the first 4 digits. Is there a way to make that change?
From a table I want a text field which has a path to a file to be copied automatically into a another field of the same table with a hyperlink text type...
how to set the Field Size in a new Table. I need the user to be able to type in 17 characters (as in a vehicle VIN). I don't want the user to have the ability to type in anything less than 17 characters or anything more than 17 characters.
Will keeping your field size shorter result in a smaller MDB file?
Or does Access only use as much space as there is real data in its fields.
Way back in the dBASE III days, dBASE would pad all your "real" information with as many spaces as necessary to fill up your field. I suspect that the MDB structure is probably smarter than that.
Another question on the same topic - I believe there is a maximum number of characters in a record (4000?). Can your field sizes add up to more than 4000, as long as the actual data, all combined, never totals 4000...? Thanks............ ..dc
I have the following input mask for a certain field in an ACCESS 2010 table : 00-000-a-a-a;0;-
It works fine. That is when I tab down to it and if I know that the format is : xx-xxx-x-x-x
but if someone does not know the format , things can be out of position.how do I code the field such that the format (xx-xxx-x-x-x) is displayed in the input field awaiting the actual keying of the data?
I have tried the masks 1/####;; , "1"/####;; 1/####;; , "1"/#### , '1'/#### but none work as if the first nubber entered is a 1 it replaces the 1 in 1/
If it is a 2 then it works fine.
I can set the 1 to and f (f/) and it works no problem.
I have a table, at the table I'v got these fields:
ID | num1 | num2 | sum
I want that the user put numbers at 'num1' and 'num2' fields and then the 'sum' field will calculate automatically the operator (sum=num1+num2).
I've tried to put any combination at 'Default value' of the sum field (all the fields are numbers , also tried to change the sum field to text...nothing works).
I'm getting a message that 'num1' field is not recognize at the table
(I tried =[num1]+[num2], without the '=', num1.table+num2.table , ...nothing works)
I also tried to do it with SQL command but it dosn't work.
There is any way to do it, is it possible? Or other way to do it at least at Form or at Report ?
I saw a demo that the user could copy and paste a JPG format file physically to ACCESS, and then something happened, and ACCESS could read the JPG length and width size (e.g. 1.3 meter length and 1.15 meter width) into 2 individual ACCESS cells which is acted the same as user input to that 2 clells.
I'm quite new to Access and am just working on a little practice database where I keep track of sales of a product. Basically I have a table keeping track of the different types of products, a table keeping track of customers, a table for orders and one for replenishments of stock. I have a query that calculates the stock of each type of product based on replenishments and sales.
Now I want to make sure that a customer can't order any more than there is in stock. I know you can restrict what's entered into a table with a validation rule but that's only for static restrictions. After searching the internet for an answer I've pretty much learned that I can't really make this restriction directly in the table, correct? But then how can I achieve this? Do I have to restrict the amount through a form somehow?
I Have a field called appointment date and i have set the input mask as short date 00:00;0;_
the data type for the field is date/time but for some annoying reason this error message appear when I enter a date to the table... which for example is written like this 01/03/2003
Is there an easy way to get user input like the parameter value box in an update query, where you want the user to specify the table name and field name to run the query on?
I need to create a field in an input form that is simply the concatenation of two other text fields. I have tried all sorts of things, but when I look at the data in the table that field.
I have a field called ID that I want to be created like this:
=Format([UniqueID],"00000") & "-" & [Mosque]
This works well in my output fields, but does not work the same way on the input form. It needs to be based on the currently input values from the current record. Anyone have any ideas?
I have 3 peices of data that I am working with: Group number, plans and benefit elections. On my form I have fields for the group number and plan and 2 queries. When I enter a group number the first query displays a list of plan descriptions for that group. From there I can enter the plan description into the form's plan field and that runs the second query to give me a list of valid elections for that plan. This all works fine but I want to make the plan selection a little less tedious. What I would like is to be able to double click the query field housing the plan description and have it copied to the form's plan field. I could use the ID instead of the plan description but I work in a production environment and very key stroke counts so I would really like to have a simple double click process.
Is this even possible? If so how would I set that up? I tried using the double click on event macro builder but it does not seem to have this kind of option.
My form contains fields for group number and Plan. The same form houses 2 querys, one that pulls plans based on the group number and the other to pull elections based on the plan field (not the plan query). Would like to double click a plan within the plan query and have that description populated into the form's plan field.
Ok. I have tables vinculate to ORACLE, the primary key of Oracle is double, from Access of query return one number rounding 1,00000902026541907589E+20 this is the problem, in query i have this funtion: IIF(isnull([CAMPO1]);[CAMPO2];[CAMPO1]) this return one number ok field(CAMPO1) and other bad(CAMPO2 it's rounding). I need that return this query two doubles. example:
bad - 1,00000902026542E+20 = 100000902026542000000 ok - 1,00000902026541907589E+20 = 100000902026541907589
i already make this sql for dlookup table for may insert button, all going good, but when i'm going to make double command with different msg box for different criteria, it going fail
1. This my Working code:
If Me.txtidborang.Tag & "" = "" = (DLookup("NoGerankod", "HutangKeseluruhan", "NoGerankod='" & Me.txtnogeran & "'")) Then MsgBox "Grant Number Invalid", vbOKOnly Me.[cbostatuspembayaran] = "Geran Negatif" CurrentDb.Execute "INSERT INTO Januari (bla..bla..bla..) End if
2. This my not working code:
If Me.txtidborang.Tag & "" = "" = (DLookup("NoGerankod", "HutangKeseluruhan", "NoGerankod='" & Me.txtnogeran & "'")) Then MsgBox "Grant Number Invalid", vbOKOnly Me.[cbostatuspembayaran] = "Geran Negatif" If Me.txtidborang.Tag & "" = "" = (DLookup("NoMatrikkod", "HutangKeseluruhan", "NoMatrikkod='" & Me.txtukmper & "'")) Then MsgBox "This Student still have debt ", vbOKOnly Me.[cbostatuspembayaran] = "Geran Aktif"
CurrentDb.Execute "INSERT INTO Januari (bla..bla..bla..)
End if End if
Q: How can i combine two dlookup together for different msg box?
I am creating a database to keep up with the expenses for my art business. I have a table for Vendors with a field (Mileage) for one-way mileage that I enter manually (EX: 11.8 miles). Then I have a calculated field that basically just multiplies the Mileage field times two to get total mileage to and from my house to vendor location. (Total Miles) {The reason I want to do this this way right now is because I didn't keep up with my mileage this year and I am having to look up the distance from my home to each location)
Then I have a "supplies" table where I show the date, the vendor, the item, cost, etc, and I want to add a Total Mileage field based on the calculated Total Miles field in the Vendors table that will automatically populate based on the vendor of each transaction. I just can't remember how to make this work and I know just enough SQL to be dangerous.
