Problem When Viewing Reports With The Viewer

Dec 20, 2006

I've made some reports using the Report Designer. When i run them in the Report Designer everything is correct. Then in my webpage i have links to launch the same reports. The viewer is launching the report using the HTML4.0 format parameter in the URL.
In the viewer my report is so ugly. Some textbox doesn't have the same height, other are not align correctly. What i don't understand is if i tried to print the report or export it in PDF or in TIFF everything is ok. I only have the problem when i tried to view the report using the viewer with the HTML4.0 parameter.

So is this a problem with the viewer ? Is there something i can do to correct this problem ?

Thanks !

Viewing Reports In A C# Application

Sep 20, 2006

I have been using Microsoft Business Intelligence for 1st time. This software has been able to create my reports based on a table I have. But note, this report is built using Business Intelligence (Visual Studio). Now, the Report pulls data from a database. I also have a C# application that interfaces with this same database. What I would like to do is to display the content of this report in my C# application. How do I go about doing this?

Problem Viewing Reports

May 2, 2008

Hello all.

I have an ASP.NET application which allows the selection of various reporting services created reports to be selected via a drop-down. Until recently this has worked no problem at all, however now a strange error has surfaced.

When the user selects to view a report, the first selection shows the report correctly. However when a second report is selected, instead of displaying the second report, the screen simply posts back but doesnt actually display the second report.

Any idea people?

Problem Viewing Reports On Server

Jan 23, 2007

Hello, we're having a bit of an issue getting Report Server to display reports. We've published via the web-interface and Visual Studio. After we publish, it gives an error and it looks as if it's trying to find the data source that we used to create the report. We've changed the datasource names to match that of the local machine too. Here's the error...

An error has occurred during report processing.

Cannot create a connection to data source 'LocalDataSourceName'.

Keyword not supported: 'driver'.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Problem Viewing Reports In Report Builder

Feb 8, 2006

Hi.

I get a problem when I want to preview a report in Report Builder. I just launch Report Builder by the url [1] (RS is on a server, and I work on a laptop). Then I choose a model and create a simple report. When I press "Run Report", I get an error message saying: "The permissions granted to user 'mydomainmyusername' are insufficient for performing this operation. (rsAccessDenied)". But my user are assigned to content manager...

If I then save the report to the Report Server, I can access the report through e.g. the Report Manager without any problems.

Why doesn't the preview functionality work for me? Are there some settings I need to set, or is it a bug in Report Builder?

Regards, Tomsi

How Do You Limit The Data That A Certain User Can See When Viewing Reports?

Jan 29, 2008

Hi

I'm new to SQL Reporting Services and I've been asked to create an online environment for a client where their customers can log on and view a report. The client wants to make sure that each customer can only see data that is relevant to them, and that other customer's information is hidden from whoever is logged on.

Can this be done through a username/password setup or is the solution more complex?

Thanks very much!

Viewing Reports Designed On SQL 2005 Reporting Server

Jan 8, 2007

I have built the reports that I need using Visual Studio and the SQL 2005 Reporting Server, but now I need a way to view the reports via a web browser.

I am not much of a web/programming expert, so any help that could walk me through the process of publishing the .rdl files that I have created via a web browser would be much, much appreciated. Again, I am a novice in the the web arena, so the more straight forward the steps the better.

Thanks!

Viewing Reports Via Report Manager Fails (while Other Methods Succeed)

May 14, 2008

I'm having a strange problem with SSRS 2005 that I'm hoping someone might be able to help with. I've reinstalled SSRS (multiple times) and even reinstalled IIS hoping to resolve the problem, but it still exists.

The problem is that trying to view a report via Report Manager is failing. All other operations within Report Manager work fine (browsing folders and report lists, viewing folder and report properties, changing properties, setting permissions, etc.) Only trying to view reports fails. Whenever I try to view a report, I get the following error:

The request failed with HTTP status 401: Access Denied.

I can view reports via other methods just fine. For example, if I browse to the http://localhost/reportserver URL directly, I can view any report just fine. And if I connect to SSRS via SSMS, I can view reports there as well. I believe that both of those methods use a direct reportserver URL versus using the http://localhost/Reports/Pages/Report.aspx page within the Report Manager virtual directory.

Here's a bit of configuration information that may or may not be helpful to someone:

1. This is on a laptop running Windows XP SP2 (32-bit). SSRS (and all SQL Server components) are installed as default instances and SQL Server SP2 has been applied to everything.

2. All of the latest updates and fixes for Windows, SQL Server, Office, etc. have been installed via Windows Update.

3. This laptop is a member of a domain, but I am typically not connected to the domain (not in the office very often). I am, however, logging into the laptop using a domain account (with cached credentials). Local user accounts are frowned on by the domain and IT administrators involved (except for running local services). My domain account has full admin permissions within Windows and within SQL everywhere.

4. As far as I can tell, everything with regards to IIS, asp.net, and SSRS are configured correctly (ASPNET account seems to be set up correctly, all SQL services including the SSRS service are running under a local account with admin permissions, the Reports and ReportServer virtual directories in IIS are set to use Integrated Security, etc.)

I'm not an expert on SSRS, so this one has me stumped. I've reviewed all of the config files that I can think of looking at for SSRS and I've looked at the SSRS logs. Nothing really jumps out at me in terms of changes that might be required (and the SSRS logs don't really say much other than repeating the error). For example, I see the following lines in the ReportServerWebApp__xxx.log file:

aspnet_wp!ui!8!5/14/2008-13:00:17:: e ERROR: The request failed with HTTP status 401: Access Denied.
aspnet_wp!ui!8!5/14/2008-13:00:17:: e ERROR: HTTP status code --> 500
-------Details--------
System.Net.WebException: The request failed with HTTP status 401: Access Denied.

Anyone have any ideas? I've searched Google for quite a while trying to find something that would help me figure this out, but thus far I've not been able to come up with anything. Any help (or pointers to something on teh web somewhere that I might have missed) would be appreciated!!

System Restarts On Click Of The Print Button While Viewing Reports In The Browser

Apr 17, 2007

We are using Reporting Services 2000.

The print button that is present in the browser is working just fine for some users.

But some users are complaining that on clicking the print button their system restarts.

Some other users are also getting the error "An error occurred during printing. (0x80004005)"

However on closing the browser and opening the report in it again this issue is resolved.

So, the main concern is "Restart of the machine on click of the PRINT icon in reports viewed in some application browser."

Error While Viewing Reports Unable To Locate Control SSRS 2005: OReportCell

Apr 30, 2007

Hello Friends,
I have created few reports in SSRS 2005 on Windows 2003 Standard. Previouly I was not able to view reports from my .ASPX page which contained a ReportViewer, after going throuhg some other threads I was able to create a snap-shot for my reports . But still I'm not able to view reports, each time I try to view the page I get a message box with a error as : "Unable to locate control SSRS 2005: oReportCell" the same error is displayed when i try to access my reports from "http://localhost/reports.....".
But the funny thing is I'm able to view the reports when I use the following URL: "http://localhost/reportserver/pages/reportviewer.aspx?/<report>". I have applied all the Hotfixes & installed the latest Service packs. Any suggestions ???????

SSRS And ASP.NET Multiple Reports Within One Report Viewer

Feb 6, 2008

Ok,

I am writing an app that will allow a user to select various information for displaying in a report. The sql is dynamically generated when the user clicks on "Get Report". Currently, I am using a gridview with a datasource and I pass the query to the datasource and it displays in the grid view. However, our company has expressed a need to migrate reporting to SSRS.

Is there any way that I can use dynamic sql with a template report and feed the dynamic sql to it so that all I would have to do is write a single rdl or rdlc and pass it the sql?

Alternatively, is there a way to have One ReportViewer show multiple parameterized reports. Ie. User selects the report from a dropdown and then selects the parameter options from other dropdowns and when they click "get report" it loads the chosen report with the parameters?

Thanks in advance.

Unable To View Reports On Report Viewer After Publishing ASP.NET Web Site

Oct 31, 2007

Hi,

I have couple of Web pages linking to my RDLs using report viewer Web controls. I have no problem running and viewing them in VS2005 debug mode and report manager until I published them to local folder and set the local folder as an application on my IIS7. When running the published version of the Web pages, all my calendar image buttons (which happen to be part of the report parameter fields) turned to red 'X':

When clicking the View Report button, the animated progress icon not appearing at all. Before the occurance of this problem, I did face the problem whereby the 'NT AUTHORITYNETWORK SERVICE' does not have enough permission to view the report. After referring to some threads, I finally be able to get rid of this error by assigning Browser role to 'NT AUTHORITYNETWORK SERVICE' from the report manager. I wonder could this solution be related to the problem that I'm facing now. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Can We Generate Reports Without Using Report Viewer And Give A Popup For Saving And Opening It?

Apr 24, 2008

Hi

I am generating a Report by using SSRS. I am making using use of SSRS Report Viewer control for displaying the report. Which has an option to export the generated report in PDF format. Instead of displaying the report in by using report viewer I want to generate it directly in PDF format whenever that report is selected from the list of reports. So is there is any way to generate the report directly in PDF format which prompt a pop up for opening or saving the PDF?

Thanks,

Comparison Of SQL Server Reporting Services To Access Reports, Crystal Reports, Cognos Or Other Options

Nov 5, 2007

Hello SQL Server Experts, Data Analysts, and Report Writers et al:

re: Reporting Options with SQL Server

I wanted to propose an offshoot to the pryor thread:

Would anyone take a stab at comparing Access Reports, Crystal Reports,
Cognos or other options to all the Reporting Services and its components offered as part ofSQL Server, especially as to extracting data from SQL Server into a report format?

I guess this is a far as capabilites, ease of use, limitations, and especially formatting
or presentation of the end report product?

Thank you to all, and I hope this is a beneficial discussion to others.

Viewing SQL Currently Being Ran

Apr 2, 2008

Hi all,

I'm very new to SQL Server having previously worked with Oracle 10g for the last couple of years.

Anyway, in Oracle there is a view called V$SQL that provides information about SQL that is or has recently been executed. I'm trying to find a similar sort of functionality in SQL Server.

Basically, what I'd like to do is list all of the SQL statements that are running at a given moment. Or even better would be a way of listing all statements that have run in the last 10 minutes.

Appreciate any help for a newbie.

We're on SQL Server 2000 8.00.194

Cheers

Converting Crystal Reports To SSRS Reports

Mar 27, 2008

My issue is with converting multi-value parameters:

In Crystal Reports, you can set a parameter to accept multiple vales (Discrete, Range or Discrete and Range).

As an example:

I have a database table with a column called ID.
I can create a parameter called param_id and set the options of the parameter to "Allow multiple range values".

With this setup, I can limit the result set of the report by comparing the param_id parameter to the ID column in the database. Because param_id is a multi-value range parameter, I can pass it the following data:
1 - 50
60 - 80
150 - 127

This will only return results within those ranges.

Does anyone know if SSRS provides this kind of functionality?

Thanks,

Patrick Conway

Copy Reports From Other Users My Reports Folder

Aug 7, 2007

Is there a way to copy reports from other users "My reports" folder? I am logging onto the management studio reporting services using an administrative account and I am able to view the reports from all users' "My Reports" folder. But I am not able to export them as an rdl file. I am able to export reports from other common folders, but not from the "My Reports" folder.

The reason I need to do this is some of the users have created some reports in one environment and the reports are available in their respective "My Reports" folder. I need to move these reports to their corresponding "My Reports" folder in another environment.

Is there a way to do this?

Thanks for your help.
