Loading Data Into SQL Server From A SAS Dataset

Jul 20, 2005

Hi,

SQL Server 2000 SP3

Has anyone ever successfully loaded data into SQL Server from a SAS
dataset. I have tried using DTS and SAS OLE DB drivers but get the
following error

Error Description:
A provider specific error occurred (%1:%2)

Context:
Error calling GetRowSet to get DBSCHEMA_TABLES schema info. Your
provider does not support all the schema rowsets required by DTS.

It does seem to me to be a problem with the OLE DB providers but if
anyone has seen this issue with DTS previously , ler me know......

Any help is appreciated....

Thanks in advance

Error While Loading DataSet In Report Project

Jan 15, 2008

Hi, when I try to open up an existing report project in VS 2005 then open the report template it will guide me to the Layout tab. Once I change the tab to Data, the following error showed up with an OK button:

TITLE: Microsoft Report Designer
------------------------------

The data extension SQL was not found in the configuration file RSReportDesigner.config.
Add the extension to the configuration file before proceeding or choose another data extension.

------------------------------

I tried creating a new dataset on the Data tab, the "Command Type" section use to have 2 selection: Text and Storeprocedure type. But now the Storeprocedure type is missing. I tried uninstall VS 2005 & SQL Server 2005 Components and reinstall them the same error still occurs.

I have no idea how to solve it, anyone encounter the same problem or able to help out please do so. Thanks in advance.

From,
Daren

Data Missing When Loading Data Into Sql Server 2005

Jan 17, 2008

Hi, Experts

The project is a C/S data analysis system built with .Net 2.0 in windows environment, OS: Microsoft Windows 2003 R2 standard Edition Service Pack2, Database used in this project is: Sql server 2005. As a data analysis system, we need to load large amount of data from file to database, we do it by create a dts package and then do data loading by execute "m_Package.Execute(null, variables, m_PackageEvents, null, null)".

The problem is, we fount that DTS miss some data randomly sometimes, we can't find the rule till now. for example we've data as follows in data file, all data field splited by '|'

We found that some of the data field become 'null' after the load action finished, if we load the same data again, problem disappeared, we can't 100% reproduce this issue each time, we don't know why, Anybody here can help us to solve this issue or give us some clue?

Loading Data From Xml To Sql Server 2005

Aug 13, 2007

Please find the code below (which I am using).
1)
CREATE TABLE rssFeeds( feedXML XML)
SELECT * FROM RSSFEEDS
DECLARE @xmlDoc XML
SET @xmlDoc = ( SELECT * FROM OPENROWSET ( BULK 'C:Test.xml', SINGLE_CLOB ) AS xmlData)

2)
INSERT INTO rssFeeds (feedXML) VALUES (@xmlDoc)

I am able to get the contents of xml file into sql server in only one field of Table. Now I am asked to make one table with the schema same as xml file's. How to proceed? Pls let me know some URL for this.

Loading Data From .mdb File Into Sql Server 2005

Aug 15, 2007

I am so new to SQL Server 2005 and just studying.  Saying that...
We use SQL Server 2005 Express edition.  Some one sent me a file (info.mdb) and asked me to load the data in this file in to a table called Products and also asked me to load in another table (ProdCat) where id = 'X05'.
So being not knowing anyting regarding data loading etc, how should I do this and proceed?  The .mdb means its a Access database file?  If that is the case, I dont have Access in my machine and what should I do?

Loading Data In SQL Server To Related Tables (how)

Jul 14, 2004

Hi I have a question how to load data to tables linked by Foreign Keys in MSDE/SQL server. Example:
If I have 2 tables linked (by Foreign Key):
One table:

ITEM idITEM NAMEITEM CATEGORY (FK)
1cheese 2

And another:

Category IDCATEGORY NAME
1 household
2 food
3 general

How do I enter the load of data
Do I have to enter it as
1cheese2
or is there some way of entering it as
1cheesefood

TDS wizard does not allow me to transfer to views/querries what I thought would be a normal way as I would enter data to view(relevant to Access's form) and it would update related tables . When I wrote sql to do it it said I can not update my view table as too many tables would be affected(I had lookup tables empty then though)
I am doing it by number using TDS wizard to transfer it directly to the main table but there must be a better way

Loading Data From Oracle To SQL Server Using SSIS

Mar 7, 2007

Ok, we have built a data mart using SSIS etc...for transformations and loading.

Our biggest single problem we have currently is loading data from an Oracle server to our SQL server. Some tables from oracle run fine when retrieving the data but there is one particular table that just doesn't load fast enough (9 million records take over 12 hours). It seems that we are idling alot and its not always running.

Can anyone help with this problem?

Loading Data In SQL Mobile 2005 From The Server Side And Not On The Handheld

Mar 31, 2006

Hello,

We are in need of some help around the use of SQL Server 2005 Mobile Edition.

The problem comes in when we have to import a large list of equipment ID€™s into the database.

The way that things work today is that the database only runs on the handheld computer, so we are having to process a large amount of data on the handheld therefore taking a lot of time.

If there were a way to have a €śseed€? database on the server side (running on Windows Server 2003 or similar) and import all of this data on the server side it would be more efficient and require less time.

Once the data was imported on the server side we can simply transfer this seed database down to the handheld

Could you please throw some light on the above queries.

Thanks in advance.

Jeeves

SQL Server 2012 :: Loading And Reformatting Text File Data Into Table

May 29, 2015

I am looking for a way to convert the following format into a sql table. The format it is Bib Tex.

Essentially a new row in the table would be for each entry, denoted by an @ logo and each column is denoted by an =, as you can see from the example data no one contains all the possible columns and some fields can be over two lines long.

To load this I was considering loading it into a table as each line being a row. Adding a row number, then a column counting the @ signs in order and essentially grouping each record, then for each group running through and looking for the column keywords 'author' , 'title' etc then splitting the data out into those constituent parts using substring and charindex.

@Book{hicks2001,
author = "von Hicks, III, Michael",
title = "Design of a Carbon Fiber Composite Grid Structure for the GLAST
Spacecraft Using a Novel Manufacturing Technique",
publisher = "Stanford Press",
year = 2001,

SQL Server 2012 :: Fast Data Loading With Partition Switching Strategy

Jul 28, 2015

I’m looking for clearity on partition switching. The idea is to use many BULK INSERT statements into table dbo.X_n in parallel and when BULK INSERT for table dbo.X_n is completed, switch dbo.X_n into dbo.bigdaddy. I think this is the fastest way to upload a couple hundred GB of data.

In learning about partition switching (in part) from The Data Loading Performance Guide under Partition SWITCH, I hear the instructions to say copy the main table exactly to become a target. But in that same step (#1), I read that we need to change the default file group of the target (dbo.X_n) from the default file group. Then it says I need to match indexes and lists the filegroup as something we need to match with the main table.

As an overview of the partition switching strategy, I think the whole point of BULK INSERT with partitioning is to have seperate files (in same group) to enable concurrent uploading where each table has its own file. Once the upload is completed to a table (dbo.X_n) then we do the partition switch into the main table (dbo.bigdaddy). The data we just uploaded doesn’t actually move, just the metadata for it.

“Don’t have the same filegroup on your target as the main table. You must have the same filegroup on your target as the main table.”

SQL Server 2008 :: Populate One Dataset In SSRS Based On Results From Another Dataset Within Same Project?

May 26, 2015

I have a report with multiple datasets, the first of which pulls in data based on user entered parameters (sales date range and property use codes). Dataset1 pulls property id's and other sales data from a table (2014_COST) based on the user's parameters. I have set up another table (AUDITS) that I would like to use in dataset6. This table has 3 columns (Property ID's, Sales Price and Sales Date). I would like for dataset6 to pull the Property ID's that are NOT contained in the results from dataset1. In other words, I'd like the results of dataset6 to show me the property id's that are contained in the AUDITS table but which are not being pulled into dataset1. Both tables are in the same database.

SQL Server Admin 2014 :: Giant Logfiles (LDF) During Loading Data Into Memory Optimized Table

Aug 26, 2013

I try to load data into a memOpt table (INSERT INTO ... SELECT ... FROM ...). The source table has a size about 1 Gb and 13 Mio Rows. During this load the LDF File grows to size of 350 GB (until the space if the disk is run out of space). The Server has about 110 GB Memory for the SQL Server reserved. The tempdB doesn't grow. The Bucket Size in the create statement has a size of 262144. The Hash key as 4 fields`(2 fields have the datatype int,1 has smallint, 1 has varchar(200). ) The disk for the datafiles has still space for the datafiles (incl. the hekaton files).

How can I reduce the size of the ldf files during the load of the data ?

Putting Data From DataTable/DataSet Into SQL Server Table?

May 5, 2005

Hello,
I created this DataTable, add rows of data to it, and then display the data on to a form via a repeater.
Dim ds As DataSet = New DataSetDim dtTableName As DataTable = New DataTable("dtTableName") dtTableName.Columns.Add("Description")dtTableName.Columns.Add("ItemNumber")dtTableName.Columns.Add("Quantity")dtTableName.Columns.Add("Price")ds.Tables.Add(dtTableName)
What I need to do now is create a table in SQL Server and update the database with the data I've collect in my dataset. How do I bind and update this data to a sql server table?
Thanks!James

SQL Server 2012 :: Retrieving Dataset That Only Includes Latest Versions Of Data

Mar 28, 2014

In our Microsoft Dynamics Nav instance we have a Sales Header Archive table - into which copies of the Sales Header are placed, with 3 items forming the compound key:

Document Number
Version
Occurrence number

so if doc 1 is archived, then the records would be

Doc# | Version | Occurrence #
1 | 1 | 1

When a second copy is archived a new record is added:

Doc# | Version | Occurrence #
1 | 1 | 1
1 | 1 | 2

and then when maybe a 3rd version is archived a 3rd entry added

Doc# | Version | Occurrence #
1 | 1 | 1
1 | 1 | 2
1 | 2 | 2

This is for EACH document and I now need to retrieve the dataset which is the latest version of each document... but I'm drawing a blank!

If I

select [Doc#], max([Version]) as [V], max([Occurrence #]) from (table) group by [Doc#]

then I get the distinct list of docs, but I now need to use this list to select the records which match this criteria, from this table.

How do I select just these?

I thought (wrongly) that I could simply say:

Select * from Invoice Table where
Invoice.[Doc#], Invoice.[V], Invoice.[Occurrence #] in
(select [Doc#], max([Version]) as [V], max([Occurrence #]) from (table) group by [Doc#])

Now i want to load it back but its giving the Error Code 8 ..  Before loading the same data i have changed the stage table Importtype to 2 and Importstatusid to 0.

I have a package which loads data from a flat file (csv) to 4 tables in a database.
Now, the load is incremental.

I want to clear the data of all 4 tables(in the database) before loading the data from flat file everytime. How can i do this?
Iam using 4 Oledb Destinations, 1 multicast, 1 source component to do this.
Also can it happen like a transaction? because if it deletes the existing data and couldnt load new data there will be a problem!.how to avoid this?

Data Loading

Apr 10, 2000

What is the best way to load large amounts of data? I am working on a project where I will need to load data into approx. 20 tables. Into several of the tables I will need to load around 400,000 records. I am familiar with the concepts involved in using BCP but was hoping I could avoid the step of going to text files. I am pulling data from Access (either 97 or 2000). Any suggestions would be welcome.

Help Loading XML Data

May 1, 2008

I am trying to enhance an existing package that actually does the xml to table load, this packge is using a script component to parse and load the xml file into multiple tables (3 tables) using VB.net code, I want to add a component to it where if there are any xml rows that are erroring out , they get redirected to a different table, this log table is having only one column and the xml records are supposed to be loaded into this column in XML format. this is the existing design and I have to live with it and at the same time I am not a big .net coder, any help is appreciated.

Thanks
