But I am getting error 'The full path must be less than 260 characters long'.

I have a report builder drill down report. I have row groups with totals.    It looks like the attached.   The problem is when the report is not expanded the Grand Totals column is not accurate... it is displaying the totals of one of the rows when expanded.The expression in the Total Show text box is

Is there any way to not display the expression in the Total columns unless the report is expanded?

Reporting Services :: Passing Cascaded Parameters From Main Report To Drill Through Report In SSRS?

I am trying to develop a report from cube,and it has one drill through report.when i click on sales amount field on main report,then it open the drill through report with details.Here i passed the **(category,subcat,product)parameters(Cascaded)** to drill through report in action part of main report.In my main report i have two columns .

columns are **Level**  and              **Salesamount**.  

Values are like  

**[-]category**              **100**
    **[-]subcat**             **50**
         **product**          **30**

when i click on 100, parameters are passed & it open the detail report correctly, but when i click on 50,the values for subcat parameter is not getting values in detail report and same as the product also.

Here i used the expressions in parameter values

**pCategory**----iif(inscope(category),!fields.category.value,split(join(Parameters!category.value,","),","))

**psubcat**----iif(inscope(subcat),!fields.subcat.value,split(join(Parameters!subcat.value,","),","))

I need to create a SSRS report using the Warehouse tfs_warehouse DB Report need to be drill down on WorkItemType Parents and child values. So, If we click on Product Back Log Item will get all the tasks inside it and so on....

I have done research and found out how to do it in OLAP cube ..but still can't figure out the TSQL query to be used.Found one of the query on forum:

I am experiencing some issue with drill through report parameter not getting selected some times.I have two reports parent and child. Both reports have total ten parameters and all are cascading parameters with multiple selection. The report, when drill through to child, first eight parameters selected as it in the parent report.But the ninth parameter not get selected with the default value which from parent report and the parameter populated with values.

The first two parameter type is  date time and rest of them are text and all text type parameters available and default values are populated by query (Data set) only.

Reporting Services :: SSRS Drill Through Report Does Not Work When Deployed To SharePoint

I replied to an thread in the pre-2010 forum before I realized the forum I was in...

I'm using Visual Studio 2008 to Design my SSRS reports. The report viewer is using SharePoint 2010 SP1 integrated mode.

I am using a conditional statement to determine which report to drill to based on the SSRS textbox's column.

(Fields!Type.Value ="Variance - (F)/U"),"DivisionSpendingReport","DivisionSpendingReportDetail")

Works fine in Visual Studio. Once deployed to SharePoint though, the drill through returns an error that says report can't be found. So I added the .rdl to the conditional statement in the report Design.

(Fields!Type.Value ="Variance - (F)/U"),"DivisionSpendingReport.rdl","DivisionSpendingReportDetail.rdl")

It now works in SharePoint but not in Visual Studio...

Do I need to keep adding and removing the ".rdl" in order to make any changes to this report???!!!

I am using Report Builder 3.0 and i have report which has a drill down group. The report opens in a collapsed form.This report has interactive sorting on a column. But,when we drill down and sort the column, the group collapses and the details disappear.

In some posts, i have seen that instead of interactive sorting, people recommended a parameter. But i have to do interactive sorting only.

Reporting Services :: Adding Drill Through Parameters Increasing Rendering Time On Report Server

I have a report which takes around 5 seconds when run in BIDS but takes around 20 seconds when deployed on report server.Execution log says TimeDataRetrieval is around 3-4 seconds and  rendering time is around 15-17 secs.From this report I am passing 8 parameters to a  drill through report and there are 36 text boxes where I have defined these parameters for drill through action.All these parameters are populated in main dataset.When I deployed the same report without any drill through action and parameter, it takes 5 seconds.So I am suspecting that because of drill through parameters report is taking more rendering time on server.I am using 2008R2 and IE11.

Is it expected behavior that due to so many parameters for drill through action, report will take more rendering time?If yes, then why is it not taking same time in BIDS?

Reporting Services :: RDLs Present In SSRS Folder Path But Not Visible In Report Viewer URL?

I have an issue as to where only some reports are visible within Report Viewer url. But if I navigate to the path of the rdl's there are many more present that should be visible through Report Viewer. The client was recently upgraded, and I seem to have all out of box roles and permission levels yet can only see some of those reports, as if some were manually copied to this folder location at a later point and perhaps some user job needs to be run to reflect import those additional rdl's?

Reporting Services :: Strip Unwanted Characters From Parameters For SSRS Report

I have a third party app that passes parameters (main dataset query) from the app to SSRS.  Unfortunately, when the parameters are passed from the app they will contain equal signs ("=") in front of each parameter.  For example, the parameters that may be passed to the main dataset query should be:

"HYDRO, OKO, ONEPL, TECHNI"

However, the parameters that are passed from the app, get to SSRS as:

"=HYDRO, =OKO, =ONEPL, =TECHNI"

Again, this is for the main dataset query and there may be one parameter or there may be any number of them.

Basically, I need to strip the "=" signs from the parameters. whether there is one parameter or ten.

I believe that I will need a custom function to strip the equal signs?

Basically i have 3 images capacity per record in my asp.net application. In there i am saving the image path with record id in database and image in my application folder.

Now i am creating SSRS Report in Report builder . In there i have taken one image control to show the images. In the Image properties in report builder i have chosen database under the select the image source field. then inside use this field i have chosen image url and in use this MIME Type i have selected image/jpeg. Now i have saved this report in report server folder.

Now while calling in .net web from through report viewer control. It is opening the report but wont showing the image.

In my report i have CNAME parameter , which allows null value. I checked Allow null value check box in report parameter properties.

when i preview the report , it displays checked NULL check box beside CNAME parameter . I want to give some meaningful name(i.e.ALLCustomers) to this checkbox instead of NULL. 

Is it possible through SSRS designer?

Reporting Services :: Error After Interactive Sorting And Drill Down In PPS

I have a report  that has a drill down option that shows all workgroups within a specific  parent group and an interactive sorting ass well on both columns  parent group &  workgroup 

This is displayed  in pps combined with a SharePoint

The problem is that after sorting the parent group column by name I then press the drill through icon  (+) next to it hopping to see all workgroups related to each parent group - but instead 

I receive this Reporting Services Error  :

The value for parameter 'SortItem' is not specified. It is either missing from the function call, or it is set to null. (rsMissingParameter)

If I don't press the sorting and just drill through it works fine. the sorting itself also works fine.

I want to enable a drill down on a parent child hierarchy, just as it is possible in the Analysis Services.


An Example :



Hierarchy in a company : Jack (1) is the boss, Frank (2) and Andy (3) ar the Semi-Bosses , and Julia (4), Jane (5), Henry (6), Michael (7), Will (8) , Dave (9) are normal employees . Timmy(10) is a trainee. Furthermore Frank is responsible for Julia,Jane and Henry and Andy is responsible for Michael WIll and Dave. Dave is responsible for Timmy. So we get the following tree hierarchy structure.

My Employee Dimension Attributes : Name, Parent

I want to make a report, where I show the salary of each employee. But at first the user only sees 1, when he drills down he sees 2 and 3, too. When he drills down once more he sees 4 5 6 and 7 8 9, too (The user must be able to recognize which person is responsible for 456 and which for 789). And the last drill down shows 10, for which 9 is responsible ( exactly as it is possible in the analyis Service in the Cubebrowser)



I have read some posts where are MDX examples which are similar to my problem, but they did not solve my problem.


I hope somebody can help me

I have two reports 'Product Details' and 'Sales by Product'

When i click on 'Product ID' field in 'Product Details' report, It has to drill through to 'Sales by Product' which has a parameter 'Product ID' in it. 

I have written the following javascript

Reporting Services :: Moving Images To Another Path

Using the "move" command it's possible to relocate e.g. datasources without negatively impacting reports that use them. We've got some folders where users have uploaded images for reuse in several reports as external images (2008 R2).

Now I'm trying to consolidate these folders. Yet it seems, moving images will not update the reports that use them as it happens with datasource. Instead, the link to the image breaks.

Is there a way to move the images and telling the reports that reference them that I did so?

Drill Through --relative Path

I'm trying to use the drill-through feature to link to a report in different solution, on the same server, but in a different project. Local help files say: "The list of report names includes all reports in the current report server project. If the drillthrough report is on the report server but is not in the project, type the name of the report. The report name can contain a relative or absolute path to the report."


The report will be passing a parameter to the target report through drill-through. The target report is located on different solution and project but on a same server (report manager). Any help will be be appreciated.


Can someone give an example of a relative path? Nothing I've tried has worked, and I've posted this on sqlteam to no avail.

during period of troubles connecting to Local Servers and Sites location i.e., to [URL], the place where all Reports are saved by default, I have continued to work on some Reports that have been saved to file system of my localhost/developing machine. But, upon recovery of http location, I can not see/open those files?

how to approach those files in order to open them in Report Builder 3.0 and thus, to "save as" them to the http location? Seems that Report Builder has chosen that location, by default, somehow.....

We have stored some chinese characters in SQL database with datatype as nvarchar, but they are displayed in RS as some weird characters.

like this: 耹±Ã¥€¢€ 耹±Ã§¾Å½Ã¨¸Ã¨€°Ã¥€¢€ Ã¥€¹„¢(耚¡)Ã¥€¦¬Ã¥¸Ã¥°Ã§£Ã¥Ë†€ Ã¥€¦¬Ã¥¸



When we code the asp pages, we put the following on each page to display the chinese characters properly.



<meta http-equiv="CONTENT-TYPE" content="TEXT/HTML; CHARSET=UTF-8">



So my question is what do I need to do in RS in order to show the chinese characters properly as well ?

Deny Builtin/administrators Full Access To Report Services Report Manager 2005

I need to prevent domain and local administrators from having full control over our report manager. (I want them to be assigned permissions just like everyone else, some reports they can see other reports they can not.)

How can I accomplish this? I tried going into Report Manager -> Site Settings -> Configure Site Wide Security and re-assigning BUILTINAdministrators to the System User role instead of the System Administrator role. (A different set of report manager admins was given the system administrator role).

However, it appears that members of the BUILTINAdministrators group still have full control in Report Manager.

Reporting Services :: Format Month Into Three Characters In SSRS Expression?

I am using the following expression to place the month in the heading of a column.

=MonthName(Month(DateAdd("M",-1,Now)))

The expression above gives me the previous month, but I need to have it as "Jan", not "January".

expression that will give me the three character month name instead of the full month.  I've tried substituting the "M" with "MMM", but get an error.  I've also tried "Mon", but again, I
get an error.
