I am testing an application that uses mysql that works 100% fine with Microsoft Windows XP on Windows Vista Premium Home Edition.
Using Vista's ODBC Data Source Administrator I have set up and successfuly tested the DSN Connection to the Database.
However, when I call the set up DSN with the application I get [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified.
I am using the mysql-connector-odbc-3.51.12-win32.
I have tried editing the registry DSN files - the problem still persists.
If I go to Http://localhost/reports I get this error
I have followed the tutorial but still get the error as below. If i go to http:// localhost I get the iis7 wecome page , without a problem.
Sorry I,m a bit new at this , I see in the error message that I must type something in a command line window.
Is this the black blackground box with C:windowssystem32>_ already typed in . Must I type this just after and press entre %systemroot%system32inetsrvAPPCMD.EXE migrate config "Default Web Site/Reports"
Server Error in Application "Default Web Site/Reports"
HTTP Error 500.0 - Internal Server Error
Description: This application is running in an application pool that uses the Integrated .NET mode. This is the preferred mode for running ASP.NET applications on the current and future version of IIS.
In this mode, the application should not specify ASP.NET handler mappings in the <system.web>/<httpHandlers> configuration section. Instead, it should use the <system.webServer>/<handlers> configuration section to configure ASP.NET handler mappings. You have the following options: 1) Migrate the application to work with the Integrated .NET mode (PREFERRED).You can migrate the application configuration, including the contents of the <httpHandlers> configuration section, by using the following from a command line window (the window must be running as Administrator):
%systemroot%system32inetsrvAPPCMD.EXE migrate config "Default Web Site/Reports"
After you migrate your application, it will run in both Classic and Integrated .NET modes, as well as on downlevel platforms.
The error happens on the last line where I try to open the connection. I've tried also using a dbConn.Provider="Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0" line, to no avail. The item that is passed to the Open command is
I'm not familiar enough with DNS and IIS to figure this out. Any suggestions -- other than porting over to SQL and .NET? You don't buy a Ferrari when you only drive in a 30 MPH town.
Hi Everyone, When I try to install 7.0, I get a message that it needs to some ODBC items, but that one or more is being used by an application, and to shut down all applications and continue. The problem is, I don`t have any other applications open. My McAfee virus scan was enabled, and I disabled that and the clock in the system tray. I can`t go any further with this. Any help would truly be appreciated.
I'm receiving a bad error message when attempting to connect to SSCE .sdf files installed by Orcas Beta 1 (e.g., Northwind.sdf from the ...v3.5Samples folder) and created by the Orcas Beta 1 Sync Designer with SQL Management Studio Express SP2 (version 9.00.3042.00).
The message is:
TITLE: Connect to Server ------------------------------
Cannot connect to C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL Server Compact Editionv3.5SamplesNorthwind.sdf.
You are trying to access an older version of a SQL Server Compact Edition database. If this is a SQL Server CE 1.0 or 2.0 database, run upgrade.exe. If this is a SQL Server Compact Edition 3.0 or later database, run Compact / Repair. [ Db version = 3505053,Requested version = 3004180,File name = C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL Server Compact Editionv3.5SamplesNorthwind.sdf ] (SQL Server Compact Edition ADO.NET Data Provider)
------------------------------
Obviously 3505053 is a newer than SSCE 3004180, not earlier. I don't understand why SSMSX SP2 would request a specific version and refuse to open the latest version.
I don't recall having this problem with SSMSX SP2 and VS Orcas March CTP under Windows Server 2003 (March CTP wasn't certified for Vista).
VS Orcas Beta 1's Server Explorer can open the .sdf files and display their content but won't execute DDL commands against them.
There also is what I believe to be a related problem with the Sync Designer failing to add LastEdited and CreatedDate fields to the .sdf files (see Sync Designer/SSCE Version Problems with Orcas Beta 1 in the Sync Services forum.
I have a page that was working but now I am getting the following errors. Server Error in '/' Application.

This is my first posting and actually I have big problem which I need to resolve immediately:
I have a 38 GB Database on my SQL Server which I want to full-backup. Until now backup was created on the same volume where the database resides. But now the volume is out of disk space. So what we did is that we connected an external USB disk drive with 500 GB to the SQL Server and try to backup there.
But our first and all consecutive backup attemps failed with error SQL-DMO (ODBC SQLState: 42000). It's working fine the first few minutes as we can see that the backup file is continously growing. But then it abruptly aborts with above error message.
Can anyone figure out why ? Any help is appreciated.
As other contributors, all I am trying to do is import data from an ODBC source (spelled 'non-Microsoft data source') into a SQL 2005 table. I can easily do this in SQL 2000 with DTS, but when I use the same DSN in VS 2005 it doesn't work.
I created an integration project, and made a connection in Connection Manager to the DSN and clicked Test Connection. It succeeded, or so it claimed.
Click OK and drag a DataReader Source onto the Data Flow surface Doubleclick it and select the connection manager per above. Note the error: Error at Data Flow Task [DataReader Source[50]]: Cannot acquire a managed connection from the run-time connection manager.
What does that mean? More to the point, how to fix it?
My replication of those SQL 2000 servers gave errors: Data source (11): General Network Error. Check your network documentation... and ODBC (08S01): Communication link failure. The replication was across the WAN. I don't know where to start to troubleshoot this problem. Please help!
In order to add a data source by using ODBC Administrator, programmatically i am using SQLConfigDataSource. Thus calling SQLConfigDataSource with the fOption set to either ODBC_ADD_DSN for creating a new DSN.
Following is the stattement specified in the source code. where type_of_driver = "Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)"; and parameters contains the data source source credentials information such as DSN, UID, PSW, FIL, Description, DataDirectory,DEFAULTDIR and DBQ all separated by "
