I have set up security my users. What I am wanting to do is when the record has been modified or changed it displays the user that is signed in as making the change. I have Time and Date set up this way. How can I have the user displayed as well.
Here is my problem. I have a table with a lot of columns. I want the user to be able to select which column he wants to display in a query/report, how do I do that? Is there some kind of way to do a command
SELECT [table].[like [user input]]
either in SQL or Query Design, so that a form would pop up and ask user for input, and then display column whose name corresponds to that input.
I am looking for a way to customize fields to be hidden or not depending on user in forms or reports.
Any idea ?
I wanted to explore the customisation of each query but there must be an easier way to save personal parameters somehow so that the user would go through the forms and hide the non necessary fields once and we would then save somewhere these settings for each user.
I am currently working on small access 2010 database where the database consists of a table and one input form. This input form will be mainly used by two persons. In the form there is a dropdown where one selects his name to keep record who entered the data, however I would like this to be according the logged in domain account. This will make sure none of them selects the wrong user by mistake.
Is there a way how get the current logged on domain account into the form ?
how to display the user's record or database after he/she login in on the system. Currently I have a database where in the user enters his username and password. But the I dont know how can I make his records display after login.
I have generated a standard form for displaying/editing of data and I have also created a form for generating Sql query statements (The form builds a string but does not execute the query). Can I execute a query and use it with that form.
So when I generate the the SQL statement and execute the query it loads the form (With Data) instead of a query datasheet. Thank you.
I have a field that is pre filled in with a value. The name is "Business".Then there is a combo box with various values. If the user would select a value that does not match with values that can be selected if in "business" a value is selected, it should show a message that the selection is wrong and user needs to select the correct one.
Example:If in the field "Business" the value "Food" is selected, then the possible values to be selected in the combobox would be: Fruit or Meet or Fast Food. If the value in "Business" would be "Wood" only selections could be made: Talble or Chair or Cabinet. So, if a user select "Food' in "Business" and in the combo box "Chair", it should show a message that the wrong selection was made and don't let them use the wrong one.
I have a form with multiple textboxes and comboboxes that allow for user entry, and a subform displaying a table, where the entries from the form are saved and can be retrieved. It's basically a way of creating new task entries and editing existing ones from a single interface.
One of the fields is an "issue number" of sorts, which is a 5-digit code that identifies the task. We have a website where details of each task are stored, and the URL format is akin to this: [URL] ....
The functionality that I'm hoping for is that when the user saves the record, it will be saved as the full link address, by concatenating the static first portion of the address and the code entered by the user. However, I need the table to still only display the code, not the whole link address, and will follow the full address when clicked in the subform table.
How to use combo box that drops down the date received from which the user can select todisplay "receipt form" on and after that date. [need to use macro]
I am building a form in access and I am trying to find a way where user input isn't possible in the associated textbox when "No" from on option box is selected.
I've seen different log in forms and tips on multi-user use but can't seem to find info on the following...
We have 6 people at work and I'd like to assign which user updated a form or created a new record...this would be particularly useful on the sales part of the database to track who made a call to a particular customer...
I have a multi user database in Access 2000 that is on a server. The individual users have shortcuts pointing towards the server instance. One user and one user only when opening the shortcut gets the error "you do not have exclusive rights to the database" .
All other users can enter the database with no error box. I have checked the advanced setting under options and they are correct. Ironically if you go to start and open access then navigate to the database shortcut. It opens with no error.
I have two tables. The first contains details of a budget holders money allocation for a given period, and the other tracks their spend on products over that period. How can I generate a query to calculate the total running spend for each user from the "budget spend table" that will be written into the users record in the "budget allocation table".
My aim is to show details of budget allocation, total spend to date and remaining budget for each user in an Order form / report.
Can anyone please advise me on how to do this or suggest another way of doing it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have a database for mutli users which is split. Front end is available separately for 3 users. These users make data entry in the same form from their front end form. This particular form has combo box that retrieves data based on selection in combo box and the use starts filling the data in the subform. Upto this, form is Ok, no problems seen.
But when the second user opens the same form from the split database front end stored in his computer, and once the second user selects another record from the combo box, first user's record also changes immediately to the record of Second user. Both users now have the same record even though the form is separately accessed from front end.
Will like to check, i have a access database which can be open up by a few users.
How can i only allow the first user who open up the database to read and write the database and the follow users who open up the access have only read access?
I have a form that displays minutes. When the minutes are 9 or less it displays as, e.g. 9 instead of 09.
How do I get that leading zero to display?
I read in previous posts that one way was to format as text or date, but I don't want to do that bc the minutes are added up on form save/close.
I have a point system. What I want it to do is, when the points field reaches 55 I need for the Congrats field to display “Congratulations you are now eligible to advance to the next peer group”
I have a Yes/No field in my table - I would like to display the words in a report instead of the checkmark. How would I display this in a query or report?
I need some help building what I believe is called a user end. I'm done building the tables and forms and all that jazz, now I need an interface that my boss, who knows nothing about access, can easly access and manipulate data. Of course it would be nice if I'd look nice. Is there anybody who can help or can give me link to a decent tutorial.
I already searched these forums and googled for help.
i plan to use the Group security feature for my DB.... using the user ID and password... i also want to make use of the user ID in the autopopulating of some of the field in my forms.... if for an instance the person logged in is akshal... then the a particular field named "filled in by" is to be autopopulated by the user ID (i.e. akshal)
Can someone direct me to help with setting up User rights? I've always been the only user, but now I have multiple people working from my database and want to limit there authorizations. Also, is it possible to have someone actively using the database while I continue to make changes for forms and reports?
